Civil Air Patrol
This podcast is for members of the Civil Air Patrol. It is an audio version of the book Learning to Lead. If you are just starting with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Season 1 is for you! If you have been with the Civil Air Patrol for a while, you may want to focus on the season that is connected to your upcoming promotion!
Section 6 of Chapter 1 Objectives: Identify what is the root of all military customs and courtesies. Explain why rendering customs and courtesies is not a mark of inferiority. Describe how customs and courtesies affect team spirit. Describe the origins of the salute. Outline basic rules for rendering common military customs and courtesies.
Section 5 of Chapter 1 Objectives: Explain what an oath is. Recite the Cadet Oath from memory. Describe what the Cadet Oath means, in your own words.
Section 8 of Chapter 1 Objective: Explain why drill and ceremonies helps cadets develop leadership skills. Demonstrate how to perform basic in-place drill commands.
Section 4 of Chapter 1 Objectives: Describe the concept of self-awareness. Describe the concept of self-discipline and explain what you can do to develop it. Describe the concept of attitude and explain why attitudes are contagious. Describe what you can do to develop a positive attitude.
Section 9 of Chapter 1 Objective: Explain what a chain of command is. Describe ways in which a chain of command promotes teamwork. Describe what “jumping the chain” means and why it is to be avoided. Identify the main elements of the CAP chain of command and place them in the proper sequence.
Section 3 of Chapter 1 Objectives: Describe what "core values" are. Identify and describe each of CAP's four Core Values Defend the idea that a cadet's character ought to be held to a high standard.

Section 2 of Chapter 1 Objectives: Explain what a "warrior" is in the context of the "warrior spirit". Describe the hallmarks of the "warrior spirit." Identify three benefits of having a warrior spirit.
Section 7 of Chapter 1 Objectives: Describe what usefulness the uniform has as a leadership training tool. Explain why the concept of image is important when wearing the uniform. Defend the idea that wearing the uniform is a privilege. Identify cadet grade insignia.
