Small Eyes Big Dreams

Small Eyes Big Dreams is the brainchild of 3 high-school students-- Gerrard Ding, Johnny We, and Steve Park. We are 3 childhood friends who all had an interest learning about self improvement, psychology, philosophy, and business.

We started with weekly book reading meetings...just sitting down reading books, then discussing them afterwards. Later, this developed into a podcast, where we could further articulate the ideas we were learning, as well as being able to have fun talking about our own unique experiences. Whatever we are, we are just your average high-school goof balls...

We're becoming adults, and more and more we're finding that life is a big, hard question. Are we getting too pessimistic, with thoughts that adulthood forever changes the way we deal with responsibilites? We discuss mental health in relation to the music industry for example, and how Steve deals with a thousand different ideas of making a song perfect. Gerrard voices his opinion, about how to seek help, by being the initiator of conversations. Johnny helps the two come to an agreement, that life is inherently meaningless, and that we must generate our own purpose. Especially as New Adults.

What an interesting title, and episode for that matter. In this drowsy, tired episode, we talk a lot about the mental. Not mental health as we’ve talked about in many episodes, rather, the landscape of the mind… coming from a few amateur high school students.. I know, right! Seriously though, intrusive thoughts can be quite the problem, and in this episode, we tackle subjects such as sleep, thinking about a special person in your life too much, and how stress plays a role in each of our individual lives. This episode can help you relax, from all the annoyances of your mind… be sure to check it out! (edited)

This Small Eyes Big Dreams video was recorded with no topic in mind at first, but as we asked our question of the day "If you could be good at One Thing, what would you be good at?" Ideas and notions flooded our head about what we could talk about, and it rested on the idea of communication with others. In our society today, our opinion often gets shut out by others, we get shut down(socially) by others, we offend others, and sometimes moving on and changing takes a lot of effort. In this episode, we talk about all these problems, and voice out our own opinion 😁

Today we finally had an opportunity to sit down and discuss our stances on money. As students who have not started working yet, we debated whether our view on money was too romanticized, as well as what we thought "rich" was. Money is a universal concern everywhere, and we broke down the significance surrounding it... asking questions such as "How much money does one even need?", or "if not capitalism, then what?" As high-school students with limited experience, the main bread and butter of the episode was derived from our own interest with learning about money, psychology, economics, and broader society. Much of these came from business books, online lectures, and learning about investing in our spare time. This episode was the longest one we have filmed yet, as we just kept coming up with questions that needed to be answered. Help us out by giving us a listen!
