Matthew 28: 16 - 20; Acts 1 - 7 - 8

"When they saw him, they worshipped him, but some doubted" (Matthew 28:17). The resurrection story as told from all four gospels has the disciples of Jesus - those who walked with him from the beginning - doubting the experience. And yet, these are the people Jesus sends out into the world " to make disciples."

How do we go about inviting people to join us on the way of Jesus?

Someone once said, “Speak when you are angry, and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.”

Before you say something you regret, examine your motives. Going into the conversation, ask yourself what is it that you want out of the situation?

The bible says, “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

The words you speak will bring value or destruction to your relationship. If you want the relationship to be healthy, pay attention to your words.

A good practice before you enter into a difficult conversation is to clarify what you want, clarify what you really don’t want, and speak only the words that move the relationship in a positive direction.

A healthy conversation will move any relationship beyond winning and losing.

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Jesus spoke those words from the cross on Good Friday.

Here is a man who was born under a star. He was food for those who were hungry. He was medicine for the sick. People followed him like children. Twice in his life, he heard a voice from heaven say, “You are my son, my beloved.”

And at this moment, he felt abandoned. I wish I could articulate all the reasons for Good Friday. I simply cannot. What I can say is because of his abandonment, we are not abandoned.

The reality of Good Friday is that Jesus demonstrates a love that is more powerful than death.

If you feel forsaken, look to Jesus, who won’t let even silence from heaven stand in the way of his love for you.
