For the next three episodes of the NAMES series, our hosts narrow in on one part of the Trinity - Father, Son, Holy Spirit - and discuss names specific to God in that context. They start this "series within a series" in this episode by talking through names used for God the Father. Join in the conversation as they continue to explore how His name is a sanctuary to be sought outside the sanctuary.

In the second episode of Season 7, Christina Scott and Pastor Kyle Nelson talk through a few names people chose to use for God when they were attempting to preserve the sacred name of YHWH.

All of these names were used out of reverence, but with people in the mix, there's always an opportunity for corruption and mistakes.

Join the conversation as our hosts talk through the names of God found in the scriptures. The goal of this series is to know God's character and what He reveals about Himself through His names. God's patience with humanity is evident in His name!

FBS tries something different for this new "series" and your hosts, Pastor Kyle Nelson and Christina Scott, enter the long-form podcast.

In view of Easter season ahead, they talk through many of the details and highlights of Jesus' life. They discover some of the beautiful ways He retraced steps of the nation of Israel, fulfilled prophecy hidden in the hearts of Israel, and showed Himself the fulfillment of what God had been foreshadowing for generations.

This long conversation strings together just a few ways Jesus' life intersected with places of significance in the Old Testament. This isn't just an OT/NT comparison chat! It is a fun "wow-moment" conversation on the complexity of an all-knowing, deeply loving Savior.

We hope it is a reaffirmation of the intentionality of our God and His intricate plan for the redemption of humanity.

This final episode of the "Out of Context" series tackles two very different misquotes/misuse of scripture. Our hosts first talk about the idea that "Money is the root of all evil." That sounds familiar, right? I'm pretty sure the Bible says that... or does it?

Then, they transition to another biblical reference that gets shortened all the time - "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Well, if we can't judge, then how can we correct wrong behavior? Who are the judges and juries?

Listen in and share with a friend. We hope this sparks some conversations that take you Monday through Saturday.

The word of God is true, and it should be quoted often. But what happens when we select one sentence from the middle of a passage and quote it out of context? We can do harm to our own understanding and to others' walk when we misuse scripture or cherry-pick just what we like.

This installment of Fathom Beyond Sunday is about two different verses that have a beautiful message. Unfortunately, they also often get truncated and quoted without context. Listen in as Pastor Kyle Nelson and Christina Scott talk through Romans 8:28 and Jeremiah 29:11.

In this episode, our FBS hosts dive in on one saying, "God helps those who help themselves." and one verse - "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13)

These two ideas are misused in similar ways and are frequently quoted - both in and out of the Church.

Jump in with Pastor Kyle and Christina as they dissect the ideas behind the use of these sayings and the original context of their writers.

In this first episode of the new "Out of Context" series, Christina and Pastor Kyle talk through two common statements taken out of context and attributed to the Bible: "God just wants me to be happy." and "God is love."

Is God a Genie-like character that is waiting around to make us happy? Is the God of the Old Testament new and improved in the gospels? God is love, so does that mean He's no longer judge?

Welcome back, FBS listeners! We have made it to the final worldview in our Jesus Is Better season. Pastor Kyle takes us into the idea of Moralistic Therapeutic Deism.

Maybe you've never heard that title, but you definitely know these people. Everywhere we turn in the current culture is the idea that "individuality is king" and "living your truth" brings freedom. There's a wide scope of beliefs and only one boundary.

Listen in as our hosts discuss the benefits and harms of this worldview and ultimately why Jesus is better.

This season our hosts, Lead Pastor Kyle Nelson and Next Steps Director Christina Scott, are taking us through an overview of a few philosophies and world religions and discussing why Jesus is better.

Fathom Beyond Sunday is back with a deep dive on some American religions you may be familiar with. This week Christina Scott has done some research into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Jehovah's Witnesses.

These religions both state publicly that they are Christian and their converts all claim a Christian way of life, however their published doctrines and theology divert from orthodox Christianity in various ways.

Listen in as our hosts try to understand some of the nuances of these American religions and where we can find common ground as we seek to better understand our neighbors.

This season our hosts, Lead Pastor Kyle Nelson and Next Steps Director Christina Scott, are taking us through an overview of a few philosophies and world religions and discussing why Jesus is better.

Fathom Beyond Sunday is tackling Hinduism this week and it is BIG. Hinduism is likely the world's oldest religion but doesn't consider itself a religion at all! Listen in as Pastor Kyle guides us through an overview of this polytheistic way of life. There's a diverse mix of ideas and practices from people who claim to be Hindu - this could easily have been a 2-hour podcast. But our hosts try to narrow the scope and answer the same questions each week: what do they believe about God, humanity, and eternity?

Listen in as we get an education on this major world religion and a brief overview of its main offshoot - Buddhism. Jesus is Better has made it to mid-season - join the conservation!

This season our hosts, Lead Pastor Kyle Nelson and Next Steps Director Christina Scott, are taking us through an overview of a few philosophies and world religions and discussing why Jesus is better.

Then join our hosts as they are reminded of the rich truth of Christianity and ultimately why Jesus is better.

Jesus was born the Lion of Judah, so what's so different between Jews and Christians?

Welcome back to our Fathom Beyond Sunday listeners! Season 5 is here and we have a new 8 part series for you, "Jesus Is Better."

This season our hosts, Lead Pastor Kyle Nelson and Next Steps Director Christina Scott, are taking us through an overview of a few philosophies and world religions and discussing why... you guessed it... Jesus is better.

We hope you'll listen in on this intro podcast to hear what this season will sound like, feel like, and just as importantly - what you won't hear from your hosts this go-round. While these podcasts won't be exhaustive or explain every facet of the selected world religions, they will use a relational apologetic approach to consider why Christianity not only stands up to the others, but ultimately is best because Jesus is best. On the final episode of Season 4 Delighting in the Disciplines, Pastor Kyle Nelson & Christina Scott dive deep into the most familiar spiritual discipline of engagement: Prayer. Prayer is what makes all of the other habits spiritual, so this episode is a bit longer as they recap bits of their conversations throughout the season and build on the simple directive in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - "pray continually." Buckle up for this extended cut episode and thanks for joining Fathom Beyond Sunday this season. We will be back in September with a new season and new topics!

This Delighting in the Disciplines series is a new format for Fathom Beyond Sunday. Start at the beginning and listen through or pick up in the middle with a particular practice you're wrestling with. Whichever way you utilize it, let these conversations be an encouragement to you as you walk out your calling Monday through Saturday and not just on Sunday.

In Season 4 of the Fathom Beyond Sunday podcast, Kyle Nelson, Lead Pastor at Fathom Church, is joined by Next Steps Director, Christina Scott. Here they spend time talking about some of the thoughts and lessons from our Sunday Sermon and go a little deeper. They have made space to have really thoughtful conversations about how we might transfer those ideas into actions, and how we can apply biblical wisdom to our day to day lives.

Join our hosts, an introvert and an extrovert,  for a deep conversation about what it means to be part of community in fellowship. That dynamic relationship where giving and receiving is supernaturally natural is called koinonia. Koinonia fellowship is a regularly used phrase at Fathom Church over the last few years. Listen in as Pastor Kyle Nelson and Christina Scott delight in the next discipline of engagement, fellowship.

In this Delighting in the Disciplines series, FBS is taking time to give special attention and practical application to the spiritual disciplines. The hope is that we all continue to deepen and strengthen our relationship with God through these habits that form us and our lives. Christina and Pastor Kyle are back this week with our first discipline of letting go - solitude. We know that this sounds like a vacation to some and a nightmare to others! The practice of solitude is something we find Jesus often turning to as He tunes his ear to the Father's voice. As we model our lives after Jesus' example we can start in small ways by making incremental changes to how we think about solitude. Tune in as the introvert and extrovert talk it out and find common ground in Jesus.

This week Pastors Jaci and Kyle talk about cyclical sin and tangible ways to break out of those cycles.

*Sidenote: Due to some unfortunate technological glitches (whomp whomp), a portion of their intro to this topic was garbled and had to be edited out around the 3 minute mark. It's still great content we know you'll benefit from, we apologize for the blip, and we're happy to report that we've gotten some new equipment and that hopefully this won't happen again.
