Recorded Sunday August 17th 2 Hours Self-preoccupation veils the natural sense of unity and belonging. This is why, traditionally in India, the Bhakti path of selfless service, Seva, has been so deeply valued. When we make a habit of prioritizing our own needs above all else, it reinforces the illusion of a separate self. The spiritual journey is, in essence, a process of self lessening so that the Divine may grow within us. Deep down, …

Resting with ‘what is’, is a powerful teaching and helps one live this life with more presence and less resistance. As a practice: First one notices what is taking place inside, then one opens to it the best one can. What is allowing something to be is spaciousness itself, which is already open and free. This practice helps one learn how to be present and available to the moment.

Over time one can realize that the separate self sense is not needed in order to make your life work. Relaxing (surrendering) into your Being, and learning how to function from an unbounded place, supports the letting go of the belief that you need to exert a doer (which is imagined). Awakening is making awareness conscious throughout your whole being (as a felt sense), and increasingly in your life.

Where are you at on your own spiritual map? The more you give yourself to what it is you are wanting spiritually, the more support you receive from the divine. What makes one unaware of Being, is the sense that it is covered over by content. Awakening is your spirit essence becoming conscious of itself, and then having that awareness liberate all the forgotten lost parts, inside. In this video, Susanne speaks to the spiritual map that we hold in common evolutionarily.

In this Open Circle Center Hosted Online Meeting, Susanne walks one through landing in the here in now firstly in the body, then placing attention on the power of noticing, leading to awareness being aware of itself.
Whether you are an advanced practitioner, or newly entering the spiritual stream, one can always use the simple (yet profound), essential practice of resting one’s attention on presence. As you may know, what we sincerely give our attention to, grows, and this is also true in regard to realizing our true nature.
It is easy to get caught up with flowery or complicated pointers, falsely believing that realization is difficult to attain and meant for the few. But it does take a certain type of dedication and willingness to unstrip oneself of imagination and avoid the tendency to complicate things, which puts awakening into time.

There is a very simple method to realizing your true nature, and that is in order to wake up and have truth stabilize within, you have to not only desire it with your whole heart, you also have to one pointedly work towards it.
There is a saying in Zen that the Buddha lies at the base of the hedgegrow. What this is pointing to is that truth is locatable, bit in order to find it, you are required to sincereley look. Realizing truth is not held outside of you, found within teachings on YouTune, or dispensed solely by grace. Truth is locatable and resides in a grounded way, within you.
The Indian spiritual teacher Nisargadatta said that sincerity is key, which couldn’t be more true. It is vital to look for yourself to see whether you contain the sincerity needed to be unwaveringly devoted. When such devotion is cultivated, the goal is a forgone conclusion as our focused attention is the power that is required.
In this meeting Susanne will speak honestly about what is required to realize truth, including guidance as to where to place your attention. If you are already clear on your personal inner guidance, this meeting will support you in further deepening into the unfoldment of Truth.

In order to advance spiritually, we do need to open in trust to the inner guidance that is intent on bringing you back home to your undivided true nature. In this meeting, you are invited more fully into letting go of control, so that divine intelligence can support your inner unfoldment.
A poem from Shar which emerged following the online meeting:
One day walking life, next moment walking life. One day loving life, next moment loving life.
Breathe, fill the lungs & release. Same day every day, yet, each day blossoms so differently.
As rhythm of moment blossoms so differently.
Once you walk through the door. Life is life, yet life not life.
The one that angered, now let go of. The one that irritated, now let go of.
Mind now a moment passing away.
Mind another day lived, another day loved, another day being home as is,
no holding, just living wildly.

Susanne and friends exploring the topic of how the impact of crisis can be met within the realm of awakening. Living our daily lives under ordinary conditions, when the unexpected never materializes and is very far from our active mind, often doesn’t reveal undiscovered territory within one’s conditioning.
This reveals itself in its full, if often unwanted, glory when a major incident takes place. The opportunity held within such times of one’s life unearths hidden patterns leading to reactions and behaviors that jump at the opportunity to come to the light and be transformed. Perhaps the first blessing of a major life altering event is being stopped so fully that there is no option other than being fully present to the moment. Another is encountering the beautiful human spirit of generosity and kindness that can help redeem one and in turn open one’s heart.
Similarly, pain and crisis can invite vast reservoirs of capacity to open in surrender to the moment, helping us to see how much we have benefited from realizations and personal work. It is a blessing to be benefited by the grace arising out of deep spiritual work. It is like having a spiritual piggy bank that comes in handy when faced with challenging times.

Our desire to remember the truth of our being and the fact that we are one with life, is the spiritual seekers journey. In honor of Earth Day, we will take the opportunity to remember together our interconnection. Coming back to our true nature is for the most part an individual journey, and yet there are times when community (Sangha), is highly supportive.
There is real connective power contained in group energy, and when the intention is in alignment with opening to Truth, the vibration creates a field in assisting awakening. This is why the Buddha said that it takes: Buddha, Sangha, and Dharma (truth), to wake up to our being.
On this day we will share in a group meditation, talk, and dialogue, inviting Mother Earth to reveal to us her open mystery, reminding us of our universal Oneness. Coming back home to our intrinsic wholeness is our birthright, and one that is vital for our collective well-being.

Divinity dwells within everything in existence. Every rock, tree, creature, and human being is an expression of divine intelligence, incarnate. Earth is birthed out of That and is on her own evolutionary journey, as is the Sun, and each unique soul.
Everything in creation is life in evolution, growing in awareness of what is possible. God is composed of both its transcendent eternal nature, as well as imminent within manifestation. Without form, spirit does not know itself, and has no capacity to expand, deepen, and grow.
Remembering for ourselves the sacredness and value of being here, supports our own incarnation as unique souls, as we are divine sparks emerging out of the cauldron of spirit.

Using Bernadette Roberts’ map as a way to understand the spiritual journey, Susanne Marie describes the evolution from self-centered consciousness to No-self.
Realization has many stages. With the awakening of mind, the Self is clearly cognized as separate from relative experience. This brings the ability for the mind to rest in and as awareness. As the heart awakens, it sees the world and itself as united and undivided, birthing compassion for all of life. With the awakening of the body, form knows itself to be God, and that “all this is That.” Recorded with Awakening Together in …

A guided meditation with techniques on how to live a balanced life. By opening to the emptiness contained within all experience, as well as learning how to feel into form, we are able to learn how to live in harmony within ourselves and with life.
Sometimes the only way to be free of something is to allow yourself to be fully trapped. Our desire to escape suffering creates it’s own bondage. Most of us are intially drawn to spirituality with the understandable desire to feel better and in general to be released from suffering. But this desire in itself playes into the belief that something needs to be done about how we are feeling. that we need to somehow disappear …
The journey of opening to the suffering of others begins with ourselves. Compassion blossoms with the realization that we are the one responsible for allowing our own hearts to open, and that turning towards our pain rather than away is the key. Once we have the strength to embrace ourselves as we are, then this ability naturally turns outwards to include the pain of others in our world.
Without the engagement of our hearts our spiritual and life journey is dry and barren. Devotion is the ability to reach outside of ourselves with trust that something greater exists than what we ourselves know or understand. This something is the mystery of existence itself. It is divinty inherent within all things. When we lean into trust that there is a greater intelligence guiding our lives, we are able to let go of our limited …

Nurit speaks with Spiritual Mentor Susanne Marie about the impact of lineage and what to watch out for in the spiritual arena. The two shed light from their own experiences and encourage “Being” as opposed to following blindly a mind-based teaching. For information about Nurit, please visit treeofsilence.com.
A deep and enjoyable meeting touching on a range of topics such as the nature of seeking, engaging the heart, awareness practice and more, with a mature non-dual group which meets regularly with therapist and teacher Michael Hall in Binghamton, N.Y.
When we live directly without an interpretive filter, we live the ‘now’ in each moment, naturally. Recording is from the August 2017 online meeting.
Through the vehicle of our senses we can naturally learn how to open to a vaster intelligence – one that is undefinable and unlimited. Taken from Susanne’s latest online meeting.
We discuss the non-localized self. When we expand beyond the boundaries of the personal self we naturally experience our inter-connectedness with one another and with all of life.
In this Easter Sunday talk, I begin with the theme of the Kingdom of Heaven within. We discuss having the attention take a 180 degree turn, and the value of living outer life on the foundation of inner realization.
Life is continuously offering us an invitation to embrace this moment and ourselves just as we are. Our messy human lives are an expression of divinity undergoing continuous evolution.
Moving beyond the myth that awakening frees us of difficult feelings and our shadow. What in fact occurs is that we learn to open to and embrace our shadow and unconscious as they are.
This type of question often arises out of a confusion of where to place our attention. The secret is: Not to place attention so much on oneself! We complicate our lives with overthinking and analyzing, rather than learning how to tap into spontaneity and the aliveness of what is needed in any given moment.
When we move beyond our own individual concerns and learn to embrace the concerns of others and of the world as our own, the self center that causes so much individual suffering is eased. What becomes revealed is that we are in fact all of life. A deep caring for the whole emerges the more that we realize that we are all interconnected.
Deeper than our surface preferences, concerns and fears, lies a vast reservoir of allowance. We can learn how to access it by tuning into the heart, whose nature is unconditional acceptance and which holds all polarities comfortably within itself.
Our essential nature, which rests prior to all concepts, is unconditioned Being. When our essential nature is known and felt through the heart, life is viewed through the lens of unity. We feel a deep intimacy with everything. In fact, we appreciate that our “own” essential nature and that of everything are one and the same. This manifests in our behavior and experience as allowance, acceptance, welcoming, and a deeply felt intimacy with what is.
Learning how to increasingly tell (relative) truth both to ourselves and to others and as a result, living more authentically, is a doorway to absolute Truth.
An evening meeting with a Seattle non-dual group which was a prequel to a powerful weekend intensive. It takes maturity and a courageous willingness to come to stop looking outside of ourselves for ourselves. Are you ready to stand on your own two feet, stop wavering and go one pointedly towards what you want?
Join Susanne Marie and Adyashanti in an exploration about an often misunderstood subject. Beyond the traditional landing places that mind creates (commonly discussed in non-dual circles), lies an indescribable landscape of living as pure, direct experiencing. Prior to this opening, the habitual subjective filter creates a veil of separation of which one is not even aware. This is true even within expanded, unified states of consciousness. Once this filter falls away, life is experienced directly, …
As we practice resting in that which is prior to content, we strengthen our capacity to know ourselves as all of creation. But first a solid base needs to be established on which consciousness is no longer glued in identification with what it is focusing on. This broadens one’s capacity to sense into oneself as the whole, no longer solely a personal identity, but knowing oneself as everyone and everything.
Life is evolving, asking us to rise up to embrace our inner autonomy and to meet as equals in service to the whole. The old paradigm of a few teachers serving as ‘wisdom holders’ is ebbing. We are transitioning from a hierarchical way of meeting others in Truth with the teacher on top, to an egalitarian one in which we meet in a circle, inviting each another to express our own knowing, gifts, and strengths. …
Topics: Learning to develop a sense of what is true, a place inside that is already free of pain and already at peace. Consciousness is indiscriminate. It isn’t driven by will force, so it goes wherever attention is placed. When it is placed on awareness itself, it learns to rest as That. There is an evolution to consciousness that is occurring, we are deepening. The embodiment of spirit into matter is a deepening that consciousness is opening up to. …
Dropping pretense with one another and learning how to communicate authentically serves in supporting an enlivened connection with others. Tuning into ourselves as Natural Beings, as being aspects of nature, serves in helping us remember ourselves and helps bring more joy and aliveness to our lives. The separate self has a feeling tone to it. Learning how to tune into this felt sense helps us thin the veils that creates the felt sense of separation.
A video clip taken from a recent online meeting. Meeting one another from a place of undefended naturalness allows for true communication to occur. The way we listen to one another helps bring what is undivided to the foreground. In this way both our speaking and our listening become one movement creatively sharing communication. The full length audio of the meeting (longer than the video, with questions), is available beneath the video.
The more we deepen in realization, the more that we see that there is no difference between ourselves and Nature. We are One Being with the Earth, with all creatures large and small. We are One great indivisible whole seeing and meeting each other in Sacred Mutuality. Evolution is at work as each one of us realizes our intrinsic unity with all of Life.
Putting one’s attention on what lies prior to manifestation helps bring pure awareness, which is ordinarily in the background, to the foreground. Then, instead of being addicted and glued to content and as a result, forgetting the Self, the mind can more easily be at peace and in natural harmony with itself and with the rest of the ever-shifting appearance of life.

Life is a gracious teacher whereby we learn over time how, in truth, giving and receiving are aspects of one integrated whole which supports the balanced functioning of life. In this video I share an experience I recently had when I went to see Amma, where I received a wonderful direct teaching of how giving and receiving works.
Have you noticed that when you really let yourself feel something completely that this one thing fully embraced leads to the totality of existence? The vastness of what we are lies within the minutia. Enter fully into experience and know yourself as That.
When we give ourselves the permission to let go into not knowing, relaxing the boundaries of what we take ourselves to be, something magical opens up, and that is our own knowing. In this meeting I invite that knowing to emerge and speak within the group.

Each one of us is the Holy and each one of us has access to the wellspring of innate wisdom. We share the same light and ground of being as did the Buddha, Christ, and all the saints. In essence, no one is more Holy than another.
Relaxing into our natural selves softens our edges, softens the one who is in defense to life. We can move through the world in a relaxed and undefended way. This allows for the natural state to move in, as, and through us. Just like the wind, we are a thing of nature.
All manifested form is empty at its center. This includes what you take yourself to be, a person. Even though it seems like you are the one feeling, thinking, and have a body, in truth this is not so. The power of inquiry and resting in our true nature helps to break the sticky trance that consciousness has regarding its manifested aspect.
Many of us run from that we most want, which is ourselves stripped bare of defense. This moment, raw in its own power, offering no promises of delivery. Here, in this place of simplicity, we find ourselves left without imagination clouding the view.
A Mothers Day Open Circle Meeting in Berkeley (in 3 parts). Pure experiencing is a way of living that brings the sense of intimacy and the impact of immediacy to every moment.
Consciousness seems to be evolving in its capacity to deepen through us – it’s medium. A shortened version of a longer piece (Bringing Spirit Down Consciously Into Form).
The body is an access point for consciousness to sense into what is going on both within ourselves and without. Over time our capacity grows in learning how to occupy ourselves in our inner being, our senses, and in regards to our feeling selves.
Susanne Marie and Will Pye discuss the role and nature of ‘Surrender’ in awakening. Video here
Rick Archer interviews Susanne Marie on Buddha at the Gas Pump. In Susanne Marie’s first interview, she describes how oneness was already known as a child, and how this awareness slowly and painfully ebbed away resulting in a seeker being born and the story of how this was eventually seen through. Video here.
This session is part of the online retreat on ‘Living from Love’. For more information go to: www.living-from-love.com. Video here.
Vulnerability is an entry point into the heart of being. As consciousness evolves, we are given ever greater opportunities to turn towards meeting ourselves more fully. The invitation to meet oneself with love eases the transition as we make a shift from operating out of fear into one of moving from love. Video here.
From Friends in Presence: “A postcard conversation from two friends in presence, Susanne Marie & Jen Peer Rich talk about recognizing presence in others as actually recognizing the one we all are, and we get down and dirty into the nitty-gritty of presence. We also explore qualities of consciousness coming together in a unique symbiotic intermingling as one love.” Video here.
God is found not only in the absolute nature of reality but also within experience and form. Freedom lies in the loosening of the grip of identification with form. Once freed, then consciousness can enter back down into form without losing itself, allowing life to freely dance in and out of form.
What is truly living this life? Who and what are we? These are the questions that arise when we truly wish to inquire into what is true. The goal of the spiritual life is to have the personal sense of ‘me’ thin out over time. How to know ourselves as all of creation, and still operate and function as a personal self?
Sharing with you all a recent online Valentine’s Day Open Circle meeting on the topic of the Unconditional Nature of Love. All of life is in love with itself. Unconditional love has the power to transform our relationships with both ourselves and with the world. It is a pre-existing love, it has always been here and always will be.
Relax into Being as the undivided self that you naturally are. A meditative session that invites open hearted allowance, relaxation, and deep rest into your Being.
The theme of this piece is accessing the intelligence that resides in the Now. The most magical way to live one’s life is to let go of ideas of how things should go. The more that we let go of mind to navigate our day, the more that true intelligence can step in.
Through what lens do we see life? We each have to find out for ourselves whether this is a friendly universe or not. What makes it friendly versus not? Through deeply inquiring into what is true in any given moment, one’s own perspective changes revealing a deeper way of seeing life that is transformative.
The sense of ‘me’ thins out over time revealing our totality with all existence. The experience of being a divided separate self collapses as inner division falls away. This organic process is a natural maturation for each one of us and for humanity itself. As the separate sense of self falls away a unified sense of ourselves as being one with life becomes known which later opens up to simply being life itself.
Learning how to listen and follow one’s truth leads to the sense of being in inner alignment with all that is. Our capacity to be able to listen to where universal truth is leading us grows over time. We gain both confidence and trust as the gap closes between what we consider to be our separate small selves and what we are in truth: the whole of creation. The ramifications of following truth are not …
What is awakening? Awakening is the dissolution of what we believe to be a center to consciousness (ourselves), where the veil of separation that seemingly lies between oneself and others falls away. As more and more people have either glimpses of their true nature, or whether it is an abiding awakening, both individually and collectively we are growing up out of believing we have a self center. Remembering our true nature, we come to the …
There is an organic evolutionary journey that Consciousness takes as it moves from being primarily identified as a thought based being to one emerging over time into becoming a sensing based being. This video outlines this natural human development. The self reflective mechanism of mind helps create the sense of being a center of consciousness. This mechanism eases over time as we gain trust and understanding that there is no need to locate ourselves as …
A premonition vision foretold another awakening, this time of the body, letting go of the instinctual survival drive of the body. Due to a variety of difficult life events, an unresolvable dilemma spontaneously opened a deep letting go of control radically changing my life. The only thing that my mind could come up with was that a death was coming, perhaps of the body, as it was such a different way of operating. Pure seamless …
Within spirituality almost every area is open to be questioned and looked at publicly, but the topic of money and resources is still very much something that people avoid. There is a combination of shame and also fear for those who either have more than enough and for those who don’t. The deeper that freedom penetrates ones consciousness, the more that every topic is open to be investigated. Unity consciousness levels out the hierarchical field …
Last fall I had a deep and spontaneous vision that lasted for over one hour. The details were amazingly visual and the impact was very experiential. I was shown the spiritual evolution of humanity and the incredible intelligence that is guiding the whole journey as we all make our way to Buddhahood or enlightened consciousness. In the end no one is left behind, and this is something we can trust. I was not sure that …
Love is an emanation from our own Being-ness. Because we have bodies, there is a felt sense of what love is. Conditional love is born in time and ends in time, but there is something deeper, a substratum, within which all that arises and falls is held. Unconditional love is allowing by its nature.
The human being has the capacity to reflect on its own nature which means that we have the capacity to see what we are in truth. What we call the ego is just a mechanisms of the self reflective quality that the mind has when it gets lost in believing in being a separate something. Awakening is seeing through this mechanism and using it in order to see what is actually doing the looking.
Consciousness delights in its very own Being. We have the capacity to feel into this delight and to feel how life itself dances within form. When we tune into what is always here noticing and allowing everything to be, we come in contact with what is naturally already free and in love with itself just as it is.
How does one learn how to trust in life? What is one trusting in? Ultimately trust is being lived when the gap closes between what we believe we want and what is actually happening. Realizing that we are life as it is presenting itself in every moment is liberating.
When attention is put on Beingness itself the felt sensation that arises and which permeates our being is joy. Self delights in itself. The joy of Being has nothing to do with believing yourself to be worthy or unworthy, it just is. There is no need to hold back being in love with your Self.
Crisis and hardship are potential doorways to enter into the mystery of the unknown nature of reality. Crisis helps us to grow into being fully human and helps connect us to humanity via our hearts. The best use of crisis is to allow it to strip you clean, and to lay bare what is essential.
Something is always noticing what is awake and aware right now. Becoming curious about what is paying attention helps reveal what is lying in the background silently witnessing everything. As soon as we become quiet inside, natural beingness is invited forward.
What lies deeper than the outward momentum of wanting things to be different? There is nothing that will save you in the end. A dying to looking outside of oneself for satisfaction is the key to real happiness.
We all long for the naturalness of being authentically real. Are you allowing yourself to come out of hiding? There is no need to to have defense in place in order to protect yourself from life. You are beautiful just as you are.
Every moment is another opportunity to surrender to its totality, to what it is holding. There is something that is still and unchanging no matter what we are doing or what is arising. When you discover that unmoving center then there is an awareness to presence that is present to itself in any given moment.
Life is intelligently moving in and through us, as us. When we learn to look inside rather than outside of ourselves, we give ourselves a great gift. We have the capacity to allow life to lead, as that is what we are in truth.
Tuning into your own internal guidance system, helps one to better navigate life. Learning how to listen to one’s inner knowing, to the wisdom of the heart is the key.
There is a tendency in humanity to focus on the negative. Why is this? In truth, in between thoughts there are gaps that we don’t pay attention to. There is space between every single thought. When the space becomes aware of itself, it is called awakening. Consciousness wakes up to itself and as a result, is less glued (stuck) to thoughts. It is liberating and freeing, to know yourself as the backdrop, the space in …
Spiritual seeking is a dance that we do because we are not quite ready to tell the truth. It is a distraction to feeling what it is that you are really wanting. It is so important to tell the truth of what you are longing for. When we tell the truth, we bridge the gap back to our true nature. Before you became anything, you were the unknown. Let yourself be swallowed up by what …
Suffering is a clue, your own personal koan, that something has been placed outside of yourself. Suffering arises when we imagine that having things outside of ourselves is going to alleviate our longing for wholeness. This becomes a habit of mind. Trace all projections back to the place where imagination was birthed, back to the emptiness that you really are.
Seeking begins as soon as we feel that we have lost something, and the root of it begins in childhood. Beginning first with the birth of the sense of “I” when we are very young, and then later over the course of one’s childhood, we lose the felt sense of connection to source. Naturally, we long for what we feel we have lost, and we innocently and mistakenly run after things imagining that what we …
Why do we so often end up not doing what it is that we think we should be doing? This is because we are always doing what we want to do, regardless of how it seems. How do you know this? Because it is what is actually happening. The conflict lies in believing that we should be doing something different, not in actually what we are doing. Being true to ourselves in the moment, is …
Even though relationship seems to be happening outside of ourselves, it really is happening within. All relationship is with the self, it just seems to be with others. How we treat ourselves, how kind we are to our own thoughts, and feelings, is how we will be treating others. It is a natural extension from the inner to the outer, which in the end, is one thing.
