Our summer camp theme this year is: Flip! It’s our shortest theme ever! We’ll be talking about how sin flips the world upside down, but God flips it right side up. Sometimes in surprising ways. He even takes the tools our enemy means for our destruction and flips them into the very tools for our deliverance. Our theme verse is 1 Peter 2:24 - He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
In this episode, Taylor and Eric walk through each day’s main idea and a few of the stories our counselors and chapel speakers will be using this summer to teach campers. Enjoy!

Our speaker this year is Jonathan Lotz. Jonathan comes from a well-known family. He is the grandson of evangelist Billy Graham and the son of Danny & Anne Graham Lotz. Even so, Jonathan is no stranger to pain and suffering. He has experienced athletic disappointment, abuse, cancer, divorce, unemployment, and Covid-19. Jonathan tells of how God has brought him through challenge after challenge. You’ll be infused with hope as he shares his story of how God changed his life through the power of the cross of Jesus Christ. Jonathan is an ordained evangelist and currently serves as an interim pastor for The Revolution Church in Garner, NC. He has also served as a delivery driver, an assistant varsity basketball coach, and a hospitality director at Chick-fil-A. In every role he seeks to integrate his faith in Jesus Christ and utilize his gifts in hospitality, administration, encouragement, customer service, and servant leadership. As an evangelist, Jonathan is committed to preaching the Word of God and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world in need of hope. We were able to attend the 2022 EFCA Central District Leadership Conference on March 7-8 at Valley Church in West Des Moines, and it was a blast. While there, we caught up with some old friends to ask about their history with camp and the impact it’s had on them.

The speaker was Paul Bauman, Director of Church Multiplication at the Central District of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Here’s how he summarized his chapel messages:
Men inside and outside the church know on some level they have a God-given responsibility to lead in spite of what current culture is teaching. The challenge is that most men often feel inadequate to pursue their responsibility, and these feelings of inadequacy are often grounded in misconceptions of what God requires of us as men. Let’s OVERCOME these misconceptions and pursue God’s leadership mandate for men. We’ll dig into what Scripture says about the process for spiritual victory in our lives, the role of anger in our lives, the need for friendship in our lives, and the impact of our leadership in the lives of others.

Men inside and outside the church know on some level they have a God-given responsibility to lead in spite of what current culture is teaching. The challenge is that most men often feel inadequate to pursue their responsibility, and these feelings of inadequacy are often grounded in misconceptions of what God requires of us as men. Let’s OVERCOME these misconceptions and pursue God’s leadership mandate for men. We’ll dig into what Scripture says about the process for spiritual victory in our lives, the role of anger in our lives, the need for friendship in our lives, and the impact of our leadership in the lives of others.
