Every year, they throw a Fourth of July Festival and it has grown so big, that the town was Federally recognized as "The Fourth of July City." The festival is SO BIG, that over 45,000 people attend each year. But it's October, who cares??? Well, according to TripAdvisor, when it's not The Fourth of July, Bottle Rocket Brewing is the number 1 thing to do while in Seward, NE. So, to close out our 2022 Oktoberfest series, we're drinking their version of the well-known style, Oktoberfest.

This Hazy IPA came to us from the Boston, MA / Portland, ME meet and greet that we had a while back. The super funny thing about it is that this beer is actually from Portland, OR. They just distribute their beer to Massachusetts and one of our recruiters Cough Braden Boex Cough Cough grabbed it on accident thinking it was locally brewed in Maine. But as Rich says, "I will drink any beer you put in front of me," that's exactly what happens on this episode of A Beer with Atlas.
This week, we decided to drink 3 beers from Milewide Brewing Company in Louisville, KY. For National IPA day specifically, we saved the sour IPA for last!

Week 4 of drinking Non-Alcoholic beers just so happens to land on 4/20. So, we decided we should "Dank" it up a little bit with another Non-Alcoholic IPA from Wellbeing Brewing Co. BUT, even with the added flavor, we're still staying sober for the drug test we will take for our next travel nurse assignment. ;)
If someone handed us this beer and told us that it's just a regular IPA, we would believe them. That is just a little bit about how well this beer kept its flavor through the removal of alcohol in the brewing process.

"Grateful Red," a red ale from Kenai Brewing Company, is what we're drinking this Thanksgiving. By the looks of the can and the obvious name, we are going to go out on a limb and assume that the head brewers might be Grateful Dead fans or "Deadheads" as they would say.

If someone told you they were going to serve you "Omnipollo ice creamy white chocolate mango" what would you guess they are going to give you? Surprise! It's a triple IPA craft beer from Omnipollo brewing in Sweden. Rich found this dessert beer gem in Colorado and brought it back for our Beer Crew to try. Is it a snack? Is it ice cream? 2021 is just beginning, but we can finally see the back of our office beer fridge as we clear it out to pour one out (or 12) for 2020. Nothing decks our halls quite like a six-pack of good craft beer and great conversation with friends. This week, we kick off the Christmas season with a festive Christmas Ale made in the Scotch tradition from Bell's Brewery out of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Another brew by Bell's, "Two Hearted Ale", won the Best Beer in America award through the American Homebrewers Association in 2020. So they know a thing or two about brewing a fine craft beer. Dropping in at a hefty 18% alcohol content, this beer is the strongest we've ever featured on the podcast. This Stan Musial Lager from Urban Chestnut Brewing Company was originally planned to arrive at the start of the baseball season. (Sad crying sounds go here.) Rich misses baseball SO MUCH, that he was even willing to drink this lager honoring a Cardinal player. St. Louis-based Urban Chestnut Brewing Company may sound like a name you'd bet to cover the split at the horseraces, but this brewpub has built a name among Cardinal-loving natives for its craft beer, pizza, and beer garden. We're digging this Roswell-themed Alien IPA from Sierra Blanca Brewery sent to us from one of our travelers. Shantelle Medlin snagged these while on assignment at Artesia General Hospital in New Mexico. Shantelle is a CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) and she got as big a kick out of these funky beers as we did. (She also hooked us up with some "Outer Space Vodka"!) Near the famed Roswell UFO crash location, this is a region full of all sorts of kitschy alien gimmicks and roadside attractions. We discuss alien conspiracies, and which type of "classic" alien abduction would be the worst to go through as we get into this IPA. We can't quite say this brew is out of this world, but it's a fun regional take on the granddaddy of alien conspiracy theories. After our fourth bottle, we actually thought we saw something in the night sky, but it was probably just swamp gas reflecting off of Venus. This is one weโve been excited for. When we stumbled upon this Atlas IPA from Marshall Brewing Company, we quickly put the call out for this titanic beer bearing our namesake. Nurse Recruiter Mark Lau was able to work some magic and his traveler Devin Beatty came through in a big way. Not only was Devin in the area where this beer is made, but he got us some Atlas-themed swag from Marshall Brewing, too! We chat about Atlas-themed beer, crack open this IPA, and discuss other Tulsa points of random trivia like native Garth Brooks, and the fact that it was the shooting location for 1989 cult classic โUHFโ. We sample Blue Owl Brewing with Jubilberry, a sour winter ale, and Little Boss, a sour session wheat. We dive into these Texas sours and discuss Houston trivia, the music of Willie Nelson, and even Willie's son Lukas Nelson. Our team enjoyed these brews even though they offer some flavor profiles that would normally be outside of our beer reviewer preferences. This is a bit of a milestone for us. In this episode we review "War Elephant", which is the very first beer collaboration we've covered on "A Beer With Atlas". This brew was a collab between the Oliphant and Eastlake Brewing companies. This pink pachyderm packed a very unique flavor that we liked, but is hard to pin down, doubtless this was the result of the two breweries' different approaches to #craftbeer. We dive into the marshes of South Carolina and come up with a refreshing 6 pack of this Pluff Mud Porter from Holy City Brewing. This beer is a classic American Porter and a popular one for Holy City's efforts in the Charleston market. If you're in the area, this is one you'll probably want to try, along with any of the other beers this regional brewer has available. But what is "Pluff Mud"? We wondered that, too. We liked how they explained it. Here's what the brewery says on their site: "Pluff mud [plร ยญff-mร ยญd], noun, A mixture of dirt and water indigenous to the marshes of the South Carolina Lowcountry, with a distinct odor thatโs endearing to locals, but off-putting to tourists and redcoats." We went to a local brewery, Kros Strain Brewing Company in Omaha, to record our podcast and to try their take on Sierra Nevada's Resilience IPA. Sierra Nevada is a brewery out of Chico, California whose employees were affected by the wildfires back in November. So in an effort to raise money. they released the recipe for this beer so that other breweries could make it, sell it, and then donate the proceeds towards those affected by wildfires.
