He is also the Non-Executive Chairman of Punjab & Sind Bank. Earlier, he was the RBI Chair Professor of Economics at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, India; Senior Economist at the IMF, Washington DC; and Research Director (Economic Policy, Debt Management) at the RBI. Among other positions, Dr Singh served on the Board of NHB and NABFINS.
Dr. Singh has published extensively and has two books to his credit.
Dr. Singh completed M.Phil.in Applied Economics from.JNU, Delhi and PhD in Economics from the University of New South Wales, Sydney in 1997. He followed it up with post-doctoral studies at Department of Economics, Harvard University from Aug 2003 to Aug 2004 and SCID, Stanford University from August 2004 to Jan 2006.
He is presently the Chief Executive at the Foundation for Economic growth and Welfare (EGROW) which is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary public policy organisation aiming to be a premier think tank globally, contributing to formation of sound public policies, especially in India and in the South Asia region.

Sansriti Pathak joins us on this episode to discuss her journey from being a lost law student to an Advocate on Record of the Supreme Court with her own independent office and practice. She graduated in first class from University of Pune, obtained great marks in AIBE and scored all India Rank 3 in the prestigious AOR examination. She has multiple case laws and publications in her name as she regularly appears and has been involved in multiple constitutional bench cases and played a key role in carving out points of law in many of them. She completed LL.B. from Symbiosis Law College, Pune, and then her LL.M. from National Law School, Bengaluru. Today we have someone who is an all-rounder. The multi talented Kanishk Chaudhry had already won accolades in Sports, Elocutions and Moot Courts while being in law college and now has won NHRC awards, been MC at grand Govt. functions, is a trained commando and was amongst the toppers of his SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) Batch.
He has been part of multiple anti-insurgency operations and is presently part of Policy formulation and implementation in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India; Monitoring of Programme and schemes of Central Government in the Union Territories; preparing notes and briefs for inter-ministerial consultation and coordination; providing inputs for preparation of Cabinet notes; preparing presentations for Parliamentary Committee on Budget; getting approvals for projects/plans of UTs at the highest level of the Ministry.
When he gets time from his primary job (I don't know how), he likes to deliver talks, teach youngsters, writes poetry and prose, plays multiple music instruments and tries to grow the Cafe that he owns in Dehradun. Do we have right to privacy in India? For the longest time, the answer was not easy. The constitution as promulgated did not enshrine this right in as many words and even the Supreme Court expressed the opinion that there is no guarantee of right to privacy for Indian Citizen. On this episode we venture on a 70 years journey of the right to privacy with all its ups and downs. This culminates in the Aadhaar verdict. The Aadhaar Act which was launched with the purpose to give identity and empowerment to the marginalized section of the society. But while Aadhaar was intended to prevent unfair practices and leakage of thousands of crores of taxpayer money, many privacy rights issues were also raised in the case. Do stray dogs have any legal rights in our country? The Hon'ble High Court of Delhi dealt with this issue vide their judgment dated 24.06.2021 in the matter titled Dr. Maya D. Chablani v. Radha Mittal giving us an opportunity to share our thoughts and opinions on the topic with you.

Mr. Aryan Khan the son of actor Shahrukh Khan was initially arrested on account of having “conscious possession” of around 6 grams of Hashish on his way to a private cruise party. Later allegations have shown recovery of other drugs and painted him as the mastermind financier of an international drug trafficking syndicate. Even after his bail, we have more questions than answers.
Instead of going on a fact finding mission for a case which by any standards, is a small one considering the quantity of drugs seized apart from being sub judice, let’s take this opportunity to understand the law involved in the matter.
The NDPS Act, 1985 has some severe punishments for possession and commercial distribution of drugs. These not only include hard chemical drugs but also things like marijuana. It is important for us to know what is the history of this law, what it states and then question if it is indeed the best way to curb the illicit consumption of drugs.
This episode will discuss all that and more.
In the episode I made a mistake of referring to a judgement titled Indian Harm Reduction Network v. Union of India as a 2001 judgement but it was passed in 2011 and I honestly do not know how to correct the errors yet.

Law says that an advocate on his filing a Vakalatnama duly executed by a party shall be entitled to act as well as to plead for the party in the matter and to conduct and prosecute all proceedings that may be taken in respect of such matter or any application connected with the same or any decree or order passed therein including proceedings in taxation and applications for review, execution and appeal in the High Court and to take all such other steps as he may be specifically authorised by the power of attorney.
Fine. But what does it mean? What are the terms that are included in the Vakalatnama? What rights and liabilities does it confer upon the clients and the lawyer that client has engaged? This is an attempt to familiarize you with a basic concept of this very important but oft ignored document.
