Paul was a savage for reaching his world with the good news of Jesus and in this text we learn the reason was because he was goal oriented. Having a goal oriented life makes such a difference in peoples every day choices when it comes to athletics and education and relationships, imagine taking it to a whole other level!

Today’s secular world urges people to demand their rights and if you’re denied your rights, to win at all costs. What the Bible teaches is to love one another in a spirit of promoting each other’s interests. When Christians choose to demand their rights no matter what the cost of the other brother or sister, it often times results in giving the world and opportunity to ridicule Christ and to divide his church. When Professing Christians are unethical in their business practices, they lose credibility and give Jesus a bad name. When Christians fight over money and possessions and they can’t come up with a solution without getting the world involved in helping to settle it, they’ve already lost.
For many people, Jesus is a familiar household name. Like the ones in this account, they knew of Jesus but they really didn't know Jesus. Yea, they had some moments with him, they thought they new the extent of who he was, but they never experienced his life changing power. And when Jesus started to change people lives that weren't familiar with him, the people who were familiar with him were unwilling to accept it.
There's a lot of views and opinions about what is right and wrong. In a world that is open and tolerant to a variety of lifestyles, how are we as Christians supposed to live? Is Tolerance supposed to be the main virtue of the church, or is Holiness? What is God's view of sin? Join us

But the truth is, we are always in desperate need. Paul uses some sarcasm to exaggerate the things that the church in Corinth were boasting about to show them what they were really acting like. It also would show them what they were actually communicating to the church about the Apostle Paul. That when they elevated themselves to "Kings" they were essentially saying that Paul was the "Scum of the Earth".
We all have something that we attach to for our source of 'life'. In other words, where we get our sense of worth, security, meaning, fulfillment from. We believe that as long as we have it we will be fulfilled and free, but without it we'd drown. It's like an air hose where we get our supply of oxygen. This is a message to the people who survive the great 7 year tribulation spoken of in Revelation chapter 6-19. Yes, there will be a number of people on the planet that survive the great judgment of God and God has given some timeline markers in His word from the book of Daniel to bring guidance and direction for those who will be around during that time. In the middle of that 7 year period there will be what's called "The abomination of desolations" which is when the Antichrist will put an end to sacrifice in the Temple in Jerusalem and claim to be 'God". There will be an image that is set up as well. God has promised that from that moment on there will be exactly 1260 days of the antichrists terror. If you make it to Jordan, you'll be safe. If not, lay low and wait. After the 1260 days the antichrist will be dethroned, but stay put another moon cycle of 30 days (1290 days) After that there will be another 45 days (1335 days) and then you will finally be in the clear. God will give you the wisdom and he will send his Angels out to all the earth to gather his chosen people and lead them to where he is on planet earth(Matthew 24:31). Other angels will then gather the wicked survivors and there will be a judgment (Matthew 25:31-46 and Matt. 13:41) During the last moments of this time if any survivors are still not repented and surrendered, show your repentance by your deeds of helping God's people and you will be spared. Then a new day will dawn.

Right before Passover, Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey and then declares he is going to die on a cross. The people were then very resistant to that statement, because they wanted Jesus to liberate them from Rome, not be crucified by Rome. Jesus then pronounces a hardening of heart over the Jewish people that was very similar to something that happened when Moses went in to declare liberation of God's people to Pharaoh. Pharaoh resisted and hardened his heart, so God in turn set his heart in stone. Like the liberation of Moses- It was through the death of the firstborn son, and the blood of the Passover lamb- that the people would ultimately be liberated.

When you see a sign in a fenced in yard that says: "Beware of Dogs" you'll likely conclude that if you go into that yard dogs will tear you up. In the day that Paul wrote this letter to the Philippians, dogs as pets were uncommon. What Paul refers to in chapter 3 were these semi-wild "scavenger dogs" who would sniff for things to tear into and ravage. This is the metaphor for the false teachers that were going around from church to church, sniffing out things in order to tear into people. These false teachers know as the "Judaizers" were all about adding and keeping rules in order to be acceptable before God. Paul says beware of people like that. All you need is Jesus. Join us.

He has been feeding the flock, healing the flock, guiding the flock and protecting the flock and in this account, he has just went after a "lost sheep" (The blind man of John Ch. 9) and brought him into the fold. He will ultimately lay his life down for the flock when he goes to the cross, thus proving that he is indeed the Good Shepherd.
There is coming a day when there will be no more curse. God himself will wipe all our tears away!

Is this account, the Pharisees just slammed the door on the blind man that Jesus healed and they kicked him out of "the fold". He was no longer allowed in the temple- they stood at the gate to the temple and said to this man- you can't enter. Jesus then hears of this and hunts the blind man down- then he explains that HE HIMSELF is the door- and HE IS the gatekeeper of the fold, NOT the Pharisees.

Even though ultimately all sickness stems back to Adam and Eve's original sin, we know that sickness is not always caused by a sin that was committed by the individual who is sick. There are some people who believe and are praying that in the last moments of history before the return of Jesus Christ, there will be a great revival and a great out-pouring of God's Spirit in our world like we've never seen before, even greater than Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. One thing we know for sure, Jesus is coming back and we should be ready, because there are only 3 ways out of the mess we're in: REVIVAL, RUIN, or RAPTURE.
What does God think about money? Is God anti-rich people? Not exactly, it depends on what you do with your wealth. As we study the book of James we are met with some very strong language toward those who are rich who hoard their wealth and step on other people. As we learn today- God's not anti-rich, but he is pro-people.
What is your life? That is the question that James asks us. And he answers his own question by saying that our lives here on earth are temporary, short, and fading like a vapor. Soon we will be in eternity forever. So, what is your perspective on life? Do you have an eternal perspective? If so, you will naturally be more concerned about God's will than anything else in this life.
What are the pursuits and passions of your life? What do you ambitiously go hard after? James tells us that when we pursue passions without even allowing God to have full control over those things to do what He wants, and even change our plans if He wills, we are living in arrogance and pride and it is actually evil. As believers, the one pure and holy passion and ambition of our lives should be GOD above all other things. Join us!
The message of Christmas is about God, physically making His way down to us. When we couldn't get closer to him due to our sins, God moved closer to us to save us from our sins. Join us as we look into the beautiful message of Christmas!

There is a difference between making right judgments and being judgmental. As the Christmas season is in full swing, we need to be reminded of what Christ coming to this earth was all about- the incarnation- I.E. God the Son leaving his world and entering into our world, literally putting himself in humanity's shoes. Christ came not to condemn the world, but to save it. Do you have the same heart as Christ? Who's world can you enter into this Christmas? Jesus was willing to enter into the whole world, even if the whole world was unwilling to enter his. Judgmental Christianity can be a real easy thing to fall into. there is a difference between making right judgments and being judgmental
We all need more of God's grace in our lives, but we are not always in a place to receive that grace. So, what does it look like to position yourself in a place to receive all that it is that God has in His heart for us? What does it look like? Well, James tells us- in fact, he even gives us a flowchart.
We have all been designed by God with an innate longing for fulfillment, esteem, significance and security. But those things we seek will ultimately only be filled by God. When we seek to meet those needs through other means, this is when we find ourselves empty time and time again. The good news is, God is Jealously yearning to spend time with us to fulfill our greatest need! All we need to do, is move toward Him in humility and HE will move toward us with more grace! Join us!
James writes this letter to the very Jewish Christians that were saved at Pentecost (Acts Chapter 2) where the fire from heaven came down and got a hold of their tongues in order to speak the wonderful works of God. This miraculous anointing cut through every language, dialect and culture and thousands of people were brought to the Lord. But years later, these sames tongues that were once set on fire from heaven itself, were now getting set on fire by hell itself. James tells us that this should not be and then he tells us what a tongue set on fire from heaven really looks like.
James says that if your tongue could be tamed, you'd be a perfect person. Like a horse with a bridle, like a ship with a rudder, and like a spark to a fire, your tongue, though small, can have massive effects that determine the course of your life. If that's the case, what's the secret to taming our tongue? How do we do it? The answer he gives is startling, yet freeing: "No person can tame the tongue", in other words, we can't- but "every good and perfect gift comes from above." So, even though you can't tame your tongue, when God has the reins, HE CAN!
Our words are so important. The words we speak tell us the condition of our hearts and they have the power to bring life or death. Join us as we talk about the importance of our words.
Is your faith something that can be verified by your actions? So often we think that all all that's important is a profession of faith, but James says that if that profession is not accompanied by good deeds, than that faith may not be saving faith at all, it may just be the same kind of transformless faith that the demons have.
We are called as Believers in Christ to be unspotted by the world. See, the world has a certain value system by which it interacts with people, but Jesus has called us to a different value system, a value system based on love, mercy, and empathy. Join us for this study in James chapter 2.
What is your worldview? This question may not seem very significant but it is one of the most significant questions we can ask because if you have a worldview that is not consistent with reality, then everything you see and understand will be skewed. When we give in to temptation, ultimately we don't have a "circumstance" problem, we don't have a "people" problem, we don't have a "devil" problem, and we don't have a "God" problem. The ultimate problem we have is a "desire" problem. So, what is the deepest desire of your heart? Because that desire will always win, whether good or bad. The good news is, God can change our hearts.
God's ultimate goal in our lives is to bring us to a place of maturity. So, what does Christian maturity look like? Well, let's start with how we respond to trials. Join us this week as we begin a verse by verse series in the book of James.
Like Zacchaeus, we all are in need of forgiveness. We all are guilty of sin. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost- That includes you and me. If you've ever wondered if God could forgive you- wonder no more and take heart from this story in Luke 19.
For everything there is a season... And for Job, the season of suffering has finally ended. Because of Job's response to his suffering- Job will live the latter part of his life more blessed than the first! But what id Job didn't respond the way he did? How would his story have ended? In moments of suffering, do you ever wonder if God "falls asleep at the wheel"? Do you ever entertain the thought that God is incompetent? Well, if so you're not alone because Job did too. But as we will see today, when we accuse God of divine incompetence, we are essentially saying to Him that If we were God, we'd do things better. Join us as we study the answer that God gives Job.
The mystery in question that is on Job's mind is: "Why this suffering?" God answers Job by asking Job this: "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation and cornerstone?" Considering what we know now about the cross of Jesus- this is the most important question to consider from God when wresting with the mystery of suffering. Are you wondering about your suffering? Who is this fourth friend Elihu? Why is Elihu not rebuked by God? Join us as we talk about five important points that Elihu makes. These five points are super applicable for all of us and especially those of us who have been through unjust suffering.

When Jesus left earth and went to heaven, his ministry didn't stop- it actually continued and still continues through the body of Christ today. Ephesians 4 tells us that every believer in Jesus has been gifted by Jesus so that Jesus can continue to do his ministry here on earth through us. So rather than one successor, all of us as believers collectively are his successors. (Or more correctly, he never stopped working his ministry, he just does it now thru the Church.) What part do we play in our growth as believers in Jesus? Does it even matter what we do? In this study, the Apostle Peter is countering the false teachers of the day who encouraged the believers to be complacent with their faith. They taught that because Salvation is by faith, and not based on good works, you can just live however you want. This was causing the believers to be ineffective and unproductive in their Christian lives. Peter makes it clear that, yes salvation is by faith alone apart from good works, but we still need to work at this so that our lives look more and more like Jesus as time goes on. And if we aren't working at growing in our character of life, then it says something about our faith. In other words this Christian life takes effort. And the part we play really does matter.

No one likes to wait a long time for the things they really want, but sometimes that is the best place to be. The temptation however will be to take a short-cut in order to get the thing we really want. Here in Genesis 15, ten years have passed since God promised Abraham a son – Abraham is now 85 years old – and he still has no son. What's intriguing to me is that even thou Abraham had fears and doubts God still says that he had unwavering faith (Romans 4:20). How could that be? Well we will see today that the way to have unwavering faith is to believe in the One who is unwavering.
After every mountaintop experience we will be faced with a valley and in that valley we will be given the choice between kings and kingdoms. The King of the Mountain also needs to be the King of the valley. Today we will see Abram, as he has just had an amazing mountaintop experience, enter the "kings valley" where he is met by two kings. And who our king is in the valley is even more important to our spiritual life that who our King is on the Mountaintop. As we look at this battle in Genesis 14 we will see a picture of a victorious believer who by faith obtains the victory.
We are faced with choices every day. Some of our choices are more challenging than others. How do we know that the choices we make are good, godly choices? Today we will see the choices of two men- Abram and Lot. Abram will show us an example of choices made by faith and Lot will show us an example of choices made by the flesh.
How do we grow in our faith? One of the ways is thru trials and hardships. In our study today Abram is right in the center of the Lords will and there is a famine in the land. Abram now is forced to either trust in God or trust in himself for the way out. Abram will choose to trust in himself, but God will still save him despite himself. Ultimately, Abram's faith will grow through his own failure.

Noah's flood is a literal event in history that teaches us practical and spiritual applications for our lives today. In our study in Genesis 7, we will look at the way that the story of the flood illustrates to us as Christians the journey of Salvation and how God keeps us safe through the storm till the end. In the same way that God had not forgotten Noah, God has not forgotten us!
The story of Noah's Ark and the flood seems to be (to many people) a happy story about animals and rainbows. Today we will see that the reality of this story is something quite terrifying. As God judges the entire world, there is only one safe place to be- the Ark- and that Ark was available through the obedience of one man- Noah. Who were these Son's of God and Daughter's of men and who were these "nephilim" or "giants" that were born from them? Well, we will look at the two different views and find that the application in our lives is the same whatever the view is that you take.

Men and women are different. We were created by God to show a special aspect of God's image. The greatest 2 places this image of God is seen is in the realm of marriage and family. We live in a world that is raging an all out attack on the family- we will see today why this is so important to Christians. Is there really a devil, and if so, what are his tactics? Why do we give into temptation? Is there a way we can recognize the schemes of temptation? If so, how do we overcome temptation when it comes? This week we will look at Genesis 3 and discover that the same tactics Satan used in the Garden to tempt Eve are the same timeless tactics he uses today to tempt us. We will discover that God is always only good and He can be trusted above all else!
We as human beings were made to live in relationship with God and with each other. In this chapter we will see that God is not only the all powerful creator God, but He is also the all loving covenant God. At the same time we will see that even though Adam had a real living intimate relationship with God, God still looked at Adam and said that it was not good for man to be alone. Why did He say this? Isn't it good enough to simply have a relationship with God alone? Well, the Bible actually says that we were made for both God and each other. The Bible holds the love of God and the love of neighbor so high on the list of importance that they cannot be separated.
Who are we as humans beings? Are we just a superior species of animal? Where is our place in the creative order. What we will learn today is that out of all God's creation we are the most valued and special of beings of all! We have a purpose and a worth that is rooted in our Creator! We were meant to live for so much more!

As a church, we have a mission to preach to the lost, to provide for the poor and also to pray for the mission and the ministry. Sometimes we, even though we know prayer is powerful, we can act as though prayer is less important or secondary than the others. But what we learn from this passage along with the backdrop in Acts, is that this mission is war against the kingdom of darkness and we need to pray. A fruitful ministry is the spoils of prayer.

God cares about all people of the world and He wants the church to have a heart for the un-reached and un-discipled people groups of the world as well. Here in Romans 14, Paul makes a theological mountain out of an ethical molehill and he tells us how God treats people of all different cultures and backgrounds, and we are taught here that in light of God- this is how we are to treat each other.
Are there any gray areas in the Bible? How do we act toward each other as Christians when we have different convictions on non-essentials?Do we make legalistic rules across the board, or do we let everyone do whatever they feel like, or do we yield in love? Join us in our study.
Satan wants us all ineffective for the Kingdom of God and there are many ways the enemy tries to pick us off and if he can’t get you lethargic, he’ll do everything in his power to get you pathetic. Satan wants to destroy your life, your witness, your testimony, and your love, but there are some practical things that we can do to be sure that doesn't happen. Here in Romans 13 we are told 3 specific categories of sin to rid from our lives. In light of the present time that we live in, these things have no place in our lives. God want's to use us and we need to wake up!
Spiritual lethargy is the norm for many believers today. As we get sidetracked and busy with our everyday lives, we often find ourselves far from where we want to be. Satan wants us to be sleeping and ineffective when it comes to the Kingdom of God, but the alarm clock is going off today! God wants us to love people and shine the light of Jesus to a lost world! We can't settle with casual Christian lukewarmness! We need a revival and that revival starts with me, it starts with you.
What is the one thing that God really wants for us to do? If he was to pick one thing, what would it be? Jesus was asked, "of all the commandments, which is the greatest?" Jesus answered.....LOVE! LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS! As we will see in our study today, all of God's commands are summed up under this one heading: LOVE
With all the rioting in Baltimore along with so much other unrest in our Country it's not hard to make the Bible relevant - When it comes to arguments about the police and the governmental authorities how are we as Christians supposed to act and react? Well, the Bible is clear that we are supposed to submit, honor, and respect all those in authority over us. But what does that look like? Does that mean we are supposed to always just swallow and follow? Is there ever a time when it is okay to disobey the Authorities? Join us this week for a Biblical perspective on authority.
When people harm us, it can be hard to not want to get them back. How do you react when someone mistreats you? Do you respond in anger and revenge or do you respond in love? For most of us, our default mode is anger or revenge or getting even- but God wants us to respond differently. If we want to be a church that loves like Jesus, we need to set our default reaction mechanism to Love.
The Bible teaches us that love is supposed to be the main characteristic of the Church. Jesus said by this all people will know that we belong to Him, by the love we have one for another- not by the programs we have, not by the attendance we have, or the cool worship music- but by our love. Well, if this is THE main way that the world will know that we belong to Jesus, what do you think Satan will work hard at keeping us from doing? Love really matters!

These are all important questions to ask and in order to discover God's will for our lives, we need to have a right understanding of the church.
Most of us want to know what God's perfect will is for our lives, but is it possible to really know? If so, how do we position ourselves in a place where we are able to discern His will? Romans 12 gives us some very practical steps that we need to take to be able to test and approve of God's good, pleasing and perfect will for our lives.
Is it possible to know God's perfect will for my life? Often we are in angst over the questions like: What job Should I take? What person should I marry? What school should i go to? Where should I live? While all of these are good questions, there are some practical steps that we need to take before we can get the answers to these questions. In this study we will talk about seven practical steps that we need to take to discover God's will for our lives.
Israel is a people loved by God. They were a nation that was cultivated by the loving care of God. As a gardener tends to an Olive tree so too God tended to the nation Israel. But as time went on, because of unbelief the Nation stopped producing fruit. Then God pruned the tree and grafted in some wild Olive shoots. If you are a Gentile you are the wild shoot that has been grafted into the Olive tree. So, is there no hope for Israel? As we will see today- God still has a plan for them. He is able to graft them in again if they do not persist in unbelief. You may ask, "Is there no hope for my unbelieving family or friends who seemed so hardened to the gospel? Yes- there is always hope!
If you don't have a heart for the lost, why not? Are you content with that? For those of us who want to reach people with the message of Jesus love, how do we do it? What does it look like? With all of the people in the world that need Jesus- it can get overwhelming and sometimes discouraging. Fact or feeling? Sometimes it may feel like God is not on our side. Sometimes we may question if God is really for us, but what our feelings tell us are often times different than what the facts tell us. God is for us, but the question arises- If God is all loving and all-powerful, then why does God allow evil and suffering to exist?
