I am Temitope, welcome to BecomingHer, the podcast. I believe one of the best things that can happen to anyone is becoming all that God intends for them to be in the roles that they fill and in the space that they find themselves in the world. When I was praying for a name for this podcast and BecomingHer dropped in my thoughts, I knew it was the name to use because it deeply resonated with me, it represents where I am on my journey, BECOMING.         We all have have jagged edges, things that could stand between us and who we are becoming, for some, its that we are hurt, broken, depressed, have been abused, could be that we looking for love and validation in all of the wrong places, could be abandonment issues, could be low self esteem and about anything else that threatens who God intends for us to be.  So this podcast is where we do all the hard stuff, its where we take a long hard look at ourselves in truth and in love and say, "you know what, I don’t have it together like I thought i did", I think that’s the bravest thing anyone could ever do in a world where its easy to numb our pain with activities, smile to the world while we are hurting inside, in a word where the pharse, "I will be fine" is the easiest way to deal with the root of our issues.  I want to ask you to join me on a journey, join me as we break patterns, speak the truth in love, heal and enter into all that God has for us. Join me as I walk the path to becoming the Daughter, Sister, Friend, Wife, Mother, Leader and the Pharmacist God intends for me to be. Perhaps the stories, insigths that I will be sharing in the next couple of weeks, months, years will inspire you or challenge you to break out of everything that threatens who you  have the potential to become. I don’t know, but it’s my hope that it does.

The effect of the absence of a father in a child’s life whether due to divorce, death, work or even emotional unavailability , if unaddressed can affect other relationships, relationship with God and with others. When we do not receive adequate fathering in form of approval, acceptance and support, it can have devastating effects on our self-esteem and over all quality of life. Are we forever doomed as a result of what we could have had but didn’t get? NO. We have a father who sees us and knows us through and through, who is able to fill in the gaps and give us what we need despite what we had. We can’t continue to blame our parents while we stay locked in this cycle of defeat. Join me as we call on God to help us heal, as we take baby steps into becoming who God has called us to be and as we prepare ourselves for all that our Heavenly Father has for us.

This Podcast is for all of us who have been Mrs Balogun, Mrs Ojo, Mrs Williams(Hypothetical names) a couple of times. You know how you meet a guy you think is just right for you and you are already matching their surname to yours to see if it fits. Uhmm uhmm. Yes! Well, most of them, if not all have ended in tears😂😂🥺🥺🥺. And so I found a better way to go about it. This way may be hard but it’s the best. It’s trusting God with your emotions, desires, cultivating the right heart and of course working towards becoming who God has ordained you to be. So in the podcast, I talked about allowing God take the lead and also how it is that we learned love and relationships from our parents or from home and if that it’s not that solid. It’s something we need to also bring to God in prayer. Just so we are not just surrendering our emotions and desires, but we are also, actively working with God to become whole. A wise woman, Bethany Baird once said, “Seek God first, Stop chasing. Stop forcing. Stop manipulating.” I totally agree. May God help us, we are on this table together and I believe we shall overcome.
