Jingle bells; Wilpon sells; Cohen saves the day.  Oh, what fun it will be if COVID is gone by opening day.  Of course, that remains to be seen.  Baseball, in both action and word, clearly took a back seat to our national election, protests against social injustice, and the ongoing global pandemic, and while the year 2020 was illuminating and an awakening for some, it proved devasting for others.  A Metsian Podcast never tried losing sight of that, seeking merely to respectfully provide Metsville and baseball fans with courteous, even sometimes rueful banter and social distraction.  Tonight, Sam, Rich, and Mike invite you to what they hope will be an amazin' End of Year virtual podcast party.  Little do they know that friends and guests of the show left them gifts under the tree!  Please don your ugliest Mets t-shirt, sweater, or jersey, and join the fun at the first annual Metsian Podcast virtually distanced office party.  Before Big Red's eggnog gets the better of you, call 646-787-1919 with your questions, comments, or holiday cheer!  See what we did there?!  The show goes LIVE at 8:00 pm (EST), sharp!  In humble appreciation of all our listeners and supporters, A Metsian Podcast wishes our New York Mets extended family a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year.  #LGM

We have been in a surreal state of late as Mets fans, seemingly looking at all of our dreams coming true; not necessarily for a World Series every year, but some semblance of competent day-to-day baseball operations and fan interaction. Steve Cohen has talked about bringing the history of the team as us fans have lived and enjoyed it back to the foreground, so in that context, we welcome author and editor David Krell, who has assembled a anthology collection of essays speaking to the history of the New York Mets in Popular Culture.

After briefly discussing the Robinson Canó suspension, we will dive into how the Mets have influenced pop culture, including music, movies, the city, day-to-day life, the radio voices of the Mets, sponsorships, and so much more...

LIVE at 8pm ET, A Metsian Podcast is back with our regularly scheduled program, this the 67th official edition.

Tonight, Journalist Laura Goldman joins us, who was front and center in many Mets fans' twitter feeds as the process of the sale to Steve Cohen unfolded.

She is also an consultant to ABC News where she helped produce the well-received Biden and Trump townhalls moderated by George Stephanopoulos.

That's a wrap on one of the most uncommon regular seasons in baseball history.  Congratulations to all on a job well done.  Let the post-season begin!  The Mets, however, will be watching from afar.  Their season ends on a bittersweet note.  An era of Mets baseball comes to a rather common end: at the bottom of the standings with a sub .500 record.  However, fans are banking on better days ahead.  For now they anxiously await finalization of the deal that takes the Mets out of Wilpon Family control, and into the hands of hedge fund billionaire and lifelong Mets fan, Steve Cohen.  Ownership, Sandy Alderson, Brodie Van Wagenen, the manager, the weird 2020 season and the future of Mets baseball are all on tap this evening on A Metsian Podcast.  The Kranepool Society, Stephen Keane, joins Sam, Rich, and Mike to break it all down.  Show goes LIVE! at 8:00pm (EST), sharp!  You are welcome to call 646-787-1919 with questions and comments.  #LGM

Seven games remain in the Mets regular season, three against Tampa and four versus Washington.  With any luck the Mets will qualify for the playoffs with at least a .500 record.  But how confident are you in their ability to negotiate four rounds of playoffs?  Can this pitching staff pull them through?  Will they even make the playoffs?  John Pielli, host of The Passed Ball Show, joins a Metsian Podcast to help answer these questions and more.  Sunday night's show goes LIVE at 8:00pm (EST), sharp!  You're welcome to call #646-787-1919 and join the conversation.  #LGM

Wishin'...and hopin'....and thinkin'...and prayin'...

These classic lyrics sung by Dionne Warwick come to mind as every Mets fan read the official statement released that Steve Cohen and Sterling Partners have agreed to a deal to sell him the Mets. Now, it is only a matter of the other MLB owners voting yes and the Mets are finally out of the Wilpons' hands.

While analyzing the playoff chances that continue to dwindle after another disappointing weekend, we will look towards the future on tonight's A Metsian Podcast, dreaming of a world with a well operated baseball machine on the other side of the baseball city.

New York, New York, it's a hell of a baseball town where local Mets and Yankees fans ride in a hole in the ground (hopefully wearing masks while practicing social distancing).  The subway system has run parallel with New York City's baseball history for well over a century.  In fact, five score and sixteen years ago local fans via the city's new subway system begin commuting to the Polo Grounds and Washington Park in Brooklyn.  Before long fans are third-railing their way to Ebbets Field and Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium decades later.  Today's commute to the new modern parks is no different.  However, Major League Baseball is doing its damndest to impose change upon the game and its fans.  This begs the question: is it worth swiping a MetroCard be it to River Avenue or Rosevelt Avenue in order to see a seven inning ballgame?  This is sure to spark a rather intense debate on Sunday evening's 64th episode of a Metsian Podcast.  Longtime friend of the show, The Coop is back!  Together with Sam, Rich, and Mike, they'll recap the five game Subway Series that was between Bronx and Queens; opine on the latest ownership developments; tap into their respective inner GM as the trade deadline approaches and jump into the time machine back to the year 1964, and revisit players who've worn number sixty-four through Mets history.  Tonight's show kicks off at 8:00pm (EST), sharp!  You're more than welcome to call 646-787-1919 with your comments and opinions.

COVID-19 continues altering an already compromised 2020 regular season, and the problematic Miami Marlins condition remains front and center.  Most recently one player and one organizational member fo the New York Mets tested positive for coronavirus during the team's most recent visit to Florida.  To be fair, where and when they contracted the virus is yet to be determined.  Nonetheless, a concerned Metsian Podcast extends their collective well wishes to the Mets organization.  Otherwise, ten teams, one-third of all major league baseball teams have now experienced coronavirus related postponements.  New York City's scheduled weekend subway series is an obvious casualty.  Speaking of which, a Flight-o-Fish is due to arrive in Queens this week.  How does that make you feel, Mets fans?  Sam, Rich and Mike go fishing for answers this evening at 8:00pm (EST).  They'll also be jumping into the time machine and revisiting the 1963 season.  There's much to discuss so feel free to call the show at 646-787-1919 and join the conversation.  #LGM

Happy Independence Day! LIVE at 8pm ET, A Metsian Podcast comes at you with the hopes and dreams that as the summer and July take off, we may actually have baseball at the tailend of this month, even if it was extremely strange not having actual baseball on the Fourth of July.

Both yesterday and today, however, different squads started simulated baseball, including the likes of Jacob deGrom and Yoenis Cespedes. There won't be many "Spring" games, only 3, but for the next two weeks, we will have the images of players on the field, hoping, as we are, baseball can take off safely and securely.

While some players around the league have been opting out and/or expressing major concerns, Seth Lugo was vocal about being ready to do his job. We'll discuss what some players have said on both sides of the playing-through-COVID issue, as well as discuss Hal Steinbrenner's comments about the possibility of fans in the stands.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! A Metsian Podcast comes at you LIVE at 8pm ET this holiday, continuing to wonder whether baseball will see the light of day in 2020.

Negotiations have sputtered on just in time to intersect spikes in new cases in both spring homes, Arizona and Florida. Since they haven't been able to see eye to eye on money and the virus is still complicating re-opening plans around the nation, should baseball just cut its losses? Or is the long-term survival of the game too serious to let the whole year go by without new games?

Plus, we'll travel down memory lane looking at Mets to wear number 58 in team history.

Precious time continues wasting away.  It's already mid-June and MLB and the MLBPA remain far from striking a deal on a tentative 2020 season.  If anything negotiations between parties remain stalemated and rife with animosity.  The Union believes talks have reached the point of futility, with players essentially throwing their hands in the air asking MLB to impose a modified schedule and a report to work date.  Should that be the case baseball now gets to unilaterally impose a shortened season and pay players at a prorated basis.  Who wins?  Who loses?  Who still cares?  Sam, Rich, and Mike, return this evening attempting to tackle these very issues.  Also on tap, orange and blue musings and a trip down Metsian lane.  The show kicks off at 8:00pm (EST), sharp.  And as usual you're welcome to call (646-787-1919) and join the conversation.

What we have here is a failure to communicate - a crisis of trust.  Over ten weeks have elapsed since the COVID-19 pandemic first causes baseball to suspend all operations.  Although MLB and the MLBPA in March come to terms on a contingency agreement the parties have since only grown more divergent in their respective plan for proceeding forward.  Sadly, any semblance of a 2020 season is now under threat of being cancelled outright not over health concerns but due to proverbial irreconcilable differences.  Said another way, money.  And so continues the contentious near 150-year history of professional baseball.  Joining a Metsian Podcast to provide a fair unbiased assessment of baseball's present condition, and lend context into what really is at stake in the world of collectively bargained baseball, is minor league umpire, the Fair Witness, Perry Barber.  Through her eyes a Metsian Podcast also takes another look at what wide-ranging impact MLB's plan for downsizing minor league baseball will cause.  Plus, Wall Street issues the Mets latest financial report card, and it's not good;, and so much more.  Please join Sam, Rich, Mike, and Perry, this Sunday evening at 8:00pm (EST), sharp!  Baseball banter and Metsian musings await.  As usual, you're welcome to call (646-787-1919), and join the conversation.  #LGM

LIVE at 8pm ET, Stephen Keane, formerly of Kranepool Society, joins us on the 56th official edition of A Metsian Podcast!

The players and owners are trying to negotiate terms that would lead to some baseball this year, but the union rejected the latest terms sent their way. Some shots were also fired by some players, including Max Scherzer, calling the owners out for “dealing in a lack of transparency.” What will it take to get a deal done, and what could the repercussions be long term if they are the only sports league to not play this year?

“JRod” - ARod and JLo - are once more trying to put together a investment team to buy the Mets. Would this just be shifting from one circus to the other?

And we’ll take a trip down memory lane to look at the players to wear #56 in Mets history.

In the immortal words of Cyndi Lauper, money changes everything.  All these years later is appears she's never been more right.  If you're familiar with the old expression that life immitates sports and sports immitates life, then you're aware baseball is no different.  If not, then pay attention kids, because this a future social studies lesson in the making.  Low and behold in major league baseball we have billionaires versus millionaires publically arguing over, what else, money.  Of course this is only scratching the surface.  How people, fans, and athletes, really feel is now beginning to be revealed.  If a viral pandemic isn't enough to fret over, then brace yourselves because here comes social conflict and the great clash for cash to further complicate the day.  A growing number of Americans want their country re-opened immediately and are taking to the streets in protest against percieved government overreach and public and individual restraint.  Sam, Rich, and Mike, reconvene this Sunday evening with guest Anna Brice, attempting to apply some sense to this increasingly confusing time.  A Metsian Podcast's latest swing at respectful social distraction airs this evening, 8:00pm (EST), sharp!  As usual, you're welcome to call #646-787-1919 and join in on the conversation.  #LGM

LIVE at 8pm ET, the 43rd A Metsian Podcast comes your way as more and more players pour their way into spring training!

Pete Alonso knows exactly what his role is heading into this year, in contrast with making the team last year. He was creatively bullish on his first day in the PSL, envisioning being “drunk as hell” on a float at the end of the season. Aside from the team’s aspirations, what can we expect in his second full season in the bigs?

Jed Lowrie is there, in a knee brace, which almost makes him look like he’s on his way to being replaced by a machine...or fragile as heck still. Is he only here to service the “who is Jed Lowrie?” jokes are this point?

People are actually optimistic, around the pre-season predictions here and there, of the Mets’ chances. Could the tides actually be turning and on what day of the season will you as a Mets fan be optimistic the team is for real?

That and a trip down memory lane with the Mets to wear 43 in their history.

A Metsian Podcast returns and welcomes a favorite of ours, John Coppinger of Metstradamus!

Well, any excitement from the honeymoon period of the Beltrán hire has been stripped away, as Carlos finds himself at the center of the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal, with some reports saying he, along with AJ Hinch and Alex Cora, was a mastermind in the entire debacle. With the former two being coaches at the time, will much happen to the new Mets manager seeing he was only a player?

BVW spoke at the GM meetings and the lawyer talk was in full swing. We'll "dissect" his chatter and attempt to look into the crystal ball of the hot stove...(luckily, we have our resident Metsian prophet joining us tonight...)

With Pete Alonso and Jacob deGrom winning the Rookie of the Year and Cy Youn awards, respectively, we'll bask in the glow that are these two players.

Jeff McNeil returns to the lineup and immediately says, "What injury?" as he doubles in his first appearance back. The Mets weathered the storm while he was gone...could he be the factor they need to keep the momentum going?

Some arms in the bullpen have been moved around, leading to a few sweet performances from Paul Sewald. Do we think it will help further balance the pen, especailly with the continuing struggles (and questionable health) of Edwin Diaz?

LIVE at 8pm ET, A Metsian Podcast is back for its 33rd episode! Though the Mets couldn't keep the magic going on Sunday against the Nationals, they kept their streak alive with a wild Friday and Saturday, making a statement to the rest of the league that their streak against the lesser teams may not have been a fluke.

The Mets find themselves 1 game out of the Wild Card after a crazy weekend that saw them not letting up after continuously falling behind. This stretch has been wild and fantastic, though Sunday reminded us of the issues they still have. What is there to do about Edwin Diaz, who can't seem to go an inning without giving up a home run?

Staying positive, however, we'll recap the first 2 games and reminisce on those instant classics, and look ahead to this week's loaded series against the division-leading Braves.

The trade deadline is upon us with multiple chatter out there as to what the Mets will do. LIVE at 8pm ET, we at A Metsian Podcast will convene to discuss as many possibilities as we can with the Queens Baseball Convention's Co-founder Keith Blacknick!

Keith, a native of Queens who has worked in the film business for over 21 years, formerly blogging on metspolice.com, can now be found writing on ethemediagoon.com. Follow him on twitter at @mediagoon and @QBConvention.

Before getting deep into trade talk, we'll pick Keith's brain about a weekend spent touring some of the Mets minor leagues. We'll also talk the latest about his work on the Queens Baseball Convention.

We've heard there is no way Noah Syndergaard doesn't get dealt, only to then hear Noah will likely stay put. Zack Wheeler had a solid possible audtion in what could be his last start in a Mets uniform, while we also hear the Mets are gauging interest in their closer, Edwin Diaz. Jim Bouton, author of "Ball Four," has passed at age 80. We'll look back on his career and the impact his book had on the culture and the game.

LIVE at 8pm ET, A Metsian Podcast enters the All-Star break thrilled to welcome MetsMerized Online and MetsMinors.net's Jacob Resnick to the program!

Jacob, who got a chance to call an inning as a youngster after winning SNY's kidcaster contest, writes about the Mets for MetsMerizedOnline.com and MetsMinors.net, specializing in the minor leagues. During the summer he covers the Brooklyn Cyclones from MCU Park and during the rest of the year he is a communications student at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. He became a Mets fan in 2006 and still roots through the good times and the bad.

Though there are many issues that have led to the Mets losing record entering the break, none are more glaring than the blown saves, a category they lead the league in. Could they possibly go on a run if they can even remotely get this under control or should they cut their losses and sell off before the hard trade deadline of July 31st?

Brodie Van Wagenen, according to media sources, threw a chair across the room before telling Mickey Callaway to go conduct "your (bleepin') press conference." At what point does this season become his fault as opposed to the coaches?

The Mets have three All-Stars playing on Tuesday: Jacob deGrom, Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso. Alonso will also be performing the night before in the Home Run Derby. We'll discuss their first halves and how important their seasons have been as silver linings to yet another miserable campaign.

With the minors being Mr. Resnick's specialty, we'll also discuss the seasons the affiliates are having and some hidden gems us fans may be able to look forward to down the road.

That plus MUCH MORE! So, tune in LIVE at 8pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

At 9pm ET, the 30th episode of A Metsian Podcast arrives, and we welcome Mets Daddy to the show to talk about the dumpster fire!

John, aka Mets Daddy, has a website of the same name, which was created in June 2015 at his wife’s recommendation because she tired of him complaining about Terry Collins and the Mets after each loss (she’s not a baseball fan). From there, He's been fortunate enough to write for MetsMerized Online and become an editor for Mets Minors Net.

We'll recap the Phillies series, which went oh so swimmingly. We'll discuss the fallout of the Mickey Callaway/Jason Vargas incident involving Tim Healey, and the apologies (and non-apologies) that followed.

Is Brodie Van Wagenen really calling the shots in-game via text from home? What would be the ramifications if these accusations turned out true?

Can ANYTHING be done about this dreadful bullpen?

Why is Robinson Cano SO bad and why do they insist on hitting him 3rd? 4.5 more years of THIS??

Those topics plus MUCH more. We'll also look back on the players in Mets history to wear #30.

At 8pm ET, A Metsian Podcast is back for its 29th regular episode! Faith and Fear in Flushing's Greg Prince joins us to help recap the first two series of this 11-game road trip before the Mets honor the Miracle of '69 next weekend.

Along with wrapping up the Cubs series, we'll discuss the Mets big change this past week, firing pitching coach Dave Eiland and hiring 82-year-old Phil Regan. Though the age is obviously an eyesore from a PR perspective, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders in relating to the modern pitcher and incorporating the new wave of analytics to the way he coaches a staff that has clearly underperformed. After the first 4 games with him at the helm, how do we perceive the change?

The fielding has been atrocious, as they have the least amount of chances out there yet lead the NL in errors. One of the culprits has been the regression of Amed Rosario at shortstop, and they may be combatting that by getting him reps in center field. Is this just yet another example of fitting a square peg into a round hole or could Rosario actually have a future out there with no one having run away with the CF positon?

Pete Alonso today broke Darryl Strawberry's rookie record with his 27th HR...and less than halfway through. He could be making a run at the ML rookie record, let alone the Mets full season HR record. Let's just continue to bask in how awesome Alonso has been.

And McNeil just keeps McNeilin'. He got the day off Sunday but is hitting .342 on the season. Do we think he will make the All-Star team?

And along with discussing the players to wear number 29 in Mets history, we'll reminisce on the 1969 Mets with the weekend coming up and the Cubs series reminding us of their rivalry that magical year.

So, join us at 8pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

At 9pm ET, A Metsian Podcast will be LIVE with our 27th episode! Taryn "The Coop" Cooper of "My Summer Family" joins us to talk about..who else? The New York Mets!

Well, with last night's win, the Mets are 1/5 of the way to matching their win total of 2018's June. Obviously, 6 wins this month will still be rather miserable, and it seems unlikely they will be as bad as they were, but Mickey Callaway and Co. have to figure out how to go through this month with a better formula for success than they have been putting together as of late. We'll discuss some strategies we think they need to take to do so, you know, other than the overall strategy of not blowing the leads they keep having.

Robinson Cano was rushed back from the IL and proceeded to re-aggravate his injured quad. Why do the Mets keep rushing these players back from injury? Have they seriously not learned by now?

That plus much, much more! Including a look at the players to wear number 27 in their history.

LIVE at 9pm ET, A Metsian Podcast Memorial Day Weekend Special is here! Once more, there isn't a shortage of places to travel on this full service podcast.

On top of wrapping up the final results of the Nationals series, the heat was on Mickey Callaway entering the week after 5 straight losses. This prompted the "seal of approval" presser with Brodie Van Wagenen on Monday, while yet another flurry of Meddin' Jeff articles were written by the media, local and national alike. Just another year in the world of the Mets.

Injuries have lead to some shuffling of the roster. Of course, after getting heat for a perceived lack of hustle, Robinson Cano pulls a hammy legging out a double. Of course. Rajai Davis got called up after Brandon Nimmo was placed on the IL and immediately makes his presence felt with a 3-run home run to cap off a 6-run come-from-behind inning Wednesday night. What is to be expected of him and will he stick around?

Carlos Gomez has yet to truly make his presence felt with the bat though his notorious energy has been there both with on-the-field flare as well as cheerleading from the bench. He's been walking some so he hasn't been completely absent. Can he ever regain his Major League prowess?

Jeez, there's even MORE to cover! Yoenis Cespedes violently broke his ankle NOT falling off a horse, but apparently stepping incorrectly in a hole on his Port St. Lucie ranch. Is it time to completely write off him ever playing another inning for this team?

So much to cover, so little time! Join us at 9pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

LIVE at 9pm ET, episode 26 is here, and we are thrilled to welcome Bre from the blog, "That Mets Chick!" You can follow her on twitter @thatmetschick.

Bre is a 24 years old from Long Island. She fell in love with the game of baseball because of her dad and brother. She played 4 years of college softball, playing center field and right field (and had a cannon of an arm.) Her all time favorite Mets players are David Wright & Carlos Beltran, while her current favorite Mets players are Michael Conforto & Jeff McNeil. She started following the Mets in 2003 when Jose Reyes made his debut and has been following them ever since!

We'll first tackle results of the Nationals series, and will have some choice words regarding Wilmer Font being a starter right now regardless of today's outcome. He represents a budget option on a team expected to contend, so what mixed signals are the front office and the Wilpons sending here?

We'll touch on some roster issues such as Todd Frazier and Keon Broxton, and whether, with his opt out coming in June and him killing the ball in AAA, Carlos Gomez should eventually be on this team.

That and much, much more! We'll also talk the ballplayers to wear 26 in Mets history as well as the 1926 NY National League legacy.

A Metsian Podcast returns for our 25th episode! LIVE at 9pm ET, we welcome John Strubel of Mets Rewind to the podcast!

John Strubel publishes the team history website Mets Rewind, as well as its social media feed, @MetsRewind. He has spent 25+ years in broadcast media, freelance sports writing and minor league baseball.

The Mets are coming off of a horrendous 1-5 road trip that saw them fall to 17-20 on the year. Dominic Smith was sent down for backup shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, and while it's clear they needed a better spell for Amed Rosario at shortstop, was sending down their backup 1st baseman and key bench piece truly the best move? Jed Lowrie is also slated to come off the IL shortly, so who is the odd man out when that decision reaches a junction?

That plus much more! We'll, as always, delve into Mets history by exploring the players to wear number 25 for the Mets over the years.

So, join us at 9pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike comes at you LIVE at 9pm ET! We are thrilled on this episode to be welcoming Mets Newsday reporter Tim Healey to the program!

Tim Healey is in his second season covering the Mets for Newsday, and before that he covered the Marlins for the South Florida Sun Sentinel. A Connecticut native and Boston University grad, Tim is a proud New Englander but has taken a liking to living in New York City.

The Reds series wraps up today at noon and we'll recap our thoughts on the up and down 4 game series for the Mets. Jacob deGrom pitched his lights out, seemingly back to form. The offense, however, reverted back to not supporting our ace. Will he ever get the support he deserves?

Our closer Edwin Diaz, albeit in a tie game each time, took his first 2 losses of the year. As much as logic dictates you want your best reliever out there in those situations, they continuously have a tendency to pitch less than stellar. Should managers continue to run their closers out there in tie games?

Meanwhile, our former closer turned 8th inning man Jeurys Familia blew the save on Edwin Diaz's offday and was subsequently placed on the IL with shoulder soreness. Has his issues this year all been injury based or just a case of not handling the transition to his new role?

That plus much, much more! We'll also naturally talk about the players to wear number 24 in Mets history, and briefly the NY NL legacy year of 1924.

So, join us at 9pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

A Metsian Podcast turns 23! LIVE at 9pm ET, we return to regroup on another day off after an optimistic series win against the Phillies. Along with Sam, Rich and Mike, Sam's Uncle Stan from Brooklyn joins to discuss his baseball history growing up in Brooklyn and what he thinks so far of the 2019 team.

Things were looking good for the first two games against the Phillies after a stumble some on the road, but after throwing behind their slugger, Rhys Hoskins, the Phillies soundly handled the Mets in the final game of the series. Do we think this year's rivalry with the team of brotherly love could get even uglier as the season goes on?

The Mets straight up passed on Gio Gonzalez. With Jason Vargas only giving them 4-5 innings, was this a smart move?

That and much more! Plus, we'll discuss the players to wear 23 in Mets history as well as the 1923 NY NL legacy seasons.

We’re back with the first regular A Metsian Podcast of the season, LIVE at 9pm ET! Today, we are thrilled to welcome the composer of our theme song, Mets fan Adam Spiegel!

On top of his passion for the Mets, Adam is also a musician, composer, music director & actor. He's the lead singer & keyboard player for the band Brain Salt & also sings and plays keys for the bands Hide & Seek & Comic Tales of Tragic Heartbreak. He has written music, lyrics & book material for the musicals Cloned!, Camp Rolling Hills & The Whole Megillah. You can find more info on his website.

Well, as usual, there have been ups, downs, & everything inbetween in the first 18 games of the season. Both the bullpen and the starting pitching have struggled so far. What are certain solutions Brodie Van Wagenen can take to immediately address the issues? Yes, signing both Dallas Keutchel & Craig Kimbrel can be thrown out there as answers. The offense was on fire to begin the season but has since cooled down. Both Robinson Cano and Brandon Nimmo have struggled so far. How concerned are we about either of them and can you keep running Nimmo out there in the leadoff as the strikeouts keep piling on?

This plus much more! And we’ll explore the Mets to wear 22 in their history as well as the 1922 NY National League campaign.

We’re almost to the end of the warm up period of the season as the real deal of Mets baseball is upon us! Opening Day is in one week and we at A Metsian Podcast cannot wait for the season to begin.

To help us celebrate the end of Spring Training, we welcome “Catching Heat’s” Helen Silfin to the program, LIVE at 9pm ET!

Helen has been a Mets fan for as long as she can remember and despite her best efforts does not anticipate that changing anytime soon. She is particularly loyal to defense-first catchers. When Helen is not watching or talking about the Mets she is probably geeking out about theatre, baking cookies, or doing both at once on her @BroadwayCookies instagram account.

Will both Dominic Smith and Pete Alonso, who have each had excellent springs, come north with the team? How exposed at center field are the Mets with neither Juan Lagares nor Keon Bronxton lighting it up? Is it possible the Mets will bring 3 catchers north with them? Which players will the infield depth bring us? Which 5 outfielders will head north with us? And what are we thinking about the new Netflix pricing model?

So many burning questions, so little time! Can’t wait to discuss it with Helen Silfin LIVE at 9pm ET on the latest edition of a Metsian Podcast!

The season is inching closer and closer and we couldn’t be more excited over at A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike! And we are thrilled to have Gotham Baseball’s founder and Executive Editor Mark Healey on the program today, LIVE at 9pm ET!

Mark has been covering the Mets for a variety of media outlets since 1996, including the Associated Press, Baseball Digest, and SiriusXM. He's currently the Editor In Chief of The Wave newspaper in Rockaway Beach. Later this year, his first book, "Gotham Baseball: Legends of the New York Game" will be published by The History Press.

Jacob deGrom recently said he’s optimistic they can get an extension done. Do fans share in that optimism? Does Jason Vargas’s low spring ERA preclude them from going after the two big pitching free agents still out there, Gio Gonzalez and Dallas Keuchel? With ToddFrazier working his way back from injury and Carlos Gomez almost ready to insert himself into the outfield depth, is the saying, “You can never have too much depth” more important than ever? Or is a logjam abrewin’?

All that and more LIVE at 9pm ET on the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike!

We're getting into the thick of 2019 Mets Spring Training and A Metsian Podcast is revved up for the final push to the 2019 season!

The Mets, shocker, did not sign Bryce Harper but will have to continue to deal with him for potentially the next 13 years with him heading up 95 to Philadelphia. General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen cited depth and "spreading the funds around" as the reason to not make one big splash. As we've discussed on this podcast ad nasuem, however, the positive ramifications of such a signing were immediately felt in the Phillies box office and in jersey sales within the first 24 hours of the signing. This conversation has us spinning in circles, with the feeling of the Wilpons keeping us in baseball purgatory. Depth is desperately needed, and the Mets roster has already been tested, but couldn't we...have our cake and eat it too?

LIVE at 8pm ET, join us for the piping hot, mid-Spring-Traiing Mets talk on the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

The moment Mets fans have all been waiting for has arrived! If it's February, that means the countdown to pitchers and catchers has ended and images of the early incarnation of the 2019 Mets, and GM Brodie Van Wagenen's first spring at the helm, have begun to pour in.

At 8pm ET, the guys at a Metsian Podcast revel in the figurative sunshine while the cold continues to linger in the tristate. What is BVW looking for during his first spring? What kind of motivation do the Mets have to get a deal with Jacob deGrom prior to Opening Day with two years still till free agency? What kind of attention does Tim Tebow really deserve? Jeff McNeil to the outfield? Did Yoenis Cespedes see his shadow? Any other players we would bring into camp? Well...I guess that last one was a set up for whoever wants to hashtag #SignBryceHarper with both he and Machado still out there.

Baseball, and METS baseball at that, is upon us. Are you ready?

The hot stove is glowing bright orange as Brodie Van Wagenen shifts his off-season plan into high gear.  In his first major transaction as general manager of the Mets, BVW creates headlines by securing slugging second baseman Robinson Cano and relief pitcher Edwin Diaz from the Seattle Mariners.  Meanwhile, trade rumors involving Noah Syndergaard abound.  Although unpleasant, there are also players unfortunately being caught in the shuffle to whom we must bid adieu.  In the meantime, the Mets have added a bench coach, and in a very underrated move, signed Allard Baird, who previously worked with the Red Sox, to be assistant GM and vice president of player personnel and development.  Times are a 'changing, folks.  Sam and Mike are on it.  A Metsian Podcast returns this evening to discuss these issues, and more.  Please join Sam and Mike at 9pm (EST).  As always, you're welcome to phone in and join the conversation @ 646-787-1919.

As if there were any doubt.  With the exception of a lone sports writer from San Diego, the BWAA confirmed on Wednesday what New York Mets fans have been saying all summer.  Jacob deGrom this season was baseball's best pitcher.  He wins the National League's 2018 Cy Young award in a landslide, claiming 29 of 30 first place votes.  As such, he becomes the second Mets pitcher this decade, and the fourth pitcher in Mets history, to receive baseball's award for pitching excellence.  A Metsian Podcast this evening invites you to join them for an amazin' celebration of Jacob's deGromination.  Host Mike Lecolant will be joined by feature guest, author and proprietor of Faith and Fear in Flushing, Greg Prince.  Schedule permitting, Gary McDonald of Mets Musings will join the show in progress ... from a Metsian Podcast's lips to Joan Whitney Payson's ears.  The show starts at 9:00pm (EST), sharp!  Of course, you're welcome to phone-in and join the discussion @ 646-787-1919

A Metsian Podcast returns LIVE at 9pm ET to break down the hiring of former agent Brodie Van Wagenen as General Manager of the New York Mets!

Some see it as a step in the right direction. BVW, as some are abbreviating, was very braggadocio during his presser, and appears confident in his potential as well as the teams. Still, there are some who see this as more of the same with Jeff Wilpon hiring someone he’s close to and familiar with. We’ll attempt to break it down from all angles and opinions involved.

We’ll also touch on the death of baseball icon Willie McCovey of the San Francisco Giants.

Though bittersweet, it is a time of celebration with David Wright Week the theme of the final homestand. We’ll discuss his place in Mets history as well as some of our favorite Wright moments

And speaking of Mets history, we’ll talk about the players to wear number 21 during the franchise’s run, as well as the 1921 NL NY and Yankee (briefly) seasons.

Join Sam, Rich, and Mike for the 20th episode of a Metsian Podcast at 7:00 pm on September 16th. We'll talk about the Mets late season push, which has been rather nice to watch. However, their ace, Jacob deGrom, remains 8-9, though he possesses the lowest ERA in the major leagues at 1.78. On September 16th, he locked up with Chris Sale in an epic matchup. And to no one's surprise, deGrom walked away with a no decision.

In addition, we'll talk about the resurgence of Michael Conforto. We'll hit on the emergence of of Amed Rosario. We'll ask the questions that need to be asked as we get ready for the off-season. Do the Mets have something great with Syndergaard, Wheeler, deGrom, and Matz? Should one of them be moved to bring back some needed pieces? How about the catching position? Is Kevin Plawecki the answer?

And of course, there was drama this week that we'll discuss. What the heck was Tom (Jackpot) Hallion doing when he stood on the plate after Todd Frazier's walk off? What the heck was Frazier doing when he admitted duping the umpires?

We'll take a look back at baseball in New York in 1920, and wax poetic about the Mets to have worn number 20. There will be some other topics too, making for a full hour of Mets chat. So give us a call or join the fun by listening in!

September has rolled around, and though we cannot have playoffs specific meaningful games in September, that doesn’t mean things can’t get exciting. We at A Metsian Podcast will always continue to watch through and through every September, because there is never short of things to see and talk about.

At 8:30 PM ET, Mike Lecolant and Rich Sparago will queue up the 19th episode of A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich & Mike. We will discuss the Mets West Coast trip and the successes on that round, as well as Noah Syndergaard‘s first career complete game.  Jacob deGrom broke Dwight Gooden’s major-league record with his 25th consecutive start of giving up three earned runs or less. Is there anything else we can say about the man? Of course there is.

Zack Wheeler’s ERA continues to go down.  The rotation has been pretty darn good lately, hasn’t it?

It sounds like father and son Fred and Jeff are at odds about the type of GM we should have going forward. What would we like to see happen, now that we have that information out there? Who knows how true it is, but it’s definitely something different we can talk about instead of our usual Wilpon’s hateful bashing.

And as always, we will look back in history at the Mets players to where number 19, as well as the 1919 New York Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, and New York Yankees.

So, make sure you join us at 8:30 PM ET for the latest addition of A Metsian Podcast with Sam Rich & Mike!

A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike turns 18 episodes old LIVE at 9pm ET and what better time than then to talk about the 2018 New York Mets?

While we still like watching baseball and seeing the Mets win games, so much of what is to come in September has to do with evaluating for the future. And yet, we continue to look towards the past with David Wright attempting to stave off his eventual future for a few more baseball games. Who could blame him? He deserves every right to do so (see I didn’t fall for the pun like I did in the Podcast  title?) and knowing David, he may have just a bit of magic left in the tank. And is all of this just to sell some extra tickets with the possibility of Wright at 3rd and Reyes at short?

The Mets continue to tool with their best prospects, and after tugging Dominic Smith left and right, Pete Alonso, having an excellent season at first base in the minors, will not get a September callup. How do we feel about this?

Will the real Jason Vargas please stand up?

With Todd Frazier and Jay Bruce back in the lineup, how will this affect Michael Conforto?

And much, much more, including our own look at the past with thoughts on the players to wear 18 in Mets history, along with a retrospective on the 1918 NY NL squads (and a brief word on Dos Yanks)

So, join Mike Lecolant and Sam Maxwell as they bring the 18th edition of A Metsian Podcast at 9pm ET!

As we wait to see if the Mets can score any runs for the “Winless Wonder” Jacob deGrom, we gather to assemble the 17th edition of A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike.

The Mets have been playing slightly better of late, magnifying to some how June’s 5-21 record killed this team. What can the Mets do, other than the obvious “Sell the Team,” to stop having such devastating stretches?

Jeff McNeil is on a tear, having just come 1 hit shy of the club record for consecutive bats hitting safely. What other young talent is their to look forward to and how do you balance development at the majors with winning games

And we’ll explore players to wear number 17 in Mets history, as well as the 2017 team and the 1917 NYNL legacies.

So, join us at 8:30pm ET for the latest edition in A Metsian Podcast!

To the dismay of some, and the satisfaction of others, the Mets stay relatively quiet at the trade deadline.  This of course brings into question the organization's future plans and direction.  In the meantime, fans bid farewell to bullpen closer Jeurys Familia, and to one of the team's more endearing players over the last few years, Asdrubal Cabrera.  However, a few new names are changing the narrative of late at Citi Field.  Austin Jackson is providing the Mets a lift in center field, while Las Vegas call-up Jeff McNeil has many wondering if the Mets have found their second baseman of the future.  Also, both David Wright and Jay Bruce are on the comeback trail, while Jacob deGrom continues his bid to win the Cy Young award.  And wouldn't you know, here we are in the dog days of summer, and the Mets are suddenly playing up to expectations - too late?  A Metsian Podcast will touch em all.  Michael Lecolant will host Thursday's evening's Metsian Podcast, and will be joined by MetsMusings.com's Gary McDonald.  They'll additionally take some time to discuss the Brooklyn Cyclones, and delve into players who've worn #16 in Mets history.  The show starts 8:00pm sharp, EST.  Of course, you're always welcome to call and join the discussion @ 646-787-1919.  #LGM

Tonight at 8:30pm ET, Faith and Fear in Flushing's Greg Prince joins A Metsian Podcast to discuss the Mets approaching 2nd half.

How should the Mets handle the next couple of weeks leading up to the trading deadline? Should they sell everybody or try for long-term deals with some of their most valuable assets? Where does Mickey Callaway need to improve in his rookie managerial season? What are you most looking to salvage from this season in the 2nd half, other than a potential but unrealistic miracle run?

We'll discuss those topics then some when it comes to the 2018 Mets...

but with the episode number being 15, this gives us an opportunity to look back on not only the Mets to wear 15 in their uniformed history, but also the 2015 New York Mets. That'll be a bittersweet joy.

Last but not least, we'll take a trip 103 years in the past to the New York baseball history of 1915.

The Mets finish their first-half with a four game split against the Washington Nationals at Citi Field.  Only problem is the Nats appear less of a problem for them, to date, than presently do the Phillies and Braves.  Who saw that coming?  The Mets have played some better baseball at certain points in the recent past, but overall we all know their performance has been far from inspiring.  In fact, it has been the extreme opposite. With just two weeks left before the non-waiver trade deadline, the Triumvirant of Flushing should already be formulating a plan of action, as well as necessary contingencies.  We at a Metsian Podcast come together on this final baseball evening before the All-Star break to asses the damage and figure out where they go from here.  However, not before we honor the club's lone All-Star, Jacob deGrom, owner of an MLB best 1.68 ERA.  Who are your Mets first-half all-stars, and who in your eyes fails to shine?  It is indeed time for a break, and the Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich, and Mike, will kick it off this evening at 7:00pm (EST).  The number to call is 646-787-1919.  #LGM

East Side, West Side, everybody is going mad.  It's only the first day of Summer, yet the media, fans, and the organization itself are already contemplating yet another rebuild.  This is certainly a ponderous and somewhat unexpected state of affairs.  Sam, Rich and Mike will discuss the merits or folly of such thinking, and if in fact the Mets can get themselves healthy and straightened out before the trade deadline.  Until then the emergence of Brandon Nimmo begs the question: is he a legitimate all-star candidate?  However there's no debating Jacob deGrom's credentials.  Despite the Mets present standing, his stellar season can not go underspoken.  Who else on this Mets team is a keeper, and who should go?  Join the crew this evening at 8:30pm (EST) as they tackle these Amazin matters and more, on Episode #12 of A METSian Podcast.  Of course, you're always welcome to call @ 646-787-1919.  #LGM

Exascerbated by what will be the usual yet all too fresh gripes with our favorite franchsie, the New York Mets, A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike has decided to do the show backwards today. We'll also throwback to the 1911 Dodgers and Giants.

And then...I guess the inevitable rants about Jeff W, and Sandy, and oh, Hell...We love complaining about this stuff don't we?

All the good feelings from the 11-1 start have all but dissolved away and the Mets are staring down the barrel of 8 losses in the last 9 games. There's no if's and's or but's about it...from bottom up the organization has been performing pitifully.

Why? Is it the manager's inexperience? Underperformance from parts of the roster? The state of the roster itself? All of the above?

My Summer Family's Taryn "The Coop" Cooper joins Metsian's Rich Sparago to break down all of this, as well as preview the Phillies series.

Plus, of course, we'll discuss the players to wear number 10 in New York Mets history along with remembering the 2010 New York Mets (The 2009 New York Mets were one of our LEAST FAVORITE Mets teams so much that we pretended on the last episode they never existed! :D)

So, join us at 9pm ET for the latest edition of A Metsian Podcast!

We're still pinching ourselves, but we're pretty sure it is true that the 2018 Mets have a 10-1 record, the best start the franchise has ever had. Tonight on A Metsian Podcast, Greg Prince of Faith and Fear in Flushing joins Rich Sparago and Mike Lecolant to get a little giddy about it, though we know nothing is perfect...

Manager Mickey Callaway has so far had the golden touch...is there any reason to doubt it won't continue?

The catching platoon looked like it may fall into place with Kevin Plawecki and Travis d'Arnaud, but now it is looking like TDA will have to have Tommy John Surgery. Should the Mets trade for a catcher?

The "Fab 5" finally had a full rotation cycle together and the Mets went 5-0. How will they handle Zack Wheeler once Jason Vargas is ready to go?

All that and more on this offday edition of A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike!

A Metsian Podcast with Sam, Rich and Mike reconvenes this Spring Training to talk about how, well, nothing seems to be different this spring...Vargas now has an injury, Same Yoenis Cespedes injury drama, this time in the form of a cortisone shot...I could go on and on.  But could we expect a snap of the finger to fix the dysfunctionality? No. That is a process, and that process will have bumps and bruises...but maybe we'll get there?

There is some good news on the horizon as it seems Michael Conforto is ahead of schedule...but The Juan Lagares situation is as foggy as ever and Rafael Montero is still on the team. Oy.

Well, anyway, join us at 2pm ET and we'll discuss some Metsian stuff on this Sunday afternoon.

We'll talk about how the pitching has looked so far (Noah hitting triple digitis regularly, Harvey hitting 96). And of course, we'll discuss the pulse coming from PSL (how about Mickey mixing it up with the fans?).
