With the new year ahead we're MillenniYelling today about what’s in store for America’s largest generation in the coming year in trends. Millennials have been getting some heat from Gen Z on how we style our hair, to fashion trends, to how we travel, and even a lot more heat about our lifestyles and differences in parenting, and work ethic to name a few from our Boomer parents. Here are the top millennial trends we’ll see in 2023.

First, live show of the new year! Welcome, 2023, and our special guest Jordan McCauley. A lifelong native of the Hershey/Harrisburg area, Jordan currently resides in the Rutherford neighborhood with his wife Megan and 5-year-old daughter Isla. A large portion of Jordan’s life has been spent in some mode or blend of performance. This ranges from being a standout member of his high school choir, featured in starring roles in local theatre in the early 2000s, being the frontman of a successful local rock band in the mid-2000s, and now - for the past 10 years - conducting instructor-led software training across multiple industries. Circumstances have even come full circle for Mr. McCauley as he finds himself fronting yet another local musical act (namely ‘Saint Eldred’) with his slightly older but far more attractive and charming cousin Josh Herb. When Jordan doesn’t find himself in front of a doting crowd, he loves, almost more than anything, spending time outdoors working with his wife doing what he affectionately calls “yardening” - a combination of landscaping and gardening. Other hobbies include firearms training, reading military-based fiction novels, and combining his love of sound and spirits by drinking whiskey while listening to his favorite vinyl records.

Join Mel and our special guest, Krissy Cressler from last Friday's podcast to kick off the first week of Mel's "Monday Mindful." We'll be sharing stories, journies, struggles, tips, podcasts, books, and all things that will help us all to move out of our discomfort and reach our potential in life. What Is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be present, aware of where we are and what we are doing, and not excessively reactive or overwhelmed by what is going on around us. Mindfulness can be described as “moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness, cultivated by paying attention in a specific way, that is, in the present moment, and as non-reactively, as non-judgmentally, and as openheartedly as possible." When it is cultivated intentionally, it is referred to as deliberate mindfulness. When it spontaneously arises, it is referred to as effortless mindfulness.

The student loan forgiveness plan announced this week will be a hot topic amongst Millennials all over and there are many opinions good and bad.

Most of Generation Y have been paying or already paid off students loans over the last 15 years. Some never took them out at all and paid for their education outright, or their parents did. Has this been a deterrent for buying houses and starting families due to our student loan debt?

Helpful to some, hurtful to others? Benefit or reward? What will this do to the future generations to be financially irresponsible?

From careers to divorce, to dieting. Making significant lifestyle changes and big decisions in life can be scary, but what is scarier is wasting more time in unhealthy situations or continuing things you will regret later down the road.

The biggest decisions impact not just you but those around you. Getting married, getting divorced, and having a child all affect loved ones and many struggle to decide what is best not just for ourselves but those around us. It’s these kinds of decisions that we should reflect on the most.

A “big” decision is one in which you intentionally made a choice between two or more options knowing that the outcome would have a significant and often long-term impact for yourself or others.

Let's MillenniYell with Billy and Mel and share YOUR biggest life decisions!

“When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this – you haven’t.”

Thomas Edison (American inventor and businessman)

It's important for us all to understand:

*Knowing how and when to ASK for advice.

*Knowing WHO to take advice from and LISTEN.

*Knowing when to take advice and when to ignore it.

(Even when you don't ASK for it!)

*Knowing that WE ALL NEED TO TAKE ADVICE.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed by feedback, but it's MORE important to be able to take the advice given. In Business, Relationships, Friendships, Leadership, and MORE, being able to LISTEN to those giving advice to help is important. We get it, some people give poor advice or shouldn't be giving any at all!

But, there are many people who have WAY more experience than us, and it's how will we grow and be greater than we are by listening and learning from others' perspectives and experiences.

Sometimes, the more we know about some things, the more we assume we know about everything. WE DON'T! Hop on LIVE with Billy and Mel Friday at 12pm to discuss how it's helped us to take advice, even when it hurts our egos!

Billy and Mel are excited to #MillenniYell with Kelly and Rob Ruth after their phenomenal experience at the 2021 10X Growth Con in Miami last weekend. If you watched the podcast Saturday, you only got a glimpse and hopefully, it inspired some of you to want more. Do more. Dream more. And TAKE ACTION.

The speakers are inspiring, the networking is motivating, and the experience is truly life-changing. Although Mel didn't get to the Diamond Yacht Party with Fat Joe and LIV nightclub to see 50 Cent, Rob and Kelly DID, and we can't wait to hear all about their experience when they levelled up, which Mel is now determined to do.

What does 10X mean to you?

Have you read The 10X Rule or heard about Grand Cardone's mission to help people improve their life, business, marriage, finances, and everything they strive to do and to stop being average. When you change your mindset to be a DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY to succeed for your family, employees, community, and self, you will change your plan of action.

Achieve "Massive Action" results and accomplish your business dreams! While most people operate with only three degrees of action-no action, retreat, or normal action-if you're after big goals, you don't want to settle for the ordinary.

See you Fridays at 12!

“Rarely can a response make something better, what makes something better is connection.” – Brené Brown

Who is ready for our episode of “MillenniYell After Dark” … AKA we are really busy today! Join Billy and Mel at 6 pm today to talk about something we empaths can have difficulty with: people with little or no empathy.

Empathy is feeling WITH people. We talked last week about healthy relationships and that communication and honesty were key factors, and so is empathy.

What’s the difference between empathy and sympathy? Basically, emotion.

Some say that our survival and success depend critically on our ability to thrive in complex social situations, and actions done by other, their intentions, and their emotions can be felt through empathy. At home, with friends, and at the workplace, it becomes more difficult to repair conflicts, work collaboratively, or solve problems when we don't practice empathy.

We’ll also touch on mirror neurons that Mel just learned about this week.

Hop on at 6 pm and MillenniYELL with us about putting our self in someone else’s shoes!

We have talked about Millennials getting hated on by Boomers for stereotypical negative habits and lifestyles (aka having a different upbringing than you) but now there's fake generational warfare going on because of TikTok (I mean enough said) with the generation BELOW us, Gen Z, for what we wear.

While in reality, we are also resilient and busy working on our goals, not paying that much mind, however, it has taken social media by storm and it's Friday so Billy and Mel need a topic to #MillenniYell about!

"It's fun to tease older people when you’re young, because pretty much your only power over them is cultural, and people hate feeling old and uncool." Like many Millennial's favorite Mariah Carey, we are asking "Why are you are so obsessed with me?" and will get down to some deeper conversation about other generations.

There are literally so many mean things you can say about Gen Z, but we're busy building an empire.... and watering all our indoor plants

Millennial entrepreneurs and those looking to become one.... this podcast is for you! An entrepreneur is an individual who creates a new business, bearing most of the risks and enjoying most of the rewards. The road to entrepreneurship is often a treacherous one filled with unexpected detours, roadblocks and dead ends, lots of sleepless nights, plans that don't work out, funding that doesn't come through, and customers that never materialize. BUT the rewards can be greater than any corporate job, as well as the flexibility to be your own boss!

The entrepreneur is commonly seen as an innovator, a source of new ideas, goods, services, and business/or procedures. Despite the hardships, every year, thousands of entrepreneurs embark on this journey determined to bring their vision to fruition and fill a need they see in society, even in 2020 during a pandemic!

Mel was featured in the 2011 Central Penn Business Journal's Young Entrepreneur Article and this ACTUALLY did happen years later as many of your know with her shop in Linglestown. “My 3-5 year goal is to have a small shop where I will sell my retail cards and invitations, as well as many other unique and handmade items,” she said. “The shop also (will) have an open small studio in the back or a loft that I can meet with brides and clients and work on-site as well.”

Today, Billy and Mel are going to YELL about their own process of designing, launching, and running a new business, the ups and downs, what's happened along the way, and some tips!

Billy and Mel are both huge music fans - Mel especially with live music - and believes that each memory has a soundtrack of it's own.... or is it that the soundtrack has the memory that comes along with it?

As Millennials, we sure grew up listening to a wide variety of music in the 90's and 2000's. Mel's a huge fan of 80's and Classic Rock - and even 90's and 2000's R&B like Billy, too! The 2nd time they met, Billy's playlist surprised Mel with JaRule and Ashanti! Mel even grew up listening to (the real) oldies in the car with her mom and sister.

The 90's included chart-topping hits from R&B heavyweights Boyz II Men and En Vogue, grunge rock bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, and pop legends such as the Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls and we're going to #MillenniYell all about it! We want to hear YOUR favorites and memories about concerts and the music that fueled your soul growing up!

Just remember, if you want to be happy you must be willing to dance to the beat of your own drum!

“You don’t overcome challenges by making them smaller but by making yourself bigger.” – John C. Maxwell

When it comes to getting results, it takes motivation and ability. Motivation makes things happen. Where there’s no will, there’s no way. One of the best ways to improve your personal effectiveness is to master your motivation and find your drive.

Hartman Personality Profile, sometimes known as "The People Code", created by Dr. Taylor Hartman, divides personalities into four colors: Red (motivated by power) Blue (motivated by intimacy) White (motivated by peace) Yellow (motivated by fun).

Although different groups of people have different demographics, the general breakdown suggests: Reds comprise 25% of the population Blues 35% Whites 20% and Yellows 20%.

We all know that Money can sure buy lots of things, but there are some things money can’t buy. Billy knows this all too well being in the Financial industry, but knowing what's more important than Money is key.

Benjamin Franklin once said the following: “Money has never made man happy, nor will it; there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has the more one wants.” How do YOU feel about the importance of Money?

Mel's journey over the last several years includes LOTS of emotions about money. To feel happy and secure we need to have enough money to cover our basic needs and not having to worry to have enough money to put food on the table, or being able to pay medical bills or emergency car repairs.

But what else can it give you? And can't? Let's YELL about how it can't truly make us happy, when we are not for other reasons and why.

We've all heard the Beatles song.... "Money Can't buy me love" and for us winos - "Money can't buy happiness, but it buy wine and that's almost the same thing" but all jokes aside, join us for some money #MillenniYelling LIVE!

As Millennials, self-doubt can be the ultimate sabotage to ourselves and leads us then to procrastinating, criticizing ourselves, and fear behind not taking chances we should. It also leads to comparing ourselves to others (which we just #MillenniYelled about last week) ending in frustration and tears.

We all do it - whether due to comparing, fear, low self-esteem, or other reasons.

Our parents always told us we are SPECIAL and can do anything and everything we set our minds on. As we got older, our views of ‘success’ and ‘making it’ start to change (with responsibilities and #adulting) and we realize the world doesn’t owe us anything even if we do our best.

Billy and Mel are #MillenniYelling about the thought that learning to TRUST OURSELVES is a better solution than trying to completely rid self-doubt (which is human nature) and refocus our mindsets away from self-doubt, and how it can still be a great catalyst for change by learning how to focus on that doubt.

SSHHH - Don't talk about it - Divorce. The dirty word we can't say. Shhh - the failed marriage and stigmas that come along with Millennials marriages not panning out to be what we thought, hoped, or expected.

While many Millennials are waiting later to get married and concentrating on careers and finding their person, some ARE going through or have been Divorced. There are many reasons marriage does not last, and after different time frames.

Mel got divorced 4 years ago, and recently her friend Sam did too, and they are here to #MillenniYell to say that's it is OK!

OK to acknowledge that our marriages weren't (or aren't) working. OK to admit maybe you weren't ready. OK to face our fears to start the conversation. OK to be alone and wait until we are in a better place to date. OK to start searching for love again when we are ready.

We all WILL come out of this OK and the courage and bravery that it takes to recognize and move forward will make and shape us into better people.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. We are here, like many others for comfort, motivation, and care. Grab your wine and let's YELL together.

Welcome to another episode of MillenniYell with Billy and Mel! One of the biggest enemies that we will have in our lives is ourselves. We will be our biggest doubters, critics, and naysayers.

However, there is one thing we all do that stops us in our tracks. We are always comparing us to everyone else, Millennials do it more than any other generation! Whether what kind of house we live in, what kind of job we have, what kind of clothes we wear, or even what we look like.

We compare ourselves to everything and everyone and it can leave your feeling like you don't even matter, and lead to anxiety and depression.

So it's simple - today - stop comparing yourself to everyone. BE CONTENT WITH WHERE YOU ARE. It's not a race, it's a marathon and ourselves from yesterday are the only ones we are up against.

At the end of the day, people will like you because of who you are. Not who you are trying to be.

PS: We apologize for the first couple seconds of feedback. Mel was muted which is a tech issue and we'll be writing a letter - Love, Karen

We used to see it mostly with politics, but today it seems everywhere about anything and everything, and it’s not getting our country and local community any better, rather making it worse, so Mel’s starting to uncheck and unfollow!
