This podcast follows the west coast Canadian band Carmanah through their ambitions and creative processes, their adventures on tour, and the interesting people they meet along the way.
At this time of year the 'ol birds and bees are in full swing! And you know what that means.. Fruit season is just around the corner! But what happens to all those backyard fruit trees that don't have anybody to pick them? Enter Tim Fryatt and the Fruit Tree project, part of the Life Cycles food sustainability organization. Tim is with us to explain how the project works, and how he and his team of volunteers rescue the hidden Victoria harvest, and distribute the fruit to the community!
April 1st! Today's guest is radio personality and all around great guy, Jon Williams. We chat with Jon about breaking from his regular 9-5 and starting his own internet radio station, What Was That? Radio. We also discuss finding happiness during a pandemic, welcoming change and practicing gratitude. Oh, and the band does a cover of Dolly Parton's 9-5. In episode nine we go foraging for mushrooms on the west coast of Vancouver Island with our friends and mushroom experts Jon, Jan and Julia (Foragers Galley). We also visit Jon's mushroom farm where he grows gourmet Blue Oyster and Lion's Mane mushrooms for local restaurants. We discuss bio-remediation, bushwhacking in Spanish and lucky foraging rituals.
This week, for the first time since COVID19 hit, the band is finally back on stage with a six-show residency at the Breakwater Tasting Room in Victoria BC. We share some performance highlights as well a post-show debriefing that meanders into discussing homemade tattoos, evil people and finding love during quarantine.
In this episode Pat and Laura talk about their involvement with The Jellyfish Project - an organization that promotes education and advocacy for the health of our oceans through live music presentations in schools. We also talk to board member Naomi Fleschhut about the organization's goal and successes so far.

In this episode, Laura and Pat take us on a tour of the current tour bus + tiny home project. From vacuum toilets to chest fridges we hear about the challenges of the build, the plans for the future and the community needed to raise a bus.
