This is nothing Adorno had in mind when he wrote his major thesis. However it is somehow relevant in the context of everyday life.

There is not much to say about this. It‘s originally a recording of a broken record player playing side A of 1967-record. The needle sped through most of the record in second, then hanging towards the end. So that constitutes the source material for what I made of this. It’s not the original analog recording anymore, but rather a unique sound piece on its own.
for best listening experience: drive along an empty backcountry road at night. Have on your car stereo.

Arriving at Greysland I was struck by the noise the birds were making. So I grabbed my phone and recorded them. — After a minute the whole scenery went almost silent.
Birds were flying as if leaving. But only briefly.
They decided to settled down again on the tree and continued their noisy chatter.

I would like to say: IT‘S ALL ANALOG!
… but there is no such thing as all analog with a digital medium.
But here is the thing: it‘s old records played on a record player that’s not at all working properly. Should I say: it’s an experimental remix? - no. It’s not a remix. It’s what’s left over of a once brilliant signal.

„Die Truppenaushebung“ translates into „the conscription“. It is mostly about the absurdities of the bureaucracy of the draft. And it’s fictional.
I am not a sound performer. However, the rain outside made me doing this. It was the opposite of fell-good outside, so I got out into the nasty February weather to make a recording of the short-story.
After Episode 42, this is the second episode that has a Kafka theme.

PA09 "toni's award" is probably one of the funniest podcast in the Printed Audio podcast series. Back then, there was an alternative or rather the original Version which was created copying the style of "Benjamin Walker's Theory of Everything".
Now, of course it was not as good as Benjamin's ToE, but it was a lot of fun playing around with the tools and the design of the audio.
and: ... i am a big fan of ToE!
So in the end this version was only briefly online in July 2020 before I replaced it with a truly PA-Version. ... but 18 month later, the original copycat version of "toni's award" is back again. ... and this time permanently

Well that's a test and I'd say I'll try and maybe he's kind of faster than Newton. My advice on this is now open. Well that's a start, I had this dog. When I was a kid when we wounded our - and girls, it is in the stork for some reason. He bit me when I was trying to teach him a lesson about an event we should like to tarnish.
Robin Antin give him kindness in my game so it was actually a strong dog and he was when he ran. I found it really hard to hold him back. Isn't that my underlined cologne and that mutant crazy to think that Antonio has a good soul.

So this is a bohemian Soundpiece. It took about 10 min to record and 20 min to mix. No preparation. One take for the piano, one take for the speech-Improvisation. It‘s short, it‘s fun, it‘s in German.
Listening setup: Have a Glas of red whine and try to empty it, while the podcast is rolling. Repeat as many times as you deem appropriate.
Extra challenge (after the 3rd Glas of Wine): Try to speak the text along the soundpiece (not drinking wine this time)

but ... this piece is exhausting
it's as exhausting as the division between people of different political opinion in the united state, in the world you could say. so there it is: two inauguration speeches - Trump's and Obama's - side by side, talking different things and yet sometimes the same. and it is hard to bear listening to this. as hard as listening to people who don't talk to each other, but rather talk their points. Not seeking common ground, but to succeed.

This is an audio-piece I did after reading Franz Kafka's „Passers-by“. Since it goes along with a heavy soundscape, i would call it an enhanced reading – in German. You can read the original text and the translation below. It was definitely fun doing it.

Wenn man in der Nacht durch eine Gasse spazieren geht, und ein Mann, von weitem schon sichtbar — denn die Gasse vor uns steigt an und es ist Vollmond -, uns entgegenläuft, so werden wir ihn nicht aufpacken, selbst wenn er schwach und zerlumpt ist, selbst wenn jemand hinter ihm läuft und schreit, sondern wir werden ihn weiterlaufen lassen.
Denn es ist Nacht, und wir können nicht dafür, daß die Gasse im Vollmond vor uns aufsteigt, und überdies, vielleicht haben diese zwei die Hetze zu ihrer Unterhaltung veranstaltet, vielleicht verfolgen beide einen dritten, vielleicht wird der erste unschuldig verfolgt, vielleicht will der zweite morden, und wir würden Mitschuldige des Mordes, vielleicht wissen die zwei nichts voneinander, und es läuft nur jeder auf eigene Verantwortung in sein Bett, vielleicht sind es Nachtwandler, vielleicht hat der erste Waffen.

this time really a field recoding.
river Oder marks the borderline between Germany and Poland. especially up north it is an area that is rather scarcely populated and ideally suited for a lot of birds to dwell. storks are at home here, as well as wild geese, falcons and eagles.
there is nothing to add or edit. when you encounter wildlife at 5 am, you are just taken away by the multitude of bird sounds.
