Even when obedience brings opposition, the Lord proves Himself sovereign over every threat and authority. When God’s warnings are ignored, judgment often comes suddenly and decisively. Pastor Wesley Welch walks through Daniel 5, unpacking the fall of Belshazzar and the mysterious writing on the wall as a sobering reminder of God’s holiness. This week, we continued our series on the Gospel of John by delving into Chapter 8, where we explored the profound freedom that comes through Christ.
This week, we continued on in John 8 and read through Jesus's declaration of being the light of the World and by following Him we will have the light of life.
This week, we continued our John series by reading chapter 7. We discussed the inherent condition of the human heart and the invitation Jesus offers us to receive the living water. By accepting this invitation, we can be transformed by the Holy Spirit
This week, we read the first half of John 6. We learned that Jesus is the greatest prophet because of His shared identity with God. We saw that He provides the satisfaction that can only come from Him.
This week, we finished John 5 by learning about the witnesses that Jesus calls to testify about who He is. John the Baptist, Jesus' miracles, God the Father, and Scripture all work together to proclaim that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God in flesh, the King over all.
This week, we picked back up in our John series with the story of the man healed at the pool of Bethesda. This story is about physical and spiritual healing, demonstrating how Jesus can provide rest for our weary souls.
As we celebrated Easter Sunday this week, we remembered the fact that without the resurrection of Jesus, nothing matters and our faith is in vain. But because the resurrection is true, our lives have renewed meaning and purpose, and we can find eternal life and rest in Him.
This week we celebrated Palm Sunday by declaring the fact that Christ is Lord, and He is a Lord unlike any other Lord. While He is powerful and a ruler, he is also a priest that ministers to us, cares for us, and delivers us.
This week, we read the story of Jesus healing the official's son. Over the course of the story, Jesus brings the official to true faith; a faith that includes reason, trust, and rest.
In John 4, we are reminded through Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman that only he can satisfy our hearts with living water
This week we continued our study in the Gospel of John by studying one of the most famous verses in all of scripture John 3:16. Here we witnessed the simple yet profound truth of God's great love for us.
This week we continued our study of the Gospel of John by reading John's account of Jesus first encounter with a Pharisee. Here, we learn what it is to be born again and how it’s possible to be born again.
This week we continued our study of the Gospel of John by reading John's account of the cleansing of the Temple. We saw that Jesus desires to be the center of our lives, not on the margins, and that He may flip tables in our lives for our benefit.
This week we examined the first miracle in the Gospel of John: Jesus turning water into wine. As we read this famous story, we noticed that God provides abundantly in seasons of emptiness, particularly through prayer, obedience, and enjoying His gifts.
As we concluded John 1, we studied the first few meetings that Jesus had with His diciples. Jesus understands that everyone seeks something, and He encourages people to come and see Him in His glory and goodness.
For our second week in the Gospel of John, we read about John the Baptist's remarkable humility. Despite the crowds that came to hear him, his identity was rooted firmly and fundamentally in Jesus.
We launched a new series on the Gospel of John this week, beginning with the book's famous prologue. We were reminded of Christ's identity first and foremost: He is both on with God and separate from God, the light of the world and the life of the world, one who has taken on flesh and provided access to God's glory. May we all know Christ more and more as we receive Him!
We started the year with a sermon from guest preacher Dan Trippie, pastor of Restoration Church in Buffalo, New York. Dan reminded us that the grace of God in Jesus Christ calms life’s greatest fears and stills life’s greatest storms. May we all trust in Christ to keep us, save us, and sustain us!
We begin the year looking at another Psalm: Psalm 16. Psalm 16 is a rich, comforting, and challenging Psalm that both promises us a beautiful inheritance, but that also ultimately points to Jesus as the one who causes the lines to fall for us in pleasant places. Pastor Daniel Davis reminded us of God's all-encompassing redemption of His people in Christ.
For the third week of Advent, we read the story of the Magi, Herod, and the infant Jesus in Matthew 2. We were reminded of God's sovereign ability to use all kinds of people and all kinds of means to bring glory to Jesus and point others to Him.
We began the Advent season this week by studying Hosea 3, where we were reminded of the great love of God for us. Though we do not deserve His love, He has redeemed us by sending His Son, the true King and Bridegroom, to earth.
This week, we finished our mini-series on the Psalms, examining Psalm 2 and the promise of a King who would be the refuge for His people. That King is Jesus; He is higher than the nations, yet cares for individual people. Blessed are all who find their refuge in Him!
As we begin to wrap up our Psalms mini-series and look toward Advent, we were reminded in Psalm 25 about the power of God to guide our lives. When we become Christians, we no longer navigate life alone, but we have a great God who shows us the way forward in Jesus Christ.
As we continue to bounce around Psalms, we spent some time on what is perhaps the most famous Psalm in the entire book: Psalm 23. We were reminded that God is our Shepherd, and when we give up control and follow Him, He provides us true peace, true protection, and true provision.
For our second week of our mini-series on the Psalms, we discussed Psalm 91. In this Psalm, we see that God is our mighty protector who keeps us from ultimate harm: eternal death. In Jesus, our lives are secure, and we can rest in Him.
We begin our mini-series on the Psalms with Psalm 1, which in many ways provides the rationale for the entire book. God's Word imparts a true and lasting joy that cannot be taken away by circumstances; it makes God's people like trees planted by streams of water.
This week, we finished our study of the Epistle to the Romans. We examined the long list of names that Paul mentions as he concludes his letter, learning that God calls all believers to participate in the work of the church in spreading the Gospel.
As we approach the end of our series on Romans, we discussed Paul's heart for the nations. As a missionary with a passion for the Gospel, Paul rejoiced in the fact that God has made a new people out of formerly disparate groups.
As we continued in our series in Romans, we looked at chapter 14 together where we saw how we should navigate tricky situations where the consciences of two believers are at odds. In such instances, Christians are called to remember the unity they have in Christ first and foremost and in cases, exercise costly love to adjust ones life to build others up.
As we continued in our series in Romans, we were reminded in Romans 13 of the power that Christ gives us to wake up, love one another, and put off darkness as we await the day when Christ returns and makes all things new.
Romans 13 reminds us that though we are called to be model citizens in our responsibility to the state and the states responsibility to us, we also trust and ultimately obey the highest power in our great God and Shepherd of our souls.
In Romans 12, we were reminded that God can call us to genuine love because Jesus is the only one who perfectly encapsulates this love and through the Holy Spirit this love now lives in us too.
As we worshipped together, we were reminded in our Romans series of the reality of spiritual gifts and the different gifting that Christ has given believers by his Spirit. Christians are one in Christ; their gifts are to be used not as competition, but to further the unity fo the body and mission of God.
As we continue our Romans series, we were reminded in the beginning of chapter 12 of God's great call to us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind rather than submitting to the currents of this world.
This week we looked at one of the more challenging passages of Romans, which is all about God's remnant people that He has ransomed and rescued through Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. God's promises are sure and His mercy sweet. He has grafted us as believers into the tree of His chosen people not because of anything we have done to deserve it, but because of His great love for us.
As we studied Romans 10, we learned that the answer to the question, "is God sovereign or are humans responsible?" is a resounding "yes!" Jesus is Lord, and our salvation belongs entirely to Him. And the work that Christ has done on the cross requires something of us: adherence to the message that Jesus is Lord, a commitment to the mission to tell others that Jesus is Lord, and an overflowing spring of motivation to follow through on that mission.
Romans 9 is all about the mystery of the grace of God: our salvation ultimately is His work, not ours. He has extended his mercy to us out of shear grace for the sake of His name. This is good news for those of us in Christ Jesus; He has had mercy on us, and we are secure in Him. Even though we might not always understand it, we can trust in His sovereignty.
This week, we concluded our month-study in Romans 8, learning that God works the bad things in our life for good, we can't lose the good things God gives us, and God through Jesus will see us home. The good news that the Gospel goes so much deeper than mere cliches; it is a life-changing, perspective-shifting truth that has the power to conform any person and any heart to the likeness of Jesus.
In the continuation of our study in Romans 8, we focus this week on how through Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection we are filled with hope and promise of a glorious future even in the midst of our suffering. God sends the Holy Spirit to intercede for us, brining comfort, guidance, and strength whenever we face those challenging moments. It's a beautiful reminder that no matter what we're going through, nothing compares to the incredible future that's in store for us as God's beloved children!
We continued in our study of Romans 8 celebrating and marveling at the Gospel. We were reminded that Christ has died, taking our sin onto Himself, and thus taking our isolation and alienation from the Father as He went to the grave. In its place, He has given us the Holy Spirit, confirming for us our identity as children of God, remade fro the purpose of glorifying and enjoying Him forever.
We begin our study of Romans chapter 8 which is widely considered one of the most famous chapters of the Bible. In the beginning of Romans 8, we learned that because of Christ righteousness the Holy Spirit now dwells in us, freeing us from shame, condemnation, and death. This is not due to our own effort or righteousness, but is solely due to God's mercy made manifest in the work of Jesus.
As we continued our study in Romans 7, we were reminded that within this life, we have come to understand that two fundamental realities coexist: on our own, we are incapable of achieving victory, yet through Jesus Christ, victory becomes inevitable. By virtue of Christ's sacrificial life, death and resurrection, we are assured that we will conquer sin, experience life beyond death, and ultimately behold the glorious face of Jesus our God and Savior.
Romans 6 helps us understand how to live life as those united to Jesus. True freedom, is not the absence of constraint, but instead a life of submission to Jesus Christ. The freedom we have in Christ; paradoxically, is through our connection to Christ and in him we receive true liberation and true life.
As we continue in our series through Romans we learn in Romans 5 the gift that is our restoration in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the true and better Adam, and our true and better representative. Because of Jesus, we have complete and total access to the throne of grace and we can approach our loving Father with boldness and confidence.
As we begin Romans chapter 5, we learned about pursuing and experiencing the joy of the Lord amid suffering and hardship, resting on the good news that God suffered for us in the death of Jesus to provide us—once God’s enemies—joy now and forever.
We continue our series in Romans 4, looking at how God's great justification of us through the work of Jesus Christ nullifies all boasting before God. He is our great boast before God, the man Jesus Christ who loved us and gave himself for us.
As we wrapped up Romans 3, we saw that God's righteousness - his perfect record, come to us through faith in Jesus Christ. It comes freely and it justifies us, providing ample evidence for God to welcome us into all his love and presence.
As we continue in our series in Romans, the apostle Paul continues to emphasize the universal guilt of humanity before God, asserting that both Jews and Gentiles are under sin and fall short of God's standard. He explains that even though no one is righteous on their own merit, God has provided a righteous through Jesus Christ.
We continued in our series in Romans, looking at the difficult topic of God's justice. The fairness and impartiality of God's judgment ensures that all people are treated with equal dignity and respect, reflecting the innate value of every individual. It also serves as a powerful deterrent against evil, as it reminds us that there will be consequences for our actions, both good and bad. Through God's judgment, we are reminded of our need for His grace and mercy, which ultimately leads us to a deeper understanding of His unconditional love for us found only in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As we continue in our new series through the book of Romans we are reminded of our calling to worship and serve Jesus alone. While this can be a sobering passage that reveals the consequences of turning away from God, it can also remind us of the hope that comes with repentance and returning to Him. When we acknowledge our sins and seek forgiveness through Christ, we can be assured of His grace and mercy, which offer the hope of redemption and new life.
We begin a new series through the book of Romans. The book of Romans is a detailed explanation of the Gospel message written by Paul to the church in Rome. And as we kicked off this new series, we were reminded of the power of the Gospel! It is through the Gospel that we can receive the righteousness of God which is a gift of grace to be received through faith in Jesus Christ.
In the some of the final words of Jesus, we are given the Great Commission. In this conclusion of our series Risen, we find a mission that is larger than any other mission in the world, God's very work of redemption. And He promises to be with us always in this work, even until the end of the age.
In the culmination of Holy Week, Christians celebrates that through Christ resurrection, he triumphs over death! In the moment in our sermon series Risen, we are truly reminded of why the resurrection matters. We were dead in our sin, but when Life absorbs death, it cleanses us and makes what’s dead rise. Risen status – from fully sinful to fully cleansed. Risen relationship with God – from absent to intimate.Risen purpose – from Me-focused to God-focused. Risen destination – from death to eternal life.
Palm Sunday is historically consider the first day of what Christians call Holy Week. This week is especially crucial as it represents the final week of Jesus's earthly ministry. Throughout our series, Risen, we have been exploring some of the most pivotal moments in Jesus's life and ministry, leading up to this significant week. In the Triumphal entry on Palm Sunday, Jesus comes to proclaim that he is not the king the people expected or wanted but that he is the King we need who can rescue us from our greatest foe.
King's Church continues our new sermon series called Risen, looking at some of the most pivotal moments in the life and ministry of Jesus leading up to his death and resurrection.
Pastor Ben shares how the Transfiguration of Jesus helps transforms us as we seek to know and understand the glory of Christ. He is the only One worthy of our worship and He made known his glory to us by sacrificing His life for ours on the cross.
King's Church kicks off our journey to the empty tomb with a moment of dichotomy in Jesus' life: his baptism and immediate temptation.
Most of us have had moments where we believe that the highs of our Christian faith should cure us of our battle with sin, or at least ease the struggle. Yet that is not what Christ experienced: one of the greatest moments of God's presence in His life leads directly into intense trial and strife.
Pastor Wesley shares why Jesus' baptism was necessary and how we can triumph over sin and darkness as He did (spoiler: it's God's Word), and how it provides us with insight into the hope that Jesus's early victory over Satan provides to us as we contend for Christ every day.

Scripture Passage: Matthew 3:13-4:11
Each week, King's Church follows the New Testament epistles and centuries of church tradition by ending our service with a benediction. Benedictions serve as both a blessing prayed over those present, as well as a chance to provide final words, instructions, and encouragement before the Church returns to the mission field of the world.
This week, Pastor Wesley guides us through Paul's final words in the book of Ephesians, recapping the central themes of Paul's letter and providing a last burst of encouragement and blessing to the Church, both then and now, of how we should live and love our Lord and each other.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 6:10-20
Roughly 30% of our lives are spent at work, and the first 2 decades of our lives are primarily spent living in our parents house. With such a significant hourly commitment, it shouldn't be surprising that God has given us guidance on how to live out these times well.
Instead of coasting through our 9-to-5 or constantly fighting against our parents, Paul asks us to view these times as an opportunity for glorifying God and proclaiming the Gospel through our actions.
Pastor Wesley shares with us the ramifications such a style of living will have in this sermon on Ephesians 6:1-9.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 6:1-9
Modern culture is permeated by broken marriages; entertainment industries could survive off the drama of celebrity engagements and divorces alone. It is one of the greatest causes of hurt and loss in society.
How did it get to this point? And with so many painful and distorted examples, how to we learn what a good marriage should be? Luckily, Paul shows us the example and source from which Godly marriage originates: Christ and the Church.
Guest pastor Dan Trippie from Restoration Church in Buffalo, NY shares with us what a Godly marriage is, how to live it out, and why it is not only important for our families but for the salvation of those around us.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 5:22-33
Since the beginning of the Church, there has never been a Christian who was not first a sinner, clothed in darkness and depravity. Sin permeated our souls as it does the culture around us; it was the norm and often imperceptible.
But those who have been saved are no longer darkness, but as Paul says are now "light in the Lord." Pastor Ben preaches through what it means to have our eyes opened and the sin around and within us exposed by the light of Christ, and how we are to live in the new reality that we can finally see.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 5:3-14
Ask any high schooler going to their first prom: when you wear a new, nice tuxedo, you not only look good, but you feel good. Clothes can become part of our identity (like a firefighter's uniform) and affect the mindset we have.
As Christians, we have a new identity that should impact not only people's perception of us, but the way in which we interact with the world. Pastor Wesley continues our theme from last week by showing how and why Paul says we should live out this new identity we have been given.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 4:25-5:2
From the very moment we choose to follow Christ, we are a new creation, set apart for the work of God and called to holiness. We must learn how to live in a world that rejects God and preaches a false gospel, just as early Christians did.
Paul's advice to those early believers is the same advice God has given to us: to remember why we first trusted Jesus and to trust Him now to continue our sanctification. Pastor Ben preaches what it means to work the reality of our salvation into the very core of our hearts so that we can fulfill Christ's call.

As Pastor Wesley leads us through Ephesians 4:7-16 this week, we look at God's desire for the Church to continue Christ's work in the world. Luckily for us, He doesn't expect us to do this on our own, but as the text states Christ has given us spiritual gifts and spiritual leaders to help us grow up to be like Jesus.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 4:7-16
New Years Resolutions are a staple of our culture: social media is flooded with pledges of "new year, new me" and ads for discounted gym memberships. Yet rarely do those life changes started in January continue into December (or even July). We all recognize that we need to make changes to our lives, but often we fail to make lasting change.
In this sermon, Pastor Ben preaches through the lasting change that comes through the Gospel work of Jesus as evidenced in the Parable of the Sower.

Scripture Passage: Matthew 13:1-23
Christians throughout time have affirmed that Jesus is King and Lord of all. Yet for many who met Jesus, his kingdom and ministry did not match their expectations of the Messiah: a conquering military leader restoring the independence and strength of Israel.
Instead, Jesus came as a humble servant, ushering in a counter-cultural kingdom that upended corrupted sinful nature. Pastor Daniel Davis teaches us about why Jesus came in humility, and how we should follow his example.

Scripture Passage: Philippians 2:1-11
Church services across the globe understandably focus on one central theme in December: the birth of Jesus Christ. It can be easy for us to become accustomed to the festivities and the stories of the season, which makes the importance of spending time reflecting on the radical miracle and undeserved grace of God becoming man that much greater.
Join us as Pastor Wesley preaches on the foretelling of Jesus' birth.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 3:14-21
As we enter the week of Thanksgiving, it's natural to ponder what it means to be thankful, and what makes us feel gratitude. Often, these feelings can seem dependent on our individual circumstances. Yet Paul teaches us in Ephesians that our gratitude can be constant and overflowing when it is anchored in the truth of the Gospel. Pastor Ben explores this radical understanding of what thankfulness is in this week's sermon.

Scripture Passage: Ephesians 3:1-13
In a world that seeks to divide, Christ has come to unify.
In this week's sermon, Pastor Wesley preaches on how Jesus' life, death, and resurrection not only redeems us to God, but reconciles us with one another and forges a new and radically different community than that which the world provides.

The Protestant Reformation, which began on October 31, 1517, was built upon 5 foundational truths of the Gospel, commonly referred to as Solas. One of these truths is Sola Gratia, which proclaims that our salvation and sanctification is entirely a product of God's unmerited grace towards us. As we reflect on the impact of Reformation Day, Pastor Ben preaches on what this undeserved grace of the Lord does for and through us, as written by Paul in Ephesians 2:1-10. One of the great mysteries of Christianity is that of prayer. Despite our imperfections, we are able to approach a holy and powerful God to share our struggles and receive that what we need to live out the Gospel. Pastor Wesley builds on our sermon from last week by showing how all the blessings given to us by God can be found not through deep understanding of ourselves, but instead through knowing and having relationship with Christ. James 1:17 states that "every good and perfect gift" comes from God the Father above. As Ephesians 1 demonstrates, these good gifts go beyond physical provisions and extends into the spiritual blessings and inheritance given to us through God's sovereign will. Pastor Ben walks through Ephesians 1:3-14, demonstrating how each aspect of the Trinity works to provide us with every spiritual blessing, as well as what it means to be "in Christ" and how to marry God's will with our decisions. This week, Pastor Wesley introduces our new sermon series on the book of Ephesians, "Who is the Church?" Our first episode in this series sets the scene with an overview of Paul's journey to Ephesus and relation with the Ephesian church, emphasizing how God transforms the Church from broken people to the image of Christ on earth. Often, God allows or causes negative events to happen in the lives of Christians and non-Christians that are hard to comprehend. Our achievements appear undercut, our success is blighted, and we are forced to recalculate our next steps. Yet often this is a hidden and misunderstood sign of God's grace to us. Pastor Ben teaches us about how this complex and much-maligned providence is illustrated in the story of the Tower of Babel, and the way in which it's effects actually enhance the glory of God. One of the many recurring themes throughout the Bible is that of covenants between God and man, in which the Lord affirms His goodness and pledges His faithfulness to His people. One of the most visible signs of these covenants, the rainbow, is introduced in this week's passage. Pastor Wesley shares with us the significance of both this sign and the promise it signifies, as well as how it should point us towards God's ultimate covenant of His faithfulness to us. Scripture Passage: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%208:21-9:17;&version=ESV (Genesis 8:21-9:17)
The story of Noah's Ark is often transformed into childrens' books and nursery murals of pairs of cute animals meandering through a meadow towards the ark. Yet we forget the reason why there was an ark: humanity had become so corrupted and evil that God regretted creating mankind. So deep was man's rejection of Him that a just God, unable to be in the presence of such blatant sin, was forced to annihilate all of creation. But just as he had done with Adam and Eve, God's grace provided a path to salvation for those who pursued Him and a promise that continues with us to this day. Pastor Ben shares this promise and the reason for it's need as written in Genesis 6-9. This sermon is from our Genesis series and was first given on September 18, 2022. Scripture Passage: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=genesis+6-9&version=ESV (Genesis 6-9)
Sin corrupts our hearts and our relationships. Envy, jealousy, and rage affect how we relate to those we know and love, and often sneaks up on us without us even noticing them. Yet it's impossible to understand or truly appreciate God's grace if we don't understand the depravity of our sin. This week, Pastor Wesley preaches about how quickly we can fall prey to the sin crouching at the door of our hearts, and the sweet salvation that God has provided for us. Scripture Passage: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%204%3A1-16&version=ESV (Genesis 4:1-16)
As Paul states in Romans 5, sin entered the once-perfect creation through one moment of doubting the goodness of God's command. Ever since, humanity has suffered the disastrous consequences of sin, and yet we continue to doubt God's goodness and choose our own way. Yet, Paul continues, reminding us that another Adam has come. Pastor Ben preaches through Genesis 3:1-24, showing us the hope that Jesus, the true and better Adam, gives us in our fight against sin in our lives and the coming redemption of creation. As discussed before, man exists to be in relationship with one another. Yet while, this is true in the general sense, we were also created for the unique relationship that exists within the covenant of marriage. Yet all to often we can distort this good design of God beyond it's proper bounds either through an unholy worship of marriage itself, or by distorting the purpose and components of marriage. Pastor Wesley preaches on how we can return to a right and holy view of marriage itself by looking at this covenant as a way to selflessly serve others and understand who we are as Christ's Bride. Man was made in God's image, which means man was made both to work and rest. Yet all too often we glorify one and neglect, or even disdain, the other. Pastor Wesley preaches through what Genesis 2:1-3 shows us about truly experiencing rest, the pitfalls we often encounter in our fallen pursuit of it, and ultimately where (or Who) true rest can be found. Human beings long for relationship with one another. If there was ever any doubt, the early days of COVID lockdowns confirmed it: deprived of in-person contact, we flocked to Zoom and FaceTime to keep in touch with those we cherished most. This week, Pastor Wesley talks through where this desire for relationship stems from, how it reflects our creation in God's image, and how it ultimately points towards our longing to be in relationship with Jesus Christ. What does it mean to be "made in the image of God"? Given the state of the world, is it still true? Better yet, does it even matter? Pastor Ben addresses these questions and more in this sermon on Genesis 1:26-31, as we consider the implications of our divine likeness and continue our sermon series on Genesis. In Luke 6:45, Jesus states that "out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks". No being more perfectly emulates this than God Himself: a being so pure and good that a perfectly ordered world comes into existence simply from his voice. Pastor Wesley starts our new sermon series, "Genesis: The Beginning", with this very thought in mind, and explains how Genesis 1:1-3 and 1:31 teach us about the character of God, our relationship with His creation, and the hope we have to see that initial perfection return.
