The undisputed PGA 2020 Players Champion, The Big Cat, Mr. Aaron Flener. The Players Champion is an inside joke for the golf community, however Aaron did in fact win the caddy competition at the event. He is the caddy for one of the top golfers in the world, J.T. Poston! Before traveling the world and seeing some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world, Aaron came to Lipscomb from Glasgow, KY. In fact, all three Flener brothers attended LU, with Aaron being the eldest. He was on the LU men's golf team with country music favorite, Dustin Lynch. Aaron also joined Tau Phi with a handful of guys from the golf team, including Paul Warren. We lost Paul to a tragic car accident back in 2011 and we dedicate this Lpisode in his honor. We certainly miss him! Aaron is also no stranger to the microphone and we feature one of his big hits that went viral, a golf parody tune, "Stroll Around Augusta".
When you think of strong women in leadership, you should think of Jocasta! At a young age, Jo had ambitions of being involved and leading others; everything from Girl Scouts & Safety Patrol to meteorology and becoming a lawyer. She came to Lipscomb as a freshman in 2005, spending the next four years serving on Student Government Association, Student Alumni Association and was a member of Pi Delta. After Lipscomb she attended pharmacy school and has pursued a career in the healthcare field, where she is now writing policy as Manager of Clinical Innovation at CareSource. Residing with her husband Nick in Anchorage, AL, she's stays very active at the local and state level. Jocasta serves as Diversity Coordinator for the Alaska Chamber of Commerce and sits on the boards of The Alaska Black Caucus and The Anchorage Public Library. We also talk about her roots in the Catholic church, healthcare equality and the dispersion of accurate healthcare information to underserved populations.... and much more!

We cover a wide range of topics in these episodes including Bourbon, the Black Churches of Christ, 1st Kisses, Meeting the Parents, Kids & Life Changes, Racial Profiling, the Healthcare industry and more. Nate & Ashley have three children and they now reside in the Brentwood TN area. We talk about the joys & challenges of parenting, including providing the right learning & development resources for children with autism. Also, we talk about the adoption of their son from Ethiopia. The process of adoption can be long & challenging, but it is filled with countless blessings & rewards, take the Miller's word on it! Lastly, we talk about racial tensions within our country and specifically what we should be doing as a Lipscomb alum community, a church community and as people of faith that are on Mission!

Ie, the venue, dress, flowers, invitation, food or music. But there's one thing the bride must have and that's Justin Wright Photography! His work has been featured on Inside Edition, The Knot, Style Me Pretty, Nashville Lifestyles and more. He's even been the Chief Photographer for the State of TN. Before all that, he went to high school in Johannesburg, South Africa, played in the "Sanctuary Band" as a student at Lipscomb and was the youth minister at West End Church of Christ!

From the early days of her youth, Sarah Catherine's parents placed a vision & passion in her heart for the people of Honduras. The Thetfords, along with many other families from the Lipscomb community have given a lifetime of service to the boys at Jovenes en Camino; an 8.8 acre campus & home for the orphaned, abused and abandoned boys of Tegucigalpa. Sarah Catherine (Scat), continued to visit & support Jovenes throughout her high school, college and young adult life. After attending Lipscomb University from 2006-2010, she met her husband Richy Teixeira, who also had heart for missions and the under-served. Scat's passion for serving lead her into the non-profit space, working several years with United Way. In 2018, the seed planted in her heart for Honduras came full circle for, as she became the Executive Director (Stateside) for Jovenes en Camino. Scat now works full time advancing the mission of Jovenes through marketing & events, fundraising and taking groups to experience serving this community firsthand! Scat and Richy live in Franklin, TN with their daughter Willa, and a son on the way!

Hola desde Barcelona! Long before moving to Spain, a guy from Memphis and a gal from Florida met at Lipscomb. That was Dan LaVelle and Leslie Romeu! Their adventures started in Nashville and have taken them all over the globe, to places like China, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and now to Barcelona, Spain where they reside with their dog Rico. Leslie traded-in her infamous Roller Derby persona, "Cruella LaVelle", for yoga & skating on the beaches of the Balearic Sea. Her experiences working for a variety of tech companies has also lead her to starting her own private consulting firm. Once upon a time, Dan had a long flowing mane of blonde hair & was the owner of Music City Hypnotherapy in Nashville. Despite chopping of the hair, he's still practicing therapy & running his own private therapy practice, working with his clients from around the world over Zoom, while they enjoy their new life in Spain! Disfrutar!

JP... #34... Poindexter! James is an LU Bison basketball legend. During the 2002-03 - 2005-06 seasons, James made his mark on the rich history of Lipscomb basketball as a 1,000 career point scorer. He earned his spot on the all-time list of Bison scorers, (#31) in LU's history books. Most importantly JP lead Lipscomb from the NAIA era into the NCAA era, helping the Bisons earn their first Atlantic Sun regular season championship and a bid to the NIT tournament! These days he's coaching high school basketball and molding the hearts & minds of students in the great state of Alabama, while raising his son, James "Peezy" Poindexter.

Unbeknownst to either of them, this was the start of a long journey and battle with Sarcoma; a rare form of cancer that occurs in the bones & soft tissues. As Jessica turned 30, she and Nathan were faced with the decision to amputate her right leg, in order to prevent the cancer from spreading throughout the rest of her body. Following the surgery, Jessica went through 17 rounds of chemotherapy over the next 14 months. Today Jessica is cancer free! Through the storm, God was faithful & the Douglas' have new additions to their family as well! Their son William and another on the way!
