What does it mean to be more than attenders and become a truly connected church? In this message from the Connected series, Pastor Trey Hildebrant explores Acts 2:36-47 and the birth of the early church, where lives were transformed by the grace of Jesus, people were united in authentic community, and believers were sent out to impact others. Discover why church is more than something we consume, how genuine relationships strengthen our faith, and why we are stronger together than on our own. As the first believers devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, generosity, prayer, and sharing the good news, they modeled the kind of connection God still desires for His people today. This message challenges us to move beyond spectatorship, embrace our role in the church family, and live on mission so that one more person can experience the hope and new life found in Jesus.(08/02/2026)

What does it really mean to worship, and are we truly showing up ready to engage? In this message, Pastor Danny de Armas walks through John 4:23-24 and challenges us to move beyond passive attendance into active, heartfelt worship that places God at the center of our lives. Worship is not just singing on a Sunday, it is expressed through our work, relationships, choices, generosity, and the way we live every day. For centuries, people simply observed worship, and today many have drifted back into that same mindset, becoming spectators instead of participants. This message calls us to reclaim our role, to come prepared with expectation, and to worship in both spirit and truth with sincerity and purpose. When we truly worship God, it not only honors Him but also transforms us, igniting a renewed passion that carries into every part of life.(07/19/2026)

This message also helps you understand how your past shapes the way you relate today and how following Jesus reshapes your identity and your connections with others. What would it look like to live with intention every day, not just heading to your destination but noticing the people around you? In this message, Pastor Matthew Robinson explores Luke 15 and the powerful words “suppose one of you,” challenging us to take personal ownership of how we live out our faith. Through a relatable story about driving in England and the idea of a constant pull that distracts us, this message invites us to refocus on what matters most by asking two simple questions, what is God saying to me and what am I going to do about it. You will discover how to recognize the faces, places, and moments of peace already in your life and how small steps of connection can lead to real impact. This message will encourage you to move beyond comfort, invest in meaningful relationships, and see how one conversation can make a difference.(07/05/2026)

What happens when ordinary people come together around God’s mission? In this message from The Great Commission, David Branch unpacks Matthew 28:16-20 to show how Jesus invites imperfect, everyday people into a purpose far bigger than themselves. From feelings of doubt and uncertainty to discovering joy and direction, this message reminds us that the only requirement to be used by God is simple availability. You will see how Jesus’ authority, clear purpose, and constant presence free us from pressure and call us into faithful obedience right where we are. Be encouraged that you do not need to have it all together to make a difference and discover how your everyday life can become part of something that changes lives, families, and communities.(06/28/2026)

In Part 6 of “Living and Giving the Gospel,” Matt Heard concludes his series by taking a deeper look at the beauty of not only sitting at the Gospel table with Jesus (living the Gospel), but also the privilege we have of inviting others to join us (giving the Gospel). Using the contrasting metaphors of a vending machine versus a dinner table, he encourages us to move from a transactional mindset when approaching God to a relational one, which shifts us from merely practicing religiosity to vibrantly pursuing a relationship with God. That, in turn, moves us from just urging people to adopt our religious practices to inviting them to join us as we pursue intimacy with Jesus and feast on the Good News at the Gospel table together. The very familiar verse of John 3:16 reveals four realities we must embrace for that to happen: the Love of God, the Son of God, Belief in God, and the Life of God.(06/21/2026)

What does it mean to truly live instead of simply getting by? In this powerful message, we explore Ecclesiastes 9 and John 10 to discover that life is a gift meant to be enjoyed, embraced, and lived with purpose. Through honest stories and relatable moments, we are challenged to stop waiting for a better future and start being present in the life we have right now. You will be encouraged to make the most of every day, decision, and detour, recognizing that even small moments can shape a lasting legacy. At the center of it all is the invitation to find real life by following Jesus and letting go of what is holding you back. Whether you feel stuck, disconnected, or just ready for something more, this message will help you rediscover joy, live with intention, and step into a life that truly matters.(06/14/2026)

What kind of portrait is your life creating? This message from Pastor Jarian Felton teaches that every choice, word, and priority in our lives adds a new brushstroke to the story others see in us. Walking through Proverbs 11, we discover three powerful contrasts that shape a life of true wisdom: choosing humility over pride, trusting God over false security, and building others up instead of tearing them down. In a world focused on filters and appearances, this message calls us back to something authentic and lasting by anchoring our lives in God’s truth. As you listen, you will be challenged to reflect on what your life is showing and encouraged to look to Jesus, the perfect example of a life marked by humility, trust, and life-giving words, and to let Him shape a portrait that points others to hope.(06/07/2026)

In Part 5 of “Living and Giving the Gospel,” Matt Heard unpacks what it looks like — as Paul exhorted Timothy — to “take hold of the eternal life to which you were called” (1 Timothy 6:12) and that eternal Life is what we all ultimately long for (John 4:13-14). While we will certainly experience eternal Life in heaven — no longer inhibited by a fallen world — eternal Life is not a synonym for heaven. To take hold of eternal Life means, on a daily basis, to be “alive” (“zoe” – the Life of God through His Spirit) and experience an intimate relationship with Jesus in the midst of every aspect of my journey. “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3).(05/31/2026)

What do you do when you want clear direction from God but the path ahead feels uncertain? In this message from Proverbs 3, we explore what it really means to trust God with our lives, even when His plans do not look like our plans. This sermon unpacks how wisdom is formed not by having all the answers, but by leaning into God’s character, letting go of self-reliance, and choosing trust one step at a time. You will be encouraged to see how a growing relationship with God shapes better decisions, brings peace in seasons of confusion, and leads us down a path that is good, meaningful, and ultimately filled with joy.(05/24/2026)

In Part 4 of, “Living and Giving the Gospel,” Matt Heard encourages us to embrace the Story of the Gospel summarized by Jesus in John 10:10 — “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” We all love stories because of an underlying reason: all compelling stories reflect the great, cosmic Story of God rescuing His creation through Christ. The Gospel is about a Plot — a plot to redeem and restore a fallen planet, including us. As a result, the Gospel is an Invitation to be a part of the Story of Jesus by responding to His yearning for us, as His image-bearers, to be lovingly restored to the Life He originally intended when He created us.(05/17/2026)

Mother’s Day is a beautiful celebration, but it can also be a day filled with complicated emotions. In this Mother’s Day message, we are reminded that hope is not found in doing everything right, but in trusting the God who gives it freely. Through Romans 15:13, this sermon speaks honestly to moms carrying guilt, exhaustion, and worry, and offers a renewed vision of joy, peace, and strength that comes from believing. When hope feels lost and the future feels heavy, God meets us with more than enough, filling us beyond what we think we need and reminding every mom that she is not alone, not finished, and not without hope.(05/10/2026)

In Part 3 of Living and Giving the Gospel, Matt Heard continues the journey through John 4 and Jesus’ conversation with the woman at the well, exploring the deep thirst that drives every human heart. This message looks at why our longings matter, how we often try to satisfy them in temporary ways, and how Jesus offers something far deeper and lasting than anything else we pursue. Through vivid stories and everyday language, we are invited to see eternal life not just as a future promise but as a present, life giving relationship with God that reshapes how we live and how we share hope with others.(05/03/2026)

What do we do with the deep longings that shape our lives? In Part 2 of Living and Giving the Gospel, Matt Heard returns to John 4 and the story of Jesus and the woman at the well to explore the ache, thirst, and yearning we all carry. From everyday pursuits to misplaced hopes, this message invites us to honestly acknowledge our longings and discern how we try to satisfy them. Jesus does not dismiss our desires. He reveals that they point to something deeper and better than anything we can manufacture on our own. Discover how recognizing what you truly thirst for opens the door to experiencing real life and prepares you to share that life with others.(04/26/2026)

What are we really thirsty for in life, and are we asking for the right thing? Pastor Matt Heard walks through Jesus’ conversation with the woman at the well in John 4 and shows how what we want is often different from what we truly need. Jesus offers more than temporary fixes or surface level satisfaction. He offers real life, the kind that fills us from the inside out and never runs dry. This sermon invites us to experience that life personally and then share it with others, learning how to live out the good news daily and pass it on with clarity, compassion, and purpose.(04/19/2026)

In this message, we are invited into one of the most personal moments of Jesus’ life, when He chose a towel and a basin instead of a throne. From John 13, we see that following Jesus is not just about what we believe, but how we live. As Jesus washes the feet of His disciples, He shows us a powerful picture of humility, love, and service in action. This sermon challenges us to move beyond inspiration into obedience by knowing the example Jesus set, trusting Him even when we do not fully understand, and putting His way of life into practice at home, at work, and in our community. When we choose to serve others with humility, we begin to reflect the heart of Jesus and experience the blessing that comes from living out what we know.(04/12/2026)

What does Easter really mean for everyday life? Pastor Matt Heard invites us to look beyond traditions and into the powerful reality of Jesus rising from the dead. Through the story of the empty tomb and Jesus’ claim to be the light of the world, we explore why the resurrection is not just something to believe but something that changes how we live. This message highlights how the resurrection brings real life, restored relationship with God, and lasting hope even in dark seasons. Discover how the light of Jesus still breaks through doubt, fear, and disappointment and how you are personally invited to step into that light today.(04/05/2026)

What do you do when what you hoped for and what you are living do not line up? Pastor Jarian Felton walks through Matthew 21 and invites us to look at the tension between expectation and experience. As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the crowd expects power, victory, and immediate change, but what unfolds looks nothing like what they imagined. This message helps us see how often we approach God with our own picture of how things should go and how disappointment can grow when reality does not match that picture. Through the story of the triumphal entry and the road to the cross, we are reminded that Jesus may not always meet our expectations, but He is always working for our good, leading us toward hope, restoration, and new life even when the path looks unexpected.(03/29/26)

What do we do when life breaks open and trouble finds us? Pastor Matt Heard explores how pain and crisis are unavoidable parts of life, but they do not have to be wasted. Jesus reminds us that trouble will come, yet peace is still possible, and Scripture shows that our response matters. We can try to escape discomfort or we can engage it with an open and willing posture. Drawing from passages like 2 Corinthians 4 and James 1, this sermon invites us to see hardship as a turning point that can deepen character, strengthen trust, and shape a more resilient faith. Discover how choosing engagement over avoidance allows God to bring healing, purpose, and new life even through our most difficult seasons.(03/22/2026)

What do we do when trouble shows up and refuses to leave? In this message, Pastor Matt Heard reminds us that pain is not optional, but our response is. Jesus promised peace, not the absence of hardship, and the way we respond in difficult seasons shapes who we become. This sermon explores two common reactions to suffering, escape or engage, and why choosing to lean in with a humble and open heart leads to growth, healing, and deeper strength. Through honest stories and Scripture, we are invited to stop numbing our pain or pretending it is not there and instead allow God to use it to refine us, restore us, and move us forward into new life and hope.(03/15/2026)f

Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Today's psalmist, who wrote Psalm 10, cried "why?" in an honest expression of pain and a sincere trust that God would answer. On this Father's Day Sunday, we recognize two strong temptations that men experience in our society as it relates to emotions: the "loose cannon" that inflicts emotional pain on others, and the "locked vault" that inflicts emotional pain on himself. Pastor Chris teaches us the invitation in this psalm, and across the collection of psalms, to a healthier, happier, and more godly way to manage our emotions. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! As we continue our series on the key elements of practicing our faith, Pastor Chris leads our study of prayer this morning with Jesus' parable of a persistent widow. Like the widow in the story, we have needs, even if we're reluctant to admit it. We need to share our needs in prayer with God repeatedly, and not give up when God doesn't answer immediately, because the discipline of prayer builds up our faith. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! If you would want someone to pray with you, we are eager to do so! If you would like more information about our church, we're want to share. For many of us who grew up attending churches, we recall instructions we were given to believe certain things to be true, to perform particular rituals to demonstrate our obedience, and to abstain from specific sins. Not only has this pattern of believe / perform / abstain / repeat been prevalent in our generations, it dominated the Hebrew faith during Jesus' earthly ministry. Jesus taught a better way: love. In Mark 12, Jesus answered a question about the greatest commandment by quoting the commandments to love God and to love each other. These two instructions are interlinked and equally important, and they were demonstrated in everything that Jesus taught and did. This must be our foundation for the life that Jesus wants for us, that we, too, love God and love each other first and most of all.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! If you would want someone to pray with you, we are eager to do so! If you would like more information about our church, we're want to share. Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Pastor Korey, who serves as the pastor of the Online Campus of First Baptist Church, cautions us that following Jesus is not a guarantee that only good things will happen to us. The important lesson is that God has prepared us for these troubles, God will be with us in all situations at all times, and that God wants to use every circumstance in our lives to build our faith and increase our peace. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Today's topic is baptism, as we continue our study of the basic of our beliefs. The discussion of baptism fits well with last week's discussion of repentance, since baptism is the external demonstration of the internal commitment to let God turn our lives around. The act of baptism is both a rejection of sin and an acceptance of our life immersed our life with God.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Today, guest speaker Ben Markham from Discovery Church shares the story in Luke 4 when Jesus taught at the synagogue in His hometown of Nazareth. Those listening were outraged at Jesus' message and even tried to kill Him! What Jesus was teaching that so disrupted their expectations is that redemption is not just for a select few people but for everyone. If we are to follow Jesus, we also need to offer grace, love, and the good news of Jesus to everyone. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Pastor Sócrates has us consider the urgent need in our world for self-less love that originates with God, a love that the New Testament identifies with the Greek word agape. As servants of God and ambassadors for God, we need to live out this agape love in how we treat others. There are three traits we need to watch for in ourselves that tell us we are loving others the way God loves them. First, our love is "others seeking," not self-seeking. Second, our love is humble, not self-absorbed. Thirdly, our love demonstrates compassion, not condemnation. As we pray this week, let's ask God to show us what it look like in our daily lives to love with this agape love.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! With Horizon West Church getting closer to breaking ground on our church building, Pastor Chris today teaches about the spiritual importance of membership in a local church. In other areas of our lives, membership is a "transaction," where we sign up and pay a fee to access a service. Membership in a church does not follow this transactional model, and Pastor Chris explains how we are nourished by engaging with others in our Christian family through membership in the local church. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Today, Pastor Chris continues with the idea of going deeper from his earlier message with our "Word of the Year." This is not meant to compare ourselves with others, nor is it an encouragement to greater theological complexity. We are encouraged to grow deeper than we have been before in our faith, in our faith-driven actions, and in our relationship with God.As we go deeper, Pastor Chris gives us three thoughts to help us. First, the deeper life will require less, not more, activities, as we shed that which would distract us from our goals. Second, the deeper life will feel unfamiliar, and we will feel the urge to go back to what we know, but growth requires leaving the comfortable. Third, the deeper life is not one we can pursue alone. God's plan has always been for a community of faith to support each other, including the assurance in Hebrews 12:1 that "we are surrounded by so great a crowd of witnesses."If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! Pastor Chris has a practice of sharing our church's word of the year each January. This Sunday, his message presents our word of the year: DEEPER.We are eager to bring people into our community and support them as they find Jesus to be their savior. But there's much more as we grow deeper in the abundant life that Jesus promises His followers. As pastor and writer Rick Warren describes it, "You are as close to God as you choose to be." This year, we will strive to grow deeper in our love for God, in our hunger for God's Word in our lives, and in our commitment to our humanity in the way that God created each of us to be.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for today's worship service! We have a tradition of making the first worship service of the new year a time of meditation and prayer for God's guidance and blessing on our church, our community, and on the ministries that God is calling us to do. In today's message, we consider Terah, recorded in Genesis 11 and 12, who was the father of Abram who later became Abraham. God blessed Terah and led him from his birthplace in Ur toward the land of Caanan, but Terah could only go part of the way in his grief over a son who died young. We see God's mercy and love given to Terah and his family even though Terah failed at the goal God had set for him. God's blessing are not conditional, and we do not earn God's blessings through what we achieve. God's blessings come to us not because of who we are but because God is love.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! If you would want someone to pray with you, we are eager to do so! If you would like more information about our church, we're want to share. Thank you for joining us this Christmas Eve! Being such a popular holiday, most people know the "what," "when," "where," and "who" of Christmas, but the most important question to ask is "why?" Why did God send His only son Jesus to be the baby in the manger, the preacher on the hillside, and the man who was executed on a cross and rose again, defeating death? One reason why is seen in the meaning of the name Jesus: "he saves." Jesus came to be the Savior for everyone. Another reason why is seen in the meaning of the name Emmanuel: "God with us." God demonstrated in the person of Jesus that there is nothing that God wouldn't do to reach every one of us with grace and love. On this Christmas Eve, open up and accept God's amazing gift of love!If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We're starting a new series that focuses on the Greater Vision that God has given us for Horizon West Church. We are committing these next four weeks to study and worship so that we can carry out this vision to build a permanent presence in Horizon West on the Schofield Road property that God has provided for us.Today, Pastor Chris presents us with three keys for carrying out God's vision. The first key is for us to have Confidence in God's ability. The second key is for us to have Clarity on God's purposes. It is always in God's purposes for us to move forward with the freedom to be who God has made each of us to be. While God's specific plans vary across centuries, geographies, and communities, God's purposes of freedom and moving forward for the Glory of God remain the same. Lastly, we need Conviction about what to do next. This key takes us to the "nuts and bolts" of activities we put on our calendars, steps we set out to follow, and decisions we make to invest our time and resources in what God is leading us to do.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! As we complete our series on marriages, Pastor Chris urges us to go beyond the present and examine how we think about our marriages and how our thoughts and actions can lead to healthier marriages. We should be thinking beyond our role and our spouse's role in the marriage, for we are much more than merely a role, and our value in a relationship is not measured by our productivity. We should be thinking beyond our happiness, and even beyond the happiness of our spouse, for happiness is a moving target. God calls us to grow in holiness, not just as individuals but as a couple. We should be thinking beyond our lifetime as well, for God's plan for us is to be a life-changing example of God's perfect love being shared with those around us.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! Some of these questions come up when a couple start dating, some as the marriage matures, but none of these questions go away, because both people in the relationship are continually growing and changing. We sometimes think of the wedding as the goal to be achieved, but we're wiser to see the wedding as the starting line of a lifelong relationship. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! In this continuation of our series focused on marriages, Pastor Chris digs deeper into God's ideals for marriage as given in the first chapters of Genesis. One of these ideals is that we grow through close relationships. These relationships can be found in marriages and families, and Psalm 68:6 rejoices that "God sets the lonely in families" so that all of God's children can benefit from the blessings of close relationships. Another of these ideas for marriages is an equal partnership between the spouses, described in these passages from Genesis, a partnership benefitting from the differences between the individuals in a marriage. We want to build our marriage relationships on God's wisdom and catch ourselves before we confuse cultural expectations about relationships with the dreams for marriage that God shares with us.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We are starting a new series focused on marriages, and this first message uses Genesis 1 to explore God's plan for humanity, and more specifically, God's plan for marriage. As Nikki Ogden puts it, "Maybe marriage is less about finding the person who makes you perfectly happy and more about finding the one whom God uses to help you become holy; to look more like Jesus." Pastor Chris explains, "The starting point in understanding marriage is to understand the love story between God and His beloved, humanity."If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! In today's Bible passage, Moses is tending his father-in-law's sheep in the desert after running away in fear from Egypt. While in the desert, God grabs Moses' attention in a bush that was burning but not burning up. In the resulting conversation with Moses, God tells Moses he will lead Abraham's descendants from slavery in Egypt into a land that God promised. A key verse in this story is Exodus 33:15, where Moses pleads with God, "If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here."Horizon West Church is approaching a similar challenge regarding a plan to build a permanent building on the property we bought last year. We, like Moses, need to commit ourselves to following God's leadership and listening for what God wants us to do. As the poet wrote in Psalm 127:1, "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain."Of much greater importance is how each of us respond when God tries to get our attention to call us to serve God. We, like Moses, need to recognize God's presence, trust in God's promise, and follow God's plan.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We are wrapping up our series on the story of Joseph, looking at the passage where Joseph reflects on his life and how God was always faithful and present in good and bad times. Joseph learned the truth that God's way is best, and we can learn the same from Joseph's experience. We can say these words with confidence: We don't know when, where, or how, but God is going to make a way where there seems to be no way.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We are continuing the story of Joseph, and the internal struggles Joseph experienced when he met with his brothers who had sold him into slavery. The "soap opera" of Joseph's life included frequent deceptions and half-truths, paralleling stories from the lives of his father and grandfather. God is at work, even with these questionable actions of Joseph and his brothers. Shiloh explains for us in this story three important truths: God's faithfulness is not contingent on our faithfulness. Life's trials are not an infringement upon God's call on our lives. Our blessings come from (a lot of things but mostly from) how clearly we see.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We are continuing the story of Joseph today, focusing this week on Genesis chapter 41. Last week, we saw how Joseph allowed God to use him, even when he was in jail, to provide answers to two fellow prisoners. This week, we see Joseph, still in jail and forgotten by the one he helped -- it's not fair! Still, Joseph was faithful to God as he waited two more years, and God was actively working good for Joseph even when he couldn't see it. Pastor Socrates gives us three habits to practice to strengthen our faithfulness, particularly in times of waiting: thanking God for every good thing, noticing when God transforms a setback into something good, and sharing with others how God is working in your life.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We are continuing the story of Joseph today, focusing on chapters 39 and 49 of the book of Genesis. Once again, Joseph found himself in unfair circumstances, this time in jail in Egypt. Once again, Joseph remained faithful and obedient to God, and God opened opportunities for Joseph to glorify God by helping his captors and fellow prisoners. As Pastor Korey teaches us, just because God is silent doesn't mean that God is absent, and we also should not be absent in following God's calling to serve others. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We've all been thirsty before, so we can imagine how thirsty Jesus felt, sitting by a well in Samaria in the middle of the day. When he asked a woman who had come to the well for a drink, she was surprised that Jesus would talk with her given her ethnicity and background, but Jesus doesn't let differences separate us from Him. He also gave her what she needed, the Living Water of a restored relationship with God. Jesus offers the same Living Water to us, too! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! We are continuing our study of the life of Joseph from the book of Genesis. Last week's message discussed obstacles that Joseph had to overcome, and today's message discusses temptations that Joseph had to avoid. They ways that Joseph resisted these temptations give us three approaches that we can use to resist temptation. The first is to put our devotion to God first in our lives. The second is to put distance between ourselves and evil. The third is to run when evil closes in.If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Joseph was the eleventh of twelve sons born to Jacob, the grandson of Abraham, and his relationship with his older brothers was difficult. In the stories given in Genesis and in this sermon series, we see how God used the difficulties in Joseph's life served to increase his faith, and how his faith positively impacted his family and their descendants. Thank you for joining us for this week's message! Today's message is the third and final one in a series of messages on spiritual transformation. In this message, Pastor Chris teaches us that the two "producers" of spiritual formation are the human soul and the Holy Spirit. In the earlier messages, we saw how our heart and our character produce our actions. We add to this model four dimensions of influence on our heart: our bodies, social environments, thoughts, and feelings. Our souls are what binds our spiritual lives together, integrating the dimensions of our lives so we grow more like Christ. But our souls cannot produce this growth without the Holy Spirit in us. It is this union of our souls with the Spirit that continually produce new life in us.For Horizon West Church, this spiritual formation in our members has allowed God to change lives in our community and to draw people into closer relationships with God and each other. As God continues to lead us, there are exciting times ahead of us, with the planned construction of a permanent church home. Watch for a Response Sunday in late October when we will commit to God's plan for this building project! If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! Pastor Chris teaches us a powerful lesson on the purpose of the church, which is to support believers in being transformed into the image of Jesus. This transformation comes through grace from God; we cannot do it on our own. However, God will not work in us without our engagement and involvement. When we actively seek for God to transform us, God works in our hearts, our "command center," so that our actions are more loving and our character more closely resembles Jesus. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us for this week's message! Pastor Chris finishes the Cancelled series of messages by examining the attitudes and actions of the older son in the Parable of the Prodigal Son given to us in Luke 15. When any of us grow "comfortable" in our faith, we are at risk of feeling the resentments expressed by the older so, so we need to remind ourselves of the forgiveness we receive continually from our Father so we can give that same kind of forgiveness to others. We cultivate this heart of forgiveness when we enjoy the Father's resources, when we envision the Father's plan, and when we embrace the Father's heart. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! In biblical times, shepherds would allow their sheep to graze during the day, then find a safe place, like a cave, for the sheep to stay at night when predators hunted. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! In today's passage from John 10, Jesus described three characteristics of a great leader. As Jesus teaches us, a great leader is committed to care for his followers, is able to protect his followers, and is willing to sacrifice for his followers. In Jesus' day, those who claimed to be the great leaders of the Jewish temple didn't practice any of these characteristics. Most of us today have worked for leaders who made our jobs miserable because they didn't follow these characteristics either. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! Today's message is based on the second chapter of Paul's letter to the Ephesians to consider the good news of our salvation. In this message, Pastor Sócrates walks us through these verses to understand what we are saved FROM, what we are saved BY, and what we are saved FOR. Our new everlasting life in Christ Jesus saves us from the spiritual death brought by sin. We are saved by the grace of God alone and not by any action we could take to earn or deserve this salvation. God doesn't stop pouring grace on us once we have accepted this salvation, however. God has saved us for a fulfilling life of joy, of growth, of valuing and honoring others, and of good and generous service to others. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church for this New Year's Eve service! We have a tradition that we mark the start of a new year with a "blessing" service, filled with worship and prayer. For this year's service, we are focusing on how God has blessed us and how we can be ready for what God wants to do with us in the coming year. We are structuring this prayer time around three "movements": salvation for the nations, healing of people, and transfer of gospel faith to the next generation. If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we want to rejoice with you! Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church for this Christmas Eve service! The story of God's gift to us in the birth of Jesus is the greatest story ever told, as God "became flesh and dwelt among us." The story of Christmas brought us Jesus to show us by thought and action what God's love is like, so Paul could write it for us in 1 Corinthians 13 that we have been studying for the month of December. As the old hymn says, "Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all." If you prayed to make Jesus your Lord today, we'd love to celebrate with you! If you were moved by the Christmas season to go deeper in your faith journey, we want to support you as you grow your faith. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! As we have been preparing for Christmas by studying the characteristics of God's love in 1 Corinthians 13, we have reflected on the essential nature of love and the strength inherent in love. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! As we anticipate our Christmas celebrations, we remember that the birth of baby Jesus is a gift of love to us from God, so we're studying the "love chapter" of the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13, leading up to our Christmas Eve services. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! As we celebrate the season of Advent leading up to Christmas, we rejoice that love came down to earth with the birth of the baby Jesus. There is no passage of scripture that better defines God's love than 1 Corinthians 13, and this week begins a short series on what this passage teaches us about God's perfect love and how we are to live so that we are sharing that love. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! Each of us are unique individuals, shaped by our personal experiences, and blessed by God with talents and abilities specific to us to be used in service to God and to others. Healthy environments prosper from the strength of the diverse contributions of participants, but unhealthy environments, like the church in Corinth, tear themselves apart by rejecting, rather than respecting, the uniqueness of each individual. In today's message, Pastor Chris looks at Paul's directions to that church that aimed to turn them around, and apply those instructions to our lives today. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! We conclude our Journey of Grace series with Paul's explanation in 2 Corinthians of how generosity builds more generosity. Pastor Chris compared this cycle to a flywheel, started in motion by God's love for us; as 1 John 4:19 explains, "We love because He first loved us." When we receive God's generosity with awe and submission, our response is to pour out God's generosity to others, and as others see God's generosity in us, we all respond in awe and praise of a God whose blessings know no end!For more information about our in-person Sunday morning services, visit https://horizonwestchurch.com. Pastor Chris gives us these concepts to guide us as we take these steps forward: (1) Our actions to give of ourselves must be rooted in our commitment, not in our emotions. (2) God calls us to give according to our actual abilities, not according to what others are doing or what we wish we could do. Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church!Today's scripture comes from 2 Corinthians 8 where Paul wrote about the generous giving by the church at Macedonia. When we think about life in the first century, we realize those gifts from the Macedonians took many months to reach the famine victims in Jerusalem, and the church at Macedonia likely never knew how their sacrificial giving helped others. In our day, we like to see results from what we do. Instead, God calls us to demonstrate grace in how we give of ourselves, showing faith that God's plans and timeframes for using what we give are best. For more information about our in-person Sunday morning services, visit https://horizonwestchurch.com. Paul's letters to the church at Corinth addressed many varied areas of dispute and division within that community of faith. In this week's passage, the dispute had to do with head coverings, but Paul cut through to the heart of the matter in describing a healthy relationship between a husband and a wife. Paul gives us timeless instructions on how our marriages are to reflect the nature of God, giving of ourselves to uplift each other.

Also in today's service, we have an interview with Tiffany Mankaheriharison, our missionary to Madagascar. She shares about her calling into missionary work and how God is working through that ministry.

Thank you for joining us at Horizon West Church! In 1 Corinthians 10, Paul urged believers not only to start their faith journey, but to diligently continue their faith journey and finish our journeys well. He provided several examples of how God's people stumbled in their faith from the stories of Abraham's descendants following Moses in the wilderness. Pastor Chris grouped these teachings into three principles we should apply: guard our hearts, guard our bodies, and guard our tongues.
