Lori Griffin is a west Texas based artist/curator who put together a pop up show that I was invited to participate in along with 21 other West Texas Artists.  She is a  delightful personality and we had a nice conversation at the 'opening' of the show in a donated space owned by local artist Steven Walker.  Temperatures were taken at the entrance and artist participants were staggered to ensure social distancing.  The work focused on the current experience of the artists in pandemic.  On hand was Sarah Shuttleworth, a new artist, whose 3D work illuminating the anxiety we've all felt with wearing masks in public spaces and the difficulty dealing with the plethora of information via  media outlets that seem more overwhelming than helpful.  The show is designed to be a travelling exhibit and hopefully will visit HTX in the future.

Romeo Robinson is a visual artist based in Houston, TX.  He paints large figurative works that depict and enlighten black figures of importance and relevance to society that are sometimes overlooked or persecuted.  He wanted to make looking at images of black subjects to be a normal experience, unlike what history has provided, with lack of black stories, paintings in particular,  in museums and galleries, Romeo sought to fill in the gap and paint what he wanted to see.  Go to www.artistsofhouston.com for show notes and more details of podcast.
