The conversation further dives into the common pitfalls companies face when they fail to identify their core customer, leading to short-term tactical decisions rather than a cohesive, long-term vision.

In this episode, my guest and I dive into the critical aspects of planning business exits, emphasizing the need for consistency and structure. The episode highlights the importance of preparing for exit strategies 3-5 years in advance to ensure predictability in valuation. The role of strategic planning and advisors in facilitating this process is vital.

A key point is the significance of having a structured advisory board, even for small businesses, to maintain accountability and effective planning. This team, including CPAs, financial planners, and attorneys, plays a pivotal role in guiding business owners through the nuances of exit strategy, offering valuable advice on tax and financial matters to position them for a successful negotiation and minimize risks.

We also explore various exit strategies, with a particular focus on the benefits of an options strategy over a single-event exit. This approach, backed by expert advice from CPAs, attorneys, tax advisors, and financial wealth advisors, aims to prevent regrets in the sale process.

In this insightful episode, I team up with Roxanne Coffelt, an experienced CPA and business advisor, to tackle the complexities of financial management and business valuation for small businesses.

We start by addressing common financial pitfalls that business owners face, such as inadequate bookkeeping and financial management, which can lead to significant issues like IRS audits. I highlight the importance of understanding and optimizing the eight key drivers of business value, as outlined in the Value Builder System, focusing on aspects like financial performance, growth potential, and the diversification of revenue streams.

We also explore, among other topics, the concept of recurring revenue and its influence on business valuation, using practical examples like security companies with ongoing services.

Wrapping up the episode, we delve into the different approaches to business valuation, clarifying the distinction between valuation and calculation. Roxanne stresses the importance of considering a range of value drivers, including management depth and industry trends, in any valuation process. We also highlight the significance of clear agreements among business owners on valuation and sale processes, especially in multi-owner scenarios.

Roxanne wraps up by advising listeners on the importance of long-term exit planning and maintaining robust financial statements.

Roxanne Coffelt graduated cum laude from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1986 with an accounting degree. Shortly after she left behind 10 years working in the printing/publishing industry to go into public accounting.

After working for a local firm, a sole practitioner, and the “Big 6” firm Ernst & Young, Roxanne started her own practice in Des Moines in 1993.

In 1999, in anticipation of the printing plant where her husband worked closing, Roxanne sold her practice. She ended up relocating to Shanghai, China for two years.

Returning to the United States in 2004 brought Roxanne to Warsaw, Indiana. In 2010 she received her CVA (Certified Valuation Analyst) designation. After working for another firm for many years, she decided to establish her own practice in the fall of 2017.

After working for other firms, and watching people pay for financial statements that just end up filed in a drawer, Roxanne wanted to help her clients use the information in those statements to help improve their businesses.

In 2022 Roxanne became a Certified Value Builder.

Roxanne is married to her husband Bob of 38 years and has two grown children and two grandchildren. Daughter Kelsey is a board-certified behavior analyst and son Sheldon is currently in school after serving almost 7 years in the U.S. 3rd Infantry Regiment honor guard (The Old Guard) at Fort Myer/Arlington Cemetery.

In this episode, Jeff B Eschliman and I delve into the transformative power of personal growth and the search for balance through pivotal life moments. Jeff recounts a critical juncture in his life at 38, spurred by a revealing doctor's appointment. This incident became a catalyst for an "awakening" in 2008, altering his view of success and life balance. Jeff's journey towards enhancing his physical and mental well-being is both inspiring and instructive. We introduce an intriguing perspective, advocating for harmony over balance in life, drawing parallels with the worlds of music and sports.

As the conversation progresses, I reflect on my past experiences with plate spinning, a metaphor for juggling multiple life goals, which often leads to burnout. To combat this, Jeff shares his unique "life harmony system," crafted from business processes, that helps prioritize personal and professional aspects of life. This system, which Jeff has been practicing for over a decade, includes a one-page life plan featuring core values, purpose statements, and monthly goals.

Jeff's "Day of Zen" concept, a dedicated monthly day for reflection away from work and family, is a key component of this strategy. The discussion also covers the importance of strategic life planning for business owners, particularly as they approach retirement, emphasizing intentionality and the creation of 'whitespace' in one's schedule.

Don't miss this episode if you're interested in learning about life harmony, strategic planning, and personal growth from seasoned professionals. Whether you're a business owner or simply someone seeking a more harmonious life, Jeff's insights and practical advice are invaluable.

Jeff Eschliman is a seasoned corporate veteran with over 30 years of experience and a profound understanding of the elusive concept of work-life balance. His journey is one of transformation and realization.

Once living what many would call a dream life - surviving a war, enjoying a lucrative career, extensive travels, and the comforts of a family and luxurious possessions - Jeff faced a turning point at age 38. In a routine doctor's appointment, he was confronted with a life-changing choice: accept a limiting prognosis or redefine his life on his own terms. Choosing the latter, Jeff embarked on a mission to help others do the same.

75% of business owners were unsatisfied with how they exited their business after a year removed. And 5% were not happy with the payout.

The research project that revealed those numbers led to a body of work that identified specific drivers of a happy exit. One such driver is called "Future Vision"

Future Vision is defined this way:

Why do you want to exit your business? What do you plan to do after you leave your business? Many owners decide to sell because they need to retire or take care of their health. Those are valid reasons to exit, but they do not necessarily lead to a satisfying result.

The key to maximizing your score on this driver is to become clear on what you are excited to pursue after you leave your business. You should consider what you are most looking forward to regarding life after your business.

That's what my guest and I talked about in this episode.

Diana C. Stephens, PhD is a holistic coach and has an extensive corporate business background spanning more than 35 years in sales, marketing and SaaS consulting for Fortune 500 companies in software, consumer products and apparel.

In today's episode, we're diving deep into a captivating business tale. The relationship between Alcoa and their vendor, LW Nash (the company my grandfather began), serves as a vivid illustration of the pitfalls a company can face when dependencies are unchecked. This story also showcases the importance and resilience of the Switzerland Structure from John Warrillow's Value Builder System.

The inherent risks of over-reliance on any single customer, vendor, or employee and the strategies businesses can employ to protect themselves.

"When one vendor knows too much, the power dynamics shift, and the risks for your business amplify."

"The Switzerland Structure isn't just a concept; it's a protective shield for businesses in an unpredictable marketplace."

Dependencies can be silent killers in a business ecosystem. But with awareness and proactive strategies, companies can navigate and mitigate these risks. Alcoa's tale serves as a powerful lesson and reminder of that. Keep serving strong and building a business that stands resilient in the face of challenges.

Always remember to safeguard your business against dependencies and ensure it's built for sustainability and strength.

Until our next episode, stay strong!

Stay with me here. We are going to delve into the world of manufacturing. You may be wondering, what in the world does manufacturing have to do with designing a fantastic 4th quarter? Well, my guest is all about asking why. And asking why is a powerful skill as you grow up.

Curiosity and reflection. These are skills that become increasingly important as we age. Without it, we enter the dark abyss of decline without helpful context.

Listen to what Ginette shares and ask yourself, "Am I recovering that curiosity and wonder I once had as a child?"

My guest, (and also a fellow Mission Matters podcast host) Dr. Ginette Collazo established Human Error Solutions (HES), a Florida based boutique consulting firm, where she has been able to position herself as one of the few Human Error Reduction Experts in the world.

Ginette is the author of the book Human Error: Root Cause Determination Model, published in 2008.

FDAnews has called her a “veteran of helping drug, biologic and device firms reduce manufacturing errors,” and the Caribbean Business describes her as “ the missing link in modern business.” Today her Error Reduction System has been implemented in all types of industries worldwide.

Planning for the future. It's a necessary part of growing up. Some might say it's a necessary evil and would rather just live by the seat on your pants.

But there is a distinct difference in living life by default and living life by design.

My guest has enough knowledge for a 4-hour episode. But we're going to keep it to the normal length and pick his brain for as much information as we can.

As you listen, be thinking about how you can make a few adjustments in your planning for your own future.

My guest, Brandon Blackford, has served as an Edward Jones financial advisor since 2011. He believes it’s important to invest his time to understand what you’re working toward before you invest your money. He also believes that it's important to understand the level of risk you're comfortable accepting when investing so we can balance it with the steps necessary to reach your long-term goals.

Brandon attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in financial management and marketing. Since joining Edward Jones, he has earned the CFP®, CIMA®, CLU®, AAMS® and CRPC® professional designations.

To get where you're going, you can travel by default and hope you get there, which is risky. Or you can travel by design and greatly increase the probability that you will go further, faster, and with deeper meaning.

In this episode, I pulled an excerpt from a recent coaching session I had with a client who was wrestling with the concept of setting goals.

Perhaps you can relate to my client. If so, I trust this will be a helpful episode for your journey.

So what's your story? What, what is it that brings you right to this episode? What have you been through? What have you experienced? Where have you failed? Where have you succeeded?

In this episode, my guest and I talk about how important stories are.

Why are we talking branding, marketing and sales on the server strong finish strong podcast? Well as because in our 40s and 50s, somewhere along the line we are going to be facing with big faced with change. monumental change. In many cases.

If you own a business, you may be stepping away from that business or selling that business. If you're an executive, you may have left the corporate world because you are either sick and tired of it or you're a victim of ageism, and you're thinking about that next adventure.

I believe there is an asset that you need to bring with you. As you either step away, sell your business or step into your own business. And that asset is your story.

My guest, Gunilla de Santo, is a detail-oriented big picture thinker and has had her fingers in a lot of creative pies. As a heartfelt and expressive storyteller, and with a love for all things visual, she has enjoyed a multifaceted career in arts and entertainment.

A native of Sweden, she started her career there as a dancer and back-up singer. After her move to the US, she became a promotions executive in the recording industry where she earned several gold records for her contributions.

She and her husband, Sam, are partners and Co-Creative Directors at S&G Studios, which is a boutique creative agency specializing in branding through storytelling. They help their clients stand out against the competition and attract their ideal clients by telling their unique story of who they are, what makes them special and why they should be hired.

Ah, the fountain of youth. You seek it because you don't want to miss out on life. You chase after purveyors of promises and potions only to find they don't work.

Well, we may be onto something that may just be what reverses our aging. Brian and I talk about that and the trinity of behaviors that are already a fountain of youth (a fountain we have carried around in our own back pocket all our lives).

He’s also co-founder of Digital Commerce Partners, a content marketing and SEO agency for digital business owners.

Disruptions happen in the most unusual ways. For me it was losing an entire career at age 50. For my guest, it was a combination of a couple of things. First, it was a growing sense in her heart that God was calling her to something different than architecture. Second, she was diagnosed with cancer.

Our discussion takes you through her journey and how it has shaped her 4th quarter so far.

Be encouraged that, regardless of your disruption, there is always hope.

Vicki Finney is Founder and Owner of Marketplace Rock. Her passion is to see the power of prayer alive and active in the marketplace; transforming businesses, people, and situations for God’s glory.

Vicki was formerly a member of the leadership team at Denver House of Prayer where she recognized that time spent in prayer for the business world was almost non-existent.

After 25+ years in the corporate world in architecture, the Lord began revealing the new path he had for her, including surviving cancer. It was during this cancer experience that God revealed his desire for a deeper relationship with her.

And it was through this same experience that he revealed a plan for intimacy with people in the marketplace.

This episode is primarily for the person "on the inside looking out." You're busy with your work (and you may even love what you're doing), but you have a growing compulsion to do something new, something different.

But you don't know where to start.

My conversation with Bill McGinnis might be just what you're looking for. Having grown a whitewater rafting company to a very successful endeavor over 38 years, he sold it off and is not writing novels full time.

We reflect on the rafting, rivers, selling a business, succeeding, failing, writing, procrastination, and living the best life ever.

You won't want to miss this conversation.

In 2012, Bill McGinnis published his first thriller novel, Whitewater: A Thriller. The next year, in 2013, after outfitting for 38 years, he sold his company in order to focus on writing the award-winning Adam Weldon Thriller Series, which now includes: Gold Bay, Cyclops Conspiracy, and Slay the Dragon. Both fun and thought-provoking, these fast-paced thrillers keep the reader hooked from beginning to end.

According to The Epoch Times, McGinnis has “an intriguing writing style” that uses “fiction to provide facts” and “storylines that are contemporaneous with current world events."

The Serve Strong Finish Strong podcast is becoming the podcast that empowers individuals over 50 to take charge of their lives and embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation. In this age of rapid change, it's never too late to embrace new opportunities and redefine what's possible for you.

In this episode we geek out and go deep into the inner workings of the neurons of the brain. The reason is to shed light on what happens when we embark on change.

If you're thinking about a major change in your vocation or your life, this episode will help you to understand what goes on in your brain and the brains of those impacted by your change. This awareness will help navigate the somewhat challenging aspects of change.

It's a bit longer than the usual episodes, but I think you'll really enjoy the conversation. This is definitely not the last time we'll talk with our guest, Dr. David Bovis.

David is a time-served precision engineer and mould-maker who has more than 30yrs experience in 'WCM/Lean' change environments across Europe.

David became operations director, consultant and advisor, working with regulated professional services companies like Grant Thornton.

David established Duxinaroe in 2013, and has worked for over a decade to refine the BTFA product, joining forces with Levent Turk (16 years at Toyota as production GM, Quality GM and TME country President) in 2020, to bring it to market as a digital offering.

You have regrets. Welcome to the human condition. We all have regrets. But not all of us are living under the weight of those regrets. Many are seeing the opportunity in regrets and are taking steps to grow personally and professionally.

Dealing with regrets is vital as we age. Why? Because our time is diminishing. If you want to make a difference with your life, you are going to have to get serious about how you grow and develop going forward. And approaching your regrets with openness and curiosity is a fantastic way to do that.

Every hour of every day, you are faced with (and make) multiple decisions. Some are insignificant, like which shirt to wear. Others are profound, like whether or not to quit your job and go out on your own.

As you age, the weight of your decisions gets heavier and heavier. That's due to the fact that the time you have to recover from a bad decision is much shorter than it used to be.

So in this episode, we are going to go backstage to what goes on in our brain and emotions when we make decisions.

My hope is that after listening to this episode, you will have a greater appreciation for the decisions you make as well as inspiration to explore more about how you choose what you choose.

Join us on this episode to get clarity on what's going on and what you can do to transition out of your business and thrive.

As a growth and transition specialist serving family businesses, Tom helps owners and their leadership teams uncover solutions to the complex and often emotionally‐-charged challenges inherent in a family business that can undermine a healthy culture.

Tom Garrity began his career in customer service with Larson Manufacturing, a family‐-run building materials company. He was promoted to East Coast Logistics Manager, and then later served as a Territory Sales Manager. During his 11-‐year tenure, the company grew from $20,000,000 to well north of $200,000,000. He moved on to become the president and CEO of two other family‐-owned manufacturing companies.

Tom’s extensive business development experience, broad leadership positions and practical financial analysis background became the foundation for Compass Point, launched in 2003, His clients know him for asking the right questions, listening, and getting their teams on the same page to build companies of value and transferability.

You've thought about retirement. You've wondered what it is like to retire. But you don't have any examples from which to draw.

In this episode, my guest Dr. Karen Sibert shares how she went from having no intention of retiring to actually retiring quite successfully.

Some of the topics we touch on include:

  • How stakeholders are impacted when we make changes, not just retirement but any change. There's always stakeholders involved, who will be impacted to some degree.
  • The loss of identity and how easy it is to be wrapped up in identity in your job.
  • World War Two and D-Day
  • Dr. Sibert's father
  • Theology
  • How important financial health is when thinking about retirement

You can see this is a power-packed episode you won't want to miss.

Dr. Karen Sibert has practiced anesthesiology for over 25 years, however, she didn’t start out like most medical professionals. Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas in the 1960s, she was accepted to Princeton as part of the school’s second entering class of female students. She graduated with an English degree and became a reporter for the Wall Street Journal.

Halfway through her first year of reporting, she realized she loved writing, but not journalism. She quit, and later applied and was accepted to Baylor College of Medicine.

After choosing to specialize in anesthesiology, Dr. Sibert completed her residency training and fellowship in anesthesiology at the Yale University Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. She then joined the faculty at Duke University School of Medicine.

Since 1999, Dr. Sibert has worked in Los Angeles as a clinical anesthesiologist and an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, teaching residents and fellows in training. She hasn’t let that get in the way of her writing career. In addition to this blog, she has published in The New York Times and is a regular contributor to the CSA’s Online First columns and to Kevin MD. Her name also frequently appears as an author of articles in medical journals, and chapters in both medical and general interest books.

Dr. Sibert is married and has three grown children.

What is change?
What happens when we change?
How do we transcend just changing?

You will be challenged to ask yourself these questions:

  • Are you willing to kill off all other options besides becoming the fullest expression of your unique, God-given design in this new year?
  • Are you willing to bury the old story of who you have been so you can embrace with passion the person you have chosen to become in this new year?

Resolutions. They come and go. Mostly, they go. In fact, research indicates that nearly 80% of all New Year's resolutions fail by mid-February. What's wrong with this picture?

That's the topic of this episode. There needs to be some inner work before we start listing goals and desired habits.

Key Points:

  1. Behind every system of actions are a system of beliefs.
  2. Behavior that is incongruent with the self will not last.
  3. The ultimate form of intrinsic motivation is when a habit becomes part of your identity.

As you listen, keep these three words in mind: Mindset, Lifestyle, and Identity.

When you think of the new year, what's one thing that comes to mind? I bet you would likely say New Year's Resolutions. The old adage, "New Year, New You," is indicative of starting fresh for a whole new calendar year.

And yet, researchers have consistently shown that nearly 80% of all resolutions die a quiet death sometime around the second week of February. And no one shares a selfie failing at a January promise.

Why such a repetitively high number of failures? And what in the world do the other 20% of the population know that the rest don't?

That's what we'll be addressing in the series "The SOLUTION to Resolutions: Creating A Lifestyle of Growing UP".

This episode, entitled "Remember the Cable," sets the tone before the 4-part series begins because it highlights the backbone of continued success in personal growth.

Listen as Nelson shares his story of scuba diving with his son (first shared in the August 2, 2022 episode, which you can listen to here:

We can talk about living a fantastic 4th quarter.
But how much better would it be if we could hear from someone who already is? Good news. That's what this episode is about.

But let me warn you, it's not a journey of daisies and unicorns. My guest, Lance, has really gone through the ringer to get where he is today.

In fact, at about 10:50 into the recording, he shared some very deep experiences. So deep that he asked that we remove that section from the podcast (which I complied with).

Lance's story is a part of the podcast because it's a story of hope. No matter what you've been through, you too can design and live a fantastic 4th quarter.

Lance has been on the leading edge of the battle against depression and suicide for more than 40 years. His personal traumas and tragedies, both as a teen civilian and as a U.S. military member, provide Lance with the experience, insight, recovery, and megaphone to tell his story in a way that is saving lives. Over the last two decades as a veteran services counsellor, he has discovered how both he, our military heroes, and everyone else can rise out of the depths of sadness and suicide risk when one shares their personal story.

Lance is a U.S. Navy military veteran and holds a Master's Degree in Education (Student Services emphasis) from Old Dominion University. For 20 years, Lance has served as the Director of Veteran Today, a military veterans' service organization, and counseled scores of men and women struggling with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other service-related issues. He is a Certified Peer Support Counselor and Conflict Mediation Specialist. He is also the author of four books, including "Creating the Life You Want."

An accomplished speaker, Lance has made over 1,000 public presentations since 2005. His deeply personal experience with his topics maintains an authenticity in delivery that is deeply felt by the audience.

Death. It's a topic we all put off. Why is that?
Perhaps we're afraid we'll jinx ourselves, or we're too busy, or because we don't know where to start.

My guest, Rick Craig, today says that having a map to follow takes away guessing and confusion. Having the same terminology and map to follow for families when discussing end-of-life can promote cooperation among family members when engaging in topics where vision and desires may differ.

And, well, Rick should know. He wrote a book on it.

Rick Craig has been an ordained Christian pastor for over twenty years. He felt led to share his professional and personal experiences to help others navigate this journey.

Having planned and officiated well over 150 funeral and memorial services, his expertise in this area is invaluable.

In his book, entitled When It's Time, he shares his own stories of loss, along with others' testimonies and insight from contributing authors who are experts in their fields.

The book contains relatable stories to guide and equip anyone to take the next steps in end-of-life planning. His aim is to help you see how a well-thought-out plan can be one of the best gifts that become part of your legacy.

None of us are going to make it out of this life alive.
How's that for an uplifting description of a podcast episode?

Seriously though, how many of us live as though we're going to live forever and therefore put off one of the most important parts of our lives until it's nearly too late?

I'm talking about succession planning. Who will succeed you in what you're currently doing? How will it continue after you're gone?

That's the topic of this episode.

My guest, Steve McKee is the co-founder of McKee Wallwork, a nationally recognized marketing advisory firm that helps stalled, stuck, and stale organizations generate new momentum.

He is the author of When Growth Stalls: How it Happens, Why You're Stuck and What to Do About It, an award-winning business book now published in four languages, and Power Branding: Leveraging the Success of the World's Best Brands, which New York Times bestselling author Jay Baer called "the definitive book on modern branding" that "should be mandatory reading in every business school in America."

Steve's new book, Turns: Where Business is Won and Lost, will be released in Q1, 2023.

McKee Wallwork made the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America in its first year of eligibility and has twice won the prestigious Effie Award for marketing effectiveness from the American Marketing Association.

Steve was a Businessweek.com columnist for a decade and currently writes a popular monthly column for SmartBrief on Leadership. He has been published or quoted in The New York Times, USA Today, Forbes.com, Investor's Business Daily, and The Los Angeles Times, among others, and has appeared on CNBC, ESPN2, CNNfn, Bloomberg, and network television affiliates across America.

You crave freedom. Who doesn't?

But freedom so often eludes you. Why is that?

The answer, according to my guest, is a healthy lifestyle. Freedom to move, to do what you want to do. To get down on the floor with your grandkids. To stay up with your spouse when walking through town. Freedom.

Listen as we talk about what keeps a person in their 40-50s from healthy living and what you can start to do as soon as you finish the episode to get on your own path to freedom.

In fact, here's the link to simply have a discussion about what you can do and how Patrick can help you:

Life can change on a dime. One phone call; one slip; one simple phrase, and you are instantly thrust into a whole new trajectory.

That's what happened to my guest, Jocee. She was on a routine phone call with her daughter, who was on her way home from college. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Jocee literally sat and listened to the horrible sounds of the accident her daughter was in. Totally helpless and emotionally struck, Jocee entered a journey she never thought she would be on.

Listen as she tells her story and how she was eventually able to leverage that event in her life for a fantastic life today.

As you listen, think about the major life disruptions you have faced. How are you leveraging those moments for your own fantastic journey?

Jocee Kelly is a freelance writer based out of Des Moines, Iowa.

As a young child, she was blessed to experience her grandparent's love for their entire family, including their profoundly disabled son, Jimmy. When Jimmy was born in the late '40s, it was rare for a family to ignore the advice to institutionalize their disabled child. Jocee's grandparents raised their son as an important part of their family, church, and community. Caregiving has been a significant part of her life, eventually including the role of primary caregiver when her mother was diagnosed with dementia.

Jocee has a BA in Special Education. In addition to a teaching career, she has worked in the Early Childhood field and more recently fulfilled her dream of becoming a freelance writer specializing in the aging and retirement niche. Jocee has a deep desire to promote intergenerational caregiving thanks to the beautiful example she experienced within her own family.

Your brain is an incredible listener. It will take what you tell it and do what you want.

Why is that important to know in midlife?

Because it can mean the difference between a lousy aging journey and a fantastic aging journey.

Cody and I talk about the importance of what you believe. We talk about what's really going on in your brain when you sleep. We talk about why water is so important.

But best of all, Cody shares why we should have hope. Our brains aren't declining as much as we were told they do when we get older. There's so much more going on in the brain.

Listen to this episode and be encouraged.

One of the hallmarks of a fantastic fourth quarter (your 60s and your 70s) is financial freedom. When you're financially free, it has a positive impact on your relationships, your emotional health, and so many other facets of life. One of the components of financial freedom is life insurance. This is a topic we'll discuss in this episode with my guest, Jeffrey Neltner. But we're talking not just ordinary life insurance. We talk about a product called "Indexed Universal Life".

Jeff Keltner has been a registered nurse for 10 years traveling to various hospitals and working in many modalities. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Xavier University in 2002 and an Associate of Applied Science and Nursing in 2012. He was also a certified Bikram yoga teacher in 2017. He lived, studied and worked in Beijing, China, from 2003 to 2006, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Jeff is currently the owner and operator of Ryoma, LLC, specializing in indexed universal life insurance with living benefits.

There are too many stories of people retiring, beginning to spend their pension, but having no real purpose or meaning in life.

This has to stop, and my guest (Richard Ward) is helping people avoid this trap. There is so much life to live after the typical "retirement" age. There are so many meaningful opportunities.

In this episode, Richard and I talk about the true role of money, the reality of tradeoffs, and much more. So, sit back and listen with the intent of looking at your own personal Financial Freedom as you head toward your own 4th Quarter.

We also touch briefly on Richard's book: Finding Purpose and Passion for Your Second Half.

To see more about the book, visit:
https://amzn.to/3KcCI5A

Richard Ward holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional certification and is passionate about helping people pursue their life goals. He shows people new ways to use their skills, experiences, and resources to help others learn, grow, and prosper - and live a richer life.

Once this new vision is established, Richard provides the financial and philanthropic guidance to turn this vision into reality for them, their families, and the causes they care most about.

He works primarily with those who are about to retire or sell their business and are in danger of becoming disconnected, bored, and unhappy unless they find a new mission for the future. Or they may be successful pre-retirees who want to stay in the business world but who are growing stale and perhaps unhappy from the same old ways and are open to new ideas on how to do more with their business or current role.

He is also a published author of a book entitled.

In this part 1 of a 2-part conversation with Di Patterson. Host Scott says “You will love Di (America's Gerontologist)” as she shares her views on the importance of relationships as we age. Many people who have experienced 40 know that 40 is a pivotal age. Things seem to begin to “go south”, although these changes began much earlier.

Men begin a strength decline at age 18, and women’s need for bone calcium begins at age 10. And everyone’s kidneys performed at their peak at age 5. Humbling, isn’t it? It is within this context we discuss the importance of relationships. Listen as Di teaches how LOVE is the key to aging well.
