This podcast has been long overdue, and we finally realized it was time to publish it when it had been almost a year since we've published and with no guilt or pangs of remorse with everything else going on we felt now was the time to step back. We explain in great detail why. The show will remain open so listeners can checck past episodes. Farewell and godspeed. .
This is the week we finally relaunch. There's a bit of disscussion in the beginning about Matt's long absence and then we'll dive right back in whefre we left off. With Navy Lark, that means right back to Series 12 and we leaarn what happens when Troutbridge winds up in Shanghai, rather then Shankley and what happens when an old flame enters Povy's office. Then it's off to London late 1890s as we continue our look at The Casebook Of Sherlock Holmes and The Three Garadebs. enjoy.
It feels like the end of an era, not for Brunch but for Narnia. We've done it along with an hour's worth of Navy Lark, that because this episode was actually recorded last winter I can't remember but fear not. Brunch is relaunching and I'll have more details on that soon! Meanwhile enjoy this.

This week we debut a new documentary which is a companion to an audiobook I discovered on my recent flight to Kansas. It's called An Utterly And Impartial History of Britain and we look at the first episode from 2007. We go spycatching with Troutbridge's crew from Feb 22 1970 engage in the Canterbury Tales with the Radio Prune Crew from JFeb 22 1970 we continue our Inspector West mystery from 1969 as we listen to Part 6 of Inspector West At Bay and we begin The Horse And His Boy in our look at Narnia. On this rather delayed show due to the host's vacation, we begin with Navy Lark, then we look at Prince Philip again in his own words talking about his war time experiences. I don't pretend to be a mental health expert, but this week's play does deal with mental illness. We'll be looking at Hearing Voices, which describes in greaat detail a policeman's horrifying abuse by schitzofrenia. It’s because we’ll be listening to “Amadeus,” by Peter Shafer but before we do we’ll be looking at Mozart through some of his best music along with James Nochte from July 2, 2007. “Amadeus,” is from 2006 and stars Paul Schofield as Salieri and Simon Callow as Mozart. This week we begin a tribute to one of this host's favorite heroes of all time. Many of you will remember Roger Moore in the iconic role. To true Brunch listeners John Lingard needs no introduction. However if your new to the show or you like reaading things about other people we're goiong to give John Lingard an introductin anyway. In 2009 during one of Matt's many ramblings as usual Matt got something wrong. A Listener emailed the show to kindly correct Matt on his infality and what do you know? A friendship struck. John began appearing annually to discuss the state of Britain every year around the holidays and in 2015 actually flew to America to accompany Matt and Maria to their first NAB convention in Las Vegas. While Nab has invited them all back they've also increased their prices. In 2016 John did two wonderful things for the show. First he co hosted an episode while Matt and Maria were on their honeymoon but he also flew back to America to take part in the long planned wedding of Matt and Maria. Now it's their turn to fly to England to vissit him. Oncce Texas is over it's on the trip agenda. John has kept us pretty current with our shows so Making Of Music the prunes and yes even Earthsearch is back but ... knowing John there may be a few Easter eggs hiding in Brunch Studio UK. This episode is due in large part to German professor Margaret Dorsch of bethany College and her persistance that her German 1 class attend her Thursdaay night foreign film club during the autumn of 1991. I have no ideaa where the Frau is these days but I hope she finds this and is doing well. For if it weren't for her and John Paulsen's exhustive work on subtitles I would never have found Colnel Redl so interesting as to one day present a drama on the same subject this one thankfully in English. Work projects are slowing down so more brunch to come.

As it's the weekend and another episode of Brunch is in the works I'd like to begin this press release with an apology. I want to begin this overview by thanking David O'neil from Extinct Attractions. Just recently he played an intervew of himself done by another podcaster. Well if Dave can do it ... so can I. And I really wanted to share this one with you guys without starting another podcast. So here it is. Lst Saturday I participated in an interview roundtable with noted baseball historian and local radio talk show host Ira Fistel. We talked about a lot of stuff including the 1919 Black Sox Scandal how baseball games were originally thrown the difference between a 19th century and current game and the state of baseball broadcasting. The pannel includes myself, noted otr personality Larry Gassman, Mike Stern and our exultant chair Bob Acosta. It's an hour and a half. And I really hope you come away learning something. If you're a baseball fan you're gonna love it. Btw what does this have to do with Brunch or BBC? Nothing!! With Fred in the hospital gravely ill this is my chance to go solo and yet while I'm flying solo I miss Fred. But fear not. Before Fred got to sick he left me a lesson plan for his hour. I mean let's face it there were Santa Ana winds a plenty this week while Brunch was being put together Dsl's were not connecting or disconnecting I tested new work software and yet and yet ... And so this week we begin Brideshead Revissited. It's the story of Charles Rider and his friendship with Sebastian Flight. We look back with Charles from his time as a captain in the infantry in 1944. The story really begins in 1923 with the introduction of Charles and Sebastian. Remember this was a tv show and a recent film besides a book. As you listen pay attention to the different classes. We then spin out of this world with Fred to finish Hitchhikers and return to the little world of Don Camillo. Enjoy. This week on Brunch we say goodbye to Dan Dare. After we return to Earth we look again at Jean and Lionel. Lionel's off to his lecture in Norwich and Jean decides to surprise him. Then again it's Jean who is suprised. Now in Fred's hour we begin with Falco and "The Silver Pigs." Marcus Falco is a Roman detective in the year 70 A.D. He's a publican and is sent to investiate a senator's daughter's death. After that we meet for the first time the man in black. Oh otr fans know him from Suspense. They've done no more Dan Dare since. After Dan Dare we'll listen to episode 2 of As Time Goes By. Jean and Lionel go on a "date," of sorts. Then Fred Bertelsen plays the first episode of "In The Valley of Fear." This is an Arthur Conan Doyle novel and I warn you. Saturday Night Theater was a Radio 4 classic. And tonight's Brunch was no acception as we presented a whol hour and a half play. Remember the shot that killed Harry Lime? If you liked old time radio you do. This week we present "The Third Man," starring Ian Henri as Harry Lime and Rollo Martins being played by Philip Marlowe himself Ed Bishop or back then Edward Bishop. For those of you who don't know it's okay as "The Third Man," is what started it all. It spawned a ten episode BBC series back in the fifties after its release as a movie. It starred Joseph Cotton and Orson Wells. If you were a fan of the film you won't be disapointed with the play. Script is literally from screenplay. Enjoy. In this episode a new comedy is debuted plus a lecture and we return to our two great serials. Fir starters Matt presents the Mark Steel Lecture. Mark Steel is a frequent commentator on BBC Radio and a columnist in the Independent. In his first historical lecture he discusses Oliver Cromwell and then we revissit Chief Inspector West. After that we present The Klithrow Kid. Jimjy Klithrow was a sitcom from the 1950s and he enjoyed success as an adult playng an eleven year old. We then end with more great Bing Crosby music. Hi it's Wednesday July 30 and as it's my day off I'm uploading more past episodes. Roger's been reinstated at Scotland Yarsd but that bein said he's not out of the woods yet. In the second play of Cesar entitled "The Arena," from July 27 2003 we look at Augustus. Augustus was Cesar's adopted nephew and one power hungry man. We look at his life as he is an old man watching games in the Roman Arena. After we finish that Fred reintroduces us to Lionel and Jean. They've gotten toether now and realize the love from 38 years ago is still very much there so what's going to happen now? AFter that it's pannel show time as we listen to "My Music."
