After Graduating from college and working in hospitality for a few years, Kendra realized she wasn't being challenged or feeling fulfilled. Kendra decided to join the family business, G-Tech Elevator and after a few years she helped create BTS. Kendra has found the challenge she was looking for and is thriving in the elevator industry.

Scott has has over 20 years int he elevator trade, as an elevator mechanic. Scott has seen the disparity of dilapidated elevators through the country and has decided to tackle this problem head-on. T. Bruce MacKinnon is the CEO of Elevator World Magazine. T has been with Elevator World for 27 years; 3 years as CEO. Elevator World is a family business that was started by T’s Grandpa, Bill Sturgeon in 1953; this year being the 70th anniversary.
Although he was initially hesitant to join the business, T fell in love with the elevator industry. He loves the people who make it all happen and finds his work very rewarding.
Bob Sinram has been working in the elevator industry for 23 years on his second time around. Bob’s first exposure to elevators was from 1980-1984 as a weapons elevator technician on an aircraft carrier for the US Navy. After the military, Bob chose to work in industrial maintenance, which he did for 16 years. Eventually Bob made his way back to the elevator industry, and has been here ever since. Bob loves making people happy by keeping their elevators running, and finds his work very rewarding.
Jim Comley is the President and Owner of Embree Elevator. Jim Started in the industry when he was 19 years old in 1950. After a few years in the Navy, Jim returned and worked for Payne Elevator for many years. In 1973, Jim bought Embree Elevator and to his day, he continues to work because he wants to. Jim is now 92, and he has been in the elevator business for 70 years. Jim loves what he does and has no intention of retiring any time soon.
Ray Miller is the Business Development Manager for Elevators with Schmersal, USA & Canada. Ray started his career with Southern Elevator & Electric Supply (SEES) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2008. In 2009, Ray moved to Los Angeles, California, to take a promotion with SEES, and shortly thereafter, he took on the role of Sales and Operations Manager with Draka Elevator. Ray has been in the industry 16 years and loves the nuances of working with elevators. He loves the fact that there is always something new to learn, and he plans to stay with elevators for the rest of his career.
Josh Miller is the Sales Manager for Services & Solutions for Kone in the San Francisco Bay area. Josh has an MBA from St. Mary's College of California and spent about 20 years working outside of the elevator industry before joining Kone in 2020. Josh's prior experience prepared him to hit the ground running in the elevator industry. Although Josh admits he has more to learn, his unique perspective brings a lot to the table, and challenges all of us to look outside of our direct competitors in our quest for the best talent.
Darrin Porch is the Founder and CEO of SafeRise, LLC. Darrin founded SafeRise as a solution to safely address elevator installation issues throughout the US, particularly around hoistway safety. Darrin has worked in the elevator and construction industry for over 20 years, including significant time with Otis and Schindler. He is excited to help make the industry he loves even safer.
Matt Jackson is the president and founder of Blackstone Elevator Consulting. Matt started in the elevator industry with Kone as an Account Manager, and worked in Denver and Houston before landing in Chicago. Cornelius Walls is the Global Vice President of Elevator Sales with Formula Systems, North America. Cornelius has been in the industry since 1995, when he stared with Adams Elevator as a receiving clerk. Cornelius has served on the board of directors of the EESF for 14 years, including being chairman of the board for three years. He has also served on the board of the NAEC. Steve Comley is the President of The Elevator Museum in Amesbury, MA. Steve grew up in the industry with his father working at Payne Elevator; Steve joined the company when he was 18 years old, and spent 43 years as a mechanic. Steve has a passion for all things "elevator" and has collected many artifacts from the trade. In 2018, Steve started 'The Elevator Museum' as a way to "Preserve our past and elevate our future.
Mitch Nici is the "Elevator and Escalator Program Manager" for the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in Washington DC, overseeing all elevators and escalators. Mitch started his career as a helper with Flynn Hill Elevator in 1985 and in 1992, Mitch moved to Washington DC and joined WMATA. Mitch has been in the industry 37 years and has really enjoyed his career; he is proud of the trade and he is proud of what he does.
Today our guest is Nick Montesano, CEO and President of DTM Drafting and consulting services. Nick started as a helper with Millar elevator in New York City in 1979. In 1984, Nick joined his father, Joseph C. Montesano at the family consulting business. Nick has been in the industry 43 years and he is passionate about ensuring that the elevator industry and elevator professionals continue to be successful and well respected.
Evan Petrower is the president of Day Elevator and Lift, a Kleemann Company. Evan started Day Elevator as an accessibility and mobility company in 1992 and he has continued to grow. Evan holds a New York City Director license. Evan is the past president and board member of AEMA, and is a safety and education committee member of NAEC. He is passionate about customer service and education in the industry.
Chris Rivera is the President of Orlando Elevator, in Orlando, Florida. Chris started in the elevator industry in 1995 as a helper in Puerto Rico and in 1997, he moved to NYC to continue his career. In Jan 2000 Chris moved to Orland, FL and in July 2022, Chris started Orlando Elevator. Chris loves the elevator industry; he is passionate about educating customers and providing exceptional customer service.
Victor Rosario is the Chief Executive Officer of United Vertical Group and Co-founder of United Cabs, in New York City. Victor started in the industry while still in college, and found he has both a knack and a passion for the industry. Steve Ryan is the District Manager with Mitsubishi Elevator in Florida. Steve started his career as a Sales Rep with Schindler in 1982 and spent over 28 years in Sales, Branch Manager, and District Manager roles. Steve moved to Florida with Kone in 2013 and in 2018, Steve joined Mitsubishi and started the Tampa branch from scratch. Steve has been in the Industry 41 years, and loves it; he still enjoys waking up early and going to work.
John Mezzo is President of Dynasty Elevator in New York City.
John started his career with Otis Elevator as a Test Engineer working in Bloomington Indiana. He then moved to their US Headquarters in Farmington CT where he was a mechanical Engineer. After a few years of engineering, John moved to Las Vegas where he worked first as a New Equipment Sales Rep and then as a Service Sales Rep, before moving to Reno, NV as a Territory Manager. John moved back to New York and worked with Schindler for a few years in various roles leading to Branch Manager, and in 2021, he became a part owner of Dynasty Elevator. John is passionate about the work he does and loves the elevator industry."
Jay Arntzen is the President and CEO of Genesis Elevator, President of Revelation Manufacturing, and also Co-Founder of Saving Susan Ministry. Jay started with Montgomery Elevator in 1984, right out of college. Jay spent about 24 years with the company and in 2008, Jay started Genesis Elevator and in 2018, he started Revelation Manufacturing. Jay experience a big change of heart in 2014 and chose to start a ministry called "Saving Susan" as he realized he has a much bigger purpose than he had been able to see before.
Bobby Schaeffer is the President of D&D Elevator and Senior Vice President of American Elevator Group. Bobby started in the elevator industry as a helper with Flynn Hill Elevator in 1981. In 1982, Bobby started with D&D elevator, eventually becoming its President for 28 years. Bobby served as the President of the NAEC from 1999 to 2000, and was instrumental in creating the CET certification program. He also started the Elevator Learning Center. Bobby He is a member of the Elevator World magazine Executive Board and works with both The Elevator Learning Center and Elevator World to create and deliver the latest in educational content for the industry. Bobby is passionate about providing training and education to all who want to succeed. Bobby talks today about his career path and the keys to success, including hard work and continuous learning.
Eric Burket started in the elevator industry in 1997 with General Elevator, working in Hagerstown, Maryland. Eric quickly found his passion for the industry and has spent 25 years in various sales roles and locations, including Regional Vice President with TK in New York City. Today, Eric is the President of ELEV8 Elevator Consulting. Eric loves what he does and believes that hard work is the key to success.
Rick Milefchik is the Chief Operating Officer of Access Elevator Supply in San Francisco and Quality Elevator Products in Chicago. Rick started in the industry in 1981 with Montgomery Elevator as a 16 year old high school student, and grew from there. He spent 32 years with Montgomery/Kone and 8 more with ECS Corporation before taking on his current role. Rick met his wife of 33 plus years at Montgomery, and his three children work for him today with AES and QEP. Rick has accomplished much in his career, and all without ever leaving his hometown.
Jeff Smith started his career in new installation and modernization sales with, then, Thyssenkrupp Elevator, in Richmond Virginia. Over the past 20 years, Jeff has held various sales and sales leadership roles, and has also spent time P&L. Jeff is currently the Regional Business Development Manager with Smartrise Engineering for much of the Northeast. Jeff is full of enthusiasm for the elevator industry and is passionate about the Customer Experience and helping develop the next generation of industry experts.
Joel Frohlinger grew up in an elevator family in New York City and is a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Joel has worked in the elevator industry for over 56 years; he started as a helper, ran his own business for about 34 years and still works as a consultant. Joel loves the work he does and the wonderful people who have become life-long friends.
Joey Austin is the president of Atlantic Elevators, a residential elevator contractor in North Carolina. Joey started as a helper in 2003 and quickly moved up to being a foreman. In 2009, Joey moved to the Bay area of CA and in 2012, he moved to Virginia, where he continued to perfect his skills. In 2014, Joey was offered an opportunity to buy into an ownership position, which he was excited to do. For the past four years, Joey has had full leadership control of the company. He loves the work he is doing and continues to grow."
Loannie Reyes, also knows as the “Elevator Chic," is the CEO of Authentic Elevator Services, headquartered in New York City. Loannie and her husband Quinn are originally from Puerto Rico and came to New York with the dream of learning the business and starting an elevator company in Puerto Rico. In addition to being the CEO, Loannie picked up the tools of the trade and is a mechanic and inspector; she can often be found performing repairs, troubleshooting and inspecting. Loannie loves the elevator industry and is passionate about teaching, training and developing everyone who wants to learn.
Amy DiPaolo is the Chief Sales Officer and an equity partner with Champion Elevator, headquartered in New York City. Amy started her career at Dover elevator at age 18 working a temp job in the office and she has never looked back. Amy is an ambitious learner and has performed every job possible and learned all aspects of running an elevator company. In 2014, Amy and her husband started Independence Elevator in New Jersey and operated it for seven years. In 2021, they sold to Champion Elevator and Amy joined as a partner. Amy is passionate about the elevator industry. She believes it is incumbent upon those who have benefitted from it to volunteer and groom the next generation. Amy is proud to have accomplished so much in her career and looks forward to continuing on her journey.
John Koshak joined the elevator industry when he was working as an electrician in San Francisco in 1980. John worked in all areas of the field, many office roles and also in manufacturing and design. John is passionate about safety and honesty in the organization, and he has the tenacity to fight for what he believes to be right. John is a NAESA Certified Elevator Inspector and Qualified Elevator Consultant. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Elevator World Magazine, Past President of the International Association of Elevator Consultants and past Chairman of the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation. Today John works as a consultant and expert witness among other things.
Nick Gretsuk is Executive Vice President of CEC Elevator Cab Corp and Sterylift. Nick joined the elevator industry almost 30 years ago, and has worked in a variety of roles, both in the field and manufacturing cabs. In 2020, Nick invented Sterylift to clean the indoor air of elevators, and to help make the world a cleaner, safer, healthier place.
Joe Mcanulty is the General Manger of Liberty Elevator Experts, an elevator and consulting firm located in the Philadelphia area with operations all over the US. Joe started in the field as a helper and learned all he could with the trade. Eventually Joe was offered an opportunity to work in the consulting world and he made the move to Liberty Elevator Experts.
