Our names are John and Miller and we believe that lots of interesting things happen in Charlotte. They can be great things everyone is proud of. They can also be unsavory, disappointing, or missed opportunities. We want to understand all of these things and we think you do too.

This week we reconnected with the 5th Street Group to hear the latest performance of the Tip the Kitchen initiative (spoiler alert: it’s going great). The boys also handed out some Cheers and Jeers and weighed in on the latest City Council shenanigans.
We were joined again by Spencer Lueders for an update on 24 Hours of Booty and how they have adjusted over the past year and their plans for the upcoming event. John continued to talk about NFTs and why he hates LoSo.
This week we sat down with Patrick Whalen and Chef Jamie Lynch to learn more about the start of their restaurant group, how they were affected by a global pandemic and the measures they are taking to better support their staff. We also learned about Miller’s dating strategy, John growled like a Panther and we tried out our first ever cold open.

We were joined by Ely Portillo of UNC Charlotte’s Urban Institute to discuss his new podcast and explain to us what the Charlotte Future 2040 plan is as if we were babies. We also chatted about 2021 Charlotte Resolutions and the Charlotte City Council Retreat, and debuted the Charlotte Fact of the Week.

This week we talk with historian, data guy, and friend of the pod Chuck McShane and go deep on his question “what were the most impactful events in Charlotte since 2005”. Topics included the usual suspects like the DNC, financial crisis, and HB2 but also a few surprises. John also details how he will celebrate the opening of the Hawthorne Street Bridge.

We have been profoundly moved by the death of George Floyd while in police custody and are interested in channeling our frustration and anger into a better way forward as a society and city.
To broaden our understanding of what policy changes could be possible, we spoke this week with Robert Dawkins of Action NC and SAFE Coalition NC. Robert has been advocating for police and criminal justice reform since 2014 and shared his personal experience and specific policy proposals that can reduce police brutality in Charlotte.
This week John and Miller talked about ten of Charlotte’s Craziest Sports Facts. We covered everything from daredevils to great uniforms to the controversial happenings of a Banana Joe’s bathroom.
We were also joined by a surprise guest to share some details on an upcoming event.

Today we celebrated a milestone: our 200th episode!
We shared our favorite memories over the past ~120 hours of #content, discussed some of our Hopes and Dreams for the future of the show, and we did it all under the shroud of a global pandemic that threatens our way of life!
We closed with some kind (?) words of congratulations on 200 episodes from friends of the show.

In our most unique interview to date, we sat down with two passengers from the "Miracle on the Hudson" flight to hear first-hand what that day was like for them, how it changed the passengers and crew forever and what it means to see the plane in Charlotte.
