Did you ever get to go camping as a child? One of my favorite parts of camping was the camp fire. Something so amazing about its glow, warmth, and the way it made marshmallows taste so much better! I also remember throwing anything and everything into the fire to watch it burn until one time my dad put a cup with some water into the fire and we watched to see what was going to happened. I expected the cup to burn but it didn’t. The cups without the water burned up immediately but the cups with the water didn’t burn. We are all going to sadly get burned in life. However the people that make it through the fire is because of what is on the inside. Join us this Sunday to learn how faith helps you make it through the fire.

Whenever I get the chance to officiate someones wedding I always ask about the funniest moment, happiest moment, the saddest moments, or they will share with me the highs and the lows. The reason I ask about a couples highs and lows is because people can’t relate to each others success but we can relate to each others pain.
No one is buying the line, And they lived happily ever after. This is only true in films and fairy tales. Love is not linear. Momentum. One thing you and I need in this new year is spiritual momentum. A train traveling at 55mph can break through a five foot steel re-inforced brick wall without stopping. However a 1 inch block will keep the train from moving.

Did you know that from google has a graph that charts the number of books that we bought in a certain category? In 1978 books on vision began to dramatically outperform other books. As a matter of fact for over 30 years the sale of books about vision has grown by over 300%!
However in 2018 the graph hit the top of the curve and there is speculation as to whether it has plateaued or is on the decline.
No matter where you look there does seem to be a lack of vision. Join us this Sunday at Southridge Church for our 2023 Vision Sunday. The vision may be plateaued and declining elsewhere but certainly not at Southridge Church! This is a vision that you need to see for yourself!
Each new year comes with the hope that this year will be better than the last. However hope is not a good strategy for a better life. However many people are a bit cynical when it comes to new years resolutions. We make them and then we quickly break them.

The the term is new but the spirit is not. Today there seems to be an endemic of people quietly quitting on their marriages, parents, churches, friends, work, and even on themselves.
Have you ever had a time in your life where you were looking forward to a trip, event, or a meet up with some old friends and then something happens where what you had planned to do gets postponed? How did you feel afterwards? Sad. Discouraged. Bummed.
Its always hard when you had your heart set on something then to have it get postponed can make you feel really down. Now imagine postponing something much more important than a trip, an event, or a meet up. Imagine postponing your purpose for which you were created. Yet today that is exactly what so many people are doing postponing their purpose.
The core of who we are is nestled in our hearts. Our decisions, moral compass and more live within our hearts. If our hearts are out of line, then so is the rest of our lives. Before we fix anything in our lives, we must start with the heart.

As some of you know with older, "well-loved" cars, some things just don't work. In this truck, the gas gauge didn't work. I got stranded on the side of the road several times until I finally learned this lesson - always have the gas tank full so I wouldn't have to worry.
The same lesson applies to our obedience and faith. God will only take us as far as we're obedient. Is your obedience tank full? Our obedience will extract everything God has put into you to take you as far as He intended when He created you.
Have you ever talked yourself out of something because you saw only the problems? Buying a car but its too expensive, taking the job but the commute is too long, dating that girl but she has a past, etc,. Maybe you’ve let others talk you out of something as well because they too saw only the problems. The worst thing is that you can actually talk about something so much that you actually miss the fact that you didn’t do anything. I would love for you and a friend to join us this Sunday as we see Jesus disciples being more interested in discussing a persons issues than making a difference in the lives of individuals.

Friends, how would we get through life without them? Remember that childhood best friend and the two of you were inseparable? There is something so special about a real genuine friend. Think about how special it makes you feel when someone says that you are their friend or better yet their best friend.

February 18th 1952 New England was battered by the most brutal nor’easter in years. Two oil tankers split in half leaving 84 men stranded. Captain Bernie Webber and three other men set out in the storm to rescue as many men as they could in a 36 foot Coast Guard rescue boat. The small crew was able to rescue 32 men.

The most important things are often over neglected the most. Spouses don't communicate because work is a priority. Children don't spend time with their parents because they're too busy. Friends don't hang out because of the demand in their current role. Relationships require communication. The same applies to our relationship with God. The way we communicate with him is through prayer. However, that's the last thing on our list of things to do each day, each week, each month. Attending church Sundays is not enough to have a strong relationship with God. We must position ourselves in prayer. After all, we can't talk about solid ground without a solid foundation.
