This is it, the big finale.
I hope you have enjoyed every second of this podcast, every beautiful word of this book.
10 years of One Book at SJC - that's a true community of readers.
xoxo, Mrs. M.
(see you for final trivia on Zoom on Feb 29, 7pm)
Today is a 2-Part broadcast, from our VP, Mr. O'Keefe. Be sure to listen to the second installment to hear Chapter 42. This one is chapters 39-41 only. Thanks!
She's not just a math expert, she also loves to read! From 7th grade, enjoy the dulcet tones of Mrs. Hynes.
You know her from the STREAM lab. She's been with the SJC library for almost 30 years. Our own, Mrs. Forster!
Yahoo! This is our 10th annual One School One Book here at SJC. And the book we have this year is one of my all-time faves.
I know, I know, I've said that before. But it's true!
Welcome to Wishtree, by Katherine Applegate.
Listen all month and get ready for trivia questions at school. The final trivia contest for all families will take place on Thursday, Feb 29, 7pm on Zoom. Stay tuned for more details.
Thank you everyone for listening and reading!
This ends another year of reading together during One School One Book. Be sure to come to Trivia Night with your whole family, on Zoom, on Friday, March 3rd.
Thank you Ms. Swiecicki - just one more day to go! Trivia for these chapters on Monday!
Please welcome Mrs. Kennedy to our podcast for the first time ever! She will also read Chapter 17 - in another post today.
Two posts today - both from Mrs. Hynes. She's good at math AND reading. Trivia tomorrow.
Welcome Mrs. Blouin - always lovely to hear you read. Trivia for this chapter is tomorrow morning!
Hope you had a fun weekend. Today you'll hear the dulcet tones of Mrs. Floros reading Chapter 5. Trivia tomorrow!
Stella Diaz Has Something to Say, by Angela Dominguez
Welcome back for another month of reading together with our friends, families and teachers. Today you'll hear Chapters 1 and 2 read by Mrs. Michalowski. Tomorrow, we'll have our first trivia question.
ENJOY! I love this book - you'll learn some Spanish, cheer for Stella, and visit some of the best sites in Chicago.
Read by Mrs. Michalowski. I can't believe it's over - but guess what. It's not!
If your heart is broken, you can heal it quick by getting a copy of The Wild Robot Escapes, and reading this thrilling, wonderful sequel to this fantastic book.
And more good news: a 3rd book, The Wild Robot Protects, is due out in Summer 2023.
Welcome to our 8th annual One School One Book.
This story is probably my personal favorite so far. Peter Brown gives us a tale of technology, nature, getting in touch with your wild side, being a parent, being a child, learning to listen, learning to speak, feeling empathy, practicing patience, fighting for those you love, and finding out why sacrifice - the kind that hurts - is so important. The Wild Robot is just...everything. Sigh.
I hope you read and listen as a family or with your SJC friends, and it makes these long, cold winter nights a little warmer and sweeter.
Enjoy! -Mrs. M
The last chapter, bringing another month of reading together to a close. Today, we have the wonderful Mrs. Moore to close out our journey with Humphrey.
However, your journey doesn't need to end! Check out the many more books about Humphrey's adventures and keep reading! And we'll see you next year for another One School One Book classic.
Click Here for all the books in the Humphrey Series.
Yes, she's knows her numbers - but did you know she's an avid reader as well? Here's Mrs. Payleitner!
Sorry for the glitch last night and this morning with this chapter - here is the REAL chapter 7, read by our own Mrs. Harding!
Welcome to The World According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney.
At last, our 7th annual One Book reading begins. Prepare to meet Humphrey, a mischievous hamster who keeps busy meddling in the lives of students, teachers and everyone he meets.
This February, you'll read along with teachers and staff from SJC and every day at school we will have trivia questions on the previous night's chapter. And as always, there will be prizes.
The World According to Humphrey by Betty G. Birney - enjoy,
Mrs. Michalowski
It's been an honor and a delight to read straight through all seven of the Harry Potter books. It began on in mid-March 2020 and it ends, fittingly I think, on Christmas Day, 2020. I hope listening has brought you as much comfort and joy as reading brought to me, in this very strange and uncertain year. Taking refuge in reading can help you survive and thrive, even in the most difficult days. Never stop reading and listening to stories, whatever your age.
THANK YOU for going on this journey with me. And thank you to JK Rowling for the precious gift of Harry Potter.
-Mrs. M
The final showdown - but not the last chapter....tune in tomorrow for the final act of the Harry Potter series.
Harry...a godfather?
*Also, from here on out, tune in every day up until Christmas 2020, when the final chapter (the Epilogue) will post.
Here we go! The final book, #7, in the Harry Potter series. Get ready - it's going to be a very scary, exciting, difficult year ahead for all of our favorite characters (and some of our favorite villains as well). Enjoy.
A haunting send-off for the dead, and an ominous future for the living.
COMING SOON: The final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. After almost 8 months of reading 4-7 chapters each week, we have come to the final book. I admit, I didn't think the pandemic would last as long as it has, but one silver lining has been the joy I've had reading your comments and watching as listeners from around the world have tuned in to my little school podcast, from our small village outside Chicago.
One more book to go! Thank you for listening.
-Mrs M
PS: have a safe and happy Halloween 2020.
Note to self: don't use curses that you find scrawled in the margins of other people's books...
Harry discovers the work of the mysterious HBP and wins a very interesting prize in Potions class.
A visit to Fred and George's amazing joke shop - and a Draco sighting in the Dark Arts alley.
