Isis-Imon a/k/a "Iciy Hot" has been trained in the performing arts since a youth. She writes music, sings, raps, dances, acts, and models. She has recorded through the years with seasoned artists and producers dropping her vocals on various compilation projects. She's an impactful entertainer with the intent to inspire. This ambiguous and philosophical young lady with a beautiful soul is hands-on with every project. A professional that always works to do her best and stays ready. This talented, musically inclined artist is steadily heading towards worldwide recognition. Thus far, this proud Brookly-nite's accomplishments have been graduating for the NYC's own Talented Unlimited High School along with prominent celebrity alumni as Mos Def (hip-hop artist/actor) and Angela Bofill (Singer/Songwriter), to name a few. She has performed side by side with rap artist Common at Carnegie Hall. She has also made appearances on Off-Broadway Plays with The Alpha NYC Theater Company, performed in Momma's Foundation Gospel for Teens Concert's, and honed her talent performing at such showcases as world-renowned SOB's.
Isis is also a featured dancer at School of Blyss, a dance company founded by known choreographer Kevin "Nino Bez" Hunte, whose appearance on Fox network's own "So You Think You Can Dance" made him known throughout the entertainment industry.
Isis has also been vocally trained by industry know coaches Craig Darry and Gordan Chambers. She is cementing her foundation on her journey to stardom. This multi-talented artist is a super-star in the making. One day the world will know the name Isis-Imon.

Monty Ross is an industry vet with 35 years of experience as an actor, producer and director. His production experience runs the gamut from studio features to lower budgeted independent productions shot on locations ranging from Brooklyn, NY and New Orleans, LA to Pamplona, Spain and Saudi Arabia. After attending Clark Atlanta University, Ross starred in Spike Lee's award winning thesis film, Joe's Bed Stuy Barbershop (We cut Heads). Moving from acting to production supervising, Ross managed day to day operations for Spike Lee's award winning, indie blockbuster film, She's Gotta Have it. Ross was promoted to Vice President of Production at 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, Inc., a production company co-founded by with Spike Lee. As a member of Spike's production team, Ross helped turn out such hits as: School Daze, Do the Right Thing, Mo Betta Blues, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, Crooklyn and Clockers. Ross went on to produce former Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.'s story, Keep the Faith Baby for Showtime/Paramount Television. Most recently Ross directed the award winning film, The Opera Game for Ken Mask Studios, and served as producer for Love Dot Come and executive producer for 1 Angry Black Man for Soulidify Productions. He also served as line producer for the Sweet Unknown Studios recent release, River Runs Red, directed by Wes Miller, starring George Lopez, Taye Diggs and John Cusack.

Magaly is a first-generation Haitian-American actress/playwright/ director/producer. She founded Conch Shell Productions to support/showcase new works by Caribbean-American and other artists of the Caribbean diaspora who have an expanded view of reality and a passion for innovative story telling. A native New Yorker, she received a B.A. from Columbia University, an MBA from Binghamton University, and an MFA in Acting from Yale School of Drama. Magaly is a member of SAG/AFTRA, AEA, The Actors Center, The Dramatist Guild, The Actors Studio Playwrights & Directors' Unit. Magaly plays "Antoinette Pierre" in Netflix original serieGRAND ARMY. Magaly founded the Conch Shell International Film Festival (CSIFF) to promote short films and screen plays written by artists from the Caribbean and the Caribbean Diaspora. When asked why she created the festival, Magaly states, “Film festivals are a great place to meet like-minded, passionate artists and bond with a community of film lovers who share common interests and tastes. Founding Conch Shell International Film Fest is my way of saying “Welcome. We see you. We honor your brilliance” to talented artists of the Caribbean diaspora and the Caribbean”. She goes on to say, “It’s a means by which to empower, encourage, and celebrate the cultural influences of the 26 Caribbean nations and the creativity of generations of artists. Chef Karen is a Georgia Grown member and over the years has provided cooking demonstrations at Grady Memorial Hospital for its diabetic patients. She joined First Lady Michelle Obama’s Chefs Move to Schools initiative, working with the Drew Charter School in Atlanta, and volunteered at Project Open Hands. She has also partnered with Atlanta Area Schools for the deaf, providing needed skills to students needed to work in a restaurant environment.

As a young Syrian Kurdish refugee washing dishes in a restaurant to support his family, Heval Kelli could not know that many years later he would be a distinguished fellow in cardiology at a university less than one mile from where his journey in the United States began. Facing a steep language learning curve, a monthly rent payment, and mountains of dirty dishes, Heval knew things could be much worse. He and his family fled persecution in Syria where his father was beaten and imprisoned by the police. As members of the Kurdish minority, the family had few choices and paid a smuggler to get them out. His family arrived in Germany in 1996 and lived in refugee camps till 2001. A circuitous route of migration finally brought them to the United States 2 weeks after the 9/11 where they were assisted by members of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in their adjustment and resettlement in Clarkston, Georgia. Through a network of caring community members, Heval was introduced to Dr. Omar Lattouf, an Emory cardiothoracic surgeon who took an interest in mentoring him through his undergraduate pre-med work at Georgia State University and his admission to Morehouse School of Medicine where he graduated cum laude and selected by his classmate as "Most Inspiring Person" award. He finished his internal medicine residency training at Emory University and received recognition as resident of the year as well as honorable distinctions in social and inpatient medicine. Dr. Kelli was awarded the Katz Foundation Fellowship in Preventative Cardiology at Emory University where he completed his cardiology fellowship in 2020. As a result of his life experiences, Dr. Kelli is a steadfast advocate for serving communities in need especially immigrant, refugee and minority communities. He is a co-founder of several non-profit organizations focused on medical mentorship (Young Physician Initiative & U-Beyond) and healthcare outreach.

The online award show consists of 28 awards, one for each day of February, that will post on Black Nerds Club’s Instagram page, @blacknerdsclub. The Nerdies celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of black nerds and raises awareness of their contributions to culture and community through their passionate commitment to their nerdy pursuits.
This ovation is a tribute to this unique grouping and of their enrollment in black excellence in the areas of music, technology, fashion, the arts and beyond. The world is welcomed to join in this celebration of greatness. Black Nerds’ goal is to ignite a conversation about the powerful role black nerds play in culture and the need for it to be highlighted.

Tamera Currington never imagined that her desire to create a safe place for women of color around health and wellness would result in such success. Her Vegan Soul Sistuhs Facebook and Instagram groups have exceeded her wildest expectations while creating a platform for growth and discovery. The Facebook group is a dream for anyone that is curious about a vegan, vegetarian, vegan-ish or a plant-based lifestyle. It is ripe with recipes, questions about transitioning to healthier eating, health tips, and is managed by over 100 administrators.
Vegan Soul Sistuhs was founded out of the love for Tamera’s then 20-year-old daughter that was suffering from congestive heart failure. Together they adapted a plant based, vegan diet and the results were astounding. Tamera released 60 pounds and was able to make adjustments to her medication while her overall health increased. Her daughter, after suffering two strokes, was able to double her heart function and was on the mend. She was sure that other could benefit from this information and so began her labor of love. Two years later, Vegan Soul Sistuhs has grown to over 40,000 members, and continues to thrive. Branded merchandise includes t-shirts, hoodies, bags, and cook books. This year she is planning her first retreat in Jamaica and has launched an additional Facebook group, “VeganSoulsistuhs & the BrothasWhoLove em”, so the men can feel the love too. A new partnership finds Vegan Soul Sistuhs expanding beyond social media. You can expect to see them in your city soon conducting cooking classes, workshops and other branded events.

Jaz-O (@TheRealJazO) has been a mainstay in the music industry for over 30 years. The Marcy Houses, Brooklyn born and raised rap legend has initiated the careers of Jay-Z, Irv Gotti, Sauce Money, The Lox, Chad Elliott, and Memphis Bleek to name a few. Recalling his first rhyme at the age of 14, he had co-written and produced his first record, "HP Gets Busy" at the age of 21. This song featured his 16 year old “partner in crime”, Jay-Z and friends, Easy LD (E. Ward) and Almond Joy (J. Ward). In 1986 Jaz-O teamed up with music producer Fresh Gordon to create the answer to RUN DMC's "My Adidas" with "My Fila". The young songwriter-MC/producer continued his reign of terror in the streets, destroying challengers in MC battles local and abroad. In 1989 Jaz-O blasted onto the mainstream media with his debut single, "Hawaiian Sophie", and a debut feature on The O'Jays number one single "Have You Had Your Love Today?” Jaz-O was the first rap artist ever signed to EMI Records. He released two albums and an EP from 1989-1991. Along with Prince Paul, The Large Professor, and Mark The 45 King, Jaz produced several records for his projects. After taking a hiatus in 1992, Jaz-O re-emerged in ‘96 producing the Jay-Z classic "Ain't No Nigga”. Jaz continued his string of production classics for Jay-Z including "In My Lifetime-The Big Jaz Remix", "Rap Game-Crack Game", and featured on Jay-Z cuts "Bring It On" and "Nigga Who? Nigga What?” Producer of the demo that landed The Lox their deal with Bad Boy, Jaz-O has arranged for the likes of Puffy, Rakim, M.O.P., Foxy Brown, Queen Latifah, Kool G Rap and numerous others. But Jaz is most well known for his 'triplet style' of rhyming, which he is majestically titled "The Originator".

Founder of NABFEME, the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment, Inc., and creator of the Women Who Jam! an all female artistic movement, Johnnie Walker holds the distinction of being named the first female Sr. Vice President of Promotion for the Island Def Jam Music Group and the only female to ever hold that position for the company. In 2005, Walker was honored with the Woman of Conscience Award from Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rainbow/PUSH. Ms Walker also received Delta Sigma Theta’s 2006 Osceola Award, the highest honor given to professionals in the arts. In 2009 Women’s eNews named Walker as one of New York's 21 Leaders for the 21st Century. In 2010, Memphis newspaper, the Tri State Defender, named Johnnie Walker a “Woman of Excellence.” Walker’s career began as a country music radio personality. She later segued to a Black music radio opportunity in Memphis, TN at KRNB. In 1989, Johnnie Walker's marketing zeal brought her to the attention of Russell Simmons at Def Jam Recordings, where he wooed her from a career in radio broadcasting to become one of the label’s regional marketing reps. Within one year she was promoted from Regional Promotions Manager, to National Director of Promotion. The Sr. National Director position soon followed and positioned Johnnie to be instrumental in launching the careers of Redman, Method Man, Onyx, Montell Jordan and Foxy Brown! In 1997, Johnnie continued her "WIN" philosophy with a move to New York City where she assumed the position of Vice President of Promotion for Def Jam Recordings, Inc. Two years later, she restructured the company’s promotions department, created their much sought after “R&B Radio Promotions Guide,” and hired the company’s first national promotions field staff. This was most significant because the staff was primarily comprised of young, inexperienced field reps that Johnnie molded into a "winning force." Together, this force successfully marketed the Def Comedy Jam, Phat Farm clothing and Russell Simmons' co-produced movies, "The Nutty Professor,” Jackie Chan’s “Rush Hour 1 and 2” plus several #1 Gold and Platinum albums from Public Enemy, Jay-Z, Sisqo, Kelly Price, Ashanti, Ja Rule, DMX, LL Cool J, Musiq Soulchild, Dru Hill and others. In 2004 after 15 years of tenure at Def Jam Recordings, Johnnie Walker moved to Los Angeles, CA and accepted the position of Head of Black Music for DreamWorks Records, handling the musical careers of The Isley Brothers, Floetry, Burt Bacharach, Jon B and many others.

Abiah spent his childhood with his single mother, an accomplished musician who accompanied the late operatic Baritone William Warfield in earlier years. She introduced him to the singers who would become Abiah’s influences: Sarah Vaughn, Anita Baker and later Nina Simone. “They were great singers and song interpreters,” he says. “They were text painters and I believe that’s a lost art.” Abiah honed his skills through the years as a background singer for artists George Michael, Chuck Mangione, Amel Larrieux and Yolanda Adams while cutting his chops in opera as a voice major in college. By the time his debut album was released in 2006, Abiah already knew exactly what he brought to the table — a warm, engaging voice and unassailable taste in music. His debut album was an underground smash. His video Love For a While, a duet with Shanice Wilson became a hit on VH1 Soul and BET J. Not completely vacant from the music since his debut album, Abiah got practically handed an unexpected cottage industry, when he became an in-demand vocal coach. Initial inquiries from singer-friends impressed by his sound and range has blossomed into a side-business that finds him coaching major label artists, up-and-comers, solid pros hankering to rise up to that proverbial next level, and musical game show contestants hoping to impress celebrity judges with noticeably increased prowess. He also made an appearance on an Emmy nominated episode of MTV's MADE. But along with his passion for coaching artists and creating great music in the studio, performing is what Abiah loves most. “There is nothing like feeling and seeing the atmosphere change in a room,” he says. “It’s so important to be in touch with your audience. They come to hear music but leave with their lives changed because of the music. That is my job and calling." The new album, Life As A Ballad, boasts of gems like the gorgeous opener,"September", a well orchestrated melange of achingly mature lyric writing full throated, flowing and tautly controlled vocal drama, lush Beatles-esque harmonies and transcendent, transporting melodicism. There is also the poignant "Doves", a modern interpretation of a Prince classic, as well as seven other self-penned originals. But it’s hardly business as usual for this Rochester, NY native. It never is for Abiah, whose irrepressible spirit, engaging humor, and confident charisma once led Billboard magazine to call him “a singer with an innate ability for passionate songwriting that one cannot learn.” To help him capture the songs’ intimacy, Abiah turned to Blue Note recording artist Robert Glasper, who happens to be his cousin, guitarist/arranger Marvin Sewell, his long time collaborator, and co-producers Keith Witty and Ulysses Owens, Jr. “We definitely have a great chemistry in the studio which is why we were able to record the entire album in one day. Talk about a quick turn around," Abiah says with a laugh. “Robert added such beautiful fabric to the music. Marvin was overflowing with genius and Keith helped me to find all the "right" things like a mad scientist.”

She received a Grammy nomination for her contribution on the 2007 Roots hit, “Don’t Feel Right”, in the category of best rap song. Born in Richmond, VA Jarrard Anthony was best known as a 3yr old Chuck Berry impersonator. Demonstrating an early aptitude for writing songs to video game melodies, Anthony caressed his 1st keyboard on Christmas at age 10. By HS, he’d made a commitment to share his gifts and seriously study his craft, learning from influences as varied as Maurice White of Earth Wind and Fire, Sting, Jodeci, and the bright-voiced Corey Day from Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. While in school, Anthony joined an R&B group, Personal Preference, learning the art of compromise and collaboration that would later inform his writing for artists like Howard Hewitt, Franklin Roberts, Bobby Lyle, Tonia Woods and being sought after for studio work with Levi Little of Blackstreet, Tim Dillinger, CJ Lewis, and producer Joshua Thompson. Refinement in dance, voice, and performance came through 10,000 gladwell hrs of group rehearsals, lessons, talent show and local radio showcases, before eventually wowing the Apollo audience in NY, ultimately taking the Amateur night win. Jennifer Cruté started writing comics in 2003. She is featured in a Current TV segment about women in comics called "Kapow! The New Comic Book Heroines." At the East Coast Black Age of Comics convention (ECBACC), her strips were nominated for "Best Rising Star" in it's Glyph Comic Awards (GCA) category. Her cartoons were featured in "Bitch" magazine's 2009 winter issue. She was a finalist in Lambda Legal's "Life Without Fair Courts" contest and was also a speaker on the "Dark As Ink" panel at Skidmore College. Jennifer is also a painter and studies at the Art Students League of New York. She continues to develop a body of work in oil and mixed media. She has shown her work at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) museum in Brooklyn; The Limner Gallery in Hudson, N.Y.; And the Ocean Hill Arts Sanctuary in Brooklyn. Jenn recently completed a comic for adults entitled, “Jennifer's Journal The Life of a SubUrban Girl Vol 1.” It’s the first book in a series that chronicles the life of this quirky and freckle-face, African American illustrator and artist. Pages from actual journals illustrate this misfit’s upbringing in the suburbs of New Jersey and her daily interactions as an adult in New York City. She introduces several colorful characters which include a host of grumpy family members, schoolmates that tease and gossip, and her close friends Josephine and Maryland’s own awkward experiences. Jennifer’s imaginary companions also influence her actions; they range from the meditative "Miss Buddha Bear" to her nemesis "Sister Sympathy" and her gang. Born on Valentine’s Day, this Arizona-born songstress, songwriter & producer had sounds of soul music flowing through her veins at an early age. While voice training in those days started at her grandmother’s church, her professional singing career began as a child when she was chosen to sing background vocals for the legendary Jeffrey Osborne, and for the Rock Band Yes. Kangol is being honored by the American Cancer Society on May 17th at their annual Pink and Black Tie Gala in Brooklyn for the work he has done raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer with the Mama Luke Movement, which he co-founded with his friend and business partner Shaunda Lumpkin. In May 2010, Shaunda's mother Gay Frances Lucas aka Mama Luke lost her 3 year battle with breast cancer 2 weeks after enjoying a cruise of a lifetime when she joined Kangol and Shaunda on the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage. Mama Luke had the pleasure of meeting many classic Hip Hop artists on this cruise and, in hearing of her passing, many of them have joined Kangol to be part of Team Mama Luke's fundraising efforts. Jillian was born to be a sweet inspiration. She could've become a really inspiring lawyer, professor or heart surgeon, but the stage is her medium of choice. Her debut EP album Searching For Home (The Urban Gypsy EP) is heavily influenced by her Motown roots. “A few years ago, I sang inside of Studio A at Hitsville USA. The famous Studio A!!! While I was in that room, I did everything I could to soak up all of the hit-making karma and the mojo from the ones who did it best. Marvin. Stevie. The Temps. And of course, Ms. Ross. I want to make music that means something to people. And write songs that grow with you as you grow.” Her writing is heavily influenced by those greats as well as her degree in English Lit. and Afro-American Studies from The University of Michigan. “I’ve studied the best writers who’ve ever lived. I’ve analyzed Shakespeare’s wordplay and Frederick Douglass’ rhetoric. These things definitely creep into my writing style and hopefully will develop over the coming years.” The day after her UofM graduation, Jillian embarked on her professional performing career by auditioning for Aretha Franklin. Now living in New York City, she has already graced the stage at the infamous Village Underground, Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar and has held regular gigs at restaurants from Harlem to the West Village. Also a classically-trained actress, Ms. Walker has appeared in the off-broadway and National Black Theater Festival hit All American Girls: A Negro League of Their Own, played Edmund in King Lear, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Tituba in The Crucible, and Marvel Ann in Psycho Beach Party. Earlier this month she was seen playing the ingénue/budding pop-star Angelique in a New York premiere adaptation of Moliere's Imaginary Invalid and recently revisited the role of Tituba in The Crucible at The New Ohio Theater. She is not a stranger to film either, and has starred in short films and appeared in small roles on Law & Order: SVU. While no longer in Detroit, Jillian is staying close to her Motown roots as a member of the well-known Inspirational Ensemble of Convent Ave Baptist Church in Harlem, singing the gospel that formed the basis of R&B. Stacey Muhammad is an award winning filmmaker who has written, directed and produced a series of award winning short films of both the narrative and documentary genres. She has given presentations, lectures and participated in panel discussions in both the academic and non academic setting on a broad range of topics including independent filmmaking, hip hop culture and social issues. Ms. Muhammad served on the national staff for the planning of the Million Man March which served as inspiration for her first documentary film, "A Glimpse of Heaven, the Legacy of the Million Man March", released in 2005 to rave reviews. Since that time, the New Orleans native has begun the work of documenting and preserving Hip Hop culture through film and digital media and the creation of several award winning short films. Her work includes multi-media projects, music videos and short form films including, the award winning "I AM SEAN BELL, black boys speak", which made its film festival premier at the PATOIS, New Orleans International Human Rights Film Festival. An official selection to the HBO/Media that Matters Film Festival, where it was awarded the "Speaking Out Award", this film has received national acclaim and toured internationally, screening before audiences worldwide as part of the HBO / Media that Matters one year film festival tour. Her documentary film, "Out of our Right Minds, Trauma, Depression and the Black Woman" was released in March 2010 and has already received rave reviews. The film premiered at the PATOIS International Human Rights Film Festival in New Orleans, LA. Her latest project, (short narrative film) "FOR COLORED BOYS, REDEMPTION, starring Julito McCullum (The Wire) and Rob Morgan (Pariah) is currently on the festival circuit. As co-founder of Intelligent Seedz with activist / artist, Wise Intelligent, Stacey is committed to teaching youth the art of filmmaking and equipping them with the necessary tools to tell their stories. Here is an overview of P.O.P: The P.O.P Program will first open the minds of the teens to give them a sense of where their anger is rooted from. Then, it teaches them creative methods to redirect their anger when in a verbal altercation before it becomes physical. There are 7 methods of the P.O.P. program and it will teach kids to use these methods to turn their pain and anger into song, poem, or rap. POP methods include the POP Lock, Remote Control, Sponging, Baseline, Silent Chant, Creative Control, and Spray It. The POP Program feature poetry, rapping, singing, acting and short stories during the session. Some of the biggest rap superstars, like Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, use one of the methods of creating and retaining songs in their head. P.O.P is effective with all kids regardless of their background or race because this program has music involved in every POP method. Ethiopian-born, singer/songwriter Wayna possesses a voice that is as sweet and pure as it is honest and passionate. This young talent’s love for music started as a child, when she starred in theater productions like “Annie,” and “Damn Yankees” and toured with a children’s musical review company. Wayna went on to hone her vocal talents as a young adult by absorbing the works of her favorite artists, including Minnie Riperton, Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, and Donny Hathaway. While in college, Wayna was crowned Miss Black Unity of the University of Maryland in 1995, earning a one year tuition scholarship and special honors for “Best Talent” and “Best Response to Question” at the 17th annual pageant. The following year, she founded a gospel quartet and performed with the group at the World Famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY, where they placed as finalists in the Amateur Night competition. She traveled with the critically acclaimed University of Maryland Gospel Choir and regularly performed at churches and gospel showcases throughout the East coast. After earning a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in English and Speech Communication from the University of Maryland, Wayna began her professional career as a Writer in the White House for the Clinton administration. Henry himself is perhaps best recognized around the world as the sweet toned trombonist featured in the Rebirth Brass Band, Galactic, and trumpeter Kermit Ruffins’ band, The Barbecue Swingers. He has also recorded and played with the Dirty Dozen, Treme and New Birth Brass Bands. He has imparted his fiery melodies on stages everywhere from New Orleans neighborhood barrooms to far away festivals before hundreds of thousands in Canada, Japan Australia, Brazil, Hungary, Spain and Thailand and command performances for the ambassadors of Senegal, Morocco, Egypt and Kuwait. Long before teaming up with any these vanguard ensembles however, Henry, now 36, had been leading his own band for over twenty years. Like so many other eager young musicians in the Crescent City, he hung around older musicians to build his skills and develop his style. In 1985, the legendary musician, Anthony “Tuba Fats” Lacen, encouraged the 10-year-old prodigy, suggesting he put a band together. The Lil’ Rascals Brass Band has been together now for 26 years, still challenging second liners and rival bands with its hot beats. The ensemble has released two fine, very diverse albums. In 1998, they demonstrated their respect for traditional brass band music on We Shall Walk Through the Streets of the City which includes such classic numbers as “Paul Barbarin’s Second Line.” And in 2001 they released Buck It Like a Horse, a disc filled with sizzling original material, redefining a new era of brass band music. Since 2008, Henry has been touring with Galactic and has recorded 3 albums with them.In 2011, Henry started a new venture, establishing the Treme Funktet. It’s a funky sextet that’s comfortable moving from jazz to R&B and hip-hop, with an occasional visit to the second-line brass band style. “I wanted to explore something different—do some of my own material and share some of my own ideas,” Henry says of the freedoms offered by Treme Funktet. In 2012, Henry is a Grammy Winner with the Rebirth Brass Band for the album Rebirth of New Orleans in the Best Regional Roots Category. Now working on his solo album, Corey Henry plans to pay tribute to all the veteran New Orleans musicians from whom he learned his craft, absorbing all they had to offer. As a kid, he’d spend hours listening to trombonists like Trummy Young, J.J. Johnson, Al Grey and Jack Teagarden. He hails Fred Wesley as being especially influential to his musical approach. But no matter their style, these masters remain with Henry contributing to his wonderfully uncommon sophistication and tone.

Demetress ‘Nuwamba’ Cook isn’t your average neo-soul artist. Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, the singer/songwriter is fully aware of what the industry’s expectations are- he’s just totally unaffected by them. Nuwamba has been following his own rules since the second grade when he started singing in his grade school’s glee club. Growing up in one of the largest cities in Texas, his personality is a mix of pragmatism, sensibility, and down home comfort. The latter especially, is reflected in his music. His vocal presence is weighty over instrumentals, weaving itself throughout soft lyrics about love and relationships. For Nuwamba to never have been classically trained, he succeeds in holding listeners captive with a single note. In his younger days, Nuwamba took note of his parents’ love for music. At home, music had always been a major part of life, but it wasn’t until he decided to join the chorus at school, when he saw and felt a true personal connection to it. It was his participation in glee clubs and church choirs where Nuwamba gained the confidence to claim singing as his destiny. By his senior year of high school, he was writing songs as well, but it wouldn’t be until his meeting with Atlanta-based entrepreneur William Griggs when Nuwamba began realizing the necessary development in becoming the best artist he could be. Nuwamba had begun traveling back and forth between Atlanta, Dallas and abroad, taking his career to the next level. It was at the top of the millennium that he’d started working closely with Griggs, who had been building his own connections within the industry as a special project manager for Warner Brothers Records. Griggs had been promoting an event series called Chocolate Soul that was immediately beloved by the bohemian set in Atlanta. Nuwamba took advantage of the opportunity to perform every chance he could. Once the buzz for Chocolate Soul grew, Griggs started producing compilation albums by the same name, showcasing the artists who were crowd favorites (Raheem Devaghn, Eric Roberson, Cee Lo, Kindred the Family Soul) at the weekly festival. Nuwamba was featured on the Chocolate Soul’s Deluxe CD compilation. His “Take Me Away” is an ethereal ode to taking a moment away from the hustle and bustle of this fast-paced world and finding peace. His song “Forever” was a part of the This Is Soul 2006 compilation released by SoulBrother Records in London. Nuwamba’s music was also on the Soul Lounge compilation released by Lightyear/Warner. His work appeared alongside talented major artists such as Common, Mint Condition, Omar, and Conya Doss on the Luire Presents RELAxY Pocket compilation (Japanese release). By then, Nuwamba had become Griggs’ primary artist on his fledging Chocolate Soul imprint, and while he worked on the label compilations, he was constructing his own debut album Above the Water (2006). Above the Water was a joint venture release between Griggs’ Chocolate Soul as well as Nuwamba’s imprint, BornSoulful Entertainment. Nuwamba’s talents were well-received by the public after the album’s official release. He’s been onstage in LA and New York. He’s blessed the microphone from Baltimore and D.C. to Atlanta and has even gone overseas with his talents to Kaiserslautern, Germany.

When you're first introduced to the soulful and artistic sound of B~Free, it is but a mere taste of all that this young lady is capable of. From the pureness of her voice to the depth of her lyrics, there is no doubt that the 24 year old singer, songwriter, producer and musician is sure to leave her mark on music scenes throughout the Midwest and beyond. Born in Chicago and raised in Milwaukee the inheritance of a musical family lead her to discover her love for the art form by the age of 2. She began singing and playing piano in her early years and has been writing and composing music since the age of 13. She majored in music throughout high school and college and has been thoroughly trained in a multitude of genres including jazz and classical flute, voice and piano. Since then, she has been able to hone her craft and develop a multifaceted sound. Now armed with a B.A. in Music Performance and working towards a Masters in Music Education, her main purpose is to share her gift with the world. She's performed in a number of venues throughout the East Coast and Midwest, including the Kennedy Center, Pabst and Riverside Theaters, The Metro, etc. She recently opened at the Double Door in Chicago for Slum Village and Dwele alongside Lili K. and The Secret Garden (which she is a notable member of.) March 1st 2012 marks the release her first independent project "Open Mic, Open Heart." It is a seven track studio album compiled of all original material composed, produced and performed by B~Free herself (along with a bonus track featuring production by Peter Cottontale.) Infused with traces of past and present generations of Soul, Hip Hop and R&B, It is an honest and passionate representation of all that is soon to come from the up and coming songstress.

Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Colette Williams (affectionately known to her friends as Colie) took the stage after her junior high school teacher recognized her vocal talent. After graduation, Colie continued her studies at Syracuse University where she participated in their musical theatre program. She developed a relationship with Foxx/King and went on to produce Jamie Foxx Live Concert DVD for his 2009 “Blame It” tour. Washington has not only produced through out the U.S but has worked around the world, such places as Jamaica, Ireland, South Africa, Puerto Rico and Brazil. Currently, Washington continues making magic working in all forms of media. Starting her own Production Company, Eleven Seven Productions, Washington is developing TV Shows and reviewing feature length scripts. Joyce just recently wrapped the T-Boz reality series for the TLC network. Lili K. (@LiliKjazz) is the charismatic 20 year old songstress whose name is quickly popping up in different circles around the Midwest. Her infectious smile is nothing compared to the reaction that people have upon hearing her sing. Her smooth and sultry sound is countered well by her quirky and energetic live performances with her band, The Secret Garden. She began performing in her early years through church and elementary school choirs and started writing original music at the age of ten. Since then, she has built quite a repertoire of an original jazz/ neo-soul/ electronic-hip hop sound. Growing up in an artistic household in the inner city of Milwaukee, Lili learned to channel her emotions and combine her influences to create her individual sound. She graduated from Milwaukee High School of the Arts where she was trained in classical, opera, and jazz voice, as well as music theory, and is currently a Junior at Columbia College Chicago, majoring in music business. Miss K. has performed at numerous events, including Summerfest and CMJ, and has performed alongside acts like Dwele, The Cool Kids, and Peter Hadar, etc. at reputable venues in the Midwest including The Metro and The Double Door. On July 1st, 2011, Lili released her first project, a four song EP entitled 'A Prelude To Hello,' with composer Peter Cottontale. The EP has gotten outstanding reviews from prominent online media outlets such as Ruby Hornet, Art Nouveau Mag, Soul Bounce, etc. She's a fresh face to the game with a modernly vintage sound; there is much more to come from this young soul singer.

Candice likens her musical existence to feeling like a stranger on earth. “Humans like for you to say what your identifying labels are,” she points out. “Once you do that, you have to stay in that category. If you do anything else, it confuses them.” Embodying the subtle rapture of Joan Armatrading, the robust confidence of Meshell Ndegeocello, and the thespian gender inquisition of Cheryl Dunye, the left-of-soul singer-songwriter has learned that it’s much easier to buck convention than to live a futile existence of the square peg in a round hole. “The thing I’m embracing and having the most fun with is that it’s ok to be the me that I’ve always been all along.” Hailing from a planet called Philadelphia, the Brooklyn-based songstress was reared in a musical family rooted in the glorious sounds of the local church choir. “Music was a big part of our household,” she says. “My father’s love of music and his writing music was something that was very special and important early on.” However, many years passed before the impetus to find her voice struck. “I always considered myself as an artist. By the time I was interested in singing, I asked my father to teach me. And he told me I wasn’t ready yet. For many years, I battled that comment.” Featuring live actors backed by illustrated technicolor settings, Candice faces derogatory and inhibiting comments, to which she responds by drawing boxes around the perpetrators, effectively caging them in, as she chastises their disrespect. The surreal illustrated backgrounds contrast with the serious subject matter and position Candice as a confident woman who will not let others confine nor define her, true to her vision as a person and artist. Candice is currently working on her Big Treee album. Soon after the earthquake that shook Haiti on January 12, 2010, a photograph of a mountain of dead bodies gripped Candice Anitra. The shared humanity screamed out, and raw emotion compelled Anitra to compose a song as a reminder that we are all connected and vulnerable, living on one shared earth, and responsible for supporting one another.

Malachi was born in Prince George's County, Maryland, a suburb of Washington D.C., Malachi started from humble beginnings with a young mother and step-father who raised him to be a very spiritually aware, confident, and disciplined individual. "Growing up I saw it all drugs, abuse, you name it! However, when I heard music, it was my escape. I started to feel like there was more to life than some of the things I saw. That's why I took on the name Malachi which means "my messenger" because I wanted to use music as away to get a message across. The last name Rivers came about because I wanted the message to flow like a river." Malachi, began to take his love for music seriously auditioning and being accepted into a prestigious performing arts school in Maryland. Honing his craft vocally, Malachi studied Classical voice. After graduating Malachi, attended the University of Maryland where he developed an interest in spoken word poetry. Malachi, studied the craft, started a group with a female singer/poet and became one of the DMV's most dominant spoken word performers. Winning Slams, and performing alongside or for many outstanding performers including Saul Williams, Sonia Sanchez, Dick Gregory, and performing at the same spot on a weekly basis as R&B singer Raheem Devaughn. After the group broke up, Malachi began to do some soul searching. Taking time away from the craft, Malachi enrolled in Broadcasting school, graduated, worked hard as an intern at Radio One and within a few months became the co-host of a talk show on a very new at the time XM Satellite Radio - "The Power". In less than a year Malachi was given his own show on XM Satellite Radio - "The Flow" called The "Nu Soul Lounge." This got him back to music and he soon left it all and moved to NYC to pursue dreams as a emcee/poet" Malachi delved right into the New York scene, with only $103 dollars in his pocket and a dream.

Born in The Island of Dominica (British West Indies), singer-songwriter, Heston grew up with music all around him. Philadelphia has always been known for its raw, authentic talent. Artists that come from this entertainment jewel are adorned by greatness and a stellar work ethic. Such is the case with Philly’s latest and greatest Hip Hop artist, Boone. Marquis Boone was born and raised in South Philadelphia, PA. After playing college ball at Steven’s Technical College in Lancaster, PA, one would assume that Boone was a sure win for a career as a pro baller. Turns out that they were right, just not on the basketball court. Falling in love with music while in college led Boone to form the hip hop group Fly 4 Life. Although short lived, the experience catapulted the young artist into the next phase of his life as a solo artist. It all started at a talent show in front of a small crowd at an event sponsored by Sneaker Villa in Philly. He won the opportunity to perform at Unity Day in front of a crowd of 50,000. Here he caught the ear of Wayne “Big Wayne” Montgomery, a bodyguard for Kidd Rock, Black Street and Teddy Riley. This relationship permitted Boone to experience a national tour with Black Street and to work in the studio with Eric Williams of the group. Being inspired by his contemporaries such as Jay-Z and Philly’s own Beanie Siegal, Boone continues to align himself with people that see his greatness. Palmieri Jeans, a Philadelphia based clothing company, met the rising star and he can now be seen in some of their branding and promotional campaigns. They in turn support his shows and other musical efforts. Last summer Boone’s club banger “Club Like” featured hip-hop super star Wacka Flacka and had a big impact on dance floors and radios across the globe. He has followed suit with his latest single “Nanas” ft Gillie Da Kid, another base filled, catchy head knocker that is currently climbing the charts as well as taking the clubs by storm. As Boone’s music and likeness continues to expand beyond his hometown his golden personality and relentless talent continue to lead the way. With an extensive background in grass roots marketing, and youth development Aarian (formally Pope) Punter couples all her talents as a professional spoken word and motivational speaker with her current role as Program Manager for the Amachi New York Mentoring Program through the New York City Mission Society; a community based on-to-one mentoring agency that provides volunteer opportunities for caring adults looking to mentor young people who have at least one parent currently incarcerated. For several years prior to her work with New York City Mission Society, Aarian worked in the entertainment industry as both an executive and artist. Aarian landed national voice over roles, worked as an actor in a comedy sketch team with Comedian Mike Epps and Donnell Rawlings and wrote and performed original ground breaking spoken word interludes on major recordings working with such artists as Anthony Hamilton; Hip Hop group the Lost Boys and R&B recording duo Koffee Brown. While performing she also worked at various after school community programs throughout New York City including Minisink Townhouse, Uth Turn, Educational Alliance, and Urban Assembly in the Bronx, New York. Through NACA (National Association of College Activities) from 1997 to 2003 Aarian performed at over 50 Colleges and Universities throughout the United States as far as the University of Alaska at Anchorage. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, New York Alumne Chapter and continues to serve on the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy for young girls ages 10 to 13. A native of Essex County, New Jersey, Rosalind realized her talents when she wrote her first song at just 9-years-old. Her father was a club promoter who also sold and used drugs, and her mother was a Ford model-turned-mom who raised her children with as much structure and faith as she could. Throughout her childhood, Rosalind honed her vocals in church, recorded and performed at various venues in the Northeast region. At 16, Rosalind performed at the famed Apollo Theater in Harlem, and went on to get a full scholarship at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Rosalind acquired a great amount of knowledge from Berklee, and later moved back to New Jersey to begin creating her own musical empire. In 2008, she worked with director and graphics specialist Roc Davis on her first music videos “Myspace” and “Rydah,” which were featured on Rosalind’s first digital album Ready. In 2010, Rosalind teamed with Design Digital Films for her “Hustler” video, which featured rapper French Montana. She feels confident that her passion to create has grown immensely in the past three years, and draws from a variety of influences in her songwriting, including Mariah Carey, Erykah Badu, Death Cab For Cutie, Ne-Yo, Frank Ocean, Alanis Morissette, Missy Elliot, Drake and Kendrick Lamar. “My music brings vulnerability to music lovers,” explains Rosalind. “I feel that a lot of artists are extremely scared to be vulnerable, like they are unbreakable. I try to give the listener a cinematic experience through my writing. As she moves forward in her career, Rosalind knows there is potential for growth in everything she does. Despite a tough upbringing, she’s managed to maintain a positive outlook on life and music. Her once drug-addicted father is now a minister, inspiring others to get their lives together. Now Rosalind hopes that others will draw inspiration from her movement in music.

Darryl Gregory is a true multi-instrumentalist who honed his skills as a rocker and singer-songwriter in the dirty dives of NYC in the late 1990’s and early part of the new century. He produces other songwriters in his studio (Blue Cave Studios) now located in Sandy Hook, CT, specializing in finding a “personalized sound” for each of his clients. Darryl has composed music for many different types of ensembles including orchestra, band, brass quintet, string quartet and Javanese Gamelan. Candice Anitra hates boxes. Not in a weird, pygmachophobia way. It’s the rigidly corrugated musical categories that both perplex and perturb her. So much so that at times, Candice likens her musical existence to feeling like a stranger on earth. Embodying the subtle rapture of Joan Armatrading, the robust confidence of Meshell Ndegeocello, and the thespian gender inquisition of Cheryl Dunye, the left-of-soul singer-songwriter has learned that it’s much easier to buck convention than to live a futile existence of the square peg in a round hole. Hailing from a planet called Philadelphia, the Brooklyn-based songstress was reared in a musical family rooted in the glorious sounds of the local church choir. However, many years passed before the impetus to find her voice struck. Candice set sail for New York University’s heralded Tisch School of the Arts after graduation and immersed herself in the fertile artistic environs of New York City. Enrolled in a self-scripting curriculum, Candice was molded into the image of a triple threat. Relishing the liberating new experience, Candice expanded her horizons and sharpened her talent as a writer with aplomb. In 2002, a post-collegiate Candice stumbled upon a musical outlet by assuming lead vocal duties for a local NYC band called True Story. By 2006, Candice had written a Dali-esque stage play centered on black women entitled The Ripple Effect. Candice’s most recent video, for the female powered anthem “Too Much Woman,” makes its own statement and has quickly reached thousands of views. Candice is currently working on her Big Tree album. Soon after the earthquake that shook Haiti on January 12, 2010, a photograph of a mountain of dead bodies gripped Candice Anitra to compose a song. On the second anniversary of the devastation, Candice released the track, "Today," with a video for the song, in order to raise still-much-needed funds to improve lives in Haiti.

For her upcoming album, several songs are inspired by the groovy soul and funk era of the 1970's. However Azania's compositions evolve from diverse musical influences. Reflecting her warm personality, Azania's lyrics are often enriched with uplifting and positive messages, and her highly-anticipated debut album will be released in 2011.

Maimouna “Mumu Fresh” Youssef is a Grammy nominated seasoned singer, emcee, songwriter and poet. She received a Grammy nomination for her contribution on the Roots hit “Don’t Feel Right” in 2007 for best rap song. She has swapped musical licks with Angelique Kidjo, Brian Wilson’s band, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Dead Prez, Wilco, Zap Mama, Cody Chestnut, Martin Luther, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli. Maimouna has also rocked the stages of venues such as Denver Colorado ‘s Red Rocks Amphitheater, Radio City Music Hall, Switzerland’s Moniteau Jazz Festival, and The Carter Baron Amphitheater in Washington, DC. Her musical endeavors were a springboard to make her big screen debut in Dave Chapelle’s “Block Party.” Mumu released her first Solo EP entitled Black Magic Woman March 2011. A Baltimore native born into a family of exceptional artists, Mumu began performing traditional African and Native American songs on stage with her family at the age of 5. As a youth she joined the Baltimore/Washington based musical theater group called Uprising and toured with them as a lead vocalist. In addition, she played a leading role in the Bway musical “Once on this Island”. Some of her other theatrical experiences include the original trio showcase “Three Generationz” that consisted of Maimouna Youssef, her mother, Nataska Hummingbird, and her grandmother, Mountain Eagle Woman (now deceased). At 16 Mumu formed a jazz/hip-hop/funk/ band with her cousin Omari “AzIz” Forman-Bey known as Cirius B. Maimouna Youssef won the title of “Baltimore’s Idol.” Cirius B’s unique sound found it’s way to producer James Poyser. The Roots recognized Maimouna’s raw talent and asked her to sing lead vocals. Shortly thereafter, Maimouna was packing her bags to join the Roots world tour.

Abby's sound is the alchemy of soul, folk, jazz, gospel, R&B, country, rock and pop, forging a gem that erases musical boundaries. Abby has performed throughout New York City to rave reviews at S.O.B’s, Joe's Pub, Bitter End, Village Underground and Blue Note. Abby and her Band have opened for Kindred, Leela James, Ledisi, Dwele, Rahsaan Patterson, Chrisette Michele and Robin Thicke. Recently, Abby won BlackPlanet's Soul Beach Music Festival's First Annual Competition in 2009 and was featured in GIANT Magazine's September 2009 issue as an artist to watch. Abby Dobson has also sung backgrounds for several recording artists, including Talib Kweli and John Legend. Abby was born in Kingston, Jamaica and moved to Brooklyn, NY at 7 yrs old. Her early recollections of music are of country and reggae songs she sang from the radio as a child, and her aunt shushing the family at the dinner table to listen. Though no one in her family was a professional musician, she learned later that her father courted her mother crooning Nat “King” Cole tunes. She sang leads in church choir with her cousins by her side as young as 9, studied classical voice and (briefly) piano in junior high, found herself giving recitals of arias and Great American Songbook Standards as the only child among adults at her high school music teacher’s private gatherings, and continued her singing studies through college and beyond. Abby was drawn like a magnet to the powerful vocal persuasions of Sarah Vaughan, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker and Donny Hathaway while inspired by the introspective acoustic leaning writings of Tracy Chapman, Dolly Parton, and Bob Marley. Abby attended Williams College in Massachusetts majoring in History/Political Science. Abby dipped hit he underground circuit singing cover songs at open mic nights. She began writing her own songs as a better way to get a record deal.

It was at the tender age of 11 that In Bern, Switzerland Paola sings in her school choir and discovers her desire for the stage. Choir practice led to competitions and winning led to the conviction that music is her message. Vocally trained at the Swiss Jazz School, her singing/songwriting career was kicked off by recording her first demo with producer Ben Thaler. The two became known as pioneers of soul music in Switzerland, Paola's song "You gotta know what you want" was aired in Montreal, Canada. Using this momentum her singing ability was noticed by national and international artist's R&B singer Emel, and rapper Kamel of the famous French group Alliance Ethnic with whom she co-wrote several songs. She recorded her first single "Strong" with Session All-stars Compilation released on Universal Records as well as re-writing and performing the anthem of her hometown in Switzerland. While working as a registered nurse Paola won a spot on Pop Stars (Switzerland's equivalent to American Idol) which was key exposure and a catalyst for a number of performances; attracting audiences with a 10-piece band in Russia, Germany and the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, where she performed alongside The Roots' Rahzel. In December 2006 she recorded a song with Black Thought. Paola resides in Los Angeles mostly and speaks many different languages (German, French, English, Spanish, Haitian Creole). Paola first lived in Brooklyn when she arrived in the states working with well versed producer Selan Lerner (Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, Masters At Work, DJ Spinna). Being of a Swiss father, and a Haitian mother, growing up in Switzerland and having international friends gave her a diversity of sound. Paola inspires her audience with songs about life, society, nature and everything that surrounds people. On stage she is a breath of fresh air, touching the audience with her positive energy.

The first 3 shows to launch are TAWTK-The Audience Wants to Know, WTF? and The Girl’s Bathroom. Chapter 3 TV plans to secure 24/7 mobile programming. The Branded Entertainment concept sprung out of an immediate need to engage their corporate relationships with their wealth of experiences developing audiences for film, TV, events and publishing. The first set of brand partners to be integrated in the first 3 programs include Bronner Brothers, Upscale Magazine, Heys Luggage, Radio One, and Faygo soda. She worked as a production coordinator, manager and writer for networks MTV, VH1 and BET. She also held the title of Production MGR and Producer on three TV One shows including “25 yrs: The Color of Success on the Color Purple’s 25th Anniversary”, “Get the Hook Up” and “Renovate My Home”. Darralynn’s most proud of her TV production credits that include BET’s “The Musicmakes”, “BET News”, and her work as a Red Carpet producer for the “BET Awards” and “BET Hip Hop Awards”. Atlanta born and truly Southern raised, Winston Warrior painfully lost his virginity to the music industry in the ‘90s. As an original member of the break-out R&B group, Lo’ Profile, they already had two hit singles, “Missing You” and “Play Melody” on radio rotation and garnered much local industry acclaim. Winston, along with his group-mates, were frequently booked as opening acts for major artists such as Mary J. Blige, Queen Latifah, Dru Hill, Soul 4 Real, and Bone Thugs N Harmony. With packed venues, a growing fanbase, and a successful audition with an influential player in the game, all of the group’s hurdles had been cleared with grace. Success, however, never comes easily and it soon became apparent how crucial a role ulterior motives had played and the group split up. While the collaborative dream did not make it to fruition, the ever present longing for Winston to create and fulfill his artistic goals never dissipated. He was now armed with a business degree from the University of Miami and had plenty of production and performance experience under his belt to pursue a path in marketing. Although not in the spotlight as before, success in Winston’s corporate endeavors soon followed and he was able to make new as well as retain strong industry connections. Hesitant to reemerge as a musician because he had been away for so long, Winston’s insecurities overshadowed his desire to sing. Winston’s support system was instrumental in encouraging him to reconnect with his music. The sound of his music harkens back to the sounds of one-name legends like Luther, Freddie, Teddy, Barry, and Donny. Winston’s music is a fusion of smooth hip hop beats and harmonic R&B themes. His music pays tribute to the feel-good R&B and soul music of the late 80’s and 90’s, but with the edginess of today’s production. He calls it "Vintage R&B."

Walt is the son of a preacher who spent Sundays watching his father play the church Keyboard. He soon tried to emulate his father. Walt picked up the drums by studying the moves of church drummers soon after joining his mom and dad in the church band. Walt used the same techniques to teach himself the keyboard, which he mastered by 16, and lead him to playing regularly at 3 different churches. He teamed up with his brother shortly thereafter to focus on their hip hop group, Brinks. They distributed and produced their own CD, serviced it to local record stores and received good responses from neighborhood kids. Around the same time Walt started playing for a band named the Ville. He was asked to work with Tyra Kirkland who was in need of a band. Walt became her musical director. They opened up for artists like Musiq Soulchild and City High while he was finishing the 12th grade. In his second semester of college, he got the opportunity to be on MTV’s Making the Band II where he finished in the top 10. Walt has since launched his solo career releasing an EP, “The Compilation.” He writes, produces and arranges all of his tracks. Walt has shared the stages with Alicia keys, Justin Timberlake, Ashanti, Wyclef Jean, Freddie Jackson, Jessica Simpson, John legend and many other big name artists. He has done events such as club shows, radio, high schools, and major event performances in, Boston, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Washington, Texas, Canada, and Germany. Sonnyboy is a musician, singer, composer, producer, and band leader with 5 independently produced albums to his name. Early on, it was Sonnyboy’s well known Blues musician uncle, Sonny Green, who inspired him to explore the genre. Born in Monroe, Louisiana and raised in the Baptist churches of Milwaukee, Sonnyboy learned to play multiple instruments at an early age, and did so with a traditional gospel/R&B slant. From Milwaukee, Sonnyboy moved to Minneapolis. With only his guitar and the clothes on his back, Sonnyboy journeyed into what he had been told was forbidden devil music: funk, reggae, rock, and hip hop. And he did so in the middle of the Prince- led Paisley Park music scene. He quickly became accepted into the Minneapolis music community and began working with artists on the Paisley Park label, Parliament Funkadelic family, Mary Harris of Spearhead, and countless other artists. He has come to share the stage with Prince, The Black Crows, The Skatalights, and has performed at venues as prestigious as the world famous Paisley Park Studios. Also known as a hip hop hippie and an urban poet, he cheated death in a near fatal car crash and found himself back on the streets where he started. His rededication to music, his renewed energy, and his creative explosion resulted in him writing songs, composing, producing music, and even co-producing his music videos. Sonnyboy established his own record label, ArtSoul Entertainment. He got grounded, developed a unique sound, and formed the 4 member band, Sonnyboy. Rolling Stone Magazine acclaimed the group as "one of the best unsigned bands to come out of Minneapolis since Prince and The Time." Sonnyboy moved the band to New York and the band has toured across the country and throughout Europe. Jamal Batiste is one of many musical seeds of New Orleans’s own Batiste Family. He is a producer and an exceptionally talented drummer, who has been playing drums since the age of three. Jamal earned his specialized degree in Jazz Studies from the University of New Orleans. Jamal has performed in the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival since the age of five. He performed with the Batiste Brothers Band and had his own show in the Kid’s tent, Congo Square stage, Fox 8 stage, and the Acura Stage. He’s toured in Africa, Japan, Canada, Europe, and USA with international bands such as Los Hombres Calientes, Jon Cleary and AMG, The Wild Magnolias, and a host of others. Jamal’s rhythmical tone is a Gumbo of funk, rhythm and blues, Latin, gospel, second Line, rock, soul, classical, and jazz that has inspired and mesmerized his fans and supporters of all ages. For his first project, Jamal recorded and executive produced his father’s first solo album, “New Orleans Is Coming Back” by David Batiste & the Gladiators. For his second project he produced a compilation album called “The Unorthodox Drummer: The First Assemblage,” that’s in stores and online (iTunes!). Born in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn Lyonel “Kay-Kay” Rosemond fondly remembers being enamored with the soul singers of the 70’s, which included Marvin Gaye, Al Green and Otis Redding. However, he would soon become entrenched in the hip-hop scene that was beginning to take over during his adolescence. At the time, little did he know that these musical influences would have a great deal to do with the career he ultimately chose as an A&R with Motown/Universal Music Group. At an early age he decided that he would pursue a career as an artist for his favorite comic book company, Marvel Comics. Lyonel soon enrolled in a school for cartoon illustration and shortly after began receiving requests from friends who needed logos for the companies many of them hoped to form. In 1994, however Lyonel began to see his career path change course after his Uncle Jimmy Henchman Rosemond, who was about to start his own management company, called him. Once entering the music industry Lyonel realized that art was not his only talent, as he quickly adapted to the scene and learned what something he feels very few comprehend – artists don’t live what they portray. It was at this time that Lyonel realized that the music business was in fact business first, and he began to actively increase his contacts. He was offered a job to work in the A&R department at the historic record label Motown while he was at Kedar Entertainment. Since joining the Motown family Lyonel has worked with a bevy of artists including Erykah Badu, Chico DeBarge, Lil’ Wayne, The Temptations and R&B crooner Joe. He feels that his work with Badu was the most special because of the authentic approach she took to developing her music. Kay-Kay is currently the A&R at E1/Koch Records.

Shae Fiol grew up in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by family members who were classically trained musicians such as her mother, father, both grandmothers. She is a true performer, the complete musical package -arranger, guitarist, lyricist, songwriter and vocalist. Her path to music began in her sophomore year at New Mexico University when her father came up with a great way for Shae to earn tuition - by writing songs. After purchasing his daughter a digital tape four track, he agreed to pay her $250 for every song she wrote. The result was a nine-song demo, which not only earned her enough cash to live off but also became the catalyst to build her indomitable song writing skills. After college, Shae's musical ambitions helped to land her in L.A. where she worked with Tha Liks, especially J-ro on a track "Run Wild" Just a year later, Shae was invited to New York City by Rockwilder to work with him on her album. Shae now calls Brooklyn home. She is a well-rounded performer who has showcased her talents at well-known NYC venues ranging from Joe's Pub, BAM and SOB's. She describes her music as creating the type of vibe, which allows one to travel inside their mind and daydream while still appreciating the eclectic mix of classical, folk, rhythm and blues, hip-hop, jazz and Latin playing in the background. Her music is personal, searching, and adventurous. Shae's first full-length album, Catch a Ride, was produced mostly by her collaborations featuring Grammy Award winners Stuart Matthewman of Sade, Me'shell Ndegeocello, and producer Rockwilder.

The daughter of strict Baptist ministers in Dallas, Texas – only two kinds of music were allowed in N’dambi’s house, gospel and country. Church was the center of the family’s life in every way and there was no middle ground. Secular music was forbidden, but its irresistible allure eventually trickled into her life and began impacting the maturing young singer. Blessed with a deep contralto, N’dambi became especially enamored with the male singers from the ‘70s and ‘80s she’d heard and identified with while hanging out with cousins and friends. The funky soul of Bar-Kays’ Larry Dodson, the sophisticated syncopation of Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White and the notorious abandon of the Ohio Players’ Sugafoot influenced her heavily. Later, the mysterious, uninhibited imagination of Nina Simone and Mahalia Jackson also became musical and cultural touchstones. Chip-Fu is no stranger to the realm of hip hop music. As a radical member of a platinum-selling hip hop group the Fu Schnickens, his intricately interwoven flow left us all light headed, exhausted and wheezing for more. The trials and tribulations of life, love and music helped Chip conceive his latest project titled M.A.T.H (Music, Appreciation, Art, Time and Healing), The New Curriculum.
