Greta Gerwig was just discussed on this podcast for her latest film (Barbie. Have you heard of it?), so now we get a chance to talk more about her and her career beginnings. One of our hosts uses the word “perfect” to describe this movie, and the other one isn’t very far behind. Fair warning: It’s going to be a love fest this week.

The second feature from Shiva Baby director Emma Seligman, Bottoms follows Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edibiri as two unpopular high school students who start a fight club to meet girls and get laid. It’s a classic setup with a 2023 twist.

There comes a time at the end of the year that many refer to as Oscar season. It's when you get all of the movies that vie for the coveted gold statue. Before we enter that period, our hosts are gonna run through the year so far - a weird year, one that brought us Tenet and showed us just how much power Netflix has - and pick their top 5.

In 1997, Spike Lee decided to cover this event. In 2020, our cohosts revisit the documentary, 60 years removed from the time the incident occurred, and yet somehow as timely as ever.
Our co-hosts decide to abandon the based on a play marathon in favor of a marathon celebrating the works of Spike Lee. Lee, a celebrated filmmaker known for his timeless classics is widely considered ahead of his time in presenting race relations on screen. In light of the events occurring in the country, our co-hosts decide to visit his landmark movie, Do The Right Thing, to see how the movie holds up and why it holds up.
