when i started dj'ing in 2001, i lived in orlando, florida where breakbeat is king. i started spinning nuskool and progressive breaks and the production team of john ross and joe williams aka the light and proper filthy naughty were putting out banger after banger. they were on mix compliations from sasha, adam freeland, nick warren, and other global dj's.
this mix is my nod to the light. thanks for the great music and amazing memories!

i grew up in the 80's listening to bands like depeche mode and the eurythmics and then discovered freestyle which then morphed into industrial dance and then into house music. like everything else in my life, i am all over the place. i wanted to make a mix of something I would go out and dance to or the type of nightclub i would frequent in my earlier days.

DJ Sasha has been the biggest inspiration to me since I discovered dance music. It was in college that i listened to the Northern Exposure series first, his seminal dj mix compilations he and his partner John Digweed had released here in the states. It was their mix of thick low end progessive techno and beautiful, melodic trance that i connected with.
Since then, both have gone on to become leaders in the electronic dance community and have established their own labels to help bring to the public the new up and coming producers. Sasha's most recent venture called Last Night on Earth has been conistently putting out amazing new music and I have compiled some of my favorites into this tribute mix.
