Vintage Stories is a production of Vintage Church in Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. This podcast features members, staff, artists, and non-profits we partner with, each telling their unique story of how God is doing incredible work of redemption, beauty, and justice in our cities.
On the season finale of Vintage Stories, Jennifer and Michael sit down with Craig Smitley. Craig’s heart led him to truly see and care for the people experiencing homelessness who sleep on the steps of the Vintage Church Downtown building. This is a helpful conversation for those of us who are wondering how we can better engage with and help those with tangible needs.

Our third goal as a church is to be relational in our journey to become more inclusive, equitable, and unified. As we grow in our knowledge of history and theology, it’s to be lived out in our context: with all people in the place we live. We’re currently going through our Abound Series, which involves a pretty large initiative. It’s unlike anything we’ve done in our 19 year history, and we hope sets us on a trajectory for the next twenty years, so naturally there are many questions surrounding such a massive undertaking. On five different Tuesday evenings, Michael and Jennifer are interviewing Tyler Jones, lead pastor of Vintage, regarding the Abound Initiative. Why do we use the term "followers of Jesus" instead of "Christian" at Vintage Church? Is discipleship the same as simply being a follower of Jesus? In this episode of Vintage Stories, Jennifer and Michael sit down with Ted Yap, Director of Ministries at Vintage Church Downtown. Ted attended Vintage Church while at N.C. State, and over the years following school joined staff, first as Director of Vintage Students and College, then full-time as Vintage College Director. As he steps into this new role overseeing Ministries at Vintage Church Downtown, Ted is excited to discuss the upcoming Gospel class we're hosting this Summer and how other followers have discipled him throughout his life.

What exactly did Jesus mean when he called us to love our neighbor as ourselves? Kevin Singer has been on a journey to follow Jesus in his call to love our neighbors, no matter their social standing, religion, or political affiliation. In 2015 he and Chris Stackaruk started Neighborly Faith, an organization working to encourage and equip Christians to love their Muslim neighbors. In this episode of Vintage Stories, Jennifer and Michael sit down with Kevin, and hear about this journey that Vintage Church North is now a part of.
