MarkWHO42's Universe: Recent Episodes

SUBSPACE Radio

Starting the first Monday of March at 9pm Eastern, MarkWHO42 returns on internet radio on SUBSPACE Radio.

We will be on weekly with new episodes and the station will be putting us in different time slots too, so we air at a good listening hour for different time zones.

You can find SUBSPACE at SUBSPACE.radio and other radio players like iHeartRadio and Soundcloud plus have apps for Apple and Google Play devices.

This station is great. They are a part of The Federation, a non-profit organization started partly by Gene Roddenberry. IFT (The Federation) is dedicated to enjoying the Star Trek mythos in all its different forms. IFT encourages fans to pursue all or any part of Star Trek that they take pleasure from, as long as this does not harm others. We encourage our members to add exciting new stories, concepts, and ideas to the ever-expanding Star Trek universe. The point is to have FUN with one another by participating in meetings, attending conventions, and sharing our views and experiences from around the world. And SUBSPACE is their station.

And wouldn’t you know, they invited MarkWHO42 along for the journey. We may not be Star Trek per se, but we do believe in the dreams and beliefs of Gene Roddenberry. We will have episodes on Doctor Who, some on Star Trek, and many other shows of the genre. And we’ll delve into fandom as well.

Alpha Waves is another popular show on the station as well as The 7th Rule: A Podcast! featuring Aron Eisenberg and Cirroc Lofton (Nog and Jake Sisko) from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine! They even have the "Star Trek: Discovery" after-show, Disco After Party, with Michael Hinman and Adam Barnard beginning at 10 p.m. ET on Thursdays after each show debuts on CBS All Access!

So join MarkWHO42 on SUBSPACE Radio this March and go from the WHOniverse and beyond... as long as we don’t run into the Borg... that could be messy!

Episode 20 - Field Trip to The End of Time

Join Mark Baumgarten, Trish Freyre, and Eduardo M. Freyre (the original team of MarkWHO42) as they accompany Weekend TARDIS at last week's theatrical screening of Doctor Who: The End of Time with David Tennant, John Simm as The Master, and Bernard Cribbins as Wilf Mott.

The first half was recorded at the event itself with fan interviews and loads of fun especially with thw technical difficulties with the showing itself (causing the show to start an hour after it should have... at least we got our money back). The second half is a review we never did before of the original 2-part episode because MarkWHO42 hadn't been in existence when it originally came out...

MarkWHO42! We don't spit when we talk, but give Timothy Dalton a break... he's playing Rassilon, so he can do whatever he wants!!!

episode 18 - MarkWHO42's Origin

Journey back to August 2012 when Mark Baumgarten and Tric Freyre (then Helm) invited Eduardo M. Freyre to join their cast of improv characters talking about Doctor Who on a show called MarkWHO42 & Torrid Tori's Podcast Blog. This show was so COOL it even had a special effects budget!!!

This episode is from a 2-parter called The MarkWHO42 Experiment after the first Doctor Who Mark ever saw back in 1978, The Sontaran Experiment. UNCUT and complete!!!

MarkWHO42! Even back in it's first incarnation, it was really awesome... and still is!!!

Episode 17 - TV End of Days

All Good Things must come to end. At some point a TV show ends its run. And the MarkWHO crew decided to dedicate an episode to some of the best and worst TV series finales of all time.

From animes and like Gundam Wing and Evangelion to TV icons like MASH and Star Trek the Next Generation. There'll be character deaths and heartfelt farewells. Finales that made us cry and finales that made us mad. And maybe a finale or two that wasn't meant to be the end but gave us an ending anyway.

This episode will be more fun than waking up and finding out it was all a dream.

Episode 14 - Time Machines

Then, the show takes a Timey-Wimey turn as they give their top 5 favorite time machines other than the TARDIS. Yes we love Doctor Who the most, but there are other ways to travel through time and space in different sci-go franchises and we thought we’d share some of them. Beyond the WHOniverse indeed!

MarkWHO42! Regardless of the list, The TARDIS is still our number one!

Episode 13 - Still Life

This week we focus on Big Finish Productions’ writing competition called the Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trips Opportunity 2019. It is in honor of the late Paul Spragg who was a very valued employee at the company until his death in 2014.

In 2016, this contest started where fans are asked to write a single page synopsis and a single page opening of the story itself. That’s about 500 words for each page to start. The due date for this 4th year of the competition is on June 30th, 2019 so the competition is now over.

As our guest on this special episode of MarkWHO42 we have Max Curtis, who entered the contest 2 years ago and became a runner-up. But even though usually only the winner gets to write their story for an audio adventure, his was so good that Big Finish hired him to complete his story and it’s being released as a subscriber special alongside June’s Main Range story “An Alien Werewolf in London”. The Short Trips adventure is called “Still Life” and features the characters of The Third Doctor and Jo Grant and in our opinion is utterly amazing and emotional.

To get this audio, you must subscribe to the Main Range line at Big Finish and make sure story #252 is included, or you will have to wait a year or two until it’s separately released but listen to us... don’t wait. Go to Big Finish now... well after you listen to the episode of MarkWHO42 of course!

MarkWHO42! Where Max Curtis gets you to enter the Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trips Opportunity!

Eduardo M. Freyre takes the helm as the MW42 crew look at the MCU Infinity Saga ended. From Thor's surprising transformation to the two words Captain America said that made Eduardo cheer. Plus a discussion on how the time travel worked and what could it mean for the MCU going forward.

It's more fun than being found worthy to lift Mjolnir.
