If you don’t take care of yourself, everything in your life will fall apart.I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” That is to say that you are unable to show up and be of service to others if you yourself are not okay. This premise is something that I have personally spent several years to come to understand. And now, over the past 5 years, have instilled daily practices to keep me operating at my best.In this episode of the podcast, I sat down with Morgan Shidler who went through total burn out and came out thriving on the other side thanks to her Hustle and Play program.Shidler was once managing an educational department for over 10 years, supervising over 30 staff, not including the school staff, 3 schools and 600 students all while in grad school, operating an Air BnB side hustle and, not to mention, maintaining a lively social life.In 2013, she began piecing it together and in 2020 Shidler launched the wellness program that was designed to help people enjoy their lives.Right when the world needed it the most.Talk about divine timing.Fusing personal development with time management, Hustle and Play is a robust program that ensures you make time for play. “It’s meant to marry all of your efforts in personal development to your schedule,” Shidler explains matter-of-factly. “To practically apply your gratitude practices, your journaling, your this and that to your everyday life.”What do you do for play?Connect With Morgan: hello@hustleandplay.comIG - @hustleandplayLinkedIN - www.linkedin.com/in/morganshidleryoutube - @hustleandplayJoe Naz Accident Lawyers@joenazaccidentlawyers on IG @joenazaccidentlawyers on TikTokjoe@accidentlawyersfirm.com

"What’s your guiding force?

Unfortunately, we cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond to it.

In this podcast episode, I sat down with my friend from law school Jessica Hubbard who is now the CEO of Casa Youth Shelter. Unbeknownst to me, she started this work to “right the wrongs of [her] past.” Hubbard shares vulnerably about her experience being groomed by a “close family friend” from ages 11-18.

While this is clearly wrong, as a child you simply don’t know any better.

She explains how this relationship “didn’t feel like it was wrong” because it was someone that she felt comfortable around as he was so close to the family.

She understands first-hand the importance of being a voice for children, and more specifically youth, who are going through a challenging time and supports them on their healing journey. “You are not the worst thing that’s ever happened to you,” she shares optimistically.

This non-profit supports:

Runaway Youth

Throwaway Youth

Traffic Youth

Youth in Crisis

With the goal of getting the youth to feel SAFE and Stable, the shelter takes in those who have no where else to go and sets them up with a personalized care plan. Based in Los Alamitos, California, this facility is so much more than that. The Casa Youth Shelter is a home. Here, youths have access to a clean bed, their own bedroom, 3 nutritious meals, and more.

The shelter began back in 1978 by a woman named Myldred E. Jones, who recognized the need to support youth. At that time, this was the first-ever youth shelter as well as a youth crisis call line. Currently, the shelter operates 24/7 with 42 staff members and volunteers.

India is one of the most life-changing places I have ever visited.

In the Silence are all of the beautiful sounds of your soul.

In India, I did a 10-day silent meditation retreat (Yes, I can stay quiet for longer than 5 minutes, LOL) where I could reconnect with god and reflect on my life.

It was an experience that I am so happy to share, so please listen in because I know there will be something for you in my journey.

India presented me with the most remarkable contrast I have ever seen between wealth and poverty.

I left that country more appreciative of the United States than ever before.

I found myself in the back of a bicycle cart driving down the roads of old Dehli. My tour guide looks like a Westerner because he has albino hair and blue eyes thanks to a recessive gene in his family. I’m glad to have him with me as we travel the back streets, even though no one treats him as a local.

You look around; it is a feast or a terror for the senses, depending on where you look.

The smells of trash, spices, Indian people, Tuk Tuks, pollution, Indian food, and the flowers offered at the temples.

It’s not a smell I can quite describe, but more like a cornucopia of smells happening all in sequence and assaulting the senses simultaneously.

Some smell magical, and some smells I would rather pass on.

Then you look up, and you almost wish you didn’t because all of the buildings range in their stability from one home to the next. Some “homes” I wouldn’t consider more than a shack, and others are 6-10 stories tall.

Some buildings are a couple of years old, and others are hundreds of years old.

About 20-30% of the buildings look like the leaning tower of Pisa and are about to fall over....... and yet they don’t.

On top of all this madness, an electrical wire forest is growing out of the buildings, ready to cause a fire at any moment.

The telephone poles look like trees, and thousands of wires come out of the buildings like vines on the trees. There are so many wires it is unbelievable; they look like leaves waiting to spark a fire at any moment.

My surroundings are one

potential accident to another, and from the eyes of a personal injury attorney, it looks like one potential lawsuit after another.

Then you have the drivers who are all about 1 inch away from hitting each other but never do. They do not care for lanes and do not abide by any rules.

The flow of bicycles, motorcycles, tuk-tuks, cars, pedestrians, animals, and everything in between floods the streets with a consistent and constant sound of horns.

Some horns are loud, others quiet, but some are as whimsical as an orchestra.

The truth is there is always a honk or a beep, like a wave of sound in the streets.

This was simply a day in the madness, and if you want to hear the rest, please chime in for my journey through the chaos!

Ibiza, Ibiza, Ibiza

What a place! It’s beautiful, it's fun, it's exhausting, it's magical, it's wild, and it never sleeps.

I had the pleasure of spending several weeks on this beautiful island, where I participated in some of the most wild nightlife on the planet.

The island has so much beauty and extravagance that people are sailing on yachts bigger than most homes and spending an exorbitant amount on bottle service. If you're looking for the details, listen in!

Hala Madrid!

I had the pleasure of spending half of my trip in the capital of Madrid!

In the capital, I went to the Champions League semi-final, where the city was live with support for Real Madrid! I have never seen fans like this before! Roaring throughout the entire city!

A hidden gem is the Museo Del Prado, which might be the largest collection of masterpieces in the world and where I spent three full days with the curator learning about its treasures!

Please listen in on the many lessons I learned while traveling in Spain.

I love the energy and hustle and bustle of a big city. I had the pleasure of seeing the Dumo here and the opera twice. Both were amazing experiences! As for Lake Como, in my opinion, it is the most beautiful place I have ever visited in my life. If you want to make your significant other happy, then take them here. You will not regret it! Lago D'Orta. A city stuck in time with a population of only 900. Please add to your list of majestic locations to visit in Italy! All in all, the northern part of Italy is amazing and has so much to offer!

Like Julia Roberts, I was blessed to have my own Eat, Pray, & Love journey. Our journeys were similar in many ways but also completely different. Ultimately, my journey was to Eat, Pray & Love Myself, not another person. The most extraordinary journey of all is made by taking the journey within. This podcast puts my life into perspective and explains how I have become the man I am today.I bear my weaknesses, strengths, traumas, shame, and depression that I suffered from at different times in my life. This podcast was the most difficult I have ever done because the story was completely unfiltered and about my personal life.I enjoyed having two of my best friends interview me on the podcast. James Alvarez and Frank Chambers are two of my kindest and funniest friends. We discuss my journey, their thoughts, and how I got to where I am now.The podcast discusses my childhood, how I was raised, the depression I suffered from, and how I learned to better understand myself with the help of a men's group called Sacred Sons. This is the most crucial podcast episode I have ever done, and I hope that what I share will help you as a listener in your healing journey.I genuinely feel that everyone has been through some emotional suffering and that the most excellent way to discover and heal is to look inward and start the journey there. This is a quote I wrote while at a silent meditation retreat in India."You have all the answers within yourself, and in the silence are all the beautiful sounds of your soul."My self-reflection and healing led me on my journey around the world. I had my own Eat, Pray, and Love Myself adventure and it is the best thing I have ever done for my mental health.I pray my reflections and the bearing of my soul will help anyone who hears my words.
