The week’s episode is all about the effects of the Ukrainian war on the neighbouring and historically related countries Romania and Moldova. Diana Filimon, journalist, activist and member of DCN Global from Romania, offers us insides on both countries and compares how the situation has unfolded. Anxiety, fatigue and worries make the people more vulnerable to disinformation and misinformation attacks, making it interesting to delve into details on how they affect Romanian and Moldavian societies.

To launch #HumansForUkraine initiative, we organized a Twitter Spaces Discussion. The hosts, Diana Filimon and Aurra Kawanzaruwa talked to Ukrainian civil society activists, Yulia Reshitko, Tetiana Yakubovych and Melania Podolyak, currently living in Lviv, about the situation on the ground, how the resistance against the invaders is holding up and how can people help them. They shared both inspiring stories and heartbreaking ones and spread the word about the situation of people in Ukraine, under attack.
DCN Global launched the #HumansForUkraine campaign of user-generated multimedia stories, depicting the way Ukrainians live through the tragic experience of war, oppression, human rights violations and migration while fighting for freedom and democracy on behalf of their country and the whole world. Ηundreds of DCN members have been in contact with us, sharing their stories as well as their profound appreciation for the global solidarity they feel. We believe that these stories need to be added to the daily flow of news about the war, to provide a human dimension and a civil society perspective. This initiative responds to a call to action by Ukrainians who want the world to hear their voices.
Their stories will be updated daily, on DCN Global’s social media and on the website https://dcnglobal.net/humansforukraine and include digital diaries, visuals, quotes, blogs, interviews, connecting with life in Ukraine and neighbouring countries where the refugees are, during a war that threatens all of us but is experienced the most by those in the front lines, in Ukraine.

To talk about media literacy in regions of Armenia we hosted multimedia journalist Aren Melikyan, who works as a TV journalist, fact checker, podcast producer, correspondent for a number of local and regional leading media platforms and Vahe Khachikyan, who works at “NGO center” civil society development organization as a projects coordinator. Particularly, he coordinates Vanadzor InfoTun/Infohouseproject, which aims to increase the level of media literacy among the youth of Lori region.
We have talked about the importance of media literacy many times, and this time we particularly talked about the regions of Armenia. Currently, one of our main tasks is to raise the level of media literacy in regions. The tenth episode is about measures and researches aimed at eliminating this problem.

Nancy Mkrtchyan talked about hate speech to Nelli Gishyan, who is an international expert at the Council of Europe, an international human rights educator. In 2015-2018, she was the national coordinator of the CoE "No Hate Speech" movement, after which the pan-European activists of the movement and the national committees of the CoE member states established the "No Hate Speech" International Network. Nelli has been elected Chair of the International Board at "No Hate Speech" Network until December of 2021.
It is important that People could distinguish between hate speech and freedom of expression. There can be no democracy without freedom of expression, and without democracy human rights are not protected. Episode 9 is about hate speech.

He now works in Government Relations and Partnerships for CovidActNow, a disease intelligence and modeling non-profit.
Transparency, disinformation, elections and democracy are the main points discussed during the fourth episode.
According to Stefan Turkheimer the most important thing in democracy is that elected officials should be able to accept their defeat. If we do not have a peaceful change of government, then we do not have democracy.

My name is Anna Romandash, and I am your host. In this podcast, I’m taking you to Ukraine where a community of activists, journalists, and professional fact-checkers are battling a powerful new stream of corona-fakes. Ukraine has been a forefront of the information war for nearly a decade as a result of the ongoing tensions with Russia and a military intervention in Ukraine’s East. The information war has been linked to the Kremlin, and it targets audiences across the world in order to spread false or manipulated claims. Kremlin-funded media and troll factories are no longer news yet THEY have found a new topic of interest. CORONAVIRUS. This pandemic forced nearly half the global population into some sort of quarantine, and Ukraine is no exception. Yet, in addition to health concerns, Ukrainians are faced with lots of fakes all over social media. To shed light on the current situation, I've spoken with Iryna Matviyishyn. She is an analyst and journalist at Internews Ukraine and Ukraine World. The latter is an online platform which explains things happening in Ukraine for international audiences. Iryna knows a lot about fakes in Ukrainian media space. She observes how they transform to target new audiences. and spread more disinformation every second.
Artificial narrative and manipulations create problems not only in Ukraine. Throughout the world, we see many examples when false information becomes a weapon, and where media literacy looks like the only tool. Luckily, this tool is free to use, and we should apply it more often. We at DCN hope you enjoyed listening to this story, so feel free to reach out and give us your feedback.
