Of course, you don’t have to say this promise to your people verbally, but this is an unspoken promise wherein even if you didn’t tell them, they can still feel it and see it in your actions. One of the things that the pandemic has shown us is that the church has settled. It has settled for great events and services, great buildings and facilities, great preachers and programs; and none of that is bad. However, in many ways, the church has dropped the ball when it comes to discipleship and developing people. The way we found that out is, we were put in a situation where we could no longer have fellowship and service and so much of what we do… just fell apart. Even for those of us who leveraged the virtual space and were able to help our church keep running in tough times, the lives of the people started to show us that we have dropped the ball on discipleship.
