David is a Chartered M&E Services Engineer, with specialist areas of expertise including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). He has considerable experience of working on projects spanning the institutional, industrial and commercial sectors, both in the UK and overseas. He provides advice to parties involved in disputes, assessing the technical merits of potential/actual claims and preparing expert evidence/advice. Mr Rollason has extensive experience of contractual disputes and of advising clients on the duties of parties involved in the design, installation and inspection of mechanical and electrical works. He has acted as single party independent expert for claimants and defendants, and as single joint expert. He has provided expert advice on matters that are the subject of litigation, mediation, arbitration and adjudication, has participated in mediations and given evidence in civil and criminal Courts and during arbitration and adjudication hearings. Cases have involved major firms of contractors and consulting engineers and relate to disputes within the UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands, Gibraltar, Cayman Islands, Middle East, Hong Kong, Thailand and Africa. He has also acted as technical expert for expert determination.
For our fourth episode Dan is joined by Jeremy Glover, Partner at Fenwick Elliott LLP and discuss, among other things, archaeology, techno music and hot tubbing. Jeremy has specialised in construction energy and engineering law and related matters for most of his career. He advises on all aspects of projects both at home and abroad, from initial procurement and strategic project advice to dispute avoidance and resolution. He acts across a wide range of construction sectors in the UK and internationally, including general construction, transport, communications, process plant, oil, gas, nuclear and renewables. Recommended in the area of International Arbitration in Chambers and Partners UK and The Legal 500 UK, Jeremy is described as “extremely committed and hard-working”, he “has great attention to detail and can always see the bigger picture, and he keeps really calm under pressure”. Jeremy is listed as a leader in his field in Who’s Who Legal: Construction 2019. Jeremy also has extensive experience of all principal main contracts including JCT, ICE, FIDIC, NEC, GC/Works, I CHEM E, subcontracts including DOM/1 and DOM/2, and numerous bespoke forms used in international and domestic construction, energy and infrastructure projects. He has particular expertise in advising clients on international projects, often under the FIDIC form. He assists and represents clients at dispute board hearings as well as in international arbitrations under ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc rules. In the UK, he is also an accredited adjudicator and regularly advises on both the conduct of adjudication and the enforcement of adjudicators’ decisions.
Dan is joined by Wendy MacLaughlin who is a senior partner at GB², at the time of the recording Wendy was in Australia but is based in GB²'s London office. Wendy is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. She has over 25 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, specifically on major projects in the power sector during her time with Arup, in both site based roles and project office roles. Her years working as a consulting civil engineer provides her with a sound basis for her primary role as a programming and delay expert. Wendy specialises in delay analysis and is known for her pragmatic and proportionate approach to her analyses, and her keen eye for detail. She has undertaken analyses on major projects around the world in most sectors. These include power stations in South East Asia, MENA, South America and Europe; oil and gas projects in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Vietnam, South Africa, and Australia; rail systems (heavy rail, light rail, rapid transit), roads and highways projects in the UK, Romania, East Africa, Middle East and Australia; large scale mining projects in Australia and renewable energy projects. She was cited in Who’s Who Legal: Construction 2016 as an “intellectually rigorous authority”, in 2017 as “able to explain the complexities of her analysis to lay people in an accessible and persuasive manner, and everything you would expect of an expert”, and in 2018 as “awesome on the delay side” and a “delay superstar”. In 2019 she was recognised by her peers in Who’s Who Legal as Construction Expert Witness of the Year.

Aquila Forensics Director, Daniel Miles is joined for our inaugural podcast by David Richards who has over 40 years' experience as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and over 20 years' experience as a Chartered Arbitrator. He has been a member of Council of the Society of Construction Law and is a past chairman of the (UK) Southern Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. David is widely experienced in UK and international engineering and construction claim and dispute resolution. He has been appointed as arbitrator on approximately seventy occasions and adjudicator on thirty-five occasions and has, on many occasions, given expert opinion evidence in the area of delay and disruption assessment and cost evaluation, his main area of occupation. He has also been appointed member of Dispute Resolution Boards and has undertaken expert determinations.
