In this short lesson, we look at the position of frequency adverbs Vs. the position of expressions of frequency. There are differences.
I focus mostly on the frequency adverb "occasionally" and give a few good alternative expressions with the same meaning.

Let's take a look at the use of "anticipate" and the phrasal verb "bring forward".
"anticipate" can be considered a "false friend" in some languages, which means it looks like a similar word in your own language, but it may have a completely different meaning.

This is a short lesson that looks at the use of the GERUND in English and is the first of a series on the Gerund and the Infinitive.
Specifically, here we see how the gerund is used at the beginning of a sentence when speaking about ACTIVITIES and also after PREPOSITIONS.

Summarising, we could say that MAKE is more to do with building or changing the state of something, whereas DO is used for actions. But listen to the lesson to hear some examples of each case.

In this short lesson we look at the verbs WAIT, HOPE and EXPECT.
These verbs are used to express anticipation and wishes.
In some languages, for example Spanish, there may only be one verb that covers all three meanings, which is only evident in the context of the sentence.
In Spanish, the verb ESPERAR is used:
I wait for the bus
Espero el autobus
I hope they win the match.
Espero que ganan el partido.
I expect them to win as they are the best team.
Espero que ganan, son los mejores.

In this one, we take a look at the uses of NONE and NEITHER and check to see if they are are used with "singular" or "plural" nouns.
Please note: I mention singular and plural verb forms during the lesson.... What I should have said was, it depends on whether the "subjects" are singular or plural. "I" for example is only one person whereas we use "they" for more than one person. This is only an issue with the verb "to be" where we would see the following changes in the verb form:
I am / was
You are / were
he is / was
she is / was
it is / was
we are / were
you are / were
they are / were
Verbs themselves are not singular or plural and in most cases the verb form from subject to subject does not change, apart from adding a 3rd person "s" in the present tense only.
For example:
I play
you play
he plays
she plays
it plays
you play
we play
they play
I hope that cleared up any possible confusion.
