Diverse perspective sharing: Connecting practitioners from various contexts enables cross-pollination of ideas.2. Mental model development: Presentations on local adaptations help participants develop new approaches to potential solutions.3. Metacognition promotion: Q&A sessions encourage critical thinking about current methods and attitudes.4. Affective factor management: Peer testimonials provide motivation through relatable experiences of overcoming barriers.5. Collaboration support: Group discussions facilitate collective examination of challenges specific to different communities.This approach aims to complement evidence-based practices by providing a framework for knowledge translation that addresses gaps in traditional capacity-building methods.The model focuses on continuous learning and peer exchange to tackle complex global health challenges.TGLF’s model offers practical recommendations for implementation, such as emphasizing participant experience, providing guidance for knowledge translation, and acknowledging connectivity challenges in frontline settings.These considerations reflect the realities faced by health workers in diverse field contexts.While further research is needed to directly link these learning interventions to immunization coverage outcomes, initial findings suggest potential in generating insights, fostering continuous learning cultures, and promoting adoption of new strategies for reaching zero-dose children.The ZDLH-X model presents a data-driven, scalable approach to addressing persistent challenges in global health.By leveraging collective knowledge and experience of frontline workers, this peer learning approach aims to complement existing technical assistance methods.Its emphasis on learning culture, double-loop learning, and the connection between learning and performance offers a perspective on tackling complex global health challenges that warrants further exploration and evaluation.

Practical example of Root Cause Analysishttps://www.learning.foundation/nigeria## Asking “why” five times: Uncovering the real causes of recurring malaria in childrenUsing a practical example of a child repeatedly treated for malaria, the Collaborative demonstrates the root cause analysis approach.Instead of settling for quick fixes, participants are encouraged to ask “why” five times to uncover the underlying issues:1. Why does this child keep getting malaria?2. Why are so many children in your village getting malaria?3. Why are there so many mosquitoes near your homes?4. Why is there stagnant water around the village?5. Why are the drainage systems blocked and broken?“Once you’ve asked why five times, what you find is very different from where you started out, regardless of how much or how little you know about malaria and the context of that particular community.”This showcases how the Collaborative will approach immunization challenges during the peer learning exercise.

As the facilitator explained, "We're interested in having you tell us about a specific situation and what you did in response to it."Some compelling stories shared included:- Felicity from Nigeria who held community awareness campaigns to address parental misconceptions: "We had to have a kind of community awareness and with that it has really helped us go a long way. I will have more children being immunized." - Udoji from Nigeria who used geospatial analysis to identify areas with many zero-dose children: "We develop an ODK using the geospatial analysis where the supervisor each team that have they go out for vaccination the supervisor will record the children immunize we then we have the choice position of that team where they have work and when they start and when they end their work."- Vishesh from India who deployed nursing students to conduct house-to-house registration of zero-dose children: "More than thousand nursing students were deployed in that city they went house to house and they registered all zero to five year children electronically and then they were followed up and vaccinated."UNICEF Guides on the side emphasized holistic planning, understanding the heterogeneity of urban populations, targeted communication strategies, and leveraging technology and partnerships to identify and reach zero-dose children. They provided guidance and suggestions in response to the real-world experiences shared.

“Do you consider climate change a threat to the health of those you serve?” That was the key question posed to over 4,700 attending health professionals at The Geneva Learning Foundation’s 9th Teach to Reach event.Learn more: https://www.learning.foundation/cop28As Kingsley Nniere, a community health worker from Ghana, explained, “Climate change is actually a threat…with severe downpour of rains…most of the rivers are flooded and most of the ghatas are flooded. And…it brings a lot of mosquitoes and these mosquitoes bite the community members and…gives them malaria.”Other health workers echoed Kingsley’s sentiments. Dr. Tuusime Ramadan, a retired doctor in Uganda, highlighted how “climate change has caused problems to very many people we serve,” including floods destroying “homes, destroy crops, destroy houses,” drought killing livestock, and storms damaging health facilities. Participants explored connections between environmental changes - from drinking water access to extreme heat - and specific health impacts in their communities. The virtual session featured climate and health perspectives shared directly from the frontlines in Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, and beyond. It brought together nearly 2000 immunization practitioners from 84 countries, with a focus on Bangladesh and Mali.What can we learn from ZDLH-X?It provided a unique opportunity for frontline health workers and immunization staff at sub-national levels to directly share their challenges, successes, and innovations related to addressing zero-dose issues.Participants could contribute before, during and after the event - sharing experiences, learning from peers, and reflecting on how to apply insights in their own context.What is different about ZDLH-X?The interactive format encouraged direct exchanges between peers rather than passive learning, which is more impactful based on learning science. Facilitators and experts played a supporting role.Over 600 experiences and insights were shared related to identifying hard-to-reach populations, community engagement, service delivery strategies, dealing with conflict, vaccine hesitancy and more.84% of participants from Bangladesh and Mali said the event changed them as a professional and 69% said it helped their practice.Key innovations that made it a breakthrough:- Leveraging digital platforms to connect a community of practitioners across hierarchy, geographies and languages.- Fostering peer-to-peer exchange as co-learners focused on a shared goal.- Building on experiences before and after the live event as part of a learning continuum.- Primarily sub-national participants sharing field innovations rarely heard at international events.- Facilitating local networking and empowering practitioners to lead change.

Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030 (#IA2030): Leaders share their journey from ideas to impact at Teach to Reach 8 on 16 June 2023Let’s go back in time to the 7th of March 2022.And many of you in the room, attending In Teach To Reach 8 today, in our Zoom studio, know that was the date when you joined the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030).Now, this was a four-month learning cycle in which you worked intensively together to do a number of things, starting by sharing ideas and practices and figuring out what the ideas and practices of others meant to you.Moving on to situation analysis, diagnosing the root cause of an immunization challenge that you face where you work, in your facility, in your district, in your region, in your country, if you work at the national level.Moving on to then mapping out corrective actions.This was in May 2022.Over a thousand members of the Movement for IA 2030 developed action plans.These action plans were finalized on the 17th of June, 2022 at Teach to Reach 6.Here we are now, over a year later.And we’re going to hear in this next segment, what have leaders of the Movement achieved? How has it turned out? Has it actually made a difference? These are the kinds of questions that we want to explore now.Before we do, we’re pleased to share the first three IA 2030 Movement implementation case studies. You’re going to see three faces of leaders that you may or may not know, starting with Wasnam Faye from Senegal, Last night, a midwife in Senegal was sent off, shipped off, to run a health post in rural Senegal with little experience of immunization and country backup.And she says it was a colleague, a fellow scholar, a fellow leader of the Movement for IA2030, who showed her how to keep an immunization registry, who showed her the basics of running her facility.With the support of that scholar and other leaders, she’s been able to take the Penta 3 coverage from 8% when she arrived to more than 80%.Think about it.And she says that many of the ideas that she used came from the Movement and from Teach to Reach.For example, she introduced vaccine angels as community liaison points, so peer educators, caregivers, who function as peer educators.And that idea she first heard at Teach to Reach.The second case study of IA2030 implementation is that of Frank Monga, District Medical Officer in Lumumbashi.Now he’s been participating in the TGLF network. He introduced a token scheme to catch up on zero-dose children in the DRC. He was selected in July 2019 to lead the national network in the country and this network has grown to the point where the Ministry of Health, the national planners attend the meetings led by Frank and his peers because it is an incredibly useful way to get information from all over the country.Think about it.These are achievements of leaders of the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030.Our Movement is global.And so the third case study is Maréa Fernanda Monzón, who runs a primary health care center in Corrientes, Argentina.And she’s focused on enhancing coverage in a nearby slum area where the population is not motivated to seek immunization services.These three case studies are available now.We share the links with all Teach for Each participants.Go, you may be inspired, you may find useful ideas and practices that you can use in your implementation.We’re now going to turn to some of the implementers, some of the leaders of IA 2030 who have been working for more than a year now on their implementing their action plans.We’ve recently asked them to share an acceleration report, what we call Acceleration to Impact, in which we asked them to update us on how their implementation is going.And for those of you who are new to the Movement, who have not joined yet this Movement for immunization agenda 2030, the world’s strategy adopted unanimously at the World Health Assembly in 2020.Well, you’re going to receive the invitation as a Teach to Reach participant to join this Movement and also develop your own IA 2030 action plan, begin thinking through that process from learning to action to results ultimately to impact.

Networking and plenary sessions had a particular focus on (1) use of the TGLF Ideas Engine, a repository of advice, ideas and practices provided by participants on the TGLF learning programme; (2) interpersonal communication and use of the UNICEF guide/toolkit; and (3) use of root cause analysis to identify underlying reasons for low coverage. Plenary sessions focused on: (1) sharing experiences in development and implementation of IA2030 Action Plans; (2) local challenges and building back better post-pandemic; and (3) the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These themes, together with three guiding questions , provided a structure for peer learning, although participants remained free to discuss whatever they found meaningful in the main event networking activity which consists of a series of individual, private meetings (“speed dating”) with one other randomly-selected participant each other.14,134 health professionals (7,667 anglophones and 6,467 francophones) participated asynchronously, receiving and responding to event resources such as slide decks, stories, and guidance.Over 2,400 watched the livestreamed plenary session on YouTube and other social media channels.1240 participated in networking sessions: 759 English speakers, 418 French speakers, 53 bilinguals, and 10 global partners. This Accelerator is the first of a series of initiatives to help achieve Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030).

SITUATION OVERVIEW Describe in a few points the context Our 85-year-old mother and grandmother was reluctant to have a COVID vaccine for fear of adverse events following immunization, insisted that she is not used to being vaccinated, and said that she would just stay home to avoid COVID
Explain briefly how you diagnosed the reasons for low uptake She was scared because of reports from media and other friends saying that the vaccine can cause harm
THE SOLUTION Describe briefly how you selected the interventions used Since her son is known to us we thought of an occasion, Mothers Day to show her that her son wanted her to be safe by being vaccinated and asked the expert panel to talk to her and convince her to get the COVID vaccine
Explain briefly what you did We featured her in our podcast program for Facebook users to air her concerns and talk to several experts who are vaccinologists, some of which were known to her.
Primary group engaged: specifically indicate if/how you engaged high-risk and vulnerable groups …Through Social media and Facebook contacts, we encouraged people to join us every Saturday night and let us know their problems and talk to real experts to give their advice. We also feature an intermission dance and some relaxation exercises at times to relieve the stresses they feel.
Describe how you measured outcomes Not long after our podcast the son told us his mom was happy to be vaccinated and we had her again on the subsequent podcast to tell her story.
Describe briefly the results of the interventions She got the vaccine and said she felt loved by our group
Were you able to measure impact? How? Yes in many ways if we get a success story like this, meaning people say they are convinced that the vaccine will be safe and working effectively and willing to tell others about it, we are indeed happy and grateful. We believe that gradually, the numbers of those vaccine hesitants are decreasing in our country but we have to continue to get the right information to people and discriminate against fake news and disinformation.
Provide tips and learnings on what worked with this approach The Mom felt that her son really wanted her to be safe and will get the experts to listen and talk to her
What were the enabling factors to ensure success? Son was expressing his love and concern for his mom and made the special occasion of Mothers Day to express his feelings.
Think about how this approach could be applied in other contexts – what should colleagues know to adapt it? Understanding the nature and feelings of family and loved ones would be beneficial to make those hesitant to feel better secure and perhaps choosing special occasions and demonstrations of love and affection would really help.

Côte d’Ivoire Hackathon to accelerate COVID-19 vaccination: Presentation at the UNICEF COVID-19 Vaccine Demand Global Event
SITUATION OVERVIEW * National team planned COVID-19 vaccination campaign for December 2021 * Health workforce COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy is a potentially significant hurdle to role as “trusted adviser” to communities * Health workforce (HRH) capabilities are obviously key to success, but time is not available for traditional capability development processes. * Lessons learned need to be shared rapidly, especially how to adapt national guidance to local contexts, but existing mechanisms are primarily vertical (top-down)
PROBLEM STATEMENT How to rapidly strengthen INHP-EPI and partner staff HRH capabilities based on “what works”, ahead of a national COVID-19 vaccination campaign (10-20 December 2021) to vaccinate 6 million people in Côte d’Ivoire.
A health worker shared this testimonial: “I was so afraid of the vaccine that I refused to get vaccinated even though I was encouraging communities to do so. After three months of observing my colleagues who had already been vaccinated, I took my courage in both hands and vaccinated myself. I now feel comfortable again to continue community outreach.”
THE SOLUTION IN 7 DAYS: TGLF’s fully-digital Hackathon package was deployed by a country-based team of alumni volunteers with EPI and INPH support to connect more than 500 country and health workers who developed 165 context-specific action plans to accelerate COVID-19 vaccination.
Capability development embedded into activities focused on urgent priorities, rather than requiring stakeholders to set aside priorities in order to learn.
MEASUREMENT * Outcomes measured by national EPI through actual vaccination uptake during national campaign matched to implementation of Hackathon action plans. * Hackathon participants self-reported implementation; shared photos of actual implementation of their action plans.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INTERVENTION Country and health worker ownership: Led by the TGLF alumni network in Côte d’Ivoire embedded in national EPI team, with participation from all system levels and peers from 20 other countries.
Speed: In 10 days, TGLF developed the hackathon with the Côte d’Ivoire Alumni team. Over nine days, without stopping their daily work, participants developed 165 peer-reviewed context-specific action plans, primarily to overcome COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy.
Scale: In five days, 501 applicants were recruited.
Diversity: Ivorian participants represented 96 health districts (85% of total) in Côte d’Ivoire: 51% district, 21% facility, 15% national, 11% regional.
Impact: If implemented, action plans estimated to vaccinate 3.5M people with a funding gap requiring an additional 0.26 USD per vaccination. 71% of participants implemented their action plans during the national vaccination campaign. 82% of respondents reported having found a solution to better conduct the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
Sustainability: 78% of respondents felt “capable” of using the methodology for their own needs, and 82% want to organize their own hackathon with their colleagues.
KEY TAKE-AWAYS 1. Hackathon participants found local solutions that they were able to integrate and use in the campaign to anticipate, prevent, mitigate, and respond to COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy

This is a fillable questionnaire that asks you to identify a challenge, your goal against that challenge, three specific actions, and key indicators.
What actually happens during the Impact Accelerator? • Each Monday, we challenge you to define one action that you will complete by Friday. This action should be something practical that helps you implement your IA2030 Action Plan. • During the week, you focus on carrying out this one action. • On Friday, we ask you if you did it – and how it turned out. You are also invited to share your experience, to help you and others learn what it takes to successfully implement an action plan. During the weekly Assembly, the entire Movement comes together to present the week’s successes and lessons learned, as well as the most significant challenges that are impeding your progress.
How much time is required? • It is up to you to estimate how long it will take to implement your IA2030 Action Plan. • During the four-week Launch Pad, there is a one-hour Assembly every Monday, supplemented by optional workshops on Tuesday and Friday to share your experience and to get help from your colleagues in implementing your Plan.
Will there be certification? • Upon completion of all certification requirements and validation of your IA2030 Action Plan by the Geneva Learning Foundation and its partners, you will receive an Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) Level 1 certificate from the Foundation. • If you have already completed a situational analysis, the certificate you will receive will be a Level 2, reflecting your previous involvement in the IA2030 Movement.
What are the certification requirements? 1 Submit your IA2030 action plan. 2 Set a specific goal you will achieve by 17 June 2022. 3 When requested, complete reports to share your progress.
How are global immunization partners involved in the IA2030 Impact Accelerator? This is an opportunity to have your voice heard. We are collaborating with IA2030 working groups created by WHO, UNICEF, Gavi, and other international partners. These groups are interested in consultative engagement to listen to and better support country-based immunization staff. Partners are especially interested in what makes a difference in ensuring that implementation leads to real improvements.
What if I cannot attend the Monday Assembly? The Monday session is the only time during the week when everyone from the IA2030 Movement is together at the same time. 1) Melese Teferi from the National level in Ethiopia has as a challenge to reduce by 50% the number of zero-dose children in the country within the next 2 years. This week, his action is to meet with key stakeholders involved in introducing integrated immunization services.
2) Emmanuel Katugwa from Yobe State, Nigeria has carried out in complete risk analysis of Routine immunization and VPD surveillance performance by Local Government Area in his state and is now ready to discuss with key stakeholders on the appropriate mitigation activities.

2) Maryama A. Idris at the Sub-national level in Nigeria has a goal to increase vaccine uptake in her health facility by soliciting support from the LGA and State public health development agencies.
3) James V. T. Tuckolon from Liberia is engaging key academic stakeholders (teachers, principals, administrators, and parents) to secure their support and increase the uptake of COVID-19 vaccines among school children in his health district.

What actually happens during the Impact Accelerator? • Each Monday, we challenge you to define one action that you will complete by Friday. This action should be something practical that helps you implement your IA2030 Action Plan. • During the week, you focus on carrying out this one action. • On Friday, we ask you if you did it – and how it turned out. You are also invited to share your experience, to help you and others learn what it takes to successfully implement an action plan. During the weekly Assembly, the entire Movement comes together to present the week’s successes and lessons learned, as well as the most significant challenges that are impeding your progress.
How much time is required? • It is up to you to estimate how long it will take to implement your IA2030 Action Plan. • During the four-week Launch Pad, there is a one-hour Assembly every Monday, supplemented by optional workshops on Tuesday and Friday to share your experience and to get help from your colleagues in implementing your Plan.
Will there be certification? • Upon completion of all certification requirements and validation of your IA2030 Action Plan by the Geneva Learning Foundation and its partners, you will receive an Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) Level 1 certificate from the Foundation. • If you have already completed a situational analysis, the certificate you will receive will be a Level 2, reflecting your previous involvement in the IA2030 Movement.
What are the certification requirements? 1 Submit your IA2030 action plan. 2 Set a specific goal you will achieve by 17 June 2022. 3 When requested, complete reports to share your progress.
How are global immunization partners involved in the IA2030 Impact Accelerator? This is an opportunity to have your voice heard. We are collaborating with IA2030 working groups created by WHO, UNICEF, Gavi, and other international partners. These groups are interested in consultative engagement to listen to and better support country-based immunization staff. Partners are especially interested in what makes a difference in ensuring that implementation leads to real improvements.
What if I cannot attend the Monday Assembly? The Monday session is the only time during the week when everyone from the IA2030 Movement is together at the same time. It is a great time for both practical information (what you need to do, when and how) and for inspiration (why you want to do it and how it will help your daily work). • You can watch the recordings or listen to the podcast afterwards. • You can join the Tuesday and Thursday experience sharing sessions.

I am one of the 6,000 who joined the Movement for IA2030 in March 2022. This was after working for over 10 years for the Ministry of Health in the South Region of my country. We responded to Dr Tedros’s Call at last year’s World Health Assembly for “a groundswell of support for immunization.” Everyone who joins the Movement comes with a goal to solve a key challenge, like reaching remote rural areas, working with the urban poor, or serving mobile populations. But what struck me is how often a new Member says: “I thought that only my country is facing this challenge”.
Any one of these challenges is difficult. Most of us are facing several at once. These challenges cannot be overcome by any one immunization worker, any one country, or any one organization, no matter how smart, powerful, or well-funded. Vaccines work when we work together, across borders and boundaries.
In the first two weeks, Immunization practitioners from around the world shared 941 ideas and practices through the Ideas Engine, a digital platform developed by the Geneva Learning Foundation. Most of us are government workers from the so-called lower levels of the health system. Through this digital platform, we are working side-by-side with colleagues from national teams, in-country partners, and civil society organizations. Yes, our mission remains to carry out our ministry’s plan. To do so requires us to adapt and tailor our actions hand in hand with the communities we serve. We are defying distance to support each other, using our own local resources and capacities to achieve the goals of IA2030. The Movement offers no per diem, no lure of funding, or other extrinsic incentives. Yet, every week, Members from all over the world meet to share experience.
Last Thursday, Wasnam Faye MAME SOKHNA joined us. A midwife, she was transferred from a hospital to a poorly-performing, poorly-resourced rural health facility. Within months, she turned around her facility. She went from vaccinating 4 children to 30 children per session. Who was there to help her? It was a fellow Member of the Movement… who lives 3,560 kilometers away. Using only email and WhatsApp, he shared his practical experience of how to organize vaccination sessions, how to order vaccines, and how to write a monthly vaccination report. In response to low vaccine uptake, she created a team of “Angels,” turning mothers into peer educators. That idea came from the IA2030 Ideas Engine.
You will undoubtedly hear many personal stories during the World Health Assembly. The significance of this story is not only that an exemplary leader was able to improve performance. It is how she did so, by connecting in a digital human network of peers united by a common purpose.
There is one challenge that is especially close to my heart. Earlier this year, 143 women from 38 countries formed the Women Who Deliver Vaccines collective. We believe that if we could integrate women at all levels of decision making, this will strengthen leadership for immunization. We would never have connected without this Movement.
IA2030 is the common strand that binds us, across so many different boundaries of geography, job roles, system levels – and gender. Connecting those working in rural health facilities, staff from national government workers, and even members of the global IA2030 working groups based here in Geneva.
Gordon Yibey is a health facility worker. His goal in the IA2030 Movement is to find new ways to involve fathers in routine immunization. “The Movement has set a new pace for us,” he said, “making us realize how important our local work is in making a global impact.”
Dr Folake Olayinka, USAID’s Immunization Team Lead, summed it up in this way: “We have said that we want to listen and that co-creation is very important. The Geneva Learning Foundation brings a direct link to [people on the frontlines]. This is exactly the type of innovative approach that we need to overcome the complex challenges we are faced with in global health.”

I am convinced that, with your support, we can ignite a fire, helping this Movement grow and thrive until the goals of IA2030 are attained.
It is critical to strengthen the global health architecture to watch for the next pandemic, to prepare for it, and to rapidly manufacture new vaccines. It is an equally vital investment to build a global platform connecting people and communities. This is the potential of the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030.

What is a “Hackathon”? This methodology is based on experimentation (“the hack”) to solve complex problems. The Geneva Learning Foundation has adapted this innovative learning methodology to the field of immunization.
Who is this for? Immunization and other Primary Health Care (PHC) staff from any level of the health system. When does the Hackathon take place? We encourage you to join before 9 May 2022. You can join any time before 20 May.
What are the main benefits of joining the IA2030 Hackathon? “I can tell you this experience changed my life. It has changed my practice and made me think differently about the way I work, considering things I did not think about before.” 1 Share experience with colleagues from all over the world. 2 Get help with your toughest challenge. 3 Get fresh ideas to help you succeed.
How do I join the Hackathon? • If you are already a Member of the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030, you have received by email the invitation to join. You simply need to click on the button link in that email to join. • If you are not yet a Member, go to this page and click on JOIN MOVEMENT.
How much time is required? • The total time required to develop your IA2030 Action Plan should be around 4 hours over two weeks. • There is a one-hour live session each Monday, complemented by optional workshops to share experience and get help with your Action Plan.
What will I do with my IA2030 Action Plan? • Everyone who develops their IA2030 Action Plan will be invited to join the 2nd IA2030 Impact Accelerator, a four-week launch pad to help you kickstart actions to tackle your most difficult and important challenge. • Completion of an IA2030 Action Plan is required to join the 2nd IA2030 Impact Accelerator that will start on 23 May 2022.
Will there be certification? • Upon successful completion of an activity and following validation of your IA2030 Action Plan by the Geneva Learning Foundation and its partners, you will receive an Immunization Agenda 2030 Level 1 certificate issued by the Foundation. • If you already completed situation analysis, the certificate you earn will be Level 2, reflecting your prior commitment to the IA2030 Movement.

What is a “Hackathon”? This methodology is based on experimentation (“the hack”) to solve complex problems. The Geneva Learning Foundation has adapted this innovative learning methodology to the field of immunization.
Who is this for? Immunization and other Primary Health Care (PHC) staff from any level of the health system. When does the Hackathon take place? We encourage you to join before 9 May 2022. You can join any time before 20 May.
What are the main benefits of joining the IA2030 Hackathon? “I can tell you this experience changed my life. It has changed my practice and made me think differently about the way I work, considering things I did not think about before.” 1 Share experience with colleagues from all over the world. 2 Get help with your toughest challenge. 3 Get fresh ideas to help you succeed.
How do I join the Hackathon? • If you are already a Member of the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030, you have received by email the invitation to join. You simply need to click on the button link in that email to join. • If you are not yet a Member, go to this page and click on JOIN MOVEMENT.
How much time is required? • The total time required to develop your IA2030 Action Plan should be around 4 hours over two weeks. • There is a one-hour live session each Monday, complemented by optional workshops to share experience and get help with your Action Plan.
What will I do with my IA2030 Action Plan? • Everyone who develops their IA2030 Action Plan will be invited to join the 2nd IA2030 Impact Accelerator, a four-week launch pad to help you kickstart actions to tackle your most difficult and important challenge. • Completion of an IA2030 Action Plan is required to join the 2nd IA2030 Impact Accelerator that will start on 23 May 2022.
Will there be certification? • Upon successful completion of an activity and following validation of your IA2030 Action Plan by the Geneva Learning Foundation and its partners, you will receive an Immunization Agenda 2030 Level 1 certificate issued by the Foundation. • If you already completed situation analysis, the certificate you earn will be Level 2, reflecting your prior commitment to the IA2030 Movement.
How are global immunization partners involved in the IA2030 Hackathon? This is an opportunity to make your voice heard: We will be engaging with the IA2030 Working Groups created by WHO, UNICEF, Gavi, and other global partners, who want to listen and better support immunization staff in countries.
What will you be expected to do in the IA2030 Hackathon? • You will be supported to quickly develop an IA2030 Action Plan suitable for implementation, to help you with a challenge that you face in your work. • You will share experience, learn from the experiences of fellow immunization professionals, and both give and receive feedback to help everyone improve.
What is the format of the IA2030 Action Plan? • You will receive a link to an online questionnaire. • The questionnaire walks you step-by-step through the development of your Action Plan. • When you finish the questionnaire, you will receive your IA2030 Action Plan by email.

The aim is to facilitate coordination, liaison, and representation of the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030.

WHY IS THE GENEVA LEARNING FOUNDATION SHARING INSIGHTS?
The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) hosts the largest and fastest-growing community of national and sub-national immunization professionals, with over 40,000 active participants from over 120 countries, as of May 2021. 80% of members are sub-national immunization staff, with strong support and linkage to national teams.
We realized that the valuable multi-country knowledge shared in our programmes should be regularly given back to the community, and that it could also inform our partners in identifying real-time priorities and opportunities and formulating strategies.
The Insights Unit is the Foundation’s research and analysis group. We systematically consolidate and communicate the contributions of learners in the Foundation’s programmes to share back to participants, governments, civil society and development partners.
To synthesize and spread insights, we work in partnership with Bridges to Development, the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and other partners.

Why does peer review matter?

Peer review is an important responsibility that we are entrusting to each other in the Movement.
Your colleagues will NOT be able to complete the exercise without your help.
They depend on you for feedback to improve – as you depend on them.
Do your best to honor this mutual commitment and finish your three peer reviews before the deadline.
How to give high-quality feedback
Golden rule for peer review: Write your feedback in the way that you would like to receive feedback yourself.
Have you taken the time to carefully read and fully understand the peer's work? Why have you given a particular rating, but not others? Explain your rating. What specific and constructive suggestions can you give to help them improve? What personal experience and insights can you share? What resources can be useful to the peer?
Vague statements such as “I like the way you wrote this” (WHY?) or “This is too short, can you say more” (WHAT exactly?) are less useful than specific, constructive inputs.
Look at the work from a position of strength and how it can be improved rather than from a position of weakness and why it does not work. Comment on the assignment rather than the author – it is the assignment you are critiquing, not the author.
Offer your feedback as a humble suggestion for their consideration rather than it being the truth – what may be true for you may not be true for your author. Other reviewers will be offering different views and opinions so the person receiving your review of their work will have the option of selecting the suggestions that they find most helpful.
Read your feedback before posting it and ask yourself how you would feel receiving this feedback. If your critique seems harsh, for example, it may cause upset and be less likely to be taken up constructively.
Imagine your feedback as a gift from one practitioner to another – and offer it with warmth and genuine commitment to their work and professional development.

Rubric for situation analysis
A situation analysis helps you better understand your local situation. It provides you with evidence plan actions for your challenge.
For your situation analysis, you need to: 1. Describe the most important challenge you face in your work. 2. Turn this into a question, to help you work out what you need to know. 3. Gather as much information and data as you can to help answer your question. 4. Summarize your key findings. 5. Identify what important things you still do not know that would help you answer your question. 6. Find simple ways in which you could gather this missing information. 7. Based on what you have discovered, identify actions that could be taken to address your challenge.
Based on this, you will prepare a brief summary to explain this to others (such as your colleagues, your supervisor, or your leadership team).

Your situation analysis should be:

Specific: Focus on what is specific about your local situation, not generalities. Use your own words. Do not copy and paste. Summarize or reference information that is already available elsewhere.

Focused: Zero in on a single question - everything you do in your situation analysis should help you answer this question.

Data guided: Your analysis should be based on data and evidence. Use data sources that are locally available to you. If data is incomplete or evidence is weak, explain why it is still useful for your analysis. Spend time reviewing and thinking through what “story” the existing data tells you.

Relevant. Your situation analysis should tell you what you need to do next. If it does not help you identify concrete action steps you can take to start to tackle your challenge, you need to go back and redefine your question until it does.
Gaps in the data: what to do if there is something you do not know?

Focus on what you do know. Use information and data that already exist. If they are imperfect, acknowledge this as a limitation and explain how this affects your findings.

What you do not know points to the need for future investigation (e.g., through a field visit).
-
Treat situation analysis as an iterative process. This means that you do it once, and then review and revise as you learn more.
For example, if your question is about “why” a particular challenge or problem exists, look for root cause(s). If you do not have all the information you need to get to the root cause, draw conclusions where you can and acknowledge what you do not know.

What is situation analysis?
The purpose of a situational analysis is to provide you with a better understanding of your local setting, so that you can design an appropriate action plan to achieve your goal. For a good situational analysis, you should aim not just to describe your local situation but also to analyze it so that you understand why the situation exists. This will enable you to plan what to do next. Timeline for developing your situation analysis
Write (21 March-1 April): You need to submit the initial version of your situation analysis in Peergrade no later than 23h59 Friday 1 April 2022 Geneva time (check deadline in your location).
Peer review (4-8 April): Carefully review the initial version of three peers' situation analyses and then provide constructive feedback to help them improve their analyses no later than 23h59 Friday 8 April 2022 Geneva time (check peer review deadline in your location)
Revise and finalize (11-15 April): Revise your own situation analysis using feedback received from three peers and submit the final version of your situation analysis no later than 23h59 Friday 15 April 2022 Geneva time (check deadline in your location)
What is a rubric?
A rubric is a coherent set of instructions, criteria, and guiding questions. It may be used flexibly to guide you in your roles as both author (when you draft your project) and reviewer (when you give structured, constructive feedback about your peers' projects).
For authors, a rubric describes what they need to write. For reviewers, a rubric guides their constructive, specific inputs to help other authors improve their projects. What is a criterion?
A criterion is one item in a rubric. Each criterion includes guidance to describe it and a set of ratings (0-4).
Why is there a numerical scale for each criterion?
Reviewers are asked to use a numerical scale (0-4) to assess the author’s current level of work, with the primary objective of sharing suggestions, advice, and recommendations on how the author may improve their final version.
This is not a grade or a judgment of the author.
Reviewers must explain the rating they have assigned by providing constructive, specific inputs and comments.
Tip: Authors may choose to use this scale themselves to self-assess their work when preparing their own project.

What are we learning from the applicants to the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030?
As of this morning, 1993 francophones and 2,639 anglophones have joined the Movement for Immunization Agenda 2030.
More than 80 percent are sub-national staff working in districts and health facilities, and over half work for their Ministry of Health.
Everyone who joins answered questions about their work and well-being, the most urgent challenge they face, and the support you need to tackle this challenge.
We also asked you about the effect of the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine for routine immunization (RI) and primary health care (PHC) services where you work and about the strategies you are using to successfully reach unvaccinated or undervaccines “zero-dose” children and “missed” communities.
Today, we share a quick overview of what we have learned from such a large number and diversity of inputs.

WHY IS THE GENEVA LEARNING FOUNDATION SHARING INSIGHTS?
The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) hosts the largest and fastest-growing community of national and sub-national immunization professionals, with over 40,000 active participants from over 120 countries, as of May 2021. 80% of members are sub-national immunization staff, with strong support and linkage to national teams.
We realized that the valuable multi-country knowledge shared in our programmes should be regularly given back to the community, and that it could also inform our partners in identifying real-time priorities and opportunities and formulating strategies.
WHAT IS THE INSIGHTS UNIT?
The Insights Unit is the Foundation’s research and analysis group. We systematically consolidate and communicate the contributions of learners in the Foundation’s programmes to share back to participants, governments, civil society and development partners.
To synthesize and spread insights, we work in partnership with Bridges to Development, the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC) at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and other partners.

Immunization Agenda 2030 is not just another initiative. It is the world’s road map for the entire decade, starting with recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the Seventy-Fourth World Health Assembly, the Director General of the World Health Organization called for “a broad social movement for immunization that will ensure that immunization remains high on global and regional health agendas and help to generate a groundswell of support or social movement for immunization”.
