Welcome to my podcast for keeping it real (estate) with all things Commercial Real Estate!
This industry and my career in Commercial Real Estate has given me an incredible amount of fulfillment. This is my way of paying it forward by putting out relevant content and creating industry awareness through honest conversations with remarkable industry professionals.
Diversity! This industry, like many others, has not succeeded in diversifying its media presence (among other things). The necessity to include varied perspectives in business is only growing in demand and functionality. Being both a woman and a woman of color is a critical part of my story. While it is not the focus of my podcast, it is equally important for me to show and be that presence.
My background is in Property and Asset Management, but we will be exploring a wide range of topics, including segments such as “What’s up your Asset?!”
It certainly helps to be in an industry with an abundant supply of extraordinary people!
In this episode, I speak with with my guests about attracting new talent to the commercial real estate industry. Up until now, this industry has not done a great job of recruiting younger generations. First, Warren explains the journey that led him to his 18 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Then, Jose gives his perspective as a current college student. Later, the three of us discuss job interviews, networking events, and much more!
Warren Mead is a seasoned real estate executive bringing plenty of experience in the areas of property management (office/retail/mixed use), sales, construction management, acquisitions, financial reporting & budgeting, staffing, and leasing. Mr. Mead is a strategic and creative thinker with strong technical and business skills. He demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively across corporate functions and at all company levels.
Jose’s motivation is financial. He likes to work, move around, and do things. Since 2014, Jose’s dad has owned a restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico. Helping his dad find a property was Jose’s first experience with real estate at the age of 11. These days, property management keeps him busy. Additionally, Jose holds a degree in finance which allows him to bring an abundance of valuable knowledge to the role. Jose shares his thoughts on Generation Z now graduating college and what he has learned from a tenant’s point of view.
