"I am a failure" "I am not blank enough" "It is all my fault" Above are just a few examples of the kind of negative thoughts and perspectives that we may believe as the truth. However, through scripture, we know that these types of thoughts are not from God or our own. In today's episode, I cover the ways that the enemy likes to sneak in and send spiritual attacks through our thoughts and minds. I also cover a few ways that we can begin to guard our minds. To create a type of filtration system in order to not accept every thought as the truth. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joyfullheartt/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/crysstalc21/
On June 24th, the Supreme Court of the United States overturned the ruling on Roe v. Wade. Meaning that abortions are no longer a federal constitutional right, leaving the terms of legality up to each state. Statistics show that 26 of the 50th states are expected to make abortions illegal within the next thirty days. So with this in mind, should Christians respond to this situation and get involved? In today's episode, I cover and answer this question. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joyfullheartt/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/crysstalc21/
A popular phrase within the church is to "surrender to God." But, have you ever wondered, what does it actually mean to surrender or submit to the will of God. Outside sources may make it seem as if this is an oppressive idea or process. This is why I feel it is necessary for us to seek the word of God to find out what it actually means. Our world is constantly changing in all aspects. Which can lead to a lot of confusion when we desperately try to keep up with it. Thankfully, the word of God is active and consistent. So in times like these, we can use it to truly understand what it means to surrender to God. A popular parable in the Bible is the lesson of a mustard seed. In this parable, we see that faith the size of a mustard seed could command a mountain to move or a tree to uproot. Essentially, the smallest amount of faith in the Lord can do the most extraordinary things. But, the question is, how do we hold onto these seeds of faith? During the troublesome or distant seasons, we often struggle to have faith in the Lord. In today's episode, I cover ways that we can hold onto seeds of faith in our lives.

What is the Bible and why do we read it? Countless times this question has been asked by many people. Regardless of if they believe it or not, many try to understand the importance of the Bible and why Christians read it. The Bible is not like any book you may read once and then let collect dust. Is there such a thing as a coincidence for a Christian? Does everything occur by chance or good luck? People think that most occurrences are just a coincidence. Nothing more than something that just happened by chance. But, scriptures states that life is far more complicated than that. You don't have to be an expert to enjoy your hobbies and skills. We often put so much pressure on ourselves to reach perfection. Many of us believe that we have to be good at a hobby, interest, or activity to truly enjoy it. What if we chose to focus on enjoying the process rather than having great constant results. One of my favorite shows on Netflix is about beginner bakers who attempt to make professional-level treats and cakes. Yes, they are bound to fail, but they still have fun and can win prizes. Although most of us are not competing for a prize, we can still just enjoy our hobbies as we are. It is an important reminder for Christians to fully trust God and where He leads us in life. Spiritual warfare is described as a battle between Christians and evil forces. These are typically the battle against enemies that we can not see. Many Christians deal with spiritual warfare more than they often realize. Yet, we often do not talk about it enough. In this episode we go over what spiritual warfare is and what the bible says about it. As well as the various symptoms of spiritual warfare that we may deal with. God is gracious enough to not only be by our side during spiritual battles but supply us with the key to getting through them. Does the bible tell us to judge others? This is a question, that many Christians and non-christians have debated for many years. This is also something that many nonreligious people often call out Christians for. They often believe that Christians get up on a high horse and judge others as un-pure sinners. Unfortunately, there are too many instances where Christians judge others in a humiliating way with the wrong intentions. We often get overfilled with pride in thinking we are better because we are saved. We are not called to be above others, we were called to humbly serve the Lord and others. Are you in a season of waiting for the Lord? Are you stuck in a situation that you can not get out of on your own? When Christians fall in situations like this, they may write out a prayer petition. Prayer petitions or supplications of prayer are written or said in times of need. Typically, when one is humbly begging the Lord to fulfill needs or come through in some type of way. This was something I was not as familiar with beforehand. After doing some research I realized this was something I wanted to try. In this episode, I cover my own experience with writing a prayer petition and the importance I found in it! This episode is a part two and follow up to the previous episode What is your motivation? To further expand on the topic. Once we realize our motivation is not right, we should then move forward to correct it. But how do you correct your motivation?
Do you know the significance of obeying God? What motivates you to follow God? Our motivation in life often impacts us much more than we could ever understand. Motivation can be either positive, neutral, or negative. You can be doing the right things for the wrong reasons. At the end of the day God is more than aware of your true reasons behind your actions.
If a person identifies with an ethnicity society has this weird expectations that this person must act like their ethnicity. If they do not they are labeled as not enough. For people who attend or grow up in predominantly white areas, this is a common frustration. In societies terms speaking "proper" means you sound white. Society continues to put black people in boxes and not wanting them to express themselves in individualistic ways. If you act "too Black" then you are deemed ghetto and ethnic. If you act "too white" you are not black. This topic could be written into a whole book series. It is a very frustrating situation to deal with. "Compliments" such as "you speak well" or "you are pretty for a black girl" are not compliments and they are rooted in racism. This is just my experience but I know its something many can relate to. I am under qualified I am not special It is impossible These are just a handful of the everyday lies that we believe and often tell ourselves. The enemy is sitting on your shoulder and spewing these lies. To the point where it begins to sound like your own voice and thoughts. When our pride is too high we begin to lack faith. If the faith of a mustard seed can move a mountain then why believe these lies. There is no limit to the capacity of God. Therefore if we focus our eyes on the possibilities of the Lord we can overcome even the highest of hurdles!
We know God is trustworthy. We know God has everything in control. But, why does there seem to be this lingering sense of doubt? Why is it so hard to fully trust what we know and read in scripture? Am I just a bad christian? Do I really know Jesus? In this episode three common barriers that keep us from believing God are covered. The best way to overcome these barriers is to be aware of the roots of your doubt. As always scriptures are included that can help us to debunk any lies that keep us from the Lord. A monologue is one tedious speech by one person. A dialogue is a conversation between two or more people. Which of these seems to reflect your prayer life? Are you dominating the conversation without any breaks? Or are you speaking while also giving God the opportunity to respond? Often we get stuck in this cycle of talking 100% of the time, then getting frustrated when we don't hear the Lord. We need to make sure that we give God the time and the space to respond to us. Everything happens for a reason. This is something many of us have been told when going through a tough time or season. But what is that reason? Although we may never know 100% why things happen, we can begin to understand once we reflect on the past. By connecting the dots we can look back on painful or difficult moments we can see how they lead us to the present. God can use our pain for our purpose. Often the most moving parts of our testimony are the most difficult and tough times in our lives. Our life is not meaningless, Jesus gives us a purpose while on this earth. When we reflect in life we can often see how God closed certain doors for a reason and redirected us. Joyfullheartt the podcast reached its one year anniversary yesterday June 22nd!! I am still in disbelief that it has already been a year! God's timing and planning should always be trusted. I had no idea where He would take the podcast. Or where how He would use the podcast to share His word and bring glory. I am so grateful for this opportunity and platform that God has given me. It is wild to see how God can use scary and uncertain situations for good. Thank you for listening and supporting this podcast!
We are constantly told to be patient and to wait our turn in line. Whether it may be in school, work, or stuck in traffic our patience is constantly being tested. In a world of instant gratification and results having to wait and be patient seems so backwards. Why should we wait? Is there anything wrong with getting what we want immediately? To answer those questions, yes. There are many dangers and consequences of being impatient and rushing into things. The Bible sheds light on the unseen and unknown consequences that may be waiting us. When we rush into situations, relationships, etc we quickly realize how things do not always work out as we anticipated.
Religion and politics are two topics that most people agree you should never bring up in conversations at social settings. Many Christians wonder if they should speak up and get involved in activism. Or how should they address political issues. In this episode I cover the connections between religion, activism, and politics. As well as what scripture says, most importantly!
“Jesus is coming soon! Get rapture ready! We are in the last days!” These are a few common phrases that many Christians will share to warn others. This is a good thing as evil will finally be defeated and all things will be right again. Upon hearing this many Christians grow motivated and happy. But what happens if this makes you feel nervous or anxious. What is end time anxiety? And why do I feel this way? In this episode I talk about my experiences with end time anxiety and how God is helping me to over come it.
Scripture tell us that in order for Christ to increase we must decrease. But what exactly does that look like? Often this can be linked to our trust and faith in God. We as believers have to be willing to give up our desires and hopes to allow God's to become our main focus. In this episode I cover the idea of decreasing one's control and power. As well as scriptures that can comfort us in the moments of uncertainty in life.

If you are graduating, regardless of your education level, there is a question you are bound to be asked. What are you going to do next? This question can cause you to feel stressed and overwhelmed. The reality is that most of us have no idea. Even if we plan out every single detail there is no guarantee that it will work out the way we intended. We can’t avoid stress but we can learn how to work around and through it. So that no matter what comes up we can rest knowing God has everything planned out.
Finals week is typically one of the most stressful and overwhelming times in a students life. In a society that pushes the idea that our grades are a reflection of ourselves and our intelligence. This couldn’t be further from the truth. However, we still have to get through finals week. In this episode I offer advice and tips that have worked for me. If you are a student not studying for anything I am wishing you the best of luck!! Have you ever stopped and wondered “Can I pray for that?”. We know the big things to pray for. What about the smaller things? The everyday “little” stressors. Do we have to deal with it on our own. In this episode I cover my own experience with this question. As well as through some passages of scripture!
If you create content of any kind you may have experienced creators block. In which for a period of time you experience difficultly creating or coming up with new content. Especially with the ever changing algorithm it can be difficult and challenging to create content that will engage your audience. In this episode I speak on my own experiences with creators block. As well as how it connects with my spiritual health! Link to the latest blog post: https://joyfullheartt.com/?p=403
This episode is more of a rant but I discuss burnout, early twenties and a bit on pre graduation anxiety. These are some things that have been on my mind. My hope is to normalize these feelings to show that we aren’t alone in feeling this way. I definitely could do a whole episode on pre graduation anxiety and anxiety about transition phases in life!
In the future there is no doubt in my mind that 2020 will be labeled as pure chaos in history books. It seemed like every single month the chaos seemed to be expanding. In this episode I cover how to handle chaos. As well as point out some of the parallels that I noticed from our chaos and the chaos that followed the Good Friday. A lot of us are in a season post chaos and before an approaching revival. Even when it seems like all hope is lost and the future seems scary. Remember God can turn any situation around! Hope and light can never be defeated! New blog post https://joyfullheartt.com/?p=388
One of the biggest critiques of the church is the hypocrisy and double standards in relation to sin. It is something that people both outside and inside the church constantly bring up. It is something that I as Christian have seen far too often. We as the church need to step up and do better. This representation is not an accurate portrayal of Jesus, at all. In this episode I cover some of the double standards. As well as scripture that relates to the topic of hypocrisy. Sin is still sin. It does the damage of pushing us away from God. We as the church are called to be imitators and representatives of Jesus. Including imitating His love, mercy, selflessness, and kindness. Our world needs more love and light! In light of the recent events I wanted to take the time to discuss and bring light to the ongoing hate of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In this episode I touch on recent events, racial hate crimes, and racism overall. I believe that it is important to keep having these conversations about racism in our homes, with friends, and in the church. Despite how uncomfortable it may make us or others feel we cannot continue to allow racism to be the elephant in the church or society. My prayers are with all impacted by these horrific attacks. I will be attaching several links and resources below. I recommend you all read for yourself rather than solely relaying on what I say. Praying for better days. If we have learned anything in the last year, it is that there are so many setbacks in life. Not matter how much you plan, there will always be something that acts as a barrier between us and our goals in life. But what if we didn't view every setback as a negative or bad thing in life. What if God is using this setback to prepare us for something better or greater. Often times our greatest disappointments may make way for our greatest blessings. In this episodes we talk about setbacks and what God could be showing us as He redirects our life! Do you find yourself constantly thinking “ I wish it was Friday” or “I wish it was summer time”. We often find ourselves wishing for the future during stressful or uneventful seasons in our lives. However, this may be harmful to our walk with the Lord. We talk about the harms of devaluing the season because they don’t match our expectations. How we can learn to slow down and be more present in life

Our brains are very complex in their design yet at the same time can be very simple and straightforward. Our brains often need motivation in order to work towards rewards. But what happens when we have to work without rewards? How do we find the motivation to keep going when we don't know the outcome? The answer is through God. Through God we can find an eternal source of motivation and willpower to keep pushing. In this episode I cover why we should expect to work without rewards. People in the bible who had to work and live without instant rewards. I also share and discuss scripture that relates to the topic of working without rewards. Sometimes we can become so overwhelmed by making a decision that we just freeze. Now it is important to rest but we can't sit around forever. In this episode I cover some reasons that you may be feeling stuck in your walk with the Lord and in your life. I talk about a recent time in my life that I got stuck and was waiting on God for a decision. Sometimes we just gotta step out in faith (even if it is just baby steps) and trust fully in the Lord. I hope that this episode motivates you to place more faith in the Lord and trust God to direct or redirect you in life! This is the youtube video that I mentioned! https://youtu.be/XJPhZAt6Ljo
If we are told to be constantly working, how much time is left to rest? The answer is different for everyone, but it can be assumed that it isn’t enough. This episode covers the importance of rest and why we should take time to rest. More specifically take time to rest and be still in the presence of God!
I think most of us can agree that we spend a lot of time on our phones. But, when was the last time you checked just how long you were on your phone in a 24 hour period? It might shock and surprise you just how much time we spend scrolling on our phones. In this episode we get real about phone usage and over usage. I also share some ways we can use the screen time feature to our advantage. And ways we can cut down on our screen time!
Overthinking is one of the most common behaviors that we take part in, especially with new opportunities, experiences, and people. It’s so easy to think of all the things that can go wrong, all of the possible effects, and reading deeper into something than we should. However, overthinking is one of the most harmful things we can do in our walk with the Lord. In this episode we discuss why overthinking can potentially be harmful and why we should try to break that habit and behavior. We also discuss ways that we can fight the urge to overthink a situation, idea, or opportunity.
This is the first episode of 2021! Happy New Year! In this episode as we have welcomed the New Year, I wanted to share and talk about some general goals and hopes I have for this year! I feel it is really important to be more intentional with our time, words, actions, and behaviors. I feel that making goals and trying to stick to them can provide some sense of motivation for this new year. I really encourage you all to write down some goals and hopes for this new year. To give yourself a sense of direction you want to take or things you want to try.

We know that God wants to give us the desires of our hearts. However, our expectations of how these will play out in our life may be different than God. In this episode I cover four people in the Bible who were given their desires but not in the way they expected. Part of our faith is putting full trust in the Lord. God knows what is best for us.
Condescending comments are becoming a new trend to leave on social media sites. These may seem funny but when used by believers it’s can do much more harm than intended. Jesus views and loves us as equal. We need to be careful of adapting and using attitudes that patronize or belittle others. In this episode we talk about condescending phrases and attitudes. As well as how to work past these attitudes to be better representatives of Christ.
Procrastination is one of the most hardest habits to break. We grow comfortable with purposeful delaying things until we are ready. This can be damaging in our walk with God. Doubt is often a very natural reaction to things we don’t fully understand. Many feel that doubt means you don’t fully believe. However I feel that doubt can be used for good and to strengthen our faith in God. In this episode I share verses that are helpful when we are facing and rejecting doubt.

I didn’t prepare for this episode in the way that I usually do. I wanted to try out just letting the Holy Spirit place things on my heart. I won’t lie I was pretty nervous but I wanted to challenge my faith and allow my trust in God to grow. And He did not let me down!
Due to recent events this year the topic of racism has been addressed more than ever. Yet, many feel that it is only just starting to be addressed in the church. In this episode I discuss why it’s important to discuss racism and why the church should be involved in social justice conversations. I also go over scripture that explains how we as believers are to treat others. We as a church need to start discussing these real and complex issues. Conflict seems inevitable in life, especially in this year. Sense we can’t necessarily avoid all conflict, it’s important to handle conflict as scripture advises us to. In this podcast scriptures concerning handling scripture, holding grudges, and forgiveness in covered.
We are aware and familiar of the big ways that we can glorify God. But what about the “smaller” ways that we can glorify God. Our world pays close attention to how believers act and speak. It’s important to imitate Christ always!
There is a lot of deception, false teaching, and false teachers in our world. Not everything that seems harmless and innocent is as it seems. It’s important to test and compare these things against scripture. God is very clear in His trusts, yet many of us will cherry pick to fit our mindsets. In this episode I cover things believed need to stay far from and research before taking part in!
Contrary to what the enemy says, sin doesn’t have to control your life. Jesus offers sanctification, in other words freedoms from our most difficult or stubborn sins. Fasting is an important and necessary part of our walk with Christ. In this episode I cover why we should fast, what fasting is, and the different things that we can fast from. Fasting it’s something I never fully understood so I want to take this time to share with you guys my thoughts on it. And if you choose to fast from food always seek medical advice prior to taking part in it and never for more than three days. Ask God to reveal to you what you can fast from in your life.

I also explore a popular verse that tends to be associated with only one context when the other situations are just as important, in our walk with God
Remaining fully obedient to God can be difficult. It goes against the core of what the world tells us we “should be doing”. Being obedient to the Lord is one of the greatest things we can do and it brings us closer to Him. Disobedience will always lead to consequences, while obedience leads to blessings from the Lord. In this episode I cover the examples of obedience and disobedience from the Bible.
