Ten Years have passed since we started Radio HOTLAP. Hundreds of episodes. Thousands of wines and meals enjoyed. But its time to say farewell to our many loyal viewers and perhaps its also time to time to say goodbye to VW. Never fear for JP and Harty will return in November with a new podcast called HELLO VIEWERS.
Controversial is the word to describe the turn around in attitude between V8 Supercars and the Bathurst 12 Hour. We chat about what we hope will and wont happen and the fact that the Bathurst 6 Hour is now in its infancy effectively replacing what was the original 12 Hour. A bit of Jethro Tull thrown in for good measure
It was a long drive to Melbourne where as usual Harty would prepare a Roast Dinner of some kind at the house of the Z Man. However McYukkets was quick to inhale the majority of it leaving little for others which subsequently incurred the wrath within.
Having known The Shortest Man in the World for over thirty years and multiple Bathurst races it was only fitting that a Chinese lunch in Dee Why be had. From there a certain ex Ford Laser racer who way back in 1985 raced the wrong direction at Oran Park alongside David Brabham Mark Skaife and The Short One was about the become a victim of this episode. Lots of tall tales and gags are within this gem.
It was started a week after The Clipsal and added to a week later. Then everything went tits up and JP was busy with a paint brush in his hand. That forced Harty to visit Princess Datilda for a few weeks only to discover the final part of the episode was lurking on his phone. Better late than never.
Quite unacceptable really. Harty goes off to Europe via Macau and then had the audacity to come back not do a show and go directly to Dubai for the 24H race. If that was not enough insult the asshole has flown very nicely to Austria only to be almost killed by a falling overpass. Pity really. Anyway we are back. Stories from everything as you would expect. Mostly lies.
With the Daily Sports Car boss Graham Goodwin having just flown into Sydney for the Bathurst 12 Hour it was only normal that Harty bludge a ride. Driving the loaner W12 Bentley Flying Spur up and over the Blue Mountain was a perfect opportunity for the pair chat about whats happened in the last moment in time and a few other intriguing tidbits without need to stop for an apple at Bilpin but a beer and a cup of tea at Kurrajong.
Cartoonist Stonie joins Adelaide F1 and Clipsal 500 Media Manager Mike Drewer and his trusty better half Penny Gordon who despite her Putinesque management of media centres is really a big softie.
With the ADAC GT Masters season over Harty returns to sleepy Adelaide to find JP has moved onto mowing lawns and Duncs is living in a cave. The locals review a rather sensational Bathurst 1000 and generally talk a lot of tech and BBQ crap whilst Rusty Sausage snoozes below our table. Most refreshing indeed.
Having learnt the finer points of how to talk Australians JP is embarking on a ritual of morning red wine testing before he launches his own brand. We revisit Slovakiaring and look ahead to Nurburgring. Some very interesting technical stuff is hidden within the regular podcast gem.
Whilst enroute to Slovakiaring for the 5th round of the ADAC GT Masters Harty receives an invitation from a secret Hungarian admirer to visit the Lovely city of Budapest. Known only as TB and one that works on secret projects day and night meant The Viewer had no time at all to show me any of the so called Lovely Town on The Danube. Finally we have had him arrested and taken him along with a shy mysterious girl who says very little to a Lovely restaurant on the Pest side of town for interrogation.
Despite Hashtag Snickolas questioning the validity of flouresence in his Green Chicken Curry and The Japlets disapproval of certain beepable language we continue to deliver very little in terms of motorsport news. But harken Viewers for within this Thai Restaurant special are hidden gems that shall have ye rolling like Jaffas down the aisles. Right O get on with it then...
The Z Man and his sister Niki bring along Team Reds McNuggets for a frank conversation about his new found prowess in V8 Supercars whilst inhaling a sizzling teppanyaki set D in Melbourne.
Relaxing at our French chateau about 30 minutes from La Sarthe Charlotte Frantelli and Harty have a chat about her new film called Road to Le Mans before we suddenly find ourselves transported quite nicely thanks very much back to JP and The Dogz for regular HQ comedy in sleepy old Adelaide.
Huge trouble yet again in EU the US armed forces for having an opinion about ugly women in Bavaria. Japes gives us the Aussie scene story. Nath sleeps through the whole deal. A trip to Nurnberg. eLMS and Blancpain Sprint. And the regular tech and food blab.

Nathan Morcom gets a top ten result on debut at the ADAC GT Masters. Mario and Dominik are at Laguna Seca doing TUSCC with International Pauly lurking. WEC from Spa was entertaining via an unusual delivery method. DTM Hockenhiem was huge. Chaypee on Pukekohe V8SC. It descents to the gutter with Jack Le Brocq and rises once again to the World Headquarters where a particularly excellent dinner of silverside just like Mum made has been inhaled. Featuring Niki Zuka and Maddie along with the original Hi Vis Mis himself Le Fogeaux who in all fairness gives a good snapshot of the impending F1 season. Naturally there is negativeness from Chaypee.

We make a fleeting visit to Sandown to keep an eye on Nathan and Garry Holt who go onto to win the 3 hour AMChamp race along with the title. Harty gets caught in an accomodation dilemma with The Foges only to have FWBM sort the matter out. The annoyance of Adobe Creative Cloud and very ordinary pub meal round out this sudden episode.

There was not even the slightest chance that a show would be done today but then the phone rang and a mystery guest with a penchant for steaks arrived armed with many sories. Perhaps he was dentist in a previous life suffice to say you shall be enthralled with tales of racing tech and BBQ.
Amazingly JP was on time and Le Fogeaux seemed as if no heart attack on the tennis court had even occured whilst he expoused the virtues of the new Richie Cunningham movie called Rush. Meanwhile evil forces were at play in Singapore despite the fact that Bryce and Harty enjoyed the most pleasant 1974 Toyota Crown taxi ride from Marina Bay Sands to the airport. Sitting around the Danish table is Lars Dominik Bryce and International Pauly where further tales of Allan unfold the night before his funeral. And then we are back in OZ with JP and Duncan Donuts to complete the episode and even more deluxe Danish stories.
JP and Harty disect a random dozen images of Allan Simonsen and ones that touched their lives. Both of us thought this was going to be a teary affair but whilst the show does start a bit off beat from our usual style we get back to our usual demeanour pretty quickly. Just wait until the next version of episode 250 coming soon from Denmark.
Wearing a light grey T shirt The Foges causally asks what the weather is like from his London digs smirking slightly. You know its bloody cold here although its rained in France all June which leaves Jason Bright a little bit anxious as he makes his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut. A very warm afternoon sipping local Bathurst wines. That is exactly how this episode unravels on the balcony of the Chicane Bar at Mount Panorama with the rather overly boisterous Fogeaux who has arrived to see whats going on at the Bathurst 12 Hour.
