Welcome to the new mini series! I'll be giving you bite-sized info you can use to help achieve your goals... personal or professional. This week I'm talking about the importance of examining what you consume... not only when it comes to actually consuming something (aka food!), but what content you're seeing on social media, what music you're listening to and who's energy you're around. This can all have an impact on your mentality and general well-being, so it's important we take a critical look and let go of anything that's not serving us.

Gen Nows, what the heck is up? We're back together again on this fine Thursday to talk about mood boards. But what does any of it actually mean and does it actually work? Well, it all comes down to visualization and, essentially, yes it really will help you achieve your goals.

I provide evidence - both research-based and anecdotal - about why visualization works and how mood boards help you visualize, as well as give you some tips to get started. All my research is down below if you want to do some fact-checking yourself!

Happy Thursday, Gen Nows - I’m beyond excited to be in your earholes once again! This week, drum-roll please, Dr. Ashley Margeson gives us ALL the details about how working with your hormones can increase your productivity and decrease burnout.

She gave so many mind-blowing facts that all women should know so we can work with our bodies instead of against them. Like, did you know there are certain times in our cycle where we can work 10-11 hour days and be productive the whole time and other times where we should take it easy? So helpful to know, right?!

Dr. Ashley and her partner designed the Burnout Blueprint course to help you put all of this knowledge into action and bio-hack your way to your best life (which you know is what Generation Now is all about!). And they were also so generous to give us a coupon code:

  • Visit www.burnoutblueprint.com and use the code GenNow2021 at checkout to get 40% off the course.

Of course, I chatted a bit about books at the beginning! I’m currently reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. DM me and tell me what you’re reading! Also, you heard it here first... I'm starting a book club and would love for you to join. Head on over to @probablyreadingnow on Instagram to check it out!

Happy m'fcking Thursday, my loves! This week we're chatting with Meghan, a body image coach, who helps people gain a positive outlook on their body image and emphasizes the importance of ditching diet culture. She shares her story about how she had an unhealthy relationship with her body and food and how she started to heal those relationships, as well as important messages about body positivity (cough, cough - you shouldn't feel pressure to look a certain way or work out 24/7). As always, please do your own research and consult your own experts when it comes to diet and lifestyle changes - there's no one-size-fits-all approach!

In the beginning, I talk about some of my current reads and past faves (when am I not talking about books?). Here are the details:

  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab (so beautifully written!)
  • House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas (a little complex so far - but I'm getting into it!)

It's Thursday, aka the best day of the week! This week Sara and I discuss how she started working in social media, how to get the most out of your internship, how she advanced in her career and how she sets boundaries with social media consumption.

I also talked about the song that's taking over the internet - drivers license (does anyone else have a hard time spelling license?). I'm absolutely obsessed, not only with this song, but the vibes of my January 2021 playlist. So here are a few musical things of mine you may want to check out:

  • My January 2021 playlist on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/user/roglaur

Happy Thursday, Gen Nows! Okay, I don't know about you - but transitions stress me out. Actually, any sort of change is pretty much enough for me to put my headphones in and pretend to escape this world. Yes, I'm dramatic, but I digress. I find that having insight into changes or hearing about transitions from people who have done it before me to be super helpful - so let me be that for you this week. I'm talking about my transition out of post-secondary school and into the 'real world'. I'm talking about some of the ways I found out what exactly in my field I liked, how I dealt with burnout and learning to enjoy the journey versus always focusing on the destination. I hope you enjoy this little look into life after your degree/diploma and I'm always around to answer any questions you may have!

Books I talked about in the beginning:

  • From Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout
  • Chasing Lucky by Jen Bennett

Happy Thursday Gen Nows. As you know, Thursday is my favourite day of the week - and today is absolutely no exception. Julia and Val are here to tell us about how they started their communications agency - Crafted Communications - how teamwork is their dream work, how to balance your personal and work life to avoid burnout and what they do every day that sets them up for success. It was truly an inspirational conversation that left me feeling inspired and motivated, but in such a gentle way - opposed to the 'if you don't work 24/7 you're lazy' type of way that I think is far too overhyped these days.

About Crafted CommunicationsAt Crafted Communications, Julia and Val use their 12 years of combined communications experience to write marketing content that converts customers. Using empathy, storytelling and SEO research, Julia and Val love writing words that attract great people to great brands.

Happy Thursday Gen Nows! This week I want to break out of the curated social media mold and let you know what's really been going on. Some sh*t has gone down this past week - from car troubles to realizing maybe my mind doesn't work like other people's. I always try to find a silver lining and pass that along to you, which I think I managed to do pretty well in this week's episode! I also did a mini Q&A at the end, so stick around to learn about why I started the podcast, what books I'm currently reading and my tips for setting personal boundaries. Y'all - how did this even happen?! This week I sat down with Bailey Stanworth, founder of the digital marketing agency PLAY Digital and 1/2 of the What Day Is It? Podcast (aka one of my favourite podcasts). We chatted all things digital - including Bailey's thoughts on "saturation" in the social media space - as well as why she and her co-host Jacci started What Day Is It? We also talked about her journey with starting PLAY, how she maintains a work-life balance and where she's excited to travel (once we're able to safely do so of course). Once you're done the episode, join the #generationnow community by following @generationnowpodcast on Instagram or @generationnowpodcast on Pinterest. We're back folks - happy Thursday! In this week's episode, I reminisce about some of the places I've travelled and definitely got in my feels a few times. It was so fun to reflect on the amazing experiences I've had and the impact that they have had on me. It also got me really excited about future travel plans and all the places I want to see. Talking about this got me super inspired, brought back some beautiful memories and reassured me that the universe knows what it's doing. As promised - I get real about what it's like living alone during a pandemic. I say this in the episode, but I truly don't want to come off as saying any of these realities are "good" or "bad" - they just are, and I hope some of what I say in this episode has a positive impact on whoever is listening. I also refer to the episodes I did with Ashley (@plantlythriving on Instagram) a few times during the episode and if you want to listen to those, she is on episodes 10 and 11. The platform that everyone resisted for the longest time, but now can't get enough of - myself included. This week I decided to do the podcast riding solo (get it? Do you need to up your graphic design game?
