We’re back with a new episode and a new guest! I’m so excited for you all to meet my good friend Brittany Davis Morris! She is the Founder & CEO of BDMCreates, a website & digital marketing consulting agency based in Houston, TX, and she is here to share all the things about marketing, being a micro-influencer, and how sending upwards of 300 job interviews put her on the path of entrepreneurship. This is an episode you do not want to miss!

If you are on the fence and looking for something, anything to give in your life so you can reach your breakthrough, you have to listen to Brittany’s story. Available now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN:

  • What it takes to become a micro-influencer
  • What are the marketing non-negotiables you need to get your brand noticed
  • What is the #1 thing every entrepreneur needs to do when creating content

CHECK OUT A FEW OF THE EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS:

[1:18]: I did not, honestly. And it was not in my plan to become an entrepreneur. I absolutely assumed that I would be in this corporate setting, and then moving my way up through leadership, and then the C-suite and the retirement. That was literally the plan…

[6:22]: Yeah. And then, too, I was a mother at the time, and so I had set a tone for myself to say, Okay, you're going to be that working mother. You're going to be getting up at seven and then coming home at seven…

[10:52]: So, no. I consider myself a multi-passionate individual. I really like a lot of different myriad of things. I love to create things and explore things that I'm interested in. And so, I had always had a goal when I was young to be in a magazine…

[14:09]: So, it wasn't about followers at the time. Well, it was about comments. That's what it's about. If you talk to some influencers that have been doing it as long as I have, it was mainly readership…

[21:00]: Ultimately, it's not a bad thing. But if you can hire someone to help you set the foundation for your business to grow, then drag and drop is really not going to help you…

[26:49]: Say that again. Because people don't understand. They have their whole businesses on social media or rented land…

[31:52]: I am. I am hiring right now for a junior website manager. Actually, I posted my job description on LinkedIn, so I've been having a few, and I'm still sorting through those. And so, I am hiring. But yes, it is very eye-opening…

[36:17]: Also, I've been finding an interest too in Melanie Perkins. She's the person who created Canva. And she's a year younger than me. And I'm like, Girl, what do you ... I want to talk to her…

Coach Jasmine LIVE: Get Out Your Shears Because It’s Pruning Season

Have you ever been in a space where it feels like no matter what you do, or don’t do, people, situations, and opportunities seem to just fall right out of your eco-system? It can be super frustrating and lonely when this happens but you are not alone and what you feel is completely normal. This feeling is called your “pruning season” and I’m taking you with me into my Instagram Live where I talk about my own pruning season and what I do to get through it stronger and better!

If you’re looking for some motivation to get you through your own pruning season, make sure you listen to episode 19 on Apple Podcasts now!

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • What is pruning season
  • How to get through your pruning season
  • What’s the number one thing you have to do when you are in your pruning season

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[0:02]: This is not just some girl’s trip. This is me transitioning to another stage of my life. And I want you all to be there to share with me. And y'all just kind of dropped me like a bad habit…

[4:06]: I'm gonna be talking about pruning season. Snip snip. If you've been feeling a little awkward, if you've been feeling like things have just kind of been dropping out of your ecosystem, then this is probably why…

[7:05]: I had about maybe six or seven people that I was planning on doing my bachelorette party with and all dropped out except for one. Like, I just felt, I started to feel really down on myself…

[12:16]: Look at the other side of the coin and think about, okay, what is the positive here? What's the lesson here…

[16:07]: And so during your pruning season, when stuff is crazy and is happening and you need that explanation, think about like, just pause and appreciate the one thing…

[21:24]: I had a blast girl. I tore up, I tore it up. Man. Oh, that was a fun weekend. That was a fun weekend. By the second day, I was tired. I got two days in me in Vegas. That's all, that's all this 33-year-old body can handle is two days maximum…

[24:22]: I look to her to model, like how I want my community and me to vibe and how, how I want us to rock together. I look at how she rocks with her community and I'm like, that is how I want my community. That is how I want my people, my network to like, I, that's how I want us to experience one another…

[27:31]: I feel like now more than ever, we just need that connection. We need people to just tell us that it's okay. You're feeling like crap. You've been on the sofa for two days, two weeks. you don't wanna do anything…

Christine’s kind-hearted and straight-to-the-point attitude will have you ready to say goodbye to your 9-5 and hello to your next chapter as a business owner! Listen now!

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • How being a little weird can take you to places you’ve never been
  • When you should take the plunge into entrepreneurship
  • How she transitioned from the Department of Defense to become a confidence coach and strategist

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[0:08]: I asked them when they're looking and I'm like, is it the freedom that you want? Do you know the difference? Because you may try to copy someone else. And I do feel like success is unique to all of them…

[3:04]: You can have a for-profit business and then go into a nonprofit. There's a difference and just show up in their brilliance and just breaking down how they can help others from their experience…

[10:10]: I still applied to dental school. I didn't get accepted. I applied again, but I didn't get accepted, and I remember looking at my vision board and seeing that I had coaching and speaking on there because now my mindset has changed. My time had freed up when I left my nine to five and I was just going to school…

[14:39]: She had a suck-up a fly in her nose. I don't suggest that for anyone to do, but she had to do those things so she could tap into a different world that she had this skill set in, but it was her skillset. It wasn't anybody else's. So it's the same thing with us…

[20:38]: You know, you be the boss you desired, you know, at one point and then just giving yourself that structure and that freedom. It's not that you're going to get lazy, and I think a lot of times that's a fear for some women…

[29:30]: It's the space you keep falling through. As you're walking your journey, you feel like you're always dipping…

[35:48]: I tell every single client when you say yes to your dream in your life, and you are in the process of transition at your nine to five, there's an acronym for yes, your elevation starts. And every time you're in elevation, there's going to be turbulence…

[39:41]: And I think a lot of times, too, as women, we kind of beat ourselves up for having emotions other than happiness. If that drains you, that drains you. So I would say just embrace it. Look at the thought you're having, because a lot of times it's going to be from synthesis…

Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to make a career change to a different industry, but because you didn’t have any professional experience recruiters and hiring managers wouldn’t even talk to you? I have. I remember how frustrated I was when I wanted to break out of retail leadership into corporate marketing because I had years of personal experience, you know the kind of real-world, self-taught kind through my various blogs, social media marketing, content creation, and email marketing and it seemed like because I didn’t have the profession receipts on my resume I would never be taken seriously.

**Let me tell you, that that is simply not true and this week, I’ll tell you why. Listen now!

In this episode, you’ll learn:**

  • What to look for in a job posting to strengthen your resume
  • How to identify your transferrable skills
  • What words to AVOID using on your resume

Listen to episode seventeen on Spotify now!

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[0:00]: Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to make a career change to a different industry, but because you did not have any professional experience recruiters and hiring managers, would not even talk to you…

[2:50]: If you have questions about career development and networking, I want you to head to my Facebook group, The Network, and I will link it in the show notes below, and just post your questions there.…

[3:10]: So when you are thinking about your dream job, and I am assuming that it looks very different than what you are currently doing. If this is the case, then you need to do a few things.…

[4:00]: Now, you can do this a couple of ways. You can go on your favorite job searching sites, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Monster are a few of the popular ones…

[6:13]: And so, you will be able to take some of these and really look at these keywords and think about yourself, and if any of these keywords directly align with who you are, and what you can bring to the table…

[8:10]: First, one is going to be hard worker. Obviously, no one is going to go into an interview and say that they are not a hard worker. That is a given…

[10:18]: And then, the last word that I will give you is, bottom line. What does this word even, what does this phrase even mean…

  • Her biggest lessons learned while growing her business
  • What she thinks is the biggest thing holding women back from igniting their power and how we can overcome it

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[2:39]: So did you always want to be a life coach and an entrepreneur? Absolutely not…

[8:42]: I would literally spend about 30 to 45 minutes in front of the computer, talking to myself before I even hit the live button, it was like the most frightening thing for me…

[17:18]: I really struggled with, well, who am I like, who am I to get on here and tell somebody, you know, this message that I have, like, who am I…

[28:36]: I cannot say that I'm limited because I was a child on welfare food stamps. And if there's an issue with me and my worthiness of who I am, because of that fact, or that truth of my childhood, then absolutely, it's my responsibility to repair those issues…

[34:44]: I am very much about positivity, empowerment and you know, the positive things in life because life can be hard. Life can be frustrating. I have to give myself the energy and the effort and everything that I want and need in my life so that I can be everything that I need to be…

[39:01]: You find joy in the simplest things, right? Just, you know, the other day I was driving down the highway and I saw a rainbow and it's like, girl, you're almost 40 years old…

[45:29]: It's going back to understanding the human experience right? And how all of it is relevant. Maybe we didn't believe that certain things should have happened to us, but it's understanding that there was some level of a lesson…

[52:17]: The power of who we are, the power that we hold within us by just saying, yes, I believe that I am this person. Yes. I believe that I can do this regardless of what anybody says because I said, so this is who I am. And because God says, so this is who I am…

How To Define Your Personal Brand

Welcome back Network! This episode is about defining your personal brand and using it to leverage success!

Did you know that you can Google anything nowadays? Of course you do, and you know that’s exactly what people do. If you are looking to date someone or looking for a job interview, or maybe a long-lost friend is hoping to reconnect with you and they will quickly look you up? Do you know what they will find? If you don’t then that’s a problem because what they find will tell them who you are and what you are about before they meet you.

So would it be completely out of line to think that the people you want to work with in the future, might also be searching and looking up your name as well? This episode will help you make sure that your brand is truly representative of who you are.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why your personal brand matters
  • How to define your brand
  • How creating an effective personal brand will lead to your success

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[1:41]: Now, whether or not you want one, your brand is already out there. If you use social media, your brand honey, is out there. The portfolio of your brand is just a Google search away. And regardless of your personal feelings on the matter, I know you want that Google search to come up sparkling…

[3:30]: We can’t control what others say about us. This is true. There will always always be someone who wants to throw dirt on your good name…

[6:21]: That is what companies are looking for. It helps having that strong, personal brand that’s out there, when people are already looking you up, they’re already searching for you. So you might as well give them something good to look at…

[8:35]: You want to make a plan for how you want to develop your social footprint…

[9:12]: If you post on any social platform, you are searchable and your receipts will tell people who have never met you before. Remember, this is setting up for you to make an incredible first impression before you even open your mouth…

[10:22]: Imagine. I am just going to set up a scenario for you. Now, imagine you have just applied for your dream job and you are at the end, it’s between you and another candidate…

[11:47]: Personal success includes failure. Just wanted to put that out there because I don’t want you to think that, when you are setting up your personal brand and you run into failures, there is something wrong with you…

From The Runway To The Financial Sector With Ontwanet Moran

Hey Network! We’re back with another episode and this week we are discussing your gateway to financial independence. I have Ontwanet Moran with me to discuss personal finance, how she juggles multiple careers, and why you should be looking at index accounts if you are looking to build wealth. She is a financial educator teaching people how to save money, minimize taxes, and generate generational wealth and I can not wait for you to hear what she has to say.

In This Episode, You’ll Learn:

✔ Why having focus and confidence tops 100% every time

✔ The one thing that holds you back more than your lack of knowledge

✔ If you’re afraid of taking the next step, you’re not alone

Check Out A Few Of The Episode Highlights:

[2:33]: I always want it to help people. I felt like that's been in my nature, just from making sure that people will stand up against bullies…

[10:33]: And one of the major tools that I teach people all the time, and it's something called the rule of 72 and this literally a mathematical shortcut to teach you how quickly your money is going to double…

[16:27]: The simple fact that financial education is not mandatory, but sex education is, you know, we have to really think about that. And then once it is, once you do learn some things about the financial industry, it's not even anything that we can actually use today…

[21:04]: And so we are already on the back burner when it comes to making money. So if our husband is making more money than us, we feel like, well, you make more money, so you should probably handle the finances…

[28:50]: Go to YouTube type in type in compound interest type in the rule of 72 type in tax-free savings. Just immersing yourself with what's out there, but then you have to find somebody that's going to help you implement that…

[32:17]: When you get into a situation, trying to look at things like the glass half full instead of half empty and knowing that every situation, is literally used, no matter how it looks for your benefit…

[36:01]: The man who actually invented the 401k, you can actually Google this as on YouTube. He wants to take it back. And the reason why is because it wasn't intended for the everyday individual…

[40:12]: Second thing is diversify, diversify, diversify, diversify your portfolio. But a lot of the times people think diversified as being the different accounts…

Why You Should Go After What You Want BEFORE You’re Ready + Life Updates

Hey Network! I’ve got a few life updates for you and also I’m sharing a scary statistic that talks about how women are less likely to apply for positions unless they have 100% of the required experience while men… well they are applying to jobs with a lot less certainty but a whole lot more confidence. I understand the need to be prepared for your next step but when your preparedness stops you from going after your dreams, something needs to change and I’ve got a few thoughts on how we can remedy this.

Ladies, if you are a part of the 100% club, this episode is for you!

In this episode, you’ll learn:
✔ Why having focus and confidence tops 100% every time

✔ The one thing that holds you back more than your lack of knowledge

✔ If you’re afraid of taking the next step, you’re not alone

Check out a few of the episode highlights:
[2:18]: So because of all that recently, my productivity has been on the low, low, and my time management has been in utter shambles…

[4:58]: I have to learn how to be flexible and rearrange everything so that if I don't get something done, it doesn't push back my schedule and everything with it…

[5:20]: She was interviewing Brendon Burchard a few days ago and he shared an experience he had with Paulo Coelho who wrote The Alchemist, and he recalled how they were four hours into a working session and when Brendon felt like they were getting into the groove…

[10:48]: What I can tell you is that I designed this course for my sisters and brothers who are tired of being passed up for opportunities, bored to tears in their current positions and who want a career that is exciting and passion-filled, but have no idea how to get there or even if it's possible to get there…

[12:07]: There is a statistic that says that women will apply to a role only if they are 100% confident that they meet all of the requirements, but men will apply just figuring that they have met 60% of the requirements…

[15:20]: Reputable companies and reputable jobs and good leaders will help guide you into the job. I mean, it's called a ramping-up period for a reason, right…

[17:57]: You're never ready. You're never ready. So don't let your fear hold you back. You have to really lean into your courage and be okay with the unknown, because that's what life is. There's no manual on life, but you get up every day and you do that anyway…

[19:17]: I promise you everything that you want and everything that you've dreamed is on the other side of your fear and the unknown, you will either fail and learn that lesson and come back stronger next time or you will thrive…

Creating a Path Forward in Corporate America with Watchen Nyanue

Hey Network! Please welcome Watchen Nyanue, my first guest and Founder and CEO of I Choose The Ladder, to the Becoming Joyful family! I can’t think of a better person to kick start this new year, and she is dropping golden nuggets on what it takes to navigate Corporate America. She also shares what it was like fleeing from Libera as a little girl, finding her way in college, and the billion-dollar advice she learned that helped show her what was possible for her if she worked hard for it.

If you are struggling at work and feeling like you’re in the wrong space, bring your notebook because you have to listen to this week’s episode!

In this episode, Watchen shares:

✔ Why networking is her superpower

✔ The side of entrepreneurship that social media doesn’t talk about

✔ How to show up to your interview as your authentic self

✔ What you need to understand about mentorship

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[3:18]: So, we always talk about like nature versus nurture. And when I think back to who I am today, I was that same person, just a little bit shorter. And some of my memories that I remember the most, so my family actually fled Liberia because of a civil war…

[12:41]: So my current company is my sixth company that I’ve started, and the other five failed. And I think this is one of the things about success that folks don’t ever want to talk about…

[27:42]: So making sure that all of your skill sets and your competencies are solid. That you have gotten the credentials that you need. And you will make money during this time, but money is not the objective…

[30:59]: And also, I will say this to the budding entrepreneurs, or aspiring entrepreneurs who listen to your podcast. There’s a level of flexibility that entrepreneurship requires that if you don’t master is going to make the journey very hard for you…

[39:41]: So I was at this event, and it was like a hall of fame event. And I had to go for work because I was an executive, and I was so miserable. And everybody who knew I was going was so excited. They were like, oh my God, I would kill to be in that room. And for me, I was just going through the motions…

Three Things You Need To Make Your Resume Shine

Hey, Y’all! Do you know what’s the most frustrating thing about looking for a new job? It’s sending in your application and resume and getting the “Thank you so much for your interest in X company, unfortunately, we have blah blah blah”. It sucks, I know. I used to be there and I had to learn how to make the changes to finally get noticed by recruiters and land the jobs I wanted. There is so much that goes into getting your dream job and today I’m talking about the 3 things that you can change today that will make your resume shine like Fenty Body Lava.

I even made a 2-page freebie with examples to help you craft your resume easily. Download it here!

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

✔ How to create a compelling mission statement

✔ Why you should speak to your accomplishments with numbers and percentages

✔ Why a shorter resume is better than a longer one

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[0:47]: I've always been the person who never left a job until I had another one locked and loaded, but there was this one time when I actually walked out on the job…

[2:33]: You have to start with your mission statement. It's the first thing that they see, and you can think of that as your 30-second pitch about yourself…

[3:49]: You really want to get comfortable with doing that, practice it in the mirror, call a friend and just start talking about your wins…

[5:57]: Did you also know, that on average recruiters spend about six seconds scanning your resume…

[7:25]: You want to be able to convey your experience as concisely as possible. So keep the fluff out. Remember bullet points…

What To Do When The Unexpected Happens

Hello friends and welcome to episode number 009! Today, I’m talking about how to take care of yourself when the unexpected and challenging happens. I recently connected with some of the women in my audience and they shared that the new year so far has been tough and not only caught them by surprise but has been really really challenging. I was inspired to talk about this because while their challenges are real and painful they aren’t lying down and allowing themselves to break - each woman shared hope. I’m dedicating this episode to them.

It’s easy to just react and sometimes even fall apart when the unthinkable and unspeakable happens to you. If your new year is off to a challenging start, this one is for you too.

In this episode, you will learn:

✔ 2 of the most important things to do when in a crisis

✔ 7 Helpful tips to help you process easier

✔ 4 Impactful ways your support circle can show upDownload The Unexpected Resource Guide!

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[1:58]: There are a few things that you can do when the unexpected happens. The first thing and one of the most important things is to be present…

[3:13]: Healing is not linear. Emotions and feelings. They're not checkboxes that you can check off on a sheet to say that I've experienced pain, I've experienced suffering, I've experienced grief, and now I'm done and I can move forward…

[5:55]: Set up an auto-responder on your mobile phone as well. And the way that you do that, and I think it's really cool, is you set up a "do not disturb" on your phone…

[11:18]: You can journal or write a letter to yourself or others. You don't have to send it. I think that this is really helpful for those who are experiencing grief…

[14:07]: I really want to take a moment to just talk about your support circle. Sometimes your support circle can do the best they can, but unless they are licensed professionals, then they're very often not going to know what the right thing to say or how to fix your situation…

[16:07]: Be upfront about what you're able to provide and what you're not and ask them, what do you need from me?…

[18:08]: And so if you're not familiar with Berne Brown, you can definitely look up her podcast, read her books, find her Ted talks and listen to those. She is a powerhouse when it comes to discussions on vulnerability…

Avoiding Burnout for Ambitious Women

Hello friends and welcome to Becoming Joyful episode 008! Today, I'm talking about burnout, and how it affects ambitious women. I'll be providing some answers and some remedies that can help you avoid burnout for good. I’m taking my earrings off and choosing violence on this one because burnout is something that I’ve experienced one too many times and it’s draining (can we say soul-sucking) and we are the ones that can control how burnout affects us.

If you are feeling the effects of burnout then never fear, I have six ways to help you not just overcome burnout, but also avoid it completely.

In this episode, you will learn:

✔ What does burnout look like?

✔ Who’s most affected by burnout

✔ 6 ways to avoid burnout

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[1:14]: Today, we are talking about burnout and how it affects us. You know, us ambitious women, straight from the mouth of an ambitious woman who spent way too much time being burnt out at too many jobs to count…

[5:15]: We are filled with so much drive, so much passion, so much desire to make an impact. And not just in our roles, but in the company as a whole, because, and I'm talking specifically to you, Black women…

[7:15]: And the first thing that you can do is you can start saying, no. It's a simple thing. It's a simple thing that proves to be very complicated…

[10:25]: You need to start creating those clear boundaries to stop working at a specific time, whether that's 5:00 PM or 4:30 PM or whatever time your work hour ends, you need to draw a clear line and say, this is it…

[13:23]: Try to find the joy in the role, even if it's just a little thing, I'll use myself for an example. When I was working in tech sales, I can't stand the whole tech sales process…

[16:58]: If you find that you are already struggling and you are already in a space where you don't even want to be there in the first place, trust me, I know that it feels good in the moment…

[19:15]: You could make the argument where you’re just waiting for them to fire you. But what that's going to feel like is a long, long game of chicken and you really need to ask yourself, is that a game that is worth you playing…

Can Happiness Exist Without Sadness?

Hello friends and welcome to another podcast episode. Today I’m digging into happiness and the question that so many people have around sadness. Is it possible to be truly happy and also sad? Turns out, I have a lot of say on the subject. Because so many people are looking everywhere for happiness and to fill something left by pain, they end up looking for external validation. That is not the way and can do more harm than good. The idea of happiness and sadness might seem complicated, but the answer is really very simple and might just surprise you.

When you think about happiness, true happiness where does it come from for you? What do you imagine?

In this episode, you will learn:

✔ What is happiness and how do you find it?

✔ The true power of happiness

✔ If happiness can truly exist with sadness

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[1:28]: People are looking to find life satisfaction in everywhere, but the one place that matters…

[2:55]: believe that setting boundaries is giving yourself permission to have peace to be happy and the more that you get comfortable with setting boundaries, the greater self-confidence, and self-worth that you have for yourself…

[5:39]: When you are feeling sad, and you manipulate or you trick yourself into saying, I don't have time to feel this way or I can't feel sad because feeling sad means weakness or whatever it is that you believe…

[7:23]: You have to feel your feelings and you have to feel all of them…

[10:27]: Some days I don't feel like I'm doing a good job and some days I feel downright sad because I have more questions than answers…

[12:10]: if you're striving for that happiness, remember the satisfaction, the joy, the contentment in your life, if you're striving for that if that is goal state for you, then what you really have to do is stop looking outside stop looking for other people to hand you that happiness…

Five Ways to Manage Your Pandemic Blues

Hello friends and welcome to another podcast episode. Today is a very important topic circling the pandemic fatigue or blues as I like to call them. I’ve been feeling a lot of emotions lately. I’m hopeful for the new year, new opportunities, and the possibilities for new adventures. I’m also feeling grief, sadness, fear, exhaustion, and confusion because of COVID-19. Frankly, like so many others, am just tired of being in a pandemic and I’ve thought long and hard about this and I’ve come up with some quick and easy things you can do today to lessen the stress of it all.

In this episode, you will learn:

✔ Where you should direct your energy

✔ What strategies you can start to help you get a head start on your day

✔ Why you shouldn’t sweat the small stuff

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[1:43]: I'm feeling a little bit of pandemic blues right now. And so I wanted to make this episode to talk about things that if you're feeling you know, a little bluish right now, then things that you can do to help manage that stress…

[4:27]: I just so happen to see a map of the COVID cases and you know, omicron and kind of where it's impacting in the United States. And it actually looks like a crime scene…

[7:37]: And here are some things that we can do. So noting that there is so much that is outside of our control right now. The only thing that we can control is ourselves…

[9:40]: I would say create routines that you enjoy and that are fulfilling to you…

[12:36]: Be kind to yourself. Give yourself space to do nothing if that's what you need. If your body and your mind and your spirit are saying that I just need to lay in bed…

[14:59]: I don't care if it's a post-it note. I don't care if it's a Google Doc. I don't care if it's on your notes app at the top of it. Write down that this is a living document. If you've never heard the term before…

[16:26]: Take things one day at a time try not to sweat the small stuff…

[18:00]: The last thing that I'll say here is be kind to others. You really never know what they're going through and what their situation is…

This is my sixth and last podcast of the year! I can not believe how quickly and slowly this year has gone by! Because of that, this episode is very special. Today I’m reflecting on 2021, what I’ve learned like, the power of saying yes, and how I’m feeling about my business right now. I’m also talking about what I’ve decided not to take with me into 2022, like negative energy and creating spontaneous content.

I also want to quickly remind you that the doors are closing for the New Year For Joy Goal Achievement Challenge TOMORROW and I really really don’t want you to miss out on this incredibly valuable and free challenge to help you start the year off on the right foot. Click on the link below to join.

Join the challenge here.

In this episode, you will learn:

✔ Why saying yes is transformative

✔ Why checking the box is no longer okay when creating content

✔ What to expect from the show next year

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[1:07]: Before we get into the nitty-gritty, I want to remind you that tomorrow is the very last day to sign up for the Goal Achievement Challenge. If you had a goal that you wanted to achieve, but didn’t get around to this year and want to roll into next year, OR if you aren’t quite sure of what you want to accomplish next year then this challenge is for you…

[2:03]: The first thing that I want to that I've been thinking a lot about is that I'm still saying yes. Now obviously before the podcast, before you knew me, I had made the decision back in 2020 or 2019, at the beginning of COVID when the world collapsed…

[9:36]: I also realized as I did my reflections that starting a business is way harder than I thought it would be. And trust me. I was prepared for it to be hard…

[11:34]: Another reflection is something that I've carried with me year over year, but it still rings true today that a closed mouth does not get fed…

[15:27]: The first thing that I'm leaving behind in 2021, and they are staying right where they are, I have no interest whatsoever in packing these things up and taking them with me into the future. So the first thing is going to be negative energy…

[18:41]: The second thing is burnout. When I was working in corporate tech sales at my previous company, I would let my quota define me and validate me…

[20:34]: So I made a pledge on Instagram about a week and a half ago that I would go live every single day…

[25:33]: Now that we've wrapped up with the stuff that I'm leaving behind in 2021, the reflections that I've had about 2021 I do want to talk about just very briefly, just some of the things that I'm looking forward to…

Today I have a very special surprise for you, seeing as it is Christmas on Saturday, you’ll want to stay till the end to hear about it! But first, I want to talk a little bit about managing expectations and realistic goals.

When you set goals you must also set your expectations to be flexible. You can’t be too rigid.

That will get you a one-way ticket to feeling inadequate when things inevitably change - oh and they will change. Because life has a sense of humor and likes to throw curveballs, some good, some not so good.

But regardless of what life throws at you, you will plan accordingly and I’m going to tell you how, sharing how I’ve done it and still do it to this day.

In this episode, you will learn how to:

✔ Manage your expectations from the beginning

✔ Stay flexible and learn to make a plan in the moment

✔ Make a decision and run with it until you need to pivot

If making decisions is something that is challenging for you, check out this episode on decision making.

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[2:29]: I did quit my job right after Thanksgiving and my $88K salary flew out the window and I became a business owner and I am so grateful. Since I fired my corporate company, I began to manage my expectations.…

[4:05]: Let’s talk about what these steps mean, starting with managing your expectations.…

[4:35]: This brings us to staying flexible and learning to make a plan in the moment and I’ll use an example of a situation from one of my coaching sessions with a client.…

[5:47]: After your circumstances change and you have to pivot, you have to make a decision left or right you just have to do it…

[7:34]: Are you ready? I’m very excited about this…

Hello and welcome back to the show! My name is Jasmine Wyrick and today I’ll be talking about the second half of my 2-part episode of the System to Joy Roadmap.

Before we move forward, I do want to share a little update with you. It has been a little more than 2 weeks since I left my corporate job and I’m feeling a lot of things.

I feel grateful for this opportunity to do my own thing and go all in. I feel terrified because everything is new and I have no idea what I’m doing. I feel encouraged because I’m doing it anyway.

I also keep having these deep urges to slack my old manager and ask what should I be doing, which in all of my years working, I’ve never felt compelled to ever do. It’s a crazy feeling.

I’ve read so many books and listened to podcast and watched videos and now that I’m in it, it has become immediately apparent that nothing and I mean nothing prepares you for being an entrepreneur.

I wouldn’t trade it for anything and at the end of the day I am helping people and doing it the way I’ve always wanted to and I use the System to Joy Roadmap to do it.

So, last week I introduced you to my System to Joy Roadmap, the 4-part system I created to get myself out of the circle of despair and help me tap into the clarity, confidence, and success that was always there to help me achieve my goals when I was in a bad spot several years ago.

Of course, back then, I didn’t call it the System to Joy Roadmap, it was simply, survival. I personally believe that everything happens for a reason, and I don’t believe in needless suffering so I took all the hard lessons I learned and polished them up into the 4 part system designed to shift my client’s mindset from someone that life happens to, to someone that lives life exactly how they want.

Here is a quick recap before we move forward into the rest.

First, we have to identify the finish line first. We start with the ultimate goal and move backward from there. Then we take a high-level view of your past and how it affects your current behaviors so you can move forward and get off the hamster wheel. If you haven’t listened to part one, pause this episode and go back to the first one.

The second half of the system is all about action. Find out how!

In this episode, you will learn:

✔ Why it’s important to set healthy boundaries

✔ How to take action while you move through your joy plan

✔ Why it’s so hard to break out of the procrastination cycle

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[3:38]: Here is a quick recap before we move forward into the rest of the 4-part system. First, we talked about identifying the finish line first. We start with the ultimate goal and move backward…

[7:10]: Boundaries are a vital part of the system and one of the main reasons why it works. If you lack boundaries the road will be so much harder for you and if we are being 100% honest, it was never easy to begin with….

[10:39]: The thing about procrastination is that we want to have an immediate win…

[15:13]: The last step of the system is all about action baby! I take a step back and you are in the driver’s seat and I am your co-pilot…

[16:16]: In total, the System to Joy Roadmap is a 12-week program. In addition to the complete system, clients will also receive…

Hello Joy Circle and welcome back to another podcast!

This is episode 2 and I have something very special for today and next week.

This episode will be part 1 of a two-part series that will go into the System to Joy Roadmap, the program I created to help me gain clarity, confidence, and success in myself to help me achieve my goals when I was in a bad spot several years ago. The System to Joy Roadmap is a 4-part program, designed to shift your mindset from someone that life happens to, to someone that lives life exactly how they want.

Now, I want to share my system with you to help you on your journey to joy.

If you follow me on Instagram and subscribe to my weekly newsletter (which, if you don’t, you should, because they’re fire) you’re probably like me and are super ambitious, a dreamer, you want more out of what’s in front of you.

You might also be pretty critical of yourself and suffer from perfectionism and it has cost you time, energy, frustration and if we’re really being honest, sometimes leaves you confused because you’re great, you have all of these ideas swirling about, and while you’re good at starting the journey to success, you find that often, you don’t get to the finish line.

Listen to this week’s episode to understand what’s really stopping you and how to overcome it.

In this episode, you will learn:

✔ Why it’s hard for you to be as successful as you want to be

✔ What’s really stopping you

✔ A deeper understanding of the 4-Step System to Joy Roadmap and how working through it will set you on the path to your own greatness.

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[2:35]: You’re probably like me and are super ambitious, a dreamer, you want more out of what’s in front of you…

[3:59]: What’s stopping you is that you’re lost. You have so many ideas and so many possibilities in front of you that you have no idea where to go…

[4:42]: The System to Joy Roadmap is the 4-step program that takes a comprehensive approach to goal setting. This program is broken down weekly where my clients and I will work through each step beginning with…

[5:47]: Second, knowing your end goal will help you define your why which will keep you motivated when ish get’s hard…

[7:54]: In the second part of the process, we will take a high-level look into your past and present to get an idea of why you behave the way you do and see what shifts we can make to get you out of your own way…

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the podcast.

My name is Jasmine Wyrick and we are going to be talking about something very special today and I have an announcement! Because this is the second podcast that I'm doing, I thought of no better way to go ahead and share that news than to share it right here!

Before we get into that, I want to talk a little bit about what the topic of today's podcast is, and I alluded to it last week, so if you are someone who struggles with making decisions, this one is definitely for you.

I'm going to go into a major decision that I just made, and it ties right into my announcement, which is that today, December 1, is my first day as a self-employed entrepreneur! Oh my gosh, it's like a dream come true.

This is all that I've wanted for probably the last decade or probably even longer and the moment is finally here. I am excited. I am thrilled. I am terrified and I am ready to take on this adventure!

So how does this news tie together with the topic?

Well, let me tell you.

I am a person that is bad at decisions and I've always wanted to take my business full time but the decision to do so was so hard because unfortunately I was not born a gazillionaire and I don't have the unlimited resources to be able to just not work and create a business from the ground up. I needed to work. I have financial responsibilities, and so the decision to step away has always been incredibly difficult for me to be able to make and this time was no different.

I had to take a step back and remember what my mentor (in my head), Amy PORTERFIELD (NOT Porterhouse!!! I’m so sorry Amy, love you!!!), said about making decisions and I came up with a 4-step process to making big decisions such as leaving your job to pursue dreams of entrepreneurship.

This episode will teach you:

✔ Why making decisions shouldn’t make you afraid

✔ How to break down your goal and make a plan

✔ To be flexible when making decisions

Here’s to knowing that you will be just fine and that there are really no bad decisions, except not making one!

Check out a few of the episode highlights:

[3:31]: I listened to Amy Porterfield and she talked about making decisions. This is something that she's also struggled with and she's talked about it in many episodes and said that, and I'm going to be paraphrasing here, that you have to make the decision and be confident in it…

[ 5:14]: Your plan can't be rigid. It has to be a fluid plan and what I mean by that is, actually, I'll just go through my exact thought process when I was making the decision to leave my job…

[ 7:49]: So what I did was I took the $1,000 and the two clients that I would need and I reverse-engineered month by month to figure out where's my starting point, and how long was it going to take me to get to that $1,000 or those two clients…

[ 11:07]: After that, my next step, and this is the fourth step, is to ask myself, who do I need to be in order to be successful? This one is going to take a little bit of digestion…

[ 13.31]: And so making sure that I have a routine that set in place where I wake up the same time every day, actually you know what, I'm just going to go ahead and share my routine with you…
