Blood Origins is an non-profit organization bringing unique storytelling and conservation together to change not only how hunting is viewed, but also how we fund conservation programs around the world more efficiently and effectively.
Down To The Wire co-founder Marilet Louw joins the podcast this week to share the DTTW story, from a kitchen floor in South Africa with her mates to what it is today, Robbie and Marilet dive deep into the company, the origins behind it, and the yeoman’s job it does that is putting back money to help wildlife.

Wayne Van Den Bergh of Nyamazana Safaris out of Zimbabwe joins the show this week. Wayne doesn’t own land or operate massive concessions with big fences, he works with rural development councils in open areas that have wildlife, humans and cattle, and most of his business comes from dealing with problem elephants- one of the most controversial hunts in the world. And Wayne is interacting with elephants and people all the time. This is definitely a perception changing podcast for those that may not have any idea.

Wayne is the general manager of Tequesquite Ranch in Southwest Texas. The epitome of an old school Texas rancher, Wayne continues our Texas High Fence podcast series with some very strong opinions about what constitutes hunting, versus killing. This series of podcasts is purposefully being put out there to challenge our thinking about the idea of high fences - what they are, what they mean for hunting, and ask tough questions about them.

Kaitlin is the daughter of a very experienced hunter and comes from a family in the outdoor industry, running a high fence operation west of San Angelo, Texas. In this third installment of our Texas High Fence exploration series, she and Robbie sit down to talk about the property and the management and, above all, the care of the animals on the property - which is second to none. Kaitlin’s perspective as a young, 25-year-old woman raised in a family that hunted as much as they did and got into the business of high fence operations is unique, and worth a listen.

Bribery, corruption. Hunters just come in and pay people off, right? Wrong. Jeff McCollum is a land manager in Mocambique. His perspective is critical, because it provides the context we need to understand what it takes to manage a preserve in Africa, and dispels many of the myths and stereotypes about doing business in Africa that fuel anti-hunting tropes.

We're starting something new. We get a lot of questions - whether through instagram, FB messenger, email or otherwise making us aware of so many topics - we decided to create a place where we address them all every week. In this inaugural roundup, Robbie and Cody tackle the New Mexico trapping bill, the wolf quota in Wisconsin, Africa, disingenuous attacks by anti-hunters, and the hypocrisy of ecotourists hating hunting for killing but loving mother nature being as violent as she can be. Have information we need to know about?

Cayce De Simone is an avowed lifelong vegetarian and mother who has come through her years to understand who hunters are, even marrying one. She is from the interior of British Columbia, where hunting ban issues of large carnivore hunting and possibly other species are coming to a head. So her perspective as a non-hunter in the interior of British Columbia is likely the most valuable perspective we as hunters could have. In this podcast, we hear directly from Cayce about what her perspective of hunting used to be like, what it is today, and why it has changed. Remember that she is a vegetarian, because she will sound like a hunter.

Katie Hargreaves is an exceptional artist that typically focuses on wildlife as her subject of choice. She is a highly intelligent individual that has chosen to be Vegan. So it would surprise you that last December she went hunting for Chinese water deer, and she actually pulled the trigger herself. Why? Why did a Vegan decide she was okay taking the life of an animal? Isn't that totally contrary to what a Vegan believes? The answer is no in Katie's mind.

There is a stigma associated with the duck hunting world. A stigma where women are nice to have around in the blind, not a need to have. A stigma where one could ask "do they really belong?", after all this is a man's world. Well, the stigma has never met Ashton. Ashton wasn't raised a hunter but she knew that there was something buried in her blood that was drawing her to the outdoors. Her calling was duck hunting and you will struggle to find a more passionate, die-hard duck hunter than Ashton, male or female alike. And oh yes, she can operate a duck call better than most men.
