Rob Dietrich is the currently the Master Distiller of Metallica's Blackened American Whiskey, though he may have the most diverse resume in his field, reflecting a man that remains impossible to categorize (and hard to hold down for long). Rob is a combat veteran who joined the Army in his twenties and served three tours, one of them being the incident referred to as "Black Hawk Down". He's a lifelong die-hard music fan of every genre, who chooses to have a record player in his home instead of a television. Rob also has an impressive music career, formerly having worked for Bill Graham Presents for a decade (his first assignment for the world famous promoter was The Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1996, which made an indelible impression and impact on his life). This episode features Jaymee in an extremely rare conversation with Lady Diana Mukpo, wife of The Venerable Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, on the 36th anniversary of his Parinirvana ("death"). Lady Diana had originally invited Jaymee to her home in Florida to record the episode in person, but she found herself unexpectedly hospitalized nearing the recording date. To Jaymee's astonishment, Lady Diana remained committed to their recording on this day, and the two were able to meet for the first time over zoom and record this conversation from her hospital bed on one of the most significant days of her life.
Coming fresh off the heels of Jaymee finishing Lady Diana's incredible book Dragon Thunder: My Life With Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Jaymee intentionally chooses to direct the focus of this episode less on the powerful teachings or magical events of Trungpa Rinpoche's life that usually fill the spotlight, and more on the human story behind two of the most significant and controversial/misunderstood figures in Tibetan Buddhism reaching America. Jaymee and Lady Diana discuss whether or not Trungpa Rinpoche suffered from PTSD, and you'll hear about a moment early on where she rerouted his attempt to commit suicide.
This episode shines spotlight on the brilliant integrity and determination of Lady Diana - a young woman of 16 facing the patriarchal dark ages of emotionality and equality, only to find an indestructible karmic calling as Trungpa Rinpoche's partner, best friend, and lover. The contributions she and Trungpa Rinpoche have made toward establishing a path of non-aggression for western society is unparalleled, and the merit truly beyond measure.

This episode chronicles the hard earned spiritual unfoldment of the great saint, author and editor Parvati Markus, who's first acid trip (Golden Sunshine/Owlsey acid) in 1969 led her directly to a first encounter with a freshly anointed Ram Dass, beaming with light at his fathers farm. Parvati became Ram Dass's personal secretary for two years, helping him edit his spiritual classic Be Here Now while saving up money to eventually travel to India with her heart set solely on meeting Neem Karoli Baba, who she believed to be the source of Ram Dass's inner light. After an arduous journey traveling through India for the first time in 1971, she contracted hepatitis while traveling, she eventually made it to darshan with Maharaj-ji, and reads her journal notes from her first encounter with him. Parvati is a Love Serve Remember rebel, who for 7 months lived with Maharaj-ji alongside her early cronies Ram Dass, Krishna Das, Mirabai Bush, Rameshwar Das and a young Raghu Markus - who Parvati spontaneously married at the behest of Maharaj-ji on this trip, presiding himself over the ceremony. Parvati then had the incredible honor of becoming Maharaj-ji's "private secretary", where she experienced countless first hand account miracles and a lifetime's worth of wisdom and grace, which she emanates. Parvati is the author of Whisper In The Heart, and Love Everyone, both books inspired by the wisdom and presence of Neem Karoli Baba, and has been a contributing editor for 50 years of a range of Love Serve Remember authors. Carolyn Rose Gimian is the Executive Director of the Chogyam Trungpa Institute, and was a close student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's who later served as editor of many of his classic books including Shambhala: Sacred Path Of The Warrior and Smile At Fear. Carolyn, her husband James (Jim) Gimian and Samuel Bercholz (founder, Shambhala Publications) were some of the earliest members of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's sangha, nearly involved with nearly every facet of his life for the entirety of his 17 years he remained alive in America. Carolyn, Jim and Samuel remain surrendered devotees of Trungpa Rinpoche to this day, and are generous, living testaments to the wisdom contained in his teachings. "I may be crucified for this... but happily!"
Sam Bercholz is the Founder and Editor In Chief of Shambhala Publications, was an attendant, student, close friend and constant collaborator of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's for the last 17 years of his life, publishing virtually Trungpa's entire literary catalog. He co-hosted a weekly public radio show with Alan Watts (produced by an Anton Lavey devotee), and Sam personally introduced Trungpa Rinpoche to Alan Watts ("Alan was Trunpa's literary hero.") He shares the details of their first meeting, and the bombshell first impression Alan Watts made on Trungpa Rinpoche ("That was a horrible disappointment"). Sam also made the introduction between renowned Zen Master Suzuki Roshi and Trungpa Rinpoche, which became a lifelong friendship between the two most significant Buddhist teachers in North American history. Sam also grew up with Alan Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Lex Hixon, was the original mover and shaker of the spiritual boom in the Bay Area in the late 1960's and 70's. He even hosted His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (considered the living Buddha of the last 100 years) on his only visit to North America in 1976.
Sam tells mind-blowing stories of what it was like for him to be the "designated driver" for Trungpa Rinpoche's early acid tests with his students ("best job ever") and how Trungpa never appeared to be affected by the LSD or the alcohol intake. Sam shares (for the first time publicly) his feelings about the controversial offshoot Shambhala Buddhism, which he reveals was created years after Trungpa Rinpoche's death, without his personal blessing and against many of his students support. "I tried to stop Shambhala Buddhism from happening. I thought it was a mistake to create a new religion, because Trungpa Rinpoche was not into starting new religions."
Sam also shares about his relationship with legendary poet Jim Harrison, and towards the end of the podcast, fields questions from Jaymee's student Tim D'amico and his partner Lacee.

Harshada David Wagner is a spiritual teacher based on Ojai, CA, with more than 25 years of teaching experience in the wisdom traditions of Yoga, Bhakti, Vedanta, and Tantra. He's also some one who's first savior was punk rock/hardcore music, who amazingly got sober at 16 years of age in his hometown of Peoria, Illinois and was given a copy of the Ram Dass spiritual classic Be Here Now, which changed the course of Harshada's life. He spent years in study while maintaining his recovery, eventually met his guru and made his spiritual life his highest priority, spending years in study and purification practices, emerging as a spiritual teacher and author who regularly hosts retreats in India and the US, individual mentorship services, and has featured meditations on the Insight Timer app. He also had the experience of interviewing Ram Dass at his home in Maui, and shares an "off camera" story they had about psychedelics.
Jaymee and Harshada have a spirited conversation about cults, fatherhood, modern day monasticism, how to avoid the trappings of spiritual materialism, and why the bathwater could end up as valuable as the baby. The two new friends also discuss the importance of irreverent comedy, and how after decades of conventional recovery, micro-dosing psilocybin ended up assisted Harshada in evolving his emotional recovery, expanding the artist within him.

Barbara Doux is a French filmmaker who became a Wing Chun martial artist solely to become a better photographer, bungee jumped as a therapy to conquer anxiety, took two yoga teacher training's in India to overcome depression, and manifested a dream gig as an assistant photographing 3 continents in 30 days. Barbara has been searching her entire life to find her voice, she suspects developed into a recent bout with stage 4 throat (thyroid) cancer, which she was ultimately successful in treating.
Barbara accepted Jaymee's invitation to be a guest on this show solely on the strength of her belief that Jaymee could be someone to help find her voice and bring about healing. This is the first time she has shared her story publicly, which is jam packed with story after story of how to overcome adversity, create a dream life of creativity with no connections or easy ways in, and how to take calculated risks in business and in travel and stay alive.

Metsa Nihue is an internationally renowned Onaya (medicine man) and healer who specializes in traditional Amazonian lineages and plant medicines. On Saturday October 15th, 2022, on the eve of his 46th Birthday, Jaymee was inducted into the Nyingma Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism by the Venerable Lama Lhanang Rinpoche in an intimate public ceremony held at the future site of WANTS/NEEDS. At this ceremony, Jaymee took a formal Bodhisattva Vow, dedicating himself to the service of all living beings throughout this and all future lifetimes, and was given the name "Jidbe Jamso" by Lama, which in Tibetan means "Ocean Of Compassion". Jaymee was joined by a generous attendance of family, friends, and a collection of students of his from around the country, many of whom he had never met in person but had developed longterm, intimate relationships with over the pandemic via Zoom. After the Vow ceremony, Jaymee invited 4 of these students to join him for a podcast to discuss their individual journeys, and what makes the Love Is The Author community and teachings so damn special.

On September 19th, 2022, the Venerable Lama Lhanang Rinpoche, a particularly magical and important Tibetan Buddhist Lama, spent a full day in Jaymee's home in Ojai, CA. recording this podcast, performing healing ceremonies and offering longevity blessings for hours to the many dozens of attendees that day. Jaymee was honored to serve as Lama's attendee throughout the day and witnessed firsthand Lama's tireless drive to give each person who sought his wisdom quality time with him, most of which transpired from Jaymee and Lacee's bedroom. Lama barely drink water, ate nothing and needed very little rest for 10 hours straight. Jaymee's received direct teachings and blessings from Lama throughout the day, some of which are being shared with you now on this podcast.
The interview is truly a masterpiece of wild information. For starters, Lama explains what ghosts are comprised of, and the potential karmic repercussions of having emotional attachments via a 5 minute Norm Macdonald style joke. Lama dazzles Jaymee with the most comprehensive forensic analysis Jaymee had ever read (or heard) regarding the elemental process of death, and the mechanics of how each living beings momentum of karma accumulated over countless lifetimes transcends death. He does a George W. Bush impression, and gives a particularly funny answer to "Lama, what's your thoughts about psychedelics?" Lama (rolling his eyes): "Nowadays, everybody is a shaman."
At the close of the episode, Lama erupts into a deep harmonic blessing chant without warning, which will give you chills.

After Jaymee's mother, artist Victoria Roberts, had survived a horribly abusive childhood by establishing a foundational relationship with God being Love, she arrived in London in 1971 at the age of 18 and was instantly swept into the inner circle of rock legends The Who and The Faces. The first time Who drummer Keith Moon met Victoria at The Roundhouse in London in 1971, he confessed his innermost feelings of guilt over the accidental death of his driver and bodyguard Neil Boland just months before, a rare showing of vulnerability from the late rock legend. Victoria taught Ronnie Wood from the Faces (now The Rolling Stones) how to ice skate around that time, and was with The Faces when they trashed Alice Cooper's after party at the legendary Rainbow Theatre while he was still performing on stage. A year later, after listening to Stephen Stills first solo record in 1972, she simply imagined herself hanging out with him... two months later, Victoria was searching for an unlocked window at Stephen Stills Boulder, CO home to climb through, hellbent on cleaning the house, which from the outside looked trashed and partied in heavily. What'd Stephen do when he arrived home a few days later when he found her as an intruder in his home? He gave her a job for the next year as his live-in assistant/housekeeper.
Victoria's life is an exemplarily demonstration of how thought can physically manifest, and how one can radical heal themselves and others through self love and living a life of honesty. She shares her multi-layered process of healing herself from the unspeakable horrors of her youth, how an accidental psilocybin trip at 16 years old played an integral role, and how on multiple occasions in life she talked herself out of being raped by discussing her spiritual healing with each looming aggressors. Victoria's life is also a great example that you may find your artistic voice in late in the game, and how simple and beautifully sweet it it all can be.

After surviving crippling illness at birth, an emotionally disturbed violent alcoholic father in his youth, a bi-polar diagnosis at 13 that had him experimented on with every psych med and therapist on the market for nearly 20 years, Ben Pecorari at 26 years of age sought out spiritual mentorship sessions with Jaymee in the summer of 2021, keeping one secret to himself... he was going to commit suicide if Jaymee couldn't help. Raghu Markus is the Executive Director of the Love Serve Remember Foundation, co-founder of the Be Here Now Network, host of Ram Dass: Here and Now as well as his own Mindrolling podcast. He is a devotee and direct disciple of Neem Karoli Baba (Maharaji), whom Raghu lived with in India for 18 solid months alongside Ram Dass and Krishna Das in the early 1970's. Jon "Vasu" Seskevich has been a trailblazing nurse clinician and primary disciple of Ram Dass's for 50 years. After two years of obsessively reading and re-reading Be Here Now in the early 70's while hitchhiking and practicing kundalini yoga, Jon endured a difficult LSD experience and took a shot in the dark writing Ram Dass a letter to ask his advice in processing the bad trip. Much to Jon's surprise, not only did Ram Dass write him back, but his return letter set in motion a lifelong teacher/student relationship between the two that directly led to Jon creating his own revolutionary career and curriculum in compassionate nursing care at Duke University between 1990-2019. Jon is a breathtakingly genuine and humble sweetheart of a man, a record keeper of the highest order, so in love with the world and earnestly devoted to cultivating path of the expansive Heart. Robert Ryan is one of the most sought after tattoo artist's in the world, and an icon and pioneer of spiritually themed tattoo's inspired by the 19th century Kalighat tradition of Calcutta, India. Tulku Orgyen Rinpoche is a Vajra Master within the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, and Jaymee's "root guru". Born in the Hidden Land of Pemaköd, a sacred place well known to Himalayan Buddhists, Tulku Rinpoche was recognized as a reincarnate shortly after his birth by one of the most notable Tibetan Buddhist masters of the 20th century, His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, and began formal training as a toddler to fulfill the role of his incarnation. Tulku Rinpoche later founded the Odiyana Institute in Santa Barbara, a center where people can come to learn more about Tibetan Buddhist teachings. Jaymee wanted to use this opportunity to ask questions he had never heard asked of enlightened masters, such as "Have you ever been in love?", "what's the most miraculous thing you've ever seen?" and "what're your thoughts on depression, anxiety and suicide?" This episode features the unbelievable true life story of Jaymee's friend and Dharma brother Dorje Tsewang, who at the age of 21 escaped the Chinese occupation of his homeland Tibet on foot in an arduous journey through the Himalayan Mountains. Dorje, a Tibetan Buddhist in a group of 12 faced sub zero weather conditions with no shelter, empty pockets and very little food, warmed only by a burning notion of a better life existing elsewhere. After 30 days and narrowly escaping death on multiple occasions, Dorje reached the safety of Nepal and spent the next 5 years in a Tibetan Refugee camp, where he would eventually meet his wife Dolkar (an exceptional chef). Dorje shares the auspicious miracles that landed the couple as permanent residents of Ojai, CA 20 years ago, and the causes and conditions that led to opening Mandala Restaurant, a sanctuary of the Ojai Valley. Chalked full of wisdom, laughter, Buddhist concepts and practical advice for finding true happiness, Jaymee and Dorje's share simple life adjustments that can lead to awakening unconditional love for all beings. Jaymee's youngest brother Ryland Zweifel has an incredible story to tell. Surfer, survivalist, and documentarian, Ryland shares how he navigated childhood and the pain of their parents divorce, moving 10 times in his first 10 years of life, and what it felt like to constantly be the "new kid". He shares the recent realizations that came from looking back on a life living with his father in the wilderness of Big Sur with no electricity one year, and the next year living the height of modern life of Los Angeles with their mother, fully cracked out on World of Warcraft 3. These juxtapositions taught Ryland what's important life, and when tragedy struck in high school, Ryland shares honestly and vulnerably about how he found his voice and made a life changing decision that rerouted not only his fate, but the fate of many people he loves. The brothers share the arc of their relationship, and how they connected late in life through meditation and spiritual seeking. Ryland shares about the film he shot recently with his mentor, surfer and primitive skills teacher Gabriel Kelly, who decided to take a leap of faith by leaving all his possessions behind and stepping out of modern life into the great unknown, with no cell phone, wallet, food, clothing, sleeping gear, wearing nothing but a wetsuit. In 2018, Danny Kiddie had a skateboarding accident that shattered his skull, causing irreparable brain damage, paralyzing half of his face and claiming his sense of smell. The emotional trauma of the accident led Danny to a dangerous repetition of acts of self harm, and in 2020, he entered Good Heart Recovery, an addiction and mental health facility in Santa Barbara, CA Jaymee co-founded and (formerly) operated. The two began an incredible healing journey that continues to this day as mentor and mentee. On the episode, Danny shares with raw honesty not only how he healed from self-harm, but how he currently struggles with self-doubt and isolation in the wake the recent passing of his brother, who was Danny's single greatest influence in life. Danny has a poetry to his process, infusing his words with a raw, transparent vulnerability that is both endearing and exceptionally rare to experience. At one point, Jaymee asks Danny to read 2 separate text messages Danny sent Jaymee over the past year, so that Danny may have the opportunity to experience the beauty of his own words. Friend of the show Mike "One Shot" Coulter joins Jaymee for an entire episode dedicated to parsing through the supernatural qualities of The Beatles documentary "Get Back". Prior to watching the film, Mike (a former major label recording artist) was not particularly a Beatles fan and wanted to watch it more as an appreciator of documentaries, and Jaymee (former songwriter/producer) is your run of the mill Beatle superfan/historian who's biggest influence in life are The Beatles. Though the two entered into the film with separate preferences and in different mindsets, both interestingly walked away with a similar feeling, summed up perfectly in a Portuguese word Mike has tattooed on his hand: sau·da·de (noun) - a feeling of longing, melancholy, or nostalgia.
Warning: This episode shares a lot of details about the film, though nothing discussed would be technically considered a "spoiler alert". It's a discussion mostly of personal feelings experienced. The episode does share interesting Beatle facts not included in the film to add additional context to what was happening in John, Paul, George and Ringo's lives at the time the film was shot, and the backstory of how Peter Jackson became the films director.

Miguel Rivera is a traditional sweat lodge ceremony facilitator, musician, award-winning supervising sound editor for television and film (Narcos, Star Trek, Samsara), and primary mentor of Jaymee's. Miguel comes from a long line of healers and has a truly unique story to share dating back to his early upbringing in Guatemala. He was eventually adopted by Native American elders, participated in years of Sundancing and Vision Questing, and has been constructing and facilitating sweat lodge ceremonies across the United States for two decades. Artist, Surfer, and White Water Raft Guide Drew Madden is our guest on the podcast today. Drew was a fan of the Mystical Cynical podcast from it's inception, which led him to reach out to Jaymee for mentorship in May of 2021 to help him heal a broken heart and broaden his emotional intelligence bandwidth.
