The Elder are in flower. The sun casts a golden hue over clusters of white petals. White-gold bouquets dabbed across the green canvas. Nestled between the wall of trees at the back and the gathering of raspberry stems at the front lies the sanctuary of the shed. Inside, Lucy and Arun of 'Girl Like That' perform a collection of stripped back songs from the brilliant new album - Medicine Box. Lucy's voice is superb and rides majestically upon the magical sounds gliding from Arun's guitar (well Lucy's). There's also a sneaky foray into Wheatus' Teenage Dirtbag. The conversation includes sage advice, stories of musical inspiration, album crafting insights, TRUCK festival 2024 news and Taylor Swift.

It's a time of abundance as the raspberry plants reach for the shed doors and the buttercups and dandelions spring forth from the uncut lawn. Momo, Will and Greg guide the joys of the season into the shed and play music from an oasis somewhere deep inside our solar system. Warren is a vessel for this magic and the band gracefully share insight, inspiration, laughter, friendship and exceptional music. The Northern Lights arrived as far south as the River Thames and left me with a sense of awe and mystery. The song birds have laid foundations for their nests in the hedgerows and the suburban garden is alive with the joys of Spring. The beautiful notes of Max Blansjaar's music find every corner of the shed like a mist on the water as it floats gently into the reeds, up and over the banks and onto the footpath. From there the glorious sounds lift high into the still golden syrup skies, kindly calling in the Nightjar. Max Blansjaar performs three songs from his forthcoming masterpiece, False Comforts. In this episode we get the front row on a magical floating rug ride upon which we stretch out to enjoy the music and conversation. False Comforts will be released on 21 June 2024. The setting sun takes with her the warm golden rays from the shed doors like a thousand retreating ornamental metal spears. The cradling crescent moon is later pinned above the semi detached houses half way up the cold hazy ink blue western skies. While nature quietly transforms for her next scene, Izzie’s beautiful songs merge with the changes outside as Nick’s splendid double bass coaxes the night time in. Magical, mystical, beguiling, haunting, brilliant. The conversation leads us on a path via the cuteness of guinea pigs, early music revelations, Bob Dylan, the resonance of bass, lion calls, the west country and making music. Warren welcomes Simon, Tom and Alfie from the incredible Killer Kowalski into the shed to kick off Season 14. Sadly there wasn't enough space for the full band so Howard could't join them this time. The band sounds amazing as they try out the stripped back acoustic arrangements for the very first time. It's an early Spring evening, the blossom petals are drifting about and Warren thinks he's been in the Upside Down! Along with the sublime music, there's cracking conversation about thought provoking lyrics, the performance, All Bar One, Truck Festival, forming a band in what we think is the modern age, Lady Gaga and more. Another great episode and Killer Kowalski are brilliant! Warren is joined in the shed by Aris and Francesco from Mount St. Helen. They are stripped back, leaving Ryan (drums) and Dan (bass) with the sound knowledge that they are carrying the flame proudly over to the shed for this exclusive performance and conversation. The music is otherworldly and the lyrics are lovingly carried by Aris' dreamy voice and the ethereal sounds of the pair's Stratocasters. We are gently guided into the story of a band with a bigger picture as they seamlessly glide above the great expanses of the Pacific Northwest dusting the top of the volcanic Mount St. Helens as we swoop past. There's talk of old heroes, frog faces, second hand guitar treasures, making music videos and the most extraordinary music extending its velvety condor wings wide, gathering us all together. The Deadbeat Apostles grace the floorboards of the shed in a stripped back, acoustic form. Their soulful groove very much in force and ready to be shared with us all. The session is filled with love, sandwiches, crisps, New York, Bowie, Lennon, first plays, Will Young on wash up duties and an excessive music quiz. This is a history of the Deadbeats, where they've been, where they are now and what lies ahead. A beautiful journey to be a friend of the Deadbeats! Warren welcomes James and Tim into the shed for a stripped back KANADIA set. The pair are soaring with the thermals and gazing across the boggy fields and enchanted woodlands, mapping the route as we float along with them. Enveloped in pure bliss. A field mouse peaks out from the leaf litter as the notes are set free into the star spangled night skies over the Oxfordshire countryside. This band is formidable and have chosen their own dreamy path to navigate the spaces with soulful atmospheric alternative rock music. Warren draws us all in with his curiosity and lands our boat on enchanted beaches for an evening full of intrigue, laughter, soul searching and gratitude. KANADIA's performance is phenomenal. They are firmly on my list of favourite bands. You can find out more about the band here: https://www.kanadia.band/Thank you for listening.

Welcome back to the first episode of 2024. For this special occassion we recorded a Shed Session in front of an audience at The Bullingdon Cocktail Bar in Oxford with the incredibly talented Joely June. Warren guided us gently through this magical land of music and conversation. It was love from the very first chord as Joely, Evie and Phil reached out and let us peek into the mysteries of the soul. "Thanks for a lovely evening my man and well done on a great show. It was particularly powerful for me to see how everyone was sitting quietly and attentively listening - like audiences would do in the Greenwich village coffee houses in the 60s. Put everyone in a reflective and receptive mood. Quite a gift to bring stillness and focus to people as well as music so well done you 🙏🏻"

The rain spills from shed the roof directly onto the gravel; it coats the windows with an opaque slick that looks like the glass is melting. The droplets get heavier at intervals and shake the remaining raspberry leaves this way and that, like a dancer under strobe lights. Water streams down the leaf tips and pierce deep holes into the mud below. The sounds from outside beckon to join with the music ERIKA is creating inside. This is a stunning performance and the conversation is filled with honesty, love and curiosity.A wonderful last episode of 2023. Thank you for listening. "Independent artist and music maker ERIKA emerged from a life coloured by the musical corners of UK and Japan. As the air outside begins to turn icy, The Bobo find themselves in the warmth of the shed nearly a year since their last Winter visit. They now have new band mates, a recording session in Maida Vale 4, a captivating TRUCK festival performance; a new knockout EP; a live performance on TV and a new album forming as well as a handful of Oxford shows. There is mystery and beauty in the music this band make. There too is a generous serving of creativity, honesty and love in what they do. Pick up a pair of Snakeskin Cowboy boots from the Trading Post store. Jump into a dusty faded blue 50s Chevy truck and take a long cruise through the California deserts. Drive along the lonely highway and stop in at a motel with a swimming pool, palm trees and scorpions. There's a band playing out back. The hot wind picks up and swirls dirt around Sarah's keyboard as the notes skate along the mirage beyond the palms. Matt's tremolo shifts and bends time as the crows nod casually from their perch on the frayed power lines above. This is the landscape painted by the brilliant Crandle. Sarah's voice is dreamy and Matt's guitar captures a time gone by. Their creative union makes for a beautiful session. Ian has captured the purest of sounds for you to enjoy on your very own magical journey. Ripper circles high above the shed. The tip of her right wing is torn but this doesn't affect the majesty of her high level soaring. She shares the same airspace with another two Red Kites. Beautiful melodies flow out of the open windows and up into the cool evening air. The spellbinding sounds mingle with the birds as they mock the airplanes with their natural mastery of flight above the Thames Valley, Oxford city and the suburbs. Warren is lifted up high with Brian, Jon and Oli as they play three songs from their eagerly anticipated new album as well as two more along with delightful conversation. A joyous gathering somewhere between the earth and the sky. Here we are at home with one of Oxford's finest bands. Their new album Dig The Mountain! is out on 6 October 2023. In this session we hear the the most amazing voice and guitar playing by Jack Cade. The storytelling moves between the songs like a low mist twisting and climbing between Oxford's spires on a late summer morning. The sun burns away the suspended droplets of water and reveals a clear, hot day. Jack is on his way from Brighton and listening to music as he drives. He arrives at the shed and is ready to share a very special evening with Warren and Ian. As the sun sets, the blues and indigoes wash the sky and we can't quite believe this has all happened. The sounds are expertly recorded and mixed by Tiger Mendonza and Warren guides us into unchartered waters with his honest and enthusiastic hosting as well as a truly inexhaustible love for music. Cat, Paddy and George release exquisite notes up into the brooding english Summer skies where they twist and mingle with the birds then elegantly sway and turn, evading the warm heavy raindrops, upon their return to the damp ground below. Warren is joined in the shed by Lee Switzer-Woolf, an alternative artist from Reading. His superb dark indie-folk lifts you up just when you thought sad songs could only drag you down. We're rolling through the precinct, the sun lights up the grey concrete of the building site, the birdsong pierces the crushing tones of the drills. We fall, we get up, a builder says how nice it is to see us skating to school. Warren hosts The Hex Collective. The richness of the music and conversation shine through as Josie and Jim ease into this atmospheric shed session. The pair master their instruments beautifully and fill the room with folk magic. The cello binds the group and Jim's vocals and guitar dance over the glade like an elegant dragonfly. I know you will love them, their stories and their music. The Hex Collective play songs written to words selected from the Alfred Williams archive of songs collected in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and Oxfordshire in the early years of the twentieth century. Warren chats with Jan about her love for Peanuts and her favourite character, Snoopy. It's a lovely learning journey for them both but especially for Warren who knew very little about Peanuts before this episode. Jan shares her discovery of the delightful beagle during the 1980s and graciously reminisces about a very special time, all from the shed at the end of Warren's garden.

Warren and Alex take a journey to the ocean. Warren meets ragged tooth sharks at Aliwal Shoal and Alex amazes us with his underwater photography and ideas for painting a photo with light. The wonderful conversation is inspired by a classic 1980s branded surf sticker. Da Right Style, Island Style. Thank you for listening.

Its amazing how Warren explores the most simple object and is able to elicit stories, memories and places from it. Each item carries with it a tale and significance much greater than the object itself. Enjoy a guided stroll/bounce along with the simplest toy of all. The storytelling is so calm and carefully considered. You'll feel free and ready to explore the things around your dwelling to tap into the magic within. Thank you for listening.

You're in for treat as Warren takes us along with him to Record Store Day 2022 in Oxford. He visits his favourite record store (Truck Store) and reminisces on the Oxford music scene from the late 90s. Thom Yorke and Bjork are in cafe Coco having meal together, and Radiohead play out with Creep in South Park (2001) as the heavens open up. Warren has used this special day for discophiles to share his love for a city that is home to all the best bands.

This is the episode where Warren shares his Breaking Bad and car stories with us. What makes it even better is that he is joined by Jo at the kitchen table in front of the snazzy new recording encoder unit something something. It is here that together they take us on a road trip across the deserts of the American west and into the concrete and steel jungles of New York. The podcast is once again my portal into another realm and brings me out feeling refreshed. Another great episode. Thank you for listening.

Tonight Warren has a very special guest in his shed. It's Scott from the Scott Gordon Band. Yep, he's normally surrounded by his stunningly talented band, but on this occassion he's sharing a solo set including blues and country roots goodness from the 2021 album Ulster Americana.  It's all so lovely and I can see greatness on the horizon like a dapple grey horse rising high up along the ridgeway with the sun setting behind its floaty mane and sweaty muscular stature. Warren raises up the beauty in the music and brings to light fascinating detail about Scott's creative process. I'm thrilled to introduce this bonus episode for you. Warren is in Germany talking about his Smurf toys. As usual, he allows himself to be transported away with the objects he has brought along and he generously takes us with him. There's some crazy coincidences as he discovers that he is standing in the very place where Nirvana played their last ever show! The podcast keeps on growing and Warren stays true to the art of storytelling to deliver the most relaxing and entertaining chat I have heard in ages.

Warren keeps us close as he sets the scene for yet another incredible episode. We learn about how he prepares for a recording with a listen to a favourite album. This time it's Pink Floyd's Ummagumma. He has a wonderful way of sharing a story and by the time he gets to talking about these iconic 80s action figures, we are fully engaged and ready for anything as long as he keeps guiding us along with his clam positivity and enthusiasm. Warren played with MOTU when he was a kid in the 80s and in fact he still takes them out of the display cabinet every so often for a whirl. Right now is your lucky moment as our host is ready for you to play, reminisce, escape and look ahead with him. Thank for listening.

Warren is back for the final season of this podcast and he's off to a fantastic start. He's taken the show back to it's roots with toys and objects from his childhood in the 1980s. We get to hear a wonderful conversation with Warren and his very special guest, Hannah, about Silly Putty. There are are clues as to what the season has in store for us and there is so much to look forward to. I'm gutted he's told us that this is the final season, but have decided to relish each second and enjoy the ride. Thank you for listening.

Warren is back in Oxford and self-isolating. The calming sounds of rain can be heard as he recalls his journey from Heathrow airport to his home in Oxford. The news is that a new COVID variant has come in from South Africa and Warren's flight is the last to be allowed into the UK. Our host is tired but candid as he settles in for a night alone after his family say goodnight through closed windows of the shed. This has been an amazing journey and I'm so pleased I chose to tag along. Warren tells me that he feels honoured to have had the opportunity to share his love for South Africa with you and that he is home in England with his wife and kids. Thank you for listening.

Warren gets a head start on packing his suitcase and then does a quick 15 minute workout. He makes the most of his last day in South Africa by visiting an old school friend at Papuzzi's, then a quick browse in Microgram record shop before he heads home to catch the last rays of summer sun at his mom's place. He takes us along to the petrol station then misses a turn for the airport car rental drop off. The rain pours down and it's a long night on board the Boeing 737. The news upon arrival at Heathrow is that South Africa has let a new covid variant loose and must be red listed again. Warren arrives home and starts self isolating in the shed where he records this extraordinary penultimate episode of what has been the best season yet. Thank you for listening.

Warren enjoys his last evening in South Africa with Ephimia. There's a wood fire, barking dogs, skidding cars and the neighbour's bath water rushing through the drains. Besides all of that, E talks with Warren about her family corner shop in the West Rand. We learn how the fish and chips were made and how this family business was run. There's a pinball and a Pac Man machine and the smells of freshly baked bread, Coca Cola burps and cigarette smoke. Warren and E are children of the eighties and the corner shop was a big part of their lives during this time. We're then whisked away to the beach for a long walk and a lie down on the rocks. I am so excited that Warren is back and he has been able to share the first day of his travels with us all. It's just unbelievable to think how he gets these ideas and reels us in with his honesty, passion and bravery. He’s living for the moment and is not ashamed to belt out a shoddy rendition of Radiohead's Karma Police for us. Yep it's uncanny, the whole lot of it. Warren talks about airports, flying, and the stuffiness of these places. He's tired and a bit spaced out but that adds to the joy of this episode. He promised there’ll be more episodes about this journey. I darn well hope so as it's brilliant and I need it. Thank you for listening.

Hello and welcome to the final episode of this season. Warren concludes his mix tape with four more stunners: one each from from Paul Simon, Alanis Morissette, The Smashing Pumpkins and The War on Drugs. Our host is joined by his wonderful friend, Roger who shares his musical knowledge, wisdom and love with us. It's always an interesting and relaxing ride as the conversation rises from the songs and the atmosphere is built up through the sounds of the cassettes and CD player. This has been the best podcast I have listened to (well there are others that I love too, but this one is tops) so far since it started in March 2020. Warren is taking a break to make more stories. I can't wait until he is back for season 8. Thank you for listening.

In this penultimate episode of the season, Warren adds songs from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Ocean Colour Scene, Gomez and Eurythmics to his epic mix tape. Our host is on top form as always but he's in even higher spirits because he is joined by his mate Chris. Together they chat away while Warren tinkers with CDs, a cassette tape and his Sony boom box. I heard someone talking about What's in Your Shed? at a bus stop today and thought this podcast is really taking off. Alas, they were taking about a farm shed and tractors. Mishearing aside, this is the real deal, unlike anything you've ever heard before. Please tell your mates. Thank you for listening.

Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman, The Doors, Alice in Chains. These are the bands Warren has selected tracks from for his growing mix tape. The music is great and so are the stories Warren manages to spin from each song. During the episode Warren faces some truths about his feelings and skilfully turns the tide on what he describes as a couple of weeks of feeling down. The chat takes me off to a warm yellow sunset across fields of freshly harvested hay. I fell refreshed and renewed once again and ready for the change in seasons. Thank you for listening.

Once again Warren amazes us with his conversations. This time they're inspired by the next four tracks he is popping onto tape. An interlude is more than space for an idea to come and go. The interlude began as a transitional moment for audiences to catch their breath between the acts of a play or a movie. Today, interludes are most commonly employed as a pit stop; an opportunity to recalibrate and refocus our ears on the bigger picture. In this surprise episode Warren recalibrates himself and his audience with this one of a kind stream of consciousness. It's refreshing, calming, contemplative and filled with love drawn from the sky, fields, rivers, valleys, birds, friends and the sounds which surround us. No need to worry because Warren’s shed keeps on giving, even though this time the item doesn't even come from his shed. It’s Matt’s! Matt loaned Hellboy Seed of Destruction to Warren who loved it so much he decided to bring it to the next recording and devote the episode to Mike Mignola’s magical masterpiece. Matt started his Hellboy collection in the 90s and hasn’t looked back…until today where he looks into the past, present and future. He reflects on the drawings that have inspired his own. Matt was worried that he didn’t do the art justice, but he did more than that. Listen to this episode and feel the love and respect. From nowhere, Matt carefully hands Warren an original Mignola drawing to take a look at! Incredible! Warren called me after he and Matt had cycled back from the woods through the freezing November dusk to their warm homes. He said he felt like the portal was well and truly open and that this episode may have been the best, most natural conversation ever caught on tape. I agree. Thank you Hellboy. Warren is star struck as Greger guides them through the PJ minutia and fills in the gaps in Warren’s Pearl Jam memories. He keeps things on track as Warren tries to recall what happened at the eight or so PJ concerts he has been to (and the ones they both attended, but did not know each other back then) but Warren’s recollections are hazy. That’s rock n roll. This was an opportunity of a life time for the pair and every grungy detail has been captured on tape. There’s even a hidden track. D’oh that’s not hidden anymore now is it? A major highlight for me is when Greger describes how he feels at a Pearl Jam concert. It can only be true love. This is your time, this is your place, we’re good to go. Thank you for listening. This is it! The final episode of season 3 and I hear from Warren that he’s taking a break to gather in the harvest and reflect on what he and his guests have created. I’m devastated, although I do understand that this momentary space that’s going to be left only means that season 4 will come back more powerful and stronger than we can ever imagine. But by golly! What an episode to leave us with! Warren shares the stories behind his 1993 Pearl Jam t shirt and the band that changed the course of his life forever. To top it all off, his soul brother Salvador is with him to help create stories that are full of love, intrigue and surprise. From a smelly dead rat under Sal’s bed to a dodgy tattoo, the genius of Arundhati Roy and a fossilised dino tooth, Warren and Sal sail through the 90s guided by Pearl Jam’s lemon yellow sun. We’re all alive. Thank you for listening. Thank you Sal. See you in season 4. R.I.P Eddie Van Halen. See the t shirt and more here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CGCUuYxHBwa/?igshid=xgiahuq0ggdl

A perfect pint of an episode! Tess joins Warren to talk about a magical machine called a Kegerator. This wonder of the beer world brought Tess, her partner and a dear friend the coldest of comforts fresh from a keg during the lockdown. Imagine 568 milliliters of beautiful TAP Social brew, freshly poured at home while all the pubs are shut. This Kegerator has also brought us yet another evening of wonderful conversation spanning Oxford bands, The World Beer Awards, foxes in the night and an education into a drink first brewed 5,000 years ago in the grasslands of southern Babylonia. Cheers, thank you for listening. Hic. See the Kegerator and Moe here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CFwSKeBHFCG/?igshid=plfko4jhwh85

Cowabunga, bodacious! Welcome to another most excellent WIYS episode. Warren and Matt share the origins, as well as their own reminiscences, behind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This is enthusiastically done via a collection of 1988 TMNT toys and a fabulous comic book. Warren once again questions the purpose of his material possessions and realises that the stories these items illicit justify his collections. There’s music, film, comic books, a hippo making waves, a Million Dollar Golf Challenge and a childhood friendship made stronger by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Oh, and Matt skilfully guides us into The Savage Dragon vs The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story! This episode has strengthened me. It’s HIL (High Intensity Listening) to help get your mind and soul in shape, so you too can become a NMW (ninja mind warrior). You live, you die, you fight as brothers and sisters! Dling diiii dang twang, I see Scott over there with his shaggy hair. He holds a guitar flat on his lap and slides a metal bar across the strings over there. Yes, I’m caught in a trap, there’s no way out, because I love live music sounds too much baby. Pardon me, I got lost in the memories of yet another glorious episode. This one pulses and rhymes and finds its way straight to the part of my being that makes me wanna move and sing. Warren and Scott are lost but found together in the shed on a late Summer's evening. They chat about Scott’s treasured Golden Spangled Cigarettes tin from Gallaher Ltd in Belfast and of course the music making bits and bobs housed inside of it. Sounds are made and their cosmic connection is sealed by the music inside and all around us. Thank you for listening. See the gear here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CFMQG5gn4hS/?igshid=jhvvb43ue24w

Hello and welcome to what might well be the best episodes of the season yet. I know I said the same thing about the bass guitar episode with Georgia and probably a few of the others, but this one is super special. Why, I hear you ask? Well, Warren has revealed one of his greatest treasures yet. It is his Illustrated Long Walk to Freedom book (written by Nelson Mandela while imprisoned for 27 years on Robben Island) which has been signed by Nelson Mandela, his daughter Zindzi Mandela and Warren’s Ma! Three greats! And if that’s not enough for you, Warren introduces another great, his wife Jo, to us. We hear her sweet voice like that of a robin calling out in the early morning as it hops over the fresh dew covered grass. Discover the incredible connections Warren’s Ma has with Nelson Mandela, conker collecting shorts and swimming in a river lido with Anja. There’s even a singing performance in the Lucky Packet! Thank you for listening. See the autographed book here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CE5G4XAAMd6/?igshid=14njak0lpvxkj

Warren has returned to his shed in an attempt to rescue his season 1 solo efforts from the passage of time and other exciting endeavours. Little does Warren know that his ongoing collaboration with Matt has made the podcast even more powerful than the passage of time and other brilliant endeavours. When reunited, their ultimate collaboration will spell certain doom for the fear of the next not being as good as the first, and restore freedom to the galaxy… Add an easter egg hunt, seven 1996 Star Wars action figures, one Rebel Alliance Tattoo, one stairway to heaven and a banana bread bake show. Hello and welcome to what I believe will be a journey of a life time. This may even be the best episode yet! Georgia shares the stories of her grandad’s beloved bass guitar with Warren. They talk and play music late into the night. Bass is what gives us power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together. Welcome to the first full episode of season 3. Hannah is back with Warren to open another new season of WIYS. They are barricaded behind locks, wood and glass in the shed at the end of the garden. Listening to their chat about George A. Romero’s 1978 masterpiece makes me feel like I’m in the safety of the shed while zombies are dragging their cold dead hands squeakily down the shed windows trying to get in. Hannah has brought along an arsenal of Dawn of the Dead kit including a knitted zombie doll - you know the guy in the sambrero hat who had his arm ripped off while it was inside a blood pressure monitor machine? I am super chuffed Warren is back from his family Isle of Wight camping weekend with new ideas and energy and more enthusiasm (if that is even possible). I heard zombies have no reasoning ability, but I can imagine they would quit trying to eat you if they listened to this zombie weapon of an episode. Well done, you are life savers. If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the next WIYS episode and noticed the delay, then this is your lucky day. Warren is taking a break with his family at a remote campsite on the Isle of Wight. He has invited you to join him around a camping-gas burner and a small skillet. The sausages sizzle in the iron pan as Warren reflects on Season 2. The solar shower is cold and Anja drops out of a hammock. Warren is chuffed that he has learnt so many things like editing his episodes (funny that he hasn’t been able to edit out the sizzling sausages sounds). I’m hungry for more and pull up a folding chair for this very special season 3 teaser episode. It sounds like the magic is going to continue through the next season. You’re in for a right feast. You've landed a Caballerial: a 360-degree turn performed on a ramp while riding fakie (backwards), then cruised front on into episode 9 of season 2. Warren and his guest Simon conclude this second season with one of their favourite past times - everything skateboarding. Simon glides into the garden with his Bones Brigade Caballero Series 10 reissue skateboard deck and the stories of skate parks, the Bones Brigade, writing and his mid life crisis. Warren learns more about Simon and their shared passion for skateboarding through this beautifully crafted piece of skateboarding history, consisting of seven plies of US hard rock maple and the most sublime artwork that ever lived. I’ll certainly be back for season three to continue feeling free. Thank you for listening. Skate or Die. You’ve rolled a Natural 20 and made a Critical Hit, landing head on into episode 8 of season 2. Welcome to an adventure of a lifetime where Matt shares with us his journey into the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Matt has created a character card for Warren (WARRAN THE BARBARIAN) who now grips a front row ticket to the Theatre of the Mind in his sword wielding hand. Perceptions are checked, friendships are built, spells are cast, arrows are fired, a goblin’s head (with bulging eyeballs) rolls down the path. Face your fears, heroes don’t hide in the bushes. Please come in (vampires can now join us) and get ready for a very special story about magic, myth, religion, science and possibly beyond. Steve and Warren summon the tales from within the enchanting musty pages of The Golden Bough Volume 1. The Magic Art and the Evolution of Kings by Sir James George Frazer. The dense 19th Century account explores weird and wonderful human rituals and beliefs from around the globe. Steve uses wizard-like skill to summarise the story and to share his memories and feelings related to the book. Warren sits spellbound staring at Steve who glows orange-red beside the wheelbarrow fire. It’s a must for anyone who craves deeper understandings about our world, humanity, spells, totems, the arts, music and conversation. The peak of mystery mountain is reached when Warren channels energy from Steve’s rendition and the chilly cosmos to share another song!  See the book here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CC6caq1Ay3S/?igshid=fkavzymt88os

Hou ar ye? Season 2 episode 6 sees James skip down the hill to Warren’s garden with the biggest item to be brought in for the show yet. It’s his framed aerial photograph of Edinburgh. Oh my what a beautiful city it is, wherever you look at it from. It has an extinct volcano, castle, palace, old town and (as Warren points out) a train station! We get to hear about a fascinating aerial photography journey that started while James was selling whiskey and kilts online. The wheelbarrow fire is burning strong, there’s a giant moth, or a really small bat circling above like a spy drone and yeah,  James nails time travel. Warren gets a lesson about hip hop, we discover a necropolis where the first aerial photographer and Jim Morrison were buried (and other people). It’s definitely a sign, as aerial photos open the Doors of Perception for James and Warren. Once again, a stunning episode brought to you from the future, the past and most importantly the present. Thank you for listening.

Welcome to season 2 episode 5, and by golly this one delves into things that make us feel alive! Warren welcomes Salvador into his shed to unpack the stories from an object he hasn’t even brought in. Yeah, I know right?! He walked down the path to the shed at the end of the garden empty handed. Not even a house key to get back in his house after the show. Plus we can't be sure if the yarn he spins is actually for real. Maybe he can’t say what really happened because he’s still on the run? Seriously though, all the mystery and build up has made for a once in a life time conversation. What’s more is we have it all taped for you right here on your favourite podcast player. This episode is dedicated to auntie Shanni. Thank you for listening.

Welcome to season 2 episode 4, the one we’ve all been waiting for! Roger, the creator of the theme tune is Warren’s next amazing guest. He has brought along his treasured Corgi James Bond Lotus Esprit from 'The Spy Who Loved Me', the film soundtrack on vinyl and a repro box for the star of the show. The wheelbarrow fire is on, there’s less birdsong, Warren sings a song (yep), the neighbours are having a fun party and the wind is whipping up the memories. Take an underwater ride in the Lotus Esprit and escape into a Bond adventure, ready to resurface on a stunning sandy beach somewhere in Sardinia.

Welcome to this season 2 episode 3 Solstice special. Oh my, and it keeps getting better. Warren tells me that he sometimes worries about waking up one day with no more ideas. I assure him there’s no danger of that happening and he ought to continue living in the moment. I also mention that you can’t control these things, but you can certainly keep working hard and with passion. I gently whisper down the telephone “Warren, your guests bring with them their own creative energy…” and before I’ve finished, he’s off recording another enchanting episode with his third extraordinary guest, Erin. Together they set sail on a journey via a channel of smoke rising from the wheelbarrow fire. They stumble upon the retreating glaciers at the end of last ice age, a pair of nosy newts crawling across a kitchen floor and a poem by William Blake. All roused by a miniature Collins Gem book about wild flowers. The stars aligned, the birds joined in like they knew this was an homage to wild flowers, interconnectedness, balance, our planet, almost the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere, and Love. Enjoy, and thank you for listening.

Zap! fwthip! ding! ku-toosh! wunk! thunk! thoom thoom! Episode 2 of season 2 has spluptzed into your pocket podcast player. Wowser! What a night it has been. Warren and his very special guest Matt probably had one of the best lockdown garden chats on the planet ever. Matt brought along his favourite Superhero Comic books, carefully housed in a cardboard box within a blue pannier bag, and a stash of Beavertown Neck Oil tinnies covered in gorgeous comic artwork. There’s talk of applying talcum powder on a wheelbarrow wheel, a Pipistrelle Bat inside a match box, barbeque sauce, barking neighbourhood dogs. Oh, and comic books of course! Matt treats us to a most magically narrated comic book story I could happily listen to on loop. As Jupiter rises in the eastern skies and the dawn chorus is about to start, comic book gifts are exchanged, and tales of that night will be remembered forever. You Will Believe a Man Can Die! (this will be explained). Thank you for listening.

Hello to you, it’s episode 1 of season 2! Warren is in his element as he welcomes his first very special guest into his garden for the best episode of this new season yet. It’s like him and Hannah stepped into the wheelbarrow firepit in front of them and got lobbed back in time to when Hannah tore open the Christmas paper to reveal her Casio VL1. The keyboard synth bleeps boldly into the cool night air. Music and voices mingle with rising bonfire smoke and ash floats softly down like snowflakes. Warren sings his own lyrics to the Star Wars main theme tune, then Hannah summons Mozart with a glass harmonica. It’s truly fantastical. Attach Decay Sustain Release. Thank you for listening, enjoy!
