In this episode of What the BL Onna discusses The Perks of Being a Wallflower and why this is one of the few American films and/or not for kids shows that is still reviewed on this podcast because it was an instrumental film for the character of Two and his partner and how is connected them in the Thai BL drama, The Theory of Love. Onna appreciated this film because it dealt with difficult topics that are often not dealt with or are glossed over in most films.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower features the character of Charlie, who lost his friend to suicide and spends his life observing his family and his world and has difficulty interacting with the world and surviving high school in America. Charlie ends up making a connection with his English teacher on his first day of high school who asks why he did not answer a question that he knew the answer to. Charlie then decides to go to a football game and connects with a kid named Patrick and his stepsister, Sam, who integrate Charlie into their group of friends, which has both positive and negative aspects. The positive aspect of Patrick and Sam were that they had decided they cared about each other and they were going to care about each other and the friends that they shared, which is a rare and precious quality trait.
Onna considers how Charlie had a lot bottled up and happened to show his ability to truly see people that unfortunately was enhanced with some not so good brownies laced with weed when Charlie decided to speak to those around them with the truth of who they are and instead of being ridiculed, he is honored and appreciated and made to realize he is valuable and how Sam chooses poor romantic partners based on the trauma she experienced as a child and how she bandaged her wounds from those situations rather than letting the wound heal in the air. There is a poignant scene between Charlie and his English teacher with regards to how some individuals choose poor life partners because "they accept the love they deserve." Because in the end, rather it is drug use, poor life partner choices, or something else, most individuals are trying to find a bandage to numb and bandage their pain after experiencing trauma.
With regards to this film, there is a pivotal scene where Patrick is being attacked by three guys in a lunchroom because he is gay and his boyfriend turncoats on him and is nearly killed. In this scene Charlie finally steps into the fray, pulls Patrick out of the situation and stops the three guys and how unfortunately, this type of behavior was typical of the era depicted in this film. The main point of this film truly is that even in the midst of the chaos, we can be grateful for life and that there are things people have to face, and that it is not just about caring about others, but caring for yourself, and at that point, the healing can begin. It may not be resolved and fixed, but you can go on and live well, because we are truly infinite beings with infinite potential and ability to live well.
Onna concludes with how she does not mind the portrayal of drugs, alcohol, and sexuality in film, because life does involve these things, but she does mind when these are not portrayed in a thought-full, considerate way and how life in America as a high school student is rather difficult even more than other cultures and countries because we tend to speed things up, and oftentimes speeding things up is seldom wise. Finally, Onna admits this is one of the few rom coms/dramas that does have the gems and the thoughtfulness of the BL genre higher quality productions.

Boss goes to a talent audition and is blindsided by his girlfriend, Fawn's agent, who tells him that he is worthless and will ruin Fawn's life and career if he continues with their relationship. Boss then gets drunk and goes to Mek's apartment, where he says he gave up on the audition and Mek states if he cannot be honest with him, he can leave. Boss then completely unravels stating how worthless he is. Throughout this series, the one thing Onna likes about Mek is that he continually states that the reason Boss has not really found anyone to be with him is because he has not found someone worthy of him, not because Mek thinks he is worthy of him, simply because he considers Boss to be worth a lot. He then admits to liking Boss and shows him a collection of pictures of them together throughout their times at college. Boss then admits he too has liked Mek, and they become a couple. Ram also discovers in this episode that his father is having an affair with his best friend, who is his neighbor girl. Ram is about to spend the night out in the rain with his dogs and King finds him and invites him to stay at his condo, in spite of King's great fear of dogs. King also calms Ram down as he realizes that something quite seriously wrong has occurred. The next morning, King's BL-loving sister descends with her two boys and she jokingly plays into this idea by saying he and Ram have moved in together. The sister then leaves, with Ram terrified of the children, King terrified of the dogs, and the two of them trying collaborate to survive that day. It's all here. It's all real.

In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses My Engineer, season 1, episode 2, and how in this episode of the series Bohn is starting to like Duen and Duen and him become quite uncomfortable in their relation to one another. In this epsiode Bohn reluctantly attends a birthday party of a woman who he is casually dating that goes awry starting with her attempt to flirt with Duen at the bar where he retaliates by saying that women who flirt with men at bars are bad women as his mother told him and warned him off, which goes really well--not. During this scene, Bohn has Duen and his friends come over to the table with him, the casual girlfriend, Mek, Boss, King, and two other girls at it and uses Duen, who is rather snockered, as an example against the girl. This leads to Ram rising up and saying that Bohn should not use people to make a point and helps Duen out of the bar with his friends.

In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses how she was looking for something a bit light-hearted and funny to have with her barbecued beef Kale pizza last night and My Engineer, season 1, episode 1, fit the bill. This episode starts with Bohn who is named Prom King and is getting his pictures taken along with the second runner-up in the contest, who are surrounded by some fan girls, whom Onna found bloody annoying. Onna considers how Bohn meets Duen, and the Proper Way to wake someone up (it involves 12" difference in space and quiet tapping and asking someone to "wake up)" As the story progresses, Bohn forces Duene to bring a flower for Bohn every morning from a flower street seller who is a child because he discussed it with his much younger sister who told him that he should follow through on a promise even if silly because he promised to. Onna has a shout out to Ryan Ping, who portrayed Mek, and did a great job portraying someone with pent up emotions and being thoughtful and kind and the difficulty of saying something/not saying something, a shout-out to Nakhun Screaigh for his portrayal of Ram who defends his friends with a quiet support of solidarity and his comradely with the character of King portrayed by Talay Sanguandikul, who is a great comedic relief. Onna concludes with the one thing she did like how Bohn asked Duene later on in this series as their relationship progressed to move in with him, not for romantical reasons, but because he liked his presence. In this epsiode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses BL drama and the three obvious camps with their flags flying and why some of them may want to reevaluate their flags. There is the camp of fan girls who tend to fantasize on the guy actors in the drams, which seems rather bizarre to Onna as in the dramas the guys featured don't end up with any girls, let alone a fan girl. There is another camp of educated women in their late 20's to early 30's who like this genre because of the questions and the strength in the relationships shown in some of the films/series, and the third camp, which just dislikes BL drama for the sake of it being a BL drama.
Onna continues the BL digression by discussing why the litmus test for any decision is to judge by the highest material possible and how unfortunately many of the BL genre productions are not of high quality and these should not be used as a litmus test because the judgement is based on the volume of material, not the rarer, quality productions, which is a pity. When making decisions, the jury should judge by the quality material.
Onna then considers the Tapas.com thread on this subject, https://forums.tapas.io/t/why-do-you-think-bl-is-so-popular/16364/63, and how the lack of gender wars and the incorporation of good questions are two reasons that many people do enjoy this genre of film. Onna considers how she, like many women, does not like the portrayal of women in film as less than the amazing creatures that we are, and how by picking a BL to watch for funsies, she doesn't have to watch females as leads being illogical creatures and how the characters that do in end together in the higher quality BL shows/films, the couples tend to get together for good reasons, character trait appreciation, comradely, etc.
In conclusion, Onna considers how many guys tend to be averse to BL drama and how this is an odd little issue and how if we have a line on something, it may be worth evaluating that line as to why it is there and how we should search out something before we make a judgement on the subject, "It is the honor of Kings to search out a matter. . ." and how we should make our own decisions and make our own lines: love/Life on the line. Onna adds an addendum that the BL dramas from Asia interest her more than North American BL drama it is about the character being gay and goes out looking for another gay individual. Whereas, in the Asian BL dramas, it is about an individual living their life who happens to meet another individual and gradually, over time, because of shared interests/commonalities that are shared, they decide to live their life together. In many ways, this consideration of commonalities the couples share rather than an obsession over sexual orientation, is what makes Asian BL dramas so refreshing over their North American counterparts in BL. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Love by Chance 2 Ep10: a Thai BL Drama and how this episode features Tin and Can and how they handle the onslaught of Tul and his attempt to deface and break up their relationship. Tul first tries to insult Can in every possible way he can. He then tells Can about all the others Tin has been with, ("the others" sounds soooo vague and dramatic) and how Can reacts simply by pointing out that Tin isn't with them now, he is with him, and that, in the present moment, is what matters. Tul goes on to show Can a defamatory picture of Tin, and can responds by going to have Tin meet him and explain the photo to him, because Can realizes that a photo does not tell the whole story, and herein is another large turning point in their relationship as Tin finally realizes that Can is truly the only person in his life who truly believes him. Onna considers how it really isn't the action that occurs, it is really the reaction to an action that really matter--that really count and how the way things appear are seldom the way they truly are. Also, the fact that Tin and Can both know that they are going to stay together for the long term also enables them to say things that couples who would not be long term might not say/discuss because they do realize they need to to have their relationship last. There is also a short part of this episode featuring Ae, Tum, and another music student who meet up to discuss Ae and Pete's relationship and turning their story into a song, which leads into a side note on how this series is a compliment to the Tharntype series and how these two series create a not so small franchise. This episode then concludes with Tul sending Can an inappropriate video clip and Can goes over and punches Tul in the face and how Onna posits that Tul's actions are mostly going to come to light and how just because someone is unhappy is a very lamo reason to attempt to make everyone else's lives a living hell. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Love by Chance 2, Episode 9 and how this episode features Tin and Can and their relationship as it progresses and also has a side note with Ae and as he reaches out to Pete. Onna considers how Can though not particularly bright, at all, he does seem to mature intellectually as he spends more time with Tin. Onna considers the confusing scene at the football field and how it ends with the members of the Team clapping and saying they are proud that Can admitted he liked Tin in front of them in a very comedic way. Onna digresses into the cuteness of the character of Can and of the actor Plan, this is not meant in a weird way, he just is super funny and cute in his facial expressions and delivery.
The one shining moment of Can's sister is shown in this episode although it would be more shining if she was not wielding a paring knife. Can's sister does let Can know that though he wasn't the type of person she saw with Tin, Tin picked Can and Can is her brother and ergo, she will support him because of who he is to her. Onna considers how Tin's brother Tul is an angry, sexually frustrated (no-offense here--just true), and is bent on destroying Tin because he thinks with Tin gone from the picture his life will be good, which is not of course the same thing, but as the maker of his own world and his creation of his world as one without exits or the belief that things can be good.
Onna continues the discussion with how Love by Chance 2 also shows a side of Tin that existed before he was betrayed by Tul, and the Tin of that era was naive and trusting, and in many ways, he was a lot like Can, which in many ways might indeed be why he appreciates Can and his personality. Also, the feature of Ae and his ability to move forward with his care and love for Pete with the distance and his lack of control as Pete moved to France and cut contact, he knew he could not change that fact, but he could determine his reaction to those facts by deciding to post once a day to Facebook and continuing to do so in the spite of the naysayers. Onna considers how the fact that Ae will do things, even if they are indeed quite difficult because they might help him to reach Pete. Onna concludes with how Love by Chance and Love by Chance 2 are based off of a book, Accidentally I Love You, and why this was one of the most inappropriate books and was a travesty of infinite proportions and was not at all like the series as it was extremely adult in content and also quite odd as arranged in a series of blurbs poorly translated into English without illustrations. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Love by Chance 2, Ep8, a Thai BL drama series in review and how though this is not a kid-friendly series, she still enjoys this series and this particular episode and though this does have some physical relationship issues discussed and portrayed, it is one of the few shows that Onna did not feel the need to skip/FF through any of this episode. This episode shows how Tin and Can remedy their relationship issues because Can realizes that Tin will be there for him and not be disappointed in him despite the losses that Can has experienced and will experience. After this realization, Tin takes Can out to dinner and Can asks to spend the night with Tin so he can forget the issues of the day and just wants a relationship and Tin refuses to have a relationship with Can based only on these two reasons but based on something more solid and for better reasons. This scene concludes with Can and Tin deciding to be in a relationship but with the caveat that Tin is only with Can from here on out in their lives.
There is also a minor digression in this episode with Ae who while the team is celebrating their loss where he asks himself if Pete will wait for him to be successful, because he knows that though his relationship with Pete is currently severed, that it will, in the end work out.
The poignant and thoughtful moment in this episode, there is a scene where Tin and Can are discussing how Can is not good looking, is not from a wealthy family, and is also stupid, and Tin simply says that does not matter to him and never does, and with this in mind, Tin then asks Can again to be his boyfriend. Can then apologizes for refusing to be Tin's boyfriend earlier, which caused both of them pain and this realization shows growth in the character of Can. This scene concludes with Tin saying "That was then, how about now?" and Can replies, "Will you be my boyfriend, my spoiled prince, " and the two of them realize that they can now laugh at what was a difficult moment for both of them earlier.
The story progresses with Can returning home and having his sister and mom ridicule him and make stabs, though inadvertent, concerning he and Tin's relationship and his friends at college follow suit, though inadvertent. This reaches a climax when Can and Tin approach the football field and see Ae, Lemon, Can's sister, and Chompoo, the idiotic girl who wants to give Ae cookies of solace in the hopes of winning him over in his hour of hardship after his breakup with Pete--Ae takes the cookies and tries to avoid the annoyance. This scene concludes with Can kissing Tin in front of the entire football team, his sister, and Can's sister, Lemon, as he is very aggravated and sick of his sister asking Tin who his romantic interest is.

In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Love by Chance 2, Ep 7 and why this is Onna's favorite episode so far because Ae really shines in this episode and because of the issues brought to light and how Can deals with those issues. This episode opens with Tin asking Can to go steady with him, and Can is not sure about this development and his honesty in not wanting to be in relationship with Tin because he fears that he and Tin would break up, ending up sad like Ae. Ae then comes to Can as this show progresses and addresses these fears of Can with a simplicity and honesty that Can can understand, which is again, another "Ode to Ae," moment. Onna considers how Tin's response to why he likes Can is because Can "helps him breathe," which is kind of true on an emotional level as Can is the only one Tin feels comfortable being emotionally honest with.
Onna considers that as this episode progresses, Ae is looking at Tin and Can and their "avoidance issues" and though he realizes that they are definitely not the ideal couple he realizes that they are both going a bit crazy and in their case, unlike Ae, both parties are still present, and can have that conversation with the other parties even though they may not understand what they are feeling and going through. Onna really likes Ae in this scene as he points out how the present allows for change and also does not sugar coat things by telling Can this will resolve everything as honestly, even if Tin and Can do get together, they are bound to have a great many problems to work through, just like everyone else on the planet.
The concluding scene where at the suggestion of Ae, Tin comes to Can's soccer/football game because Ae states to Tin that though Can may not be able to verbalize his emotions Tin needs to be there for him. At the end of the game, Can is crying because the game was lost as Can is trying to deal with his emotions and weeping and Tin gives him a hug and has to figure out, similarly to Can, how to express his care as both have to deal with things they both don't know how to handle and they deal with them well. Viewers also have a throwback scene to Love by Chance when Pete and Ae become a couple in the same place Can admits he really does like TIn. Onna considers how though the timeline for Tin and Can's relationship timeline is totally different than Love by Chance, the interesting thing is in Love by Chance Pete is instrumental in Tin and Can's relationship and in Love by Chance 2, Ae is instrumental in Tin and Can's relationship.
Onna finishes this podcast with a digression concerning why people block certain things, and how it is not always for the obvious reasons the other party may think as sometimes people block/avoid things because they are trying to protect the other party because they don't want the other party to be hurt and they don't know how to handle that any way but to block, and would rather have the other party mis-perceive their actions because if they understood, they might jump the block and potentially come to harm. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Love By Chance 2, Ep6 Thai BL Drama Series and how this episode revolved around Tin and Can as Tin has finally met a person who he can tell about his life and how it sucks in Can and how Can though not knowing how to commiserate with him certainly gets an A for effort. Onna considers how Can, though a not smart guy, has these moments of unintentional brilliance in this case by using popcorn to bring together people who otherwise would not connect. Onna then launches into an ode to Ae and how he really is one of the coolest characters in film--ever, because he just doesn't really think about anything but caring for those he loves. Onna considers that the fact that Ae has lost the person he loves and cares about and he doesn't know how to function without the ability to care about that person. but how he starts to figure things out as his T-shirt says, 365 Days, 365 Chances.
Onna considers though Can may not be the sharpest, he does ask good questions as he is trying to figure out what love is and asks Ae what love is and how for Ae, love is his partner and how that answer helped Can as he is trying to navigate his own feelings. Onna concludes with how Perth Tanapon tends to play characters who look at the world differently in a really cool way and that is why she likes his film works. It's all here. It's all real.

In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna reviews Love By Chance 2, Ep5, and elaborates on how this is Onna's favorite episodes as Tin's idea of hitting on Can is bloody hilarious as Can drops the biscuit as he sees Tin is waiting to take him to school and this interaction is their relationship in a nutshell. Onna considers how Tin's idea of getting Can's number is to break Can's phone and to tell Can the phone was broken by a 10-wheeled truck and when Can get's the new phone he is upset--so upset he leaves the coffee shop and his iced cocoa where Can tells Tin he doesn't need to buy a phone, he just needs to say he is sorry for breaking Can's phone. This leads Tin to apologize, which is the hardest and easiest relationship thing Tin has quite possibly ever done.
This episode concludes with Tin having a meltdown and calling Can to tell him what has happened regarding betraying Tin and how Can responds after a L-O-N-G pause asks where Tin's brother is so he can punch him and ends up having Tin come to see him to let Tin know he will be OK and also with the two stepbrothers and a momentary discussion they have concerning the one brother's possible trip home and also how Tin's brother actually though married is in a longstanding relationship with a servant. Onna considers how honesty in your life and honesty with yourself makes relationships so much less confusing because you are living as true as you can and as real as you can. It's all here. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Love by Chance 2, Ep4, and how this episode follows Tin horns-waggling Can and Lemon, and finding out how the siblings arrived at their nicknames, takes the two home, and steals a kiss from Can, which drives Can up a wall. Can awakes the next day and rushes out of the house to find Can is waiting to take him to school which leads to an impasse where Can is trying to figure things out and to figure out if Tin is messing with him and Tin declares he is hitting on Can and will continue to hit on Can, although he has no clue on how to do that.
Ae turns a corner in this episode thanks to a friend who pulled him up and gets him to volunteer and this, for some reason, makes Ae upload a status update on social media for some reason--possibly to reach Pete??? Ae seems to turn a corner in this episode, Ae seems to realize things may get better as things go on and he learns to breath.
Onna adds the fact that though Tin and Can are indeed a weird ball of wool, Can teaches Tin to play, and this "ability to play" is perhaps what is helps nurture their relationship, which though maybe not the best of reasons to end up together, is not a bad reason as reasons go. Onna considers how Can is a weird, honest, kind individual and as Tin states in a previous episode, Can acts "Like a five-year-old." Onna concludes with how curiosity about life and the ability to play is what she hopes is the last thing to leave her because curiosity and the ability to play is what allows us to cross the line or erase the lines we create and the people who help us stay curious, to play, and to erase those lines because they ask us questions about our lives may not help our lives be easy, but help us as we create a meaningful life. Onna considers that reevaluating our lines that we are comfortable with and having friends who help us see the world differently and who help us questions our reasoning , like Can asks Tin, helps us be who we need to be. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Love by Chance Ep3, Onna considers how Ae loses it, gets very drunk, is found by a girl friend at a bar and Ai Pond and a friend of Pete and Ae's also come and drag an angry and drunk Ae to a Soccer field to get him to realize life will go on in this episode. Onna considers that there is always a third way to handling issues that arise because when the flames are burning and the fires up, maybe that is the time take a pause and think about what happened in the past. Onna evaluates that the third way in the case of Ae and Pete, two options that were not taken were the fact that three years is not a long time in the grand scheme of things if the two of them agreed to three years and then getting back together or Pete deciding to finish his education by getting a job and paying for it without familial funds. Onna considers that though Ae does lose it, he loses it because Ae was in his relationship with Pete for the long haul and though his reaction to Pete's absence is not healthy, his reasons behind his reaction is noteworthy.
Onna continues with a segue into how there is a very poignant scene involving Tin and his nephew, whose name actually means "a father's love" as Tin realizes how his nephew is having a childhood just like Tin had. In this scene there is a part where Tin's brother comes home and thanks Tin for taking care of his love. This makes Onna consider a scene earlier in this episode where Can tells Tin that his main problem is that he is the unloved child and his lack of love is why he is the way he is. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna reviews Love By Chance 2, Ep2 and how this episode dealt with Ae trying to handle the loss of Pete and the unconscionably of that loss, which Onna can relate to as she and her friends and family are going through a similar , unconscionable loss so she does understand Ae's feelings on a visceral level, though not the romantic facet, but the friendship facet. Onna considers how Ae is hitting the wall of "Why" with cigarettes, alcohol, and caffeine to put a bandage on his emotions but despite the understand-ability of Ae's actions, it is better to feel the pain and be present because it is better to deal with things as they come up rather than later. Onna elaborates on how Can is always hungry and how there is a hilarious yet poignant scene between Can, Tin, and an annoying girl and how Can salvages the situation because Tin has no filter and Can, though not a diplomatic individual, has somehow, the ability to provide Tin with a filter through his actions. Tin reciprocates this assistance by buying Can dinner and at the end of the dinner Tin declares Can is "Dirty but Cute," and Can and his sister, Lemon, try to unravel the conundrum of the meaning of Tin's comment. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna reviews Love by Chance 2, Ep1, and how this series includes some flashbacks from Love by Chance and mainly features Tin and Can as they develop their relationship along a timeline that is not the same as the one shown in Love by Chance and also features Ae as he deals with a break-up with Pete. Onna considers that the reason Pete left might be valid, but it should have been considered as a decision made together with Ae rather than Pete just making the decision alone to break up with Ae, however noble his intentions, in execution just, well, sucks in its one-sided delivery and leaves Ae beside himself with the confusion of if the break-up is just three years, or is a more permanent condition and that uncertainty is sending him into a spiral because Ae is really just a one-person person and if it can't be Pete, it is not going to be anyone. Onna considers how she finds the face that Can will just stand there and tell Tin that because someone is a person, they deserve to be valued and therefore, they deserve respect, and for some reason, Tin finds this extremely attractive. Onna continues by discussing the scene involving Can when he spills a drink all over Tin's shirt, and then saying that even though he can't stand Tin he will remedy the situation because when you mess up, you fix it, which is a shocking concept to Tin, and Onna concludes with what she thinks is a flashback at the beginning of this episode where Techno is injured, and Can blames himself and is met by Tin, who he tells should be there for him--guessing this is because a predictable schism between these two that develops as the series progresses. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Bromance the Thai 2014 BL Drama, https://youtu.be/zywzVne5CDI, and why she watched this film because Natouch Siripongthon plays a lead role in this film. Onna elaborates on the plot line in this film featuring the lives of Golf and Bank who are step-brothers as their parents abruptly get married and the two boys have to deal with the changes that ensue. Onna considers how the two boys are both still grieving over the loss of their mother and father, respectively and how Banks does what he can to ease the growing pains that Golf is experiencing because of their parents new marriage and the adjustments involved and the realization that Golf starts to like Banks more than he thought he would and how Onna thinks Banks, despite all logic against it, seems to have liked Golf more than expected from the day he walked in the door. Onna then has a diatribe on the importance of couple rings in Asian drama and the good, the bad, and the humorous aspects of this fact shown in I Need Romance 3 and the fact that the main character in that series has a jar full of couple rings from her poorly ended relationships until she ends up with Sweet Potato, https://www3.dramacool.movie/drama-detail/i-need-romance-3. Onna considers how in relationships miscommunications can literally choke a horse and curiosity really won't kill the cat when it comes to relationships and figuring things out regarding relationships and would save a lot of time in getting to where they perhaps should go.
Onna considers yet again why the BL dramas seem to be the only genre that the couples involved tend to commit to one another for the long-term
Onna elaborates on how Golf and Banks ended up together because they came from similar backgrounds and had to navigate the pieces left by their families and the upheaval they were left to handle. Onna considers how this film and the family's response to Banks and Golf's relationship is so terrible because if family members don't invest in people's lives, you don't have the right to judge or try to destroy their relationship and how the family is really missing the whole point because the only reason they were interfering in Golf and Banks' relationship was because their relationship was not the status quo and they were worried what others would think about Golf and Banks' relationship. Onna considers how when it comes to eighteen-year-olds, using the argument that they shouldn't do something because of what others will think isn't going to work as they still have enough moxie to see through that and say that they should not make decisions based on what others think, which is one of the many cool things about young adults. Onna considers an opposite scenario that if the aunt had walked in and just sat down and asked what was going on and they could discuss Golf and Banks' relationship and see not only the negative possibilities and what society would think and instead see the positive aspects of their relationship--no fighting between family for who they have holiday dinners with for example.
Onna concludes with the aspect that the farewell scene in the classroom between Golf and Banks where Golf tells Banks that he was never ashamed that he cared for him though they were both guys. Onna considers that the one thing that sets Thai BL apart from American BL, for example is the fact that sexual orientation is secondary to personal appreciation for the individual and their qualities as a person. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Why R U the Thai BL series and how though an endeavor to finish as it is the type of series that gives BL drama a bad name with sound effects and over-inflated acting but it did lead Onna on some interesting rants concerning these issues of sound effects, poor acting, questioning why we need to add in any fan girls and mature content? Seriously.
Onna gives the synopsis of how this this story features Si and Zon and Tutor and Fighter and how their relationships progress from dislike to like. Onna considers how how Si and Zon are doofballs and how this is not a bad word but perfectly legitimate word for a adult who grew up in the US in the 90's to say and that this couple's relationship is pretty smooth sailing. But Tutor and Fighter spend most of their time fighting the fact that they like each other and that Tutor spends his time fighting his dislike of Fighter and tutoring ungrateful students, such as Fighter while Fighter says he is just bothering Tutor to bother Fighter until the 10th episode, when the two finally decide to be a couple.
The story progresses with Fighter's dad attempting to break up Tutor and Fighter's relationship by requesting Tutor not see Fighter, because Fighter truly wants a "normal" family---whatever that is. Tutor agrees and breaks up with Fighter. Onna considers how in a relationship with two people, both parties should have a say in decisions, such as breaking up, otherwise the one party feels powerless and somewhat victimized, as shown in the later episodes with Fighter's response to Tutor's behavior.
In episode 12 Fighter breaks down and admits to realizing that he has liked Tutor since the beginning but just realizes that that was the reason he was at Tutor's throat all those years, was because he liked Tutor all along and that fact is also why he wants to figure out why things aren't ok and what he possibly did to cause the breach. This moment is one of the most intuitive and viscerally honest of the series, and shows in many ways why Tutor and Fighter and their relationship are key to the positive aspects of the show. However, Tutor still decides to throw himself and he and Fighter's relationship under the bus and to give Fighter back a necklace that says "Fighter" because Tutor is the fighter, not Fighter.
Tutor then gets very sick and Fighter finds out via another student and finds Tutor collapsing in a hall and goes to assist him and realizes as Tutor is having a raging fever that Tutor has his walls down and asks Fighter to just stay with him for the afternoon and finds Zon messaged Tutor and and Fighter calls Zon to discover what is going on with Tutor as Zon is a good friend of Tutor's and though this is an invasion of privacy it also is a turning point in this story and Tutor and Fighter's relationship.
Tutor then goes to the beach with Si and Zon and Fighter meets them there and Tutor asks "WHY RU here, Fighter?" Fighter then asks why Tutor did not discuss Fighter's dad problem and then calls his dad via video chat with his dad and Fighter's dad apologizes to Tutor for what he did to cause a breach in Tutor and Fighter's relationship. Tutor and Fighter then agree they are going to be together and they are going to deal with problems together.
Onna concludes that as a whole, Tutor and Fighter made this series enjoyable and how though they made this show better, Onna would not re-watch this series as it really did have poor quality overall and why she gives it a 3 out of 10 because of sound effects, Si and Zon, fan girls, and silliness. Onna finishes with a shout out to the good acting of Saint, Suppapong Udomkaewkanjana and Zee Pruk Panich who were realistic and authentic. It's all here. It's all real.

In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna reviews the Thai BL series, Love by Chance that Onna puts up the caveat this is not a kid-friendly show but may be appropriate for 14-15+ (in Thailand it is rated for 17+) but why she is still reviewing this series is because, similarly to History 2: Right or Wrong because it features very sweet and thoughtful characters who don't plan on ending up with each other, but over time, their relationship develops. Onna considers that this series is like a lot of films/series that have become Onna's favorite that typically initially thinks she won't like because of a less than steller first impression via a preview or clip, but in time, Onna ends up watching the movie or series and finds them to be stellar after all. Onna considers how this series features Saint as Pete and Perth Tanapon as Ae, and this couple are what make the series interesting to watch because of the care shown in their friendship and then romantic relationship. Onna considers how Ae puts care into things that most people wouldn't from taking Pete to the hospital, to suggesting to Pete that he should tell his mom he is gay before someone else does. Onna delves into the mom's response to finding out her son is gay before he had a chance to tell her, she cooked up her son's favorite meal and pretends she did not know from another source and how awesome her response is as a mom.
As the story progresses, Pete is slightly feeling alienated because of his sexual orientation and Ae points out that that should not be a consideration as people are just people and their friendship continues as Can, a funny soccer dude finds Pete has been beat up and left in the rain and is just able to say "Ae, engineering" and calls Ae to find out what is going on. Ae then comes to assist and during this process, Ae begins to realize that he cares for Pete and in that realization tries to build a wall of care because he does not want to hurt Pete because of what Pete has already been through and just because of who Ae is as a person. Simultaneously, Pete tries to sabotage his and Ae's possibility of relationship because Pete does not want Ae to have the astigmatism that he would receive if they were a couple. As the series progresses, Ae and Pete resolve their difficulties and decide they can be friends and possibly more and also Ae realizes that he likes Pete because Pete is Pete, not because he is a guy, just because he is the person he is.
In this series, Tin and Can are also an interesting facet that add some levity because Tin is from a moneyed, political family and Can is from a middle class family and is the only person Tin has who will tell can he is being a jerk and to stop being an. . . that word you are thinking will work . . .and for some reason Can's loathing of Tin's behavior leads Tin to like Can and then, for crazy reasons Tin then tries to date Pete and this causes Pete and Ae to officially become a couple and Tin to pursue a quirky off-the-wall Cantaloupe.
Onna concludes with how in essence, the care shown by Ae and Pete overall to each other, their family, and their friends is why Onna gives it a 10 despite several disadvantages found in Ai Pond's behavior, which solidify why Onna will never have her Boyz in a dorm with a roommate of totally questionable behaviors are just some of the take-aways Onna took from this series.
Onna adds in the sneak peek to Love by Chance 2 and why ultimatums should not be given to grown children by parents, especially if the parent has not been a part of that person's life. Onna considers how this sequel also shows that even Ai Pond can do some things right as Ae is spiral out of control because he has, at least temporarily lost Pete who really was a large part of his life. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses the Korean BL drama series Mr. Heart in total. Onna has done an episode by episode review of this series that you can see in previous recent podcasts. Onna considers how Korean BL dramas are subpar compared to other countries' BL dramas because the projects' compatriots seem to not put their heart in the production--pun intended. Onna considers that this story follows a collegiate runner and his pacemaker and how when the runner, Jin Won, realizes that he can't buy his pacemaker and how his pacemaker, Sang Ha, has invested in Jin Won over the years in a way no one Jin Won's life had before over a series of years. Onna concludes with the one consideration she took away from this series in the ending scene with Jin Won meeting Sang Ha when he hits Sang Ha and Sang Ha sits up and finally retorts and faces some issues he had been keeping inside and Jin Won states he is not upset about the race results and is upset because Sang Ha changed his door code and asks him to be his rival rather than his pacemaker because you cannot be in a relationship well if you are not equals. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Mr. Heart S1, E8, and how she liked this episode as Sang Ha has a crisis of goals as he realizes that winning the race did not improve his relationship with Jin Won though he was able to get rid of the loan sharks/related debt and he ends up leaving his condo, changing his door code, and continuing his job as a milk delivery person. Onna reviews how Jin Won met up with Sang Ha, punched him, and THEN Sang Ha finally said what was on his mind and the two could move forward after a few awkward moments when Jin Won is upset about door codes and consistency and Sang Ha is trying to figure out why. Onna elaborates on the da-da-da-duh and da-da-da-duh moment is entertaining between these two characters as they remind Onna of two kids and how adults never really do grow up--we just want to think we have. Onna continues the review with the hilarious first date as neither knows what to do on a first date as neither has ever been on a first date and they conclude they will just go for a run because "love is like a marathon, once you start you can't stop" (which Onna debates). Onna adds that the quote during Jin Won's and Sang Ha's conflab, the quote about having to be equals in order to have a relationship work is something to consider and how BL movies are usually littered with little gems of quotes and this is what she likes about BL dramas. During this run, Sang Ha explains to Jin Won why he liked him from the start was because Jin Won reminded Sang Ha that life was worth living. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Why R U Ep13 and how Tutor asks Why RU here to Fighter as he awakes at the beach condo he is at vacation at to find Fighter there. Instead of answering Tutor's question, Fighter asks why Tutor did not tell him about his "Dad Problem" and they resolve this misunderstanding and Fighter's dad apologizes to Tutor for his behavior. Fighter then tells Tutor that Tutor no longer has to handle things all on his own as they will be together and can handle issues together as they are together and will continue to be so. At the end of this episode, both Tutor and Fighter and Si and Zon realize that they write their own stories and that by finding your own happiness you can also in the process someone else finds their happiness too--which is sort of Tutor's life in a nutshell and why Onna liked Tutor's character in the series. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Why R U Ep 12 Onna discusses why she appreciates the interplay between Tutor and Fighter in this episode as Fighter tries to understand Tutor and why he has decided to break up with Fighter because he feels it will be best for Fighter and his family, which leads Fighter to go to Tutor's condo and after a fight, come to the realization and admittance of liking Fighter for a long while and that he was finally OK to admit that and that that led him on the path to become a couple with Tutor, which led to both their happiness'. Onna digresses to how Fighter assumes that he did something wrong or Tutor would not be upset, which is a very human, albeit wrong approach to disagreements and misconceptions. As the episode progresses, Si and Zon decide to go to the beach and to bring Tutor with them. Before the trip, Tutor gets extremely ill because he is working hard and knows he did not handle the issues with Fighter well and Fighter takes care of him as he recovers and his walls are down because Tutor has a high fever. In this process, Tutor discovers what is really wrong after seeing a text from Zon on Tutor's phone, and Fighter calls Zon and finds out what really happened. This leads Fighter to go discuss this issue with his father and though this scene involves two angry adults, Fighter does handle the situation well as he takes responsibility for his relationships and where they may lead, good or bad. This episode ends with Tutor lugging his luggage up to his beach condo for the vacation and konks out because Tutor is on vacation, and then wakes to find that Fighter is there as well. Onna concludes by saying that she did like the interjection of Anime with the live action and the idea of dreams becoming a reality, though this series didn't really follow things through linear-ally. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Why R U episode 11 and how life coming back from the beach is not so great for Tutor and Fighter because they have to deal with Other People. Onna considers how both Tutor's mom and Fighter's dad handle the situation poorly by being sneaky and trying to buy off Tutor to get him to break up with Fighter. Tutor then decides to break up with Fighter to keep him from having issues with his dad and this leads to a bunch of misunderstanding. Onna considers how if in a relationship, decisions should be made with both parties included in those choices, although not always easy this is always a good rule of thumb. Onna concludes by adding that Zon finally showed his non-annoying side by being there for Tutor to talk to about his issues, and though not offering any advice, helped Tutor by letting him know he had someone he could trust with his troubles. In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses Why RU Episode 7 the Thai BL drama series https://youtu.be/1Xn95rNMMGU and why this episode had some great points, and some not-so-great points, it was the best of episodes, it was the worst of episodes. . .. Onna goes into a positive review of how Tutor's sister is super cool as she just evaluates things in a really cool way that helps Tutor reach his decisions in a calmer, more rationale way and asks to be introduced to Fighter. Onna considers how the scene where Fighter and Tutor's sister meet and the fun interactions and helpful tips Tutor's sister gives Fighter and her request that he looks after Tutor. Onna considers how life is short so really do just say what you need to say and do what you need to do in spite of our fears and that way we get maybe, just maybe 80% of this life right and 20% wrong. Onna concludes with the consideration that Tutor may have gravitated toward Fighter because he helped Tutor realize that sometimes you don't have to be serious and sometimes darting rather that a straight line in life may actually be better.

In this episode of Check It/Round Table Onna discusses WHY RU Episode 6 the Thai BL drama series, https://youtu.be/kufe6untb_w. Onna considers how this episode covers the fact that Tutor and Fighter are finally getting to the point when they are admitting that they do like one another with a scene where Fighter is trying to see where Tutor's head is at regarding their relationship where Fighter states "if you plan on being with me, you need to stay for a long time" and Tutor is trying to figure out if he is in jest or in earnest or regarding tutoring. Onna considers how Hwah vs. Tutor is really a no contest with character taken into account as Fighter is considering his relationship possibilities because Hwah is not a dragon slayer and when it comes to relationships because when looking for a good relationships it is best to be the type of person who slays their own dragons and helps to slay the person you care about slay their dragons. Onna continues on with how the interplay of Tutor and Fighter's will is interesting to watch and how Tutor's question to Fighter, "Are you sure you know what you are doing?" because Tutor realizes that their relationship could cost Fighter and he wants to make sure Fighter realizes that and how Tutor does this because he thinks about others, more than himself, is an important question to ask
Onna concludes with how parenting skills can go super wrong when parents berate their children as Fighter's dad does. Because as kids grow, they need to know your motivation is not self-interest or the status quo, which won't really work on young adults with a moral compass and an analytical mind that knows self-interest and status quo are stupid things to be motivated by. Onna considers how assumptions are often wrong and if you don't know the whole story, you shouldn't posit things because it is self-destructive because we really should be our better selves before we sit down and discuss things with out kids. In this episode of What the BL--Check It/Round Table Onna gives an in-depth review of the Theory of Love Thai BL drama series. Onna also explains why she likes some Thai BL drama because the people who end up together are drawn to one another for better reasons (like conversation, character traits, and consideration) than those shown in Rom Coms (physical attraction, etc.) and because they deal with individuals who often are dealing with the after effects of sexual abuse as children, PTSD, etc. and how to move forward in life and with relationships with these issues. Onna considers why Two, despite his faults, has the awesome ability to be a good friend to Third, Khai, and Bone and to just "be there" for those he cares about. Onna also considers why she really relates to Third and his thought-processes concerning his liking of Khai and the impossibility of that relationship; but also, his inability to consider being in relationship with someone else. Onna considers Khai and how he develops similarly to the character of Tom Paris from being a stupid ingrate to being slightly less so by the end of this series. Onna considers the difference in relationships between roommates and a dating partner. Onna considers how you can tell where a film is filmed in Asia by the hairstyle of the actors and how crushes are based on ideals rather than actualities and how you should go after specific people--not an idea. Onna considers the main quote from the series that serves as a turning point is "opportunities sometimes only come once."
After the turning point of Khai deciding to pursue Third, after Third has given up on the possibly of being with Khai and this situation is poignant because Khai has to figure out his own individuality and be responsible for his past as well as his present. Onna also considers how kissing a random person because you are heartbroken is a bad reason to kiss someone and how rearranging your condo and watching anime just because they know the other party likes organization and anime, is kind of charming in a blundering, idiotic way. Onna describes the bloody hilariousness of the first date of Khai and Third and the text convo with Two and Bone.
Onna concludes this review with the last episode and the creation of a production company and a commercial on the Theory of Love based off of Khai's failed relationships and how 4 years later, P'Un and Two are still together and Khai and Third are still together and how Khai should never be responsible for turning off a camera and the romantical mayhem and plethora of comments that ensue. Onna also considers how this series asks how do you deal with the misunderstand and the understanding in relationships and also how it also shows how life and relationships do indeed have relationships. Onna also admits to watching this movie while dealing with some personal issues and how this series helped her re-frame those issues and consider how to apply some of the Theory of Love's truths in her own life with the issues she's facing with similar feelings to that of Third in the ability to compute in difficulty and how to handle the misunderstandings and the miscommunication in her own life.
