Here you’ll find sermons from our weekly services and other conversations with leaders, peers and pastors as we talk about and tackle what it means to be a young adult in today’s culture.
Of all the things we know in this world, with all the data, movie lines and sports trivia we have memorized. With all the knowledge we have received and put to memory… nothing compares to knowing God. We were made to truly know Him. The question is.. will you choose Him? He gives you the choice and its the best decision you could ever make.
Honesty is hard to come by. We have reached a point where it’s become easier to be dishonest and yet, dishonesty may be the most destructive thing in your life. Ps. Adam breaks down 5 ways dishonesty hurts you and opens up about his own journey though becoming vulnerable about his mental health journey.

It’s forced love week 3 and our pastors… that’s right BOTH Lukas & Trina are sharing their love story. Yet, it’s not all fairytales and happy moments. It’s a story of pain, joy, attraction, and a whole lot of awkwardness too. In the end, it’s covered in God’s grace and they’re excited to share a few tips they learned along the way.
Whether we want to admit it or not.. We all have ideas on how we should go about dating. This is not an easy topic because the Bible doesn’t address it head on because its a fairly new cultural idea. Yet, we know the Word of God has tons to say on how we conduct ourselves in relationships. In week 2 of our “forced love” series, Ps. Lukas challenges us to not fall for these deadly dating habits and to recognize our worth in whatever season we find in.
Culture is obsessed with love. Anywhere it can be sold, packaged, marketed, you will find the idea and concept of finding love, falling in love and/or figuring out your love story. Even at church, maybe you’ve felt that you need to find a spouse or your significant other… let's face it, we are “forcing love” on each other. At the core of every heart, we have a desire to be loved. Since sin entered our world, we have had a deep desire to be loved and made whole and the answer to the problem of wholeness comes from finding a Saviour, not finding a spouse.
Join Lukas and Delmar as they discuss the fear not series, does God allow genocide in the old testament, morality and love, prayer and last but not least… fashion. These conversations are free flowing, honest and open, not planned and hopefully hit hard topics and open your hearts to conversations like it.
“What if'' syndrome is a common yet plaguing fear for many people's minds. “What if I don't get the call back, what if they say no, what if I don't get that contract…” Life is always changing and It’s really difficult to know what's going to happen in the future… which is why we need to remember the faithfulness of God in moments of fear. Joshua had something unique to him, in that he had seen the promised land. He went as a spy by Moses and he knew what lay ahead of them, he knew what God could do, he had seen his power and didn’t let the fear of the unknown stopping him from seeing the promises fulfilled for himself and the Israelites.
Faith is an interesting journey of waiting on God, having the courage to step out and act for God and in the moments of helplessness, being able to fully rely and trust God. The story of the walls of Jericho coming down are a clear picture, that we can do everything Jesus says. We can listen to Him, act for Him, have courage in Him but at the end of the day, we all have some fears and walls that only the Holy Spirit can break. The walls of Jericho weren’t coming down without the power of God and because of their obedience, God showed up and broke down the walls. The same thing can happen for you.
We do not have to look far to feel fearful of our surroundings. Interest rates going up, talk of a recession, disease, war.. Every channel and social media platform is screaming the same thing. Be very afraid. Yet, our God and faith would say the exact opposite, that we should fear not. We are told to be strong, courageous, faith filled christians in every circumstance or time of difficulty. So how do we do it? How do we fight the fear in our lives? It all starts with knowing that smallest, simplest truth - he won't leave you or abandon you. He is with you!
It’s one thing to say ”okay God, out of all my money you can have 10%” but what about the other 90%? How do we make sure that we first realize, the whole 100% is from God, and ensure we fight to not have a spirit of selfishness with our money but feel free and open to constantly be generous? Ps. Andy breaks down how to fight a selfish spirit and allow the Holy spirit to make sure we aren’t becoming a reservoir with our finances but a river that goes above and beyond in ways of generosity.
In a world where success and growing and accumulation of wealth is a constant worry, what does it look like to truly and properly tithe? Is this still a biblical command from God? What would it look like if as a Coastline Church we said, “God has been so faithful, therefore so I should be too.” In this sermon Ps. Adam properly and theologically shows you what it looks like to bring a tithe and why it's so important to your spiritual journey.
At the end of the day,If we know we are called and we know we are gifted by God. We have to put those gifts to use right? We have to make a difference, and start moving people from death to life and building people up who are broken. Our world needs us to run the race of faith, to live for others and to show up in the hardest of places knowing that he’s going to use us to build up and move those who need our help.

Jesus has a plan, but it can’t happen until we claim our inheritance and sonship in God as Children of God. If you need a reminder of your identity, this message is for you!
It’s welcome home Sunday and we officially move forward with so much anticipation as we claim our new name “Coastline Church”. With so much excitement around our new name, Ps. Andy reminds us, we are still the same church, with the same mission and same pillars. We have a heart for young adults, we have always been a home of revival and God is still calling us to bring revival to Vancouver island, in helping people know God no matter what coastline they find themselves on.
What if we’ve been tackling this whole Christianity thing all a bit wrong? Have we been so focused on doing the right thing or “being better” that we’ve forgotten it’s not about keeping score? We need to stop playing “checklist Christianity” where we keep score of things we should do or shouldn’t do and weigh ourselves against our behaviour. We have to fix our eyes on Jesus and recognize his sacrifice, his blood, and his body broken on the cross speaks a better word over us.
As our church starts a new chapter in its rich history Ps. Andy gives us 4 key foundational values that we as a church need to hold onto if we want to see both renewal and revival in not just the next season but for the future church, we dream of becoming. Prepare to be inspired and get involved!
As a church, we are moving ahead in a beautiful direction. A new Church name, a vision that puts a priority on training and releasing the young and a focused passion on discipleship and unity. As we move forward Ps. Lukas shares some vision and his heart on 4 key decisions young people need to make if they want to become the future church.
Christianity is not meant to be a comfortable, easy-going, never take any risk way of life. It takes faith, dedication, commitment and a willingness to follow Jesus no matter where he calls you. Listen to Ps. Brenden breaks down what it means to live outside of your comfort zone.
Ps. Adam closes our series on the Christian walk with a final sermon on the armor of God. The question that really remains for every Christian, is not whether are we aware of how to use it, but are we putting it on in the first place?
What does it mean to truly walk in wisdom? Is it just “having more knowledge?” Is it just “deeper understanding?” Paul describes wisdom being bigger than that. Wisdom is making the most of our time, following the will of God and being continuously filled by the Spirit. Finally Ps. Lukas shares the best news of all, that walking in wisdom is an everyday skill we learn… so don’t get stressed! We’re all in this journey together.
In week 7 ps. Adam breaks down what it means to walk as children of light. More than just “shining bright”, he helps us ask the hard questions. What does our light represent, what happens when we walk in darkness and are we plugged into the right source? Don’t walk in the dim, embrace your faith and let the righteousness of Christ shine through you!
As we continue on through the second half of Ephesians we continue to break down the different ways Paul urges us to walk in, in our christian life. This week our resident scholar and philosopher Delmar King breaks down what it means to walk in love. Not a love that the culture creates, or is based on feelings and emotion but a deep real love that comes from God.
What does it truly mean to walk boldly in our faith? How do we live in such a way that it both honours God and makes a bold statement to the world about our love for Jesus? This week, we have your friend and peer Jackson preaching his heart out about how to walk boldly towards Jesus and for Jesus every single day.

In this sermon, we talk about the one part of the trinity that for some makes us uncomfortable. Yet why is that? Why do we get anxious when we are talking about the Holy Ghost? Why do we avoid Acts 2 and talking about speaking in tongues? The Holy Spirit is your greatest guide and a promised seal that comes at salvation. The Holy Spirit is essential in the Christian walk. There is NOTHING to be scared about!
“Is that true?” A simple and profound question that seems to pop up daily in everyone's mind in today’s world. Truth to many is a relative term but Jesus constantly spoke in absolutes and He was more than suggesting ideas that “could be true”. He in fact pointed to himself as truth. Similar to the story we read together, we have all asked ourselves (and Jesus) that difficult deep question, what is truth? Jesus answers it, but are we ready to hear it? Or will we be like Pilate and be silenced by the crowd, walking away before ever seeing and understanding how important the answer is for life today.
Our minds and hearts often drift towards the thought of eternity. We are constantly thinking about what happens after death, what happens when this is all over and not just WHAT.. but how do I get to heaven if it's real? The issue with the question is not our desire to be with Jesus forever, but the idea that we need to do something or have something to get there. Jesus points out to the rich young ruler… that until you understand “lack” you’ll never understand your need for a saviour. Until you recognize your need for a saviour, you’ll never understand how to inherit eternal life.

There is nothing easy about going through a storm. Sometimes we don’t understand why we were in it in the first place. Whatever you may be facing, let's take a moment and deep dive into what it means to trust God in the midst of the storm.
Diving into a new series, we go from tackling questions Jesus asks us, to questions we ask Jesus. Every person has looked up to the sky asking, “God do you even care about me?” We all face valleys and storms and find ourselves in moments of complete total despair and in those moments we want to know somebody is looking out for us. The easy answer is, of course Jesus cares… he died for us! The real tension is then why doesn’t it feel like he always shows up in the storm.

There are two things that can easily become obstacles in our faith. Going with the cultural crowd and only doing what seems comfortable. The hard truth is God calls us out of the crowd to be salt and light, and into uncomfortable faith filled moments. That is where He does His best work.

This week’s Sunday recap we take a deep dive into the idea that busyness might be our biggest burden to spiritual growth. How Millennials and younger people aren’t one big lazy stereotype but how the real tension is learning to work hard, sabbath, understand it’s the gospel that brings it all together.
In week number 4 of our series questions Jesus asked, Ps. Lukas unpacks the context to what at first glance is a bit of an awkward sounding question. In a matter of moments, Jesus brings faith, healing and identity to the two people who reached out and asked for help. The question we need to ask is not if Jesus can heal, or wants to help, but are we so busy in our own life, that we have forgotten what it means to be truly desperate and dependent on God.
When we think about Easter, we are so excited to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus because we know the end of the story! He’s defeated death, it is finished! Yet, for most people close to Jesus, all they knew was Jesus had been crucified. In fact this easter we look at a story where two men literally walked with Jesus on the road and were still caught up in their sorrow. The question we need to ask ourselves… could we be that close to Jesus and not actually see Him?
When we talk about healing it comes with all sorts of nuance. “How am I healed? Does God choose some people not to be healed?” Or the big question we always ask ourselves, “do I have enough faith to be healed?” In this week's message Ps. Lukas breaks down the question Jesus asks a man who has been a parapalegic for 38 years, “do you want to be well?”. Get ready because Jesus is going to shift your paradigm in more than one way in this piece of scripture.
A brand new sermon series for a brand new month and it's all about questions. Even Jesus, who knows all, took time and asked question in specific circumstances. Here he asks what is truly an unavoidable question for all of us. At the end of the day, we all have to take time and wrestle with who Jesus is, and who do we say that He is in our life? Is he Lord? Is he a liar or lunatic? The heaviness in this question is that if we're being honest… we answer this question every single day.
As Jesus ends his sermon, so does our sermon series, and he finishes in a way only Jesus can. His warning is simple, listen and practice as you will be like a wise builder, or don’t, and become a fool. At the end of the day, Jesus invites us into relationship, invites us into deeper discipleship but we do have a choice on how we follow and pursue Him. Make no mistake, the warning is harsh, its real - the question you have to ask yourself is not if you’re building a foundation, but what are you building your foundation on?
Typically a scripture we’re more excited to flip past than read intentionally, Ps. Lukas breaks down Jesus’ words and warning when it comes to false prophets and false teachers. Jesus also helps us see exactly what He is after, a heartfelt relationship, deep connection with Him. It’s never just been about ticking off the “spiritual boxes''. At the end of the day if we don’t take the time to truly know Jesus and let Him know us, he’ll simply say words He doesn’t want to, “I never knew you”
Have you ever thought about the fact that worry doesn’t exist in heaven? That worry is something we only have to deal with in today’s world, and even then.. Jesus promises to help us in the journey of worry! In this sermon, Ps. Lisa unpacks that if we take the time to examine our focus, to invest in eternal treasures not earthly treasures, you’ll see that faith really can be an antidote to worry.
Lukas and Delmar sit down and have deeper conversation on the sermon on the mount, why reading the bible is so difficult to stay disciplined in and what practical steps delmar takes to stay hungry for all the Bible has to offer. Also they talk about emojis and why millennials suck at using them properly, are Millenials bitter and annoyed and Delmar talks about the importance of faith and trusting Jesus.
Ps. Lukas is back and he’s tackling a topic that, well, we all struggle with. Why is it so easy to judge? Why are we so quick to point the finger? Our outrage culture lends itself for all of us to become qualified critics but Jesus calls us to live in a different way. When we judge, we focus on each other’s sin rather than focusing on the savior. In the end, nobody’s winning and we're all putting each other on trial, including ourselves. Yet Jesus already went on trial, took the shame, pain, judgment and guilt. It’s time to change and let Jesus’ teaching become a reality in our life.
In this analogy from the Sermon on The Mount, Jesus himself gives practical advice on how a Christian should live out his/her faith so that other people can be positively impacted by their lives.
Salt has to be salty to be salt. Light has to shine bright to be a light. Christians need to be like Christ, to be a Christian. Ps. Lukas explains how we might just be overcomplicating and therefore underestimating our need to shine bright and show Christ in the mundane of our life, not just the high moments of our walk with Jesus. OH and its Superbowl Sunday.. And we cheered for the Bengals.
Introducing a new series we take a deeper look at Jesus’ opening statement in his infamous sermon on the mount. This collection of talks from Jesus giving us a better understanding of how he intends to operate and bring true joy and the kingdom of heaven to earth. These beatitudes are more than just values, Jesus is showing that earthly success and kingdom success are far different than we realize.
Ps. Lukas wraps up the grace section of our grace and truth series about asking a real honest question… is the lack of grace for one another hardening the hearts of a wonderfully empathetic generation? Can we being to love our enemies and pray for those who disagree with us? Is canceling each other our only option? Jesus gives us a better way to live and a better way to show grace to each other.
This week we break away from what grace is, and tackle how the culture has conditioned us to think we can “give grace to ourselves.” If we underestimate the weight of our sin, we minimize our need for a saviour, when in fact, we need Jesus and his Grace more than ever. Sin is real and heavy, but the grace of Jesus is greater and stronger. It’s time to let grace be our fuel to fight temptation and live the life he has called us to live. (John 1:14, Matt 4:1-11, 2 Col 12:1-10)
As we dive into our new series, we have to start with the simple yet important question.. What is grace? We think we know, or many of us have heard the answer before and yet we approach God trying to win his affection. We think we have to earn his grace when in fact it is the sweetest, greatest gift of unmerited, underserved favor any person could ever know. (John 1:1-5, 14-17, Eph 2:1-9, Matt 4: 12-17)
