Jesus tells the Pharisees that if he testifies about himself, his testimony is void but then the Pharisees identify an instance when he testifies about himself and says it is allowed. Paradoxes like this one are precisely why the religious leaders put Jesus to death. Imaginative Exercise through Matthew 5:1-7. Imagine yourself by the Sea of Galilee with the sunshine on your face and the wind gently blowing. Jesus takes his seat as Rabbi and begins teaching. He uses the word "Blessed" and looks directly at you to remind you that you are blessed even in your lack. Spend time with Jesus today letting him speak with you as he would a friend.
