If you knew you couldn’t keep a single thing you own, what would you chase and what would you finally let go? We return to the faith of Moses and put a spotlight on a life shaped by the future, not the moment. The thread running through everything is “looking forward” and it pushes against the instinct to gather, store, and sit on our comfort while pretending it will save us. We talk about wealth, contentment, and why Christians can hold material stability with open hands because our true inheritance is stored up in heaven.
We also get honest about the fear that sits under so much striving: the fear of death and the fear of losing what we’ve built. The good news lands with force here. Jesus is the death conqueror, and because of Him we don’t have to live in slavery to that dread. Living for “right now” feels powerful until it all changes overnight. We sit with Hebrews 11:23–29 and trace the faith of Moses, not as a distant Bible hero, but as a steady example for anyone trying to endure pressure, disappointment, or slow progress without giving up.
We use the tortoise and the hare to expose a trap many of us fall into: sprinting for quick comfort, quick status, and quick fixes. Moses could have taken the treasures and authority of Egypt, yet he chooses “disgrace for the sake of Christ” because he’s looking ahead to a reward that can’t be stolen. That forward-looking mindset runs through Hebrews, from Abraham longing for God’s city to believers pressing on toward what’s ahead, and it’s a direct challenge to the anxious “me, myself, and now” way of life.
From there, the conversation shifts to the centre of Christian salvation: Peter’s confession of Jesus as the Christ, and Jesus’ words that this is revealed by the Father. Seeing Jesus with your eyes is not the same as Christ being revealed in your heart. Control feels like safety until it turns into anxiety you can’t switch off. Trouble is not a surprise, and peace is not a pretend feeling. We open John 16:28–33 and listen to Jesus speak plainly about where he comes from, where he is going, and what his followers are about to face. Do angels still matter, or are they just seasonal decorations?
