Something really paramount I found in my People Pleasing Recovery was eliminating the detrimental habit of giving people the benefit of the doubt. This one practice played one of the biggest roles in my people pleasing tendencies and kept me in a cycle of abandoning myself and my boundaries.
Understanding the roots of people pleasing helped me to begin walking the path of recovery, calling back my power, and taking ownership of my life. These same acknowledgements are what I use in my mentoring practice to help my clients walk through people pleasing recovery as well.
A friend once shared with me the quote, "Expectations are the thief of joy," and that really stuck with me. When you learn to properly manage your expectations, you eliminate the feeling of failure and can more effectively create joyful success.
Learn to expand your perspective when viewing your life. There is always a balance. Always an ebb & flow. And balance helps to alleviate a good deal of discomfort and that nagging sense of failure.
