In this episode, we delve into the concept of the inner critic, that persistent voice within us all that often wants to keep us perpetually busy. We also reflect on where in our lives we have rules. What actions would we take if we weren't afraid of perceived future outcomes and emotions?

In this solo episode, I delve into the profound teachings of Michael Singer's renowned book, "The Untethered Soul." This book has helped me gain invaluable insights into the nature of the mind and the art of observing our thoughts. I've been dipping in and out of his teachings for over seven years, and the realisation 'I am not defined by my thoughts' has profoundly impacted my personal and professional life.

"In the end, enjoying life's experiences is the only rational thing to do. You're sitting on a planet spinning around in the middle of absolutely nowhere. You're floating in empty space in a universe that goes on forever. If you're going to be here, be happy and enjoy the experience."

In this episode, we explore:

· Allowing emotions to flow through us, navigating life's challenges with grace and resilience.

· The transformative power of contemplating death and cultivating a deeper appreciation for the present moment.

· Mastering the art of being the observer, gaining clarity and inner peace by freeing ourselves from the constant chatter of the mind.

· Understanding the relationship between manifestation and time, emphasising the importance of patience and trust on the path to success.

· Breaking free from limiting labels and consciously choosing the emotions we want to experience, empowering us to shape our reality.

In today’s episode I cover:

Have you experienced a resistance or avoidance to slowing down or finding it hard to do so because you’re always in your head?

So many of us have been taught to avoid being in the body or ‘stay busy’ or distracted, that we are out of touch with our feelings and it can feel scary to slow down and just be with it all.

Part of my journey of not being so active every second of the day, is that I have learnt to feel what’s going on in my body…and it’s been a process!

In today's episode I cover a few things that I've learned and it does include switching off with a short guided meditation, something I've learned just very recently, which I'm finding really useful. So just fair warning, at the end of the episode, just find some time and some space and if you listen to my podcast in the car, come back to this episode!

In todays episode I cover:

  • How to feel your feelings and sensations and listen to your body
  • Tips for creating and maintaining a calm, happy and regulated state
  • How the breath can help us move our emotions
  • How to tune into your intuition
  • The power of not needing to fix things
  • Switching awareness between physical sensations, emotions, feelings and thoughts

So there's a whole spectrum of how we feel and regardless of where you are in that spectrum, it's such a great skill to learn how to be okay and comfortable with feelings and sensations that come up, knowing that they're not going to kill you!

In todays episode I talk about:

  • How to recognise what is best to outsource in your life and how to do it.
  • How I started outsourcing my work.

How to Speak Your Truth and Honour Your Needs

As we head into a new year, it is a time of reflection for many. Towards the end of 2022, I went through a breakup with my partner and I am still in the process of processing that and harnessing the lessons.

I love those kinds of challenging moments, because they're the moments of growth, and I thought I would record an episode for you, to share some of my reflections so far.

What I talk about and some questions to ask yourself if you are in a similar position:

  • The importance of speaking your truth and not abandoning yourself in relationships.
  • Am I in a hustle mode because I’m putting other people’s needs above my own?
  • Where are you putting yourself second and making yourself feel worse by trying to please others?
  • How do you go about expressing and getting what you need?
  • Identifying if we are still operating from early childhood wounding.
  • If we’re trying to please or fit in, we aren’t doing what we are supposed to be on the planet doing.
  • What happens when you step more into your truth.
  • Why you have to claim what you want

Do you naturally sit in a more feminine energy?

It’s ok to do business in a more feminine way!

This weeks episode is inspired by a conversation I recently had with my beautiful friend who is quite a feminine energy person and she conducts her business from this place.

I talk about:

  • The shift from hustle-hunt to trusting listening to my intuition.
  • The feminine vs masculine way of working or conducting your business
  • Working in a male-oriented environment
  • Finding a balance between both masculine and feminine that feels in alignment for you

The feminine way of business is a softening, a slowing down and listening to your intuition - allowing yourself to receive, so you're not going out and hunting, you're allowing opportunities to come to you.

Let this be your permission to do just that and to tap into divine timing and flow.

Most of the time, our thoughts are what cause us a lot of stress. They have us running around like headless chickens taking unnecessary actions and causing drama and stress.

I think if we start talking about how the mind functions, how the intuition functions, and give you some examples of my learning around this, it will give us a better approach to follow our intuition, be aware of our negative thought and know not to take action on them and generally have less stress in the things that we do.

In this episode, I dive into:

  • Understanding the mind, how it wants to keep you safe, and why.
  • Exploring the ideas in Michael Singer’s book 'The Untethered Soul' https://untetheredsoul.com, about offsetting the mind with different thoughts and the concept of being the awareness in our lives.
  • An example from my life where I followed thoughts that weren’t helpful.
  • Why intuition can work differently for different people.
  • The importance of taking slow moments in your life.

I hope you find the learnings that I share in this episode helpful and it provides you with an insight into how your mind works and understand that from an intuitive perspective, the more we can quiet our minds, the more clarity we will have to make decisions for ourselves.

Welcome to the Slow Down and Thrive podcast! A bit more about me and my journey.

There's so much conversation around: if you work really hard, you're going to get to where you want to go. And while of course, that's true, I really believe there's a different way and easier way.

I've definitely worked hard, I've done the hustle, I've been burned out, I've had adrenal fatigue, and come out the other side, having learnt a lot. And having learned how to work with my energy, how to rest when I need to rest, how to work smarter, not harder, and still have a really beautiful thriving life and business.

In this first episode I dive into:

  • How to listen to ourselves more and not the conditioning that we may have learned from our parents, that narrative that’s really been running the show that just isn’t true for us
  • A bit more about me and my journey from burnt out business owner to slowing down and thriving and what that’s looked like
  • Working with alignment of our energy, knowing when to take action, knowing when's the right time to move on things and knowing when's the right time to just stop.
  • Do you need rest or are you just procrastinating?
  • Why I’m no longer scared of Mondays, trusting the ebb and flow and what my days and weeks look like now
  • The importance of mindset, listening to our bodies, our own intuition and how COVID and lockdowns played a part in this unfolding for me

So you may be at the start of a business, you might be in the middle of running a business, you might work for someone else, you might not work at all. But I think it's a conversation that is for everyone.

Welcome to the Slow Down and Thrive podcast!

Are you constantly feeling like you're in hustle mode on the brink of burnout and wondering if there is a better way? My name is Kim and I’m here to tell you that there is! You CAN slow down and thrive at the same time - in fact the more I rested, the more my business grew!

As a small business owner over the last 12 years I fell into the trap of constantly hustling to make things happen, to achieve, to succeed and…I burnt myself out in the process.

After a few helpful shoves from the universe (and honestly out of complete necessity!) I changed the way I operated over the last 3 years and I quickly learnt that I didn’t have to hustle in order to make my business work!

My journey is what has inspired this podcast - to share with you everything I’ve learnt (and continue to learn!), in the hope that maybe your journey can be a little smoother and you can live a more beautiful, calm and abundant lifewithout the burnout and constant ‘busy-ness’.

I’ll be covering a range of topics each week including:

  • How to deal with the fears and feelings that come up around slowing down
  • Following your intuition instead of what you feel you should be doing and what your brain is convincing you of that is on your ‘to do list’
  • Money mindset so you can thrive, take aligned action and knowing how and when to do so (without the unnecessary efforting)
  • The difference between resting and procrastination

…and so much more!

Be sure to hit subscribe, leave a review and I’m really looking forward to exploring this way of life with you.
