Sometimes you’re the one that’s inconvenienced, and sometimes you’re the one that inconveniences others. All in all, it’s hard to be a fellow human. We believe that you should look out for one another even in the simplest of ways. But it’s the hardest when you’re on the receiving end of selfishness. It’s all over social media. The expectation to grind at all cost and sacrifice your life to your work. In this episode we dig deep on acknowledging when you need to take time for yourself. We both tend to feel guilty for taking time off, and we explore where that pressure to keep pushing is rooted. Don’t be one of those “toxic productivity bros” on Instagram/TikTok.

We love talking about technology and how it's going to work in our everyday lives. Jake gives some insight to how he manages his time at work, and the conversation eventually turns to hypothetical (or not so hypothetical) space travel. Would you go live on a space station for a year if you were chosen to do so? What if you could take one person? (Jake would take Tyler...right?)

The last couple of years feel like one long one, that's for sure. Another certainty is that with the New Year comes new hopes and desires. We tend to not make resolutions, but rather apply more quiet dedication to the plates we already have spinning. We might even pick up something new along the way. We tend to find that "resolutions" are dropped off not too long after they begin. Maybe we could be present and do the best we can every day instead.

We are ready for the comment section.

Birthdays can be bittersweet. It's a day to be celebrated or to celebrate someone else. But what about the knee pain? What about the gray hairs? We want you to know, that the fine folks at Similar Vein podcast think age should be revered. In this episode, Jake struggles with being the center of attention as we talk about our favorite birthday traditions and how we sometimes fall short as we try to make important people in our lives feel celebrated. Whatever we disagree on, we do agree that a "birthday week" is more appropriate than a single day. Which has been your favorite birthday experience? Are you looking forward to it each year?

Some of us (definitely Tyler) can't remember the last time they went and have an emotional crisis every time it's due. Which one are you? It's okay to be afraid.
